Treason

Time to call it what it is

In an earlier piece, we referenced the immensely popular 1964 self-published book, None Dare Call It Treason by John Stormer. As noted in that essay, Stormer’s work detailed American accommodations to the Soviets, and more broadly documented the undermining of traditional values, in all sorts of institutions, including the government. Its popularity was simple to explain.

In a world where there was precious little alternative media, it spoke truths that resonated with a wide swath of the public. For that reason, it was viciously condemned by the powers that be. And remember… This was before the Vietnam escalation. But even then, the notion of the government working AGAINST the good of the people struck a chord.

In its article on “treason,” Encyclopædia Britannica first puts forth this definition: “[T]he crime of betraying a nation or a sovereign by acts considered dangerous to security.” Then, it notes that the Framers were well aware of how accusations of “treason” could become a convenient political weapon, and thus expressly defined it:

Treason against the United States “shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them aid and comfort.”

One could make a good argument that much of what is presently occurring in the United States exemplifies “adhering to our enemies or giving them aid and comfort.”

By deliberately creating an open border, the Biden administration is undermining the social structure of many cities, as well as promoting child and drug trafficking. Moreover, terrorists and other criminals are being let in virtually unabated.

Although the COVID travesty started before the current administration, the Biden team only made things worse by supporting vaccine mandates, and doubling-down on the disastrous policies created by earlier vintages of the CDC, FDA, and NIH.

By the Biden administration promoting absurd “Climate” narratives, energy production was cut back, thus increasing the prices of everything. And, if that were not bad enough, mind-bogglingly stupid economic policies were advanced to supposedly fight inflation, but only created stagflation.

By the Biden administration promoting bubbleheaded notions of “gender,” uncertainty was instilled in the minds of impressionable teens, some of whom (usually at the prodding of a toxic single mother) were subjected to mutilation surgery. Amazingly, these insane ideas were accepted by much of academic medicine, the AMA and the American Academy of Pediatrics. In many cases, government dollars paid for the surgeries. Even without surgery, damage has been inflicted on women.

With the Biden administration pushing the false “Green” premise of electric vehicles, automakers are losing thousands on each one sold. And, there’s also the matter of the impossibility of mining enough raw materials to make the requisite batteries and the environmental disaster of disposing of them; the lack of a charging infrastructure; or the reality that recharging power will STILL have to be generated with fossil fuels.

With the Biden administration simultaneously undermining law enforcement against real criminals while fascistically targeting Jan 6 protesters, some of whom were not even on site at the time, citizens must endure Antifa hooligans and organized shoplifting gangs receiving no punishment, and retail outlets closing every day. Also included here is the pernicious targeting of the leading opposing presidential candidate.

In short, if the object of the current administration were to destroy the United States, surely giving aid and comfort to our enemies, how would it be acting any differently? Ah, but none dare call it treason—nearly 60 years later. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
