Iran: The Never Ending Story

By Rich Kozlovich

Yesterday I posted this article - The World As I See It - Iran - about the geopolitics of Iran and the potential for a regime change. It would appear all is happening even faster than I thought, and it appears there's some serious underground organizational efforts involved. I intend to keep tracking this here on P&D.

One thing I think I can easily predict for  2018 is this: The Democrats will find just about every issue will become an increasingly difficult embarrassment for them to overcome.  Without control of the "Bully Pulpit" and the demise of their allies in the media, it will be impossible to prevent them being exposed for the insane positions they've taken, all of which are turning into public relations disasters - because there's nothing exposes stupidity like reality.

One more thing:  When these kinds of things break out it will continually demonstrate just how stupid and incompetent Obama and his myrmidons were in dealing with enemies of the United States and the civilized world.  It's either stupidity and incompetence or treason.  Which is it?

The New Iranian Revolution: Is It Possible? By Elizabeth Nahas
Nineteen seventy-nine was a momentous year. In my little world, college graduation was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal. In the world at large, the Iranian revolution occurred – and wreaked havoc and destruction in ways neither the Iranians nor the rest of the world could have ever imagined. At the time, being an educated and low-information voter, as we know they are synonymous, I paid little attention to these circumstances except to understand that the Shah and his secret police, the Savak, were deposed; a medieval-looking, menacing ayatollah took over the country; and Americans were held hostage, eventually being released...........

Iranian mullahs caught off guard by scale of protests -By Shahriar Kia
The uprisings in Iran are scaring the mullahs and will have a high impact on U.S. foreign policy.  On the fourth day of the nationwide uprising of the Iranian people, regime officials are acknowledging popular anger against and abhorrence of the regime and the uprising spreading across the country. The people are seeking regime change in Iran, and this has a major impact for the U.S.'s and the international community's foreign policy in the Middle East and possibly beyond. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which is a major force behind the protests, released a statement in which she said, in part, "The ongoing protests in different cities against the regime reveal the explosive state of Iranian society and the people's desire for regime change," Fox news reported. ...............

Iran’s Islamic Government Fights Back: Two Dead in Persian Protests  By Andrew West December 31, 2017
The situation is Iran is beginning to spiral out of control this weekend, as government protesters continue to clash with authorities and hardline Islamic supporters. Until the year 1979, Iran was a bright, modern nation whose vibe was far similar to The Big Apple than Baghdad.  Women wore mini-skirts and paid for dinner, while the men took on a very GQ aesthetic.  For all intents and purposes, the Iranian nation was on its way to becoming a first world nation of the highest order.

Trump Rushed To Stand Up For Iranian Protesters, Obama Failed To Do The SameRyan Pickrell on December 30, 2017
Tensions are presently running high in Iran as anti-government protests — the largest in years — have broken out in cities across the country.  The protests began Thursday in the second most populous city, Mashhad, with people expressing dissatisfaction with Iran’s economic problems. The following day, the protests spread to half a dozen cities and evolved into broad anti-government demonstrations. While protesters numbered in the hundreds in some places, there were thousands in others.  Many Iranian citizens have been arrested for their participation in “illegal” gatherings...........

Reminder: John Kerry Admitted Some Iranian Economic Sanctions Relief Would Go Towards Terrorism Timothy Meads Posted: Dec 31, 2017
On Sunday evening, President Donald J. Trump took to Twitter to slam the Iranian government and to remind the world that the Islamic Republic is the world’s biggest state sponsor of terrorism, something President Obama's State Department reported in 2016.......... That report came after then Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that some of the money provided via economic sanctions relief to Iran - nearly $150 billion – would end up in the hands of terrorists.............

Lindsey Graham: Iran Protests Highlight Obama's Failure Timothy Meads
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday and told host Major Garrett that if he were President Donald J. Trump, he would do the opposite of what President Barack Obama did in Iran.  Many critics say the 44th president failed to show adequate support for anti-government protesters in 2009, which only emboldened the theocratic state to increase its brutal regime and control over its people............

Former Obama Official: US 'Chose to Not Be as Supportive' of 2009 Iranian Protesters Timothy Meads
Former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen appeared on ABC News “This Week” where he voiced concern that President Barack Obama was not as supportive of anti-government Iranian protesters as he should have been in 2009. He told ABC News that he hopes President Donald J. Trump is “supportive of more freedoms in that country.”  Host Martha Raddatz asked Mullen his opinion regarding President Trump’s response to the recent Iranian protests. Mullen was supportive and made key distinctions between how President Obama handled the situation in 2009 and how President Trump is in present day.
