Cease Fire? That's Not Going to Happen!

By Rich Kozlovich

Editor's Note:  It's 7:26 PM 11/16/23, and I've updated this piece with the cartoon below.  This is the Michael Ramirez cartoon the Washington post decided was "racist" and cancelled. Hello Washington Post: This truth isn't racist, it's just the truth.   RK

 Hamas

My friend  recently sent an article to me for publication, A 'Humanitarian' Gaza Ceasefire – to Help Plant More IEDs with this prologue saying:

Israel finds itself in the middle of a war it did not want but could not avoid after the barbarism Hamas inflicted on Israelis and non-Israelis living just east of Gaza – in towns I have visited, and on people I know ... or knew before they were butchered. This article was written by my friend Dean Bagdadi, whose family has lived in these very same areas since his parents and grandparents were driven out of Baghdad some sixty years ago. He offers personal insights that will help explain the history and current situation. He also offers suggestions for what people outside of Israel can do to help end the conflict, or at least reduce its impacts.

I keep hearing this insane "proportional response" clabber, which I wrote about in this piece, What's a "Proportional Response"? A Cease Fire? Let's continue with this, and see just how much proportionality these nitwits would like.

Gaza has launched approximately 5,000 rockets into Israel's civilian population with their current invasion.   Gaza has a population of 2.048 million.  That translates to 0.004422 rockets per person.  Israel has a population of 9.364 million which means their proportional response per ratio to population would be for Israel to launch 22,867 rockets into Gaza's civilian population.  Right?

Well, that 5,000 number has escalated to over 9,500 rockets since October 7, which would push the number Israel could launch into Gaza's civilian population into the 40,000 range.  But what about the rest of the year?  Between January and July 2023 they fired 1,581.  And that pattern of barbarity has repeated over an over again. Here are the figures for the previous five years:

  1. In 2022 they fired 1,115.
  2. In 2021 they fired 4,425.
  3. In 2020 they fired 133.
  4. In 2019 they fired, 643.
  5. 2018 they fired 315.

That's 8,116 rockets and/or mortars these barbarians have fired into Israel's civilian population over the previous five years alone.  Proportionality per ratio to population?

37,062!

How would these nitwits like that?  Remember,  they demand proportionality.  So, if they want proportionality, those would have be fired indiscriminately into Gaza's civilian population.

However, that's just the tip of the iceberg.  Since 2001 these monsters have launched tens of thousands of rockets and mortars into Israel's civilian population, in what can only be described as "war crimes".  Israel has never launched an offensive campaign in response, merely in defense, which is further proof you can't win a war only with defense.

This is from Wikipedia:  Lists of Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel.

These are lists of rocket and mortar attacks on Israel by Palestinian militant groups.

Let's try and grasp this once and for all. History is everything. History is, and must be, the foundation for all our thoughts and actions.  History is the paved pathway leading to the stepping stones of the future.  Daniel Greenfield's article, Gates of Gaza has this paragraph, and I think that pretty much says it all.

But when we cease to see the enemy for what it is, then we lose the knowledge of what is true. We let ourselves be tied down by our enemies with promises of peace and love, but they only blind and mock us. The Lord departs from us, the Philistines deface our monuments and kill us. And then at long last we wake up, surrounded by blood and ruin, and the knowledge that we must either perish, bear the gates of Gaza forever or go to wage war against the Philistines.

Yet Israel hasn't chosen proportionality.  They've chosen disproportionate military action to actually protect the civilian population of Gaza, which is directly and substantially different than that which Hamas has done hiding amidst their citizens using them as human shields, demanding a cease fire.

Well, that's not going to happen now, and it's clear Israel's government has decided to end this insanity forever.  As for the Palestinian Authority on the West Bank.  They need to be crushed also, and if they're forced to flee to Jordan, so much the better.  That's a schadenfreude moment since all these Muslim nations shouting their support for these Arabs who claim to be Palestinian can then enjoy their participation in their nation's affairs.  Which will be to cause unending disruption, and live on the public dole.
