When the UN moves in, so do all the international anti-Israel do-gooders.

Could anything be more preposterous than assigning the United Nations the job of policing the Gaza Strip if the Israelis succeed in ridding civilization of Hamas? UN organizations have for years overseen the international support that has kept Hamas in business. Now, the Biden administration wants the same crowd of Israel-haters to supervise the Palestinian remnants from whose number Hamas emerged in the first place.
United Nations for Post-Gaza Conflict Management?
Because the Biden administration is doing such an excellent job of deterring Iran from supporting proxy militants, why not give the administration of a post-Gaza conflict to the same organization that considered Iran a good choice for the chairmanship of its Human Rights Council? Worse yet, the very organization Biden wants to monitor the reconstruction of Gaza is, by most accounts, the same crowd that sponsored the hate rhetoric used by the UN Rights and Work Agency (UNRWA). Ari Blaff, writing for National Review, revealed the depth of UNRWA’s despicable behavior:
“A group of at least 20 staffers and teachers affiliated with the UN Rights and Work Agency, a Palestinian aid organization, celebrated the Hamas slaughter of Israeli civilians following its surprise invasion, a new report from UN Watch found. Shortly after thousands of Hamas terrorists flooded across the Israeli-Gaza border on October 7, massacring, raping, and torturing civilians, UNRWA staffers and affiliated teachers took to social media to celebrate the atrocities as a justified response to Israeli aggression.”
Most galling is that under Biden’s leadership, US taxpayers have paid for the very hate speech and propaganda fed to Palestinian children that most Americans abhor. “The teachers of hate at UNRWA are largely funded by Western countries who contribute the lion’s share of UNRWA’s $1.6 billion-dollar budget. Amounts pledged for 2022 included $344 million from the United States,” according to the UN Watch report. And this is the international group Biden believes is suitable to help rebuild Gaza?
Nonetheless, “The Biden administration is pressuring Israel to define its plan for the ‘the day after’… Understanding how unlikely Israel is to accept this suicidal proposal, Secretary of State Antony Blinken suggests it turn Gaza over to a United Nations peacekeeping force or other multinational presence,” Eugene Kontorovich wrote for the New York Post. Oh, yes, multinational forces have worked so well in the past. The blue-hatted UN peacekeepers did such a sterling job in reducing the genocide in Rwanda during the 1994 murderous rampage of the majority Hutus against the minority Tutsi population. They were unable to implement a ceasefire but did an excellent job of monitoring the carnage that left, by some estimates, 800,000 civilians dead.
Failed to Keep Peace in Lebanon
However, there is evidence of the UN’s inability to manage peacekeeping closer to Israel. The United Nations has had a peacekeeping force in Lebanon since 1956, and the best it has done is watch the meteoric rise of the Iran-backed terrorists Hezbollah. It is safe to say that a multinational force of UN peacekeepers is not the solution. In fact, the Biden administration has some chutzpah, asking the Israelis for a plan for “the day after.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might want to provide the Israel Defense Force’s plan for its Gaza exit strategy when Biden shows him an endgame scenario for Ukraine. After more than 630 days of fighting, all the Biden national security team can offer is “as long as it takes.”
An additional consideration: “The United Nations General Assembly passed more resolutions critical of Israel than against all other nations combined in 2022, contributing to what observers call an ongoing lopsided focus on the Jewish state at the world body,” The Times of Israel explained. Furthermore, “The Assembly (UN General Assembly) also failed to unequivocally reject and condemn the terrorist attacks by Hamas that took place in Israel starting 7 October,” a UN press release announced.
Israel should reject any notion of UN participation until Hamas is destroyed in Gaza. The White House brain trust should have better counsel for the president than to entrust Israel’s future to a deliberative international body best suited for chatting among themselves unhelpfully.
