What I'm Reading: Iran

By Rich Kozlovich Tags: The World's Nine Orders

Iran is a disaster created by Jimmy Carter, and as you peruse these 95 linked article you will see a pattern emerging.  Iran is now being run by.... well.... they're not really sure because as soon as they reach an agreement someone decides to renege on that agreement.  But that should not surprise anyone, that's been the standard operating procedure for Islam since Muhammad.  It seems clear to me their formal military is being overshadowed by the radicals on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp, who seem to be making decisions without concern about what the administration wants or has agreed to.

Then again, given the duplicity of these people that may just be an excuse they're using to avoid more retaliation from Trump.  It's not working at this point.  At any rate.... there's a ton of verbiage in the articles listed below, some of it irrational, some of it is right on, but either way, pick and choose what you like, but one thing is clear, this is a totally convoluted mess, and it's all about oil ...... so .........enjoy!

The World as I See It! Profound, Provocative and Unfailingly Accurate

By Rich Kozlovich

Let's start out with two thoughts I think absolutely represent insightful foundational thinking.

  1. You can't reform totalitarianism.
  2. Reform isn't a viable policy regarding Iran's current government.

Yet we have comments from former Secretary of State Pompeo making comments that are a study in antithetical thinking, and are representative the administration's current thinking,  saying:

.........the United States does not support regime change in Iran, but rather a change in the behavior of the Iranian regime" and that "the United States supported Iranians, wherever they were, who were fighting for greater freedom, so long as they did not advocate an end to the Islamic regime itself"........"We don't want them advocating for regime change, either…We want them working on behalf of the Iranian people, ordinary Iranian citizens who want nothing more than to live their lives, to be able to take their hijab off, to be able to go to work and raise their families and worship in the way they want to worship."

The major problem with this policy is that totalitarian regimes, like the Islamic Republic of Iran, can’t be reformed. Remember “Communism with a human face”? We never saw it. Instead, we saw the Red Army crush Alexander Dubcek’s reformists in the streets of Czechoslovakia. Ditto for Mikhail Gorbachev, whose glasnost was widely believed to signal the transformation of Soviet Communism. It didn’t, and the Soviet system wasn’t transformed until Gorbachev was removed, and his successors abolished the Communist state. Italian fascism and German Nazism were both defeated on the battlefield, and abolished, not transformed.....

This take by Pompeo is interesting since Iran was plotting to kill him.  Then there's Vance who clearly is on board with this foolish Iran Deal.

I have conservative friends, politically active friends, who point out Vance originally was an anti-Trumper who converted, and they simple didn’t trust that conversion, and while he’s been impressive in some scenarios, he’s not doing himself any favors with this lousy deal and his failure to disavow Tucker Carlson, who I think is either mentally disturbed or on the take….. maybe both…. and that includes Candace Owens, along with a number of well known writers, and politicos.

Disagreeing with Trump isn’t irrational. De Omnibus Dubitandum (everything is to be questioned) is the motto of science, which government grant money ended, however it’s my personal motto and is foundation thinking to the rational mind. But for these who go from being solid conservative voices to far left, anti-conservative, anti-Trump, anti-Republican, and antisemitic, Islamophalic ranters isn’t the least bit rational, and it should be troubling to sane minds.  It appears this doesn't trouble Vance's mind.

Socialism

Socialism is the foundational philosophy for fascism and communism, and most of the other leftist isms, and are embraced with irrational enthusiasm. Every leftist controlled nation fails economically, philosophically, and are absolute disasters in human rights.  As Winston Churchill noted in 1948, "Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy."

Yet with all that history of disaster we find these young and foolish radicals, many of them college graduates and/or students have been propagandized by far left leaning university leaders and professors to embrace insanity.  All of whom suffer from preconceptualism. They reach a conclusion before doing any research, and then dismiss anything that refutes their preconceptual views, ergo, since they never see anything that refutes their preconceived notions, they must be right!  What they are is certifiable and insufferable lunatics.

The Race Card

Let's take for example this issue over this book on slavery, The Grimkes, by a black Tufts professor, Kerri K. Greenidge.  Initially it was a big hit and widely lauded.  That was until historians started to take a good look at her book and found it to be:

"deeply flawed" and disputing Greenidge's accounts of key episodes and the location of certain letters the book cites."'

