The deceased criminal suspect, Winston Boogie Smith, whom some Minneapolis residents rioted and looted on behalf of Thursday evening, turns out to have been a convicted felon, habitual criminal and woman beater “Smith’s criminal record includes 20 convictions, mostly for minor traffic and parking violations, plus three marijuana charges — and [an] aggravated robbery conviction in which his ex-girlfriend was beaten until her face was swollen and bloody, court documents show,” Fox News confirmed Friday.
Smith was fatally shot by U.S. Marshals on Thursday after he reportedly fired his gun on them while being arrested for an open warrant related to a case involving the illegal possession of a gun. As a convicted felon, he was not allowed to own one.
“Court records show the warrant was issued after Smith failed to appear for sentencing May 19 in Ramsey County District Court. He had been charged with two felonies in November 2019 when officers found him at a White Bear Lake apartment with a loaded handgun in his car,” according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Initial reports claimed he’d merely drawn his weapon during Thursday’s
encounter. However, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued
a statement to the Post-Dispatch confirming that he’d outright opened
fire.........After the shooting, rioting and looting by Black Lives Matter extremists
erupted in Minneapolis, a “call for justice” for Smith began trending
on social media...........As previously reported, there have been no similar “calls for
justice” for 9-year-old Trinity Ottoson-Smith and 6-year-old Aniya
Allen, both of whom were killed after being shot by criminals just like
Smith. Nor has there been any “calls for justice” for Ladavionne Garrett
Jr., who remains in critical condition after having been shot in the
