Texas: A Tale of Two Planets

In order to maintain my blog I have to read a lot of articles, but fortunately I have a large group of correspondents who send me pieces I can use regularly.  That saves me a lot of time, although I can honestly say even a newsie like me can only stand so much.

As I read articles, or comments in these articles, some are so irrational I post this comment: "What planet are you from?"

On Texas AG Paxton: ‘Only Reason’ Anyone Would Be Against Voter ID Is to Allow Cheating,"  saying:

Paxton warned if states like Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania “don’t get their act together” when it comes to signature verification for mail-in voting, “we’ll never know if we have secure elections.”................[discrimination]..... “That’s just a red herring, and it’s just not true.”...... because you have to have a photo ID [for everyday life],”............“The only reason you don’t want people to have a photo ID is that people can cheat. That’s the only rational answer as to why certain people want no photo ID requirements.”..........

Then on May 31 he posted this second piece, "Beto O’Rourke: Texas Voting Bill ‘Doing the Exact Same Thing’ as Poll Tax, Literacy Tests," quoting "Beto" saying:

"the bill to ensure more security in the state’s elections is akin to the poll tax and literacy tests that were used to stop black Americans from voting."........“[I]t’s worth remembering that our democracy is the exception and not the rule in world history, and the exception on the planet today, and as hard-fought as this democracy was won, we can so easily lose it with provisions like this one,”

How does eliminating voter fraud equate with overturning the Democracy past generations fought so hard for?  A weak red herring argument, especially since his party insists all this hard fought for Democracy was fought for and brought into existence by racists!   And the Democracy they fought so hard for is illegitimately a white supremacist nation that should be overturned!

He rambles on incoherently a bit and then goes on to say:

“You know, the poll tax 100 years ago was somewhat innocuous-sounding. The literacy test, the counting the number of jelly beans in a jar, but in every instance, they were used to try to stop black Texans and African-Americans throughout the former Confederacy from being able to use their rights to vote. And in that same way, ending souls to the polls and closing polling places in predominately African-American neighborhoods is doing the exact same thing in 2021. And I do think if you connect it to all of these other provisions in other states, you see the greatest attack on multiracial democracy since Lyndon Baines Johnson signed the voting rights act into law in 1965.”

So, asking people to prove they're who they say they are equates to poll taxes, literacy tests, etc?  No wonder the Democrats in Texas fought this like the petulant children they are by walking out and preventing a quorum.  No arguments, no rationale, no presentation of facts, just petulance.

And bringing LBJ into this voting rights argument is truly rich, implying it was Johnson and his fellow Democrats who passed the Voting Rights Bill.  In reality it was Republican Minority Leader Senator Everett Dirkson and the Republicans in Congress who passed cloture of the filibuster led by that Democrat party paragon, Senator Byrd, and forced the vote that passed the act.

Well this Democrat penchant for petulance when they can't get their way isn't new.  They did this in Wisconsin a few years ago, actually fleeing the state to avoid being arrested and forced back to the chamber to form a quorum.  It backfired.   In the long run, this will also.  It turns out Governor Abbot isn't playing the old Republican "Oh no, what can we do game?"  That never fixed anything as "next year" never comes.  He playing Donald Trump hardball.

"Gov. Abbott seems to have been prepared for something like this, because he made it clear that he has no intention of letting the Democrats walk away from their game-playing.  Using his personal Twitter feed, he announced that he will defund the legislature for its failure to do its duty:"

"I will veto Article 10 of the budget passed by the legislature. Article 10 funds the legislative branch. No pay for those who abandon their responsibilities. Stay tuned."

"Then Abbott explained that the Democrats' little snit was meaningless because he plans to convene a special session to get the job done:"

Just how different can two people seeing all the same information be so divergent in their views?  Because one of them is irrational, illogical, misanthropic and morally defective.  The first piece had 3,856 comments, and the second piece had 733 comments.  Take a look at the comments and I think you can easily conclude the sane people of our planet have concluded which is which.

Which brings be back to the title of this piece.   A Tale of Two Planets.  We live in a world filled with leftists, Democrats, progressives, socialists, communists, Hollywood misfits, academic misfits, and worst of all, main stream media misfits who fill the void with irrational social paradigms, logical fallacies, lies of commission and lies of omission.

Conclusion?

They're aliens from another planet attempting to destroy humanity.  But, that's completely irrational you say?  Really?  Well, that's as rational as Democrats saying they're defeating bills that guarantee voter integrity because “It’s wrong and un-American!"

Or is this alleged concern about what's un-American merely a ploy to allow these leftists to continue misleading the masses and preventing them from understanding their real goal has nothing to do with justice.  It's to destroy the American identity, the American culture, the American economy and destroy the U.S. Constitution?