While denying these claims against her, she fails to refute them.  Instead she cries it's those white racist men who are against her.  Okay, well, maybe that's true, but that doesn't refute their claims.  Are their claims just racist, or are they accurate?  If she's playing the tiresome race card and not refuting those claims it's reasonable to assume their claims are accurate, and even if racism is behind their actions, which is a highly dubious claim, the real issue is for her to provably refute whether or not their claims are false.  I think it's clear the publisher thinks that's the real issue also, since they've pulled her book.

The question that needs asked and answered is this.  If she wasn't a black woman would her book have been published in the first place?  Since it's been shown publishers are now giving precedence to black and female authors, I think the answer just might be.... NO!

Update, 7/13/26: Renowned Feminist Historian Loses Professorship as Experts Tear Apart Her So-Called Historical Finding.   Here are five of the claims against her work.

  1.  ‘Where is she getting this?’.............Boy, it became a major problem.”
  2. ...lacks the evidence to substantiate many of her major claims.
  3. Her work is also riddled with factual errors.
  4. ....repeatedly omits needed endnotes.
  5.  “It seems well done, except when you look at the footnotes,” Fox said, noting that he could not find the material cited using the sources Greenidge listed
  6. ........ key letters she cited were held by the University of Michigan, they were not.

She 'was' a tenured professor in the Department of Studies in Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora at Tufts University, which prepares students to do .... nothing.... except to be radicals, and at great expense.  It's time to end this charade.  Bye, Bye, Black Studies

Update,  7/21/26 5:07 AM:

  • Trump Admin Applies Common Sense Test to Useless College Degrees - College enrollment is booming not because there’s any real need for it or any real value to it (just the opposite) but because there is the perception that college is the only viable path to a career and enough jobs are gated off behind college diplomas to create the pressure for massive student loans to finance a worthless woke degree to get a job that it turns out will pay less than anticipated. Then come the cries about student loans.  The Trump administration is using a common sense test to try and break the cycle.......The other half of this needs to be a stronger push to end the practice gating off jobs that don’t require college degrees behind those degrees… a practice that the Supreme Court at one point found to be illegal and which drives massive debt and taxpayer spending on subsidies for colleges that benefit no one except the colleges and their deans and faculty members.......

Is the Iran Deal Really That Good?

 By Rich Kozlovich

This "deal" Trump has negotiated is being lauded and touted as something great.  Let the oil flow, ships can now start their engines, the world is safe now.  It's being lauded as if it's going to stand the test of time.  I think that might be just a bit premature.

As General Flynn has publicly taken the position:

“The regime in Iran is lying to you and your negotiators. Period, stop. Do not believe a word they say.”........... "General Flynn got it right. The Iranian negotiators were playing out a lesson taught by Mohammed himself. What the Iranians have been doing is engaging in the Islamic practice of hudna, the practice of calling for a truce while preparing for war."

Iran will not honor any agreement any more than did the Barbary pirates in the early 1800's.  They cut a deal and then things changed, they renege because that's Islam.   What's worse is Trump gave the impression to the civilian population of Iran he was going to take out this regime:

.....Trump told the Iranians, who were still demonstrating in the street by the tens of thousands, “Help is on the way”. But help did not come, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the multi-service primary force of the Iranian Armed Forces that is now thought to be running the country with an iron fist, murdered nearly forty thousand demonstrators and publicly executed many more, imprisoning and torturing others with extraordinary cruelty.

Thousands rose up and thousands were executed.  Iranians facea reign of terror, and it's not going to stop with this agreement.  As far as I can tell, this agreement doesn't require Iran to stop murdering their people, nor can it prevent it.  And if it did, it wouldn't be enforceable.  As it turns out this deal is already starting to unravel and it's not even in effect yet.

No nukes and no money?  Right, but what about the billions in ‘humanitarian aid’.  Of course those billions can only be used for humanitarian purposes, just like the billions Obama/Biden gave to Iran.  In the past it appears that humanitarian aid in Iran meant supplying arms to terrorists organizations, but they'll be good this time.  Right?  Does anyone besides me find his abandonment of Lebanon troubling? And does it appear to anyone besides me his reasoning is very similar to the Islam/leftist rhetoric we've seen so often?

In spite of his "promises" to the Iranian people what he really wanted wasn't the elimination of a terror sponsoring regime, his plan was for a universal Abraham Accords in the Middle East, creating a binding economic environment that would overcome Iran's form of Islamic ideology.  That's delusional.

With the views expressed by his son-in-law and Steven Witkoff I wondered why they were involved in the negotiations.  Now we know.  But his real goal.... at least it seems to me .......... is his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize.   You know, the one awarded to Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama.

History is the touchstone of truth and the creator of long term vision because the patterns of life repeat over and over again, people will be people, and Islam will never be a fit partner with western civilization. That's history and that history is incontestable.  It appears Trump doesn't read history books.

P&D Geopolitics Edition

By Rich Kozlovich

Recently we saw where Russia's Putin, China's Xi, and India's Modi met at a Shanghai Cooperation Organization conference that drew:

"over 20 regional leaders and featured speeches that subtly rebuked US foreign policy. Xi urged members to reject "Cold War mentality" and "bloc confrontation," while Modi endorsed multilateralism and a larger global role for countries like India."

And then they all held hands and sang kumbaya declaring undying love and a feeling of "peace and stability between them" creating an alliance to stand against Trump's tariffs.  Which made great press and great opportunities for lots and lots of CO2 being expelled by talking heads, but it's a load of horsepucky.

As for me, I just shook my head, rolled my eyes, and chuckled.  China wants to end the Cold War mentality?  Really?  By whom?  Certainly not China based on all their actions to date.  And Modi wants the world to embrace multilateralism, whatever the heck that really means.  I'm betting he defines that as meaning they want Russia, China, India and the U.S. to work together as "equals", allowing the three of them to rape America and share in the wealth equally, leaving America dying.  At least they're consistent.

These three nation have hated each other for centuries.  It's part of their foundational social paradigm, and for good reason as they're been at odds militarily for centuries.

Recently China and India were exchanging fire in the Himalayas.  Why in the world would anyone go to war over mountains that have no economic value, yet China keeps provoking India over .... mountains!  They don't care about owning mountains, they care about intimidating their neighbors.  China has been playing the bully boy role throughout all of South East Asia, and is still doing so in the South China Sea demanding control of international waters and even attacking Philippine fishing vessels in what is clearly Philippine's waters.

  1. Deadly Incident at Sea Heightens China-Taiwan Tensions -Beijing is seizing on the death of two Chinese fishermen to exercise greater control around Taiwan's Kinmen islands, raising the risk of more dangerous encounters in the area.
  2. Chicoms overfish, leave trash all around South America's waters -- and it's worse than it looks - The United Nations says they've done a bang-up job depleting 90% of the world's fishing stocks with their illegal poaching. So much for China's lip service to the environment.

This must be what Xi means when he meant when at this conference he:

"...........unveiled the Global Governance Initiative, a five-point plan calling for adherence to international law, support for multilateralism, rejection of double standards and equal participation in global governance regardless of a country's size or power."  Xi also proposed creating an SCO Universal Center for Countering Security Challenges and Threats and establishing an SCO Development Bank to deepen security and economic cooperation.

In short, he's saying I'm broke, and I need access to other people's money, and I'll be saying anything it takes to con others into this scheme so I can continue to exploit the nations around me.  China's  spending massive amounts of dollars they don't have on their military and their economy is heading down the tubes, especially after their years long real estate crash, that's not going away.

In April of last year the CCP implemented:

......more aggressive laws and policies that favor Chinese companies, especially its state-owned companies. Its new foreign relations and espionage laws, which went into effect last year, open the door to more protectionist meddling. As Michael House, a partner at Perkins Coie gently put it, “The current environment lends itself to more occasions where a regulator or someone in the government in China may choose to take action that is non-transparent.” The reality is the CCP can do whatever it wants. Just ask the folks at Bain & Co. and other US consultancies that China raided last year.

That was from an article at Mauldin Economics, and it confirms doing business with China is like taking a viper to bed.

China is a nightmare, not only for the world, but even worse for the Chinese people.  These vile disgusting monsters are murdering people for their organs and persecuting anyone they deem "radical", such as the Falun Gong.  We've known about this for over 2o years, and we're still playing patty cake over economic issues with them.

After their Third Plenary Session of the Communist Party's Central Committee ended in July of 2024 the conclusion was, Xi was in charge, he will decide what goes on economically, internationally, and domestically, and anyone who didn't like it was in deep trouble because no disharmony will be tolerated.  "Days of balderdash, and untold pages of jabberwocky, just to say that."  But it's not appreciated in China, especially among the young.

China's economy is smoke and mirrors.  I've been saying that for years, in opposition to the conventional wisdom I might add, and everything being reported shows it's true.

  1. Geopolitical Futures reported that fear of U.S. secondary sanctions led several banks to stop accepting yuan payments from Russia. Why?
  2. While publicly China still welcomes Russian business, they're more concerned about American business and work to avoid sanctions. Why?
  3. Would America care if China sanctioned American business? There would be some in the commercial sector that would, but overall, America wouldn't care.  Why?

The answers to all these "why" questions?  We don't need them, they need us.

China's spending massive amounts of dollars on their military they don't have.  Why?  Xi's not going to attack America, Japan, Philippines, or even Taiwan for that matter, no matter how much sabre rattling Xi might do, but India and Russia are doable.   Their economy is heading down the tubes, especially their real estate crash.

Russia's in deep economic trouble,  and in no way can India replace their economic ties with the west with anything Russia can offer other than oil and gas, and any advantage that may bring will be offset with tariffs.  But even if they get all the energy they can use in order to manufacture goods, where do they sell them?  Neither Russia, China, India or any of the 20 nations at this summit can create their own internal markets large enough to stand alone.

I've said this often and it needs to be said more than often.  There are six things an advanced industrialized nation must have in order to stand alone.  It must be able to feed itself, fuel itself, defend itself, arm itself, create it's own internal market, and pay off it's national debt.  The only advanced industrialized nation in the world capable of doing all six is the U.S.

If these nations decide they have alternatives to the West.  Well good for them, let's see how well that works out.

China and Russia have decided they need a pipeline going through Mongolia which would deliver "50 billion cubic meters of Russian gas per year via Mongolia for 30 years", but all the energy in the world will not resurrect a failing economy if they can't sell their goods to someone.

U.S. imports from China are crashing and it's possible China's trade with Russia will soon surpass trade with America.  Good, losers trading from losing positions doesn't make winners, but something I've been watching the last few years is China's interest in investments in Kazakhstan, a former Soviet Republic where Russian influence has waned since the Russo/Ukraine war started, and to the tune of billions of dollars and over 6000 Chinese backed companies operating in that nation.  China and Belarus have recently developed a defense agreement.  A defense agreement right on Russia's border?  Imagine that!   Does anyone think all this gives Putin a warm and fuzzy feeling all over?

As I stated before, Russia's in deep economic trouble, and Russia cannot in any way offset India's economic reliance on the West.

Nearly one third of Russian companies were unprofitable in the first half of 2025, the highest level since the pandemic..... the main drivers are a high key interest rate, rising costs and new tax rules. Coal mining, housing and utilities, transportation and scientific research companies were hit hardest.

Western sanctions have caused "17 coal-related enterprises to shut down due to Western sanctions and declining global prices"m and the "Ministry of Finance announced that it would hold auctions to attract 10 billion rubles ($124 million) in credit funds to cover the region's budget deficit and debt."  Worse yet, this major energy supplier is running out "of AI-95 gasoline in several regions.  Supplies have nearly vanished from Crimea and Trans-Baikal. Experts blamed supply disruptions and seasonal demand and said that if conditions persist, other regions may face shortages." This is more than seasonal demand issues.

Russia is fraught with supply chain issues with large numbers of companies saying they can't find supplies and no longer can access material from abroad due to sanctions and are trying to find material from Russian friendly nations.  But what happens when they get sanctioned?

The foundation of the Russian economy is self destructing in order for Putin to continue his war with Ukraine, using up manpower and resources his nation needs to survive, and Russia's problems are metastasizing, as they've triggered a response they didn't anticipate with their aggression in Ukraine.

Poland launched its largest military exercise of the year, Iron Defender-25, involving about 30,000 Polish and allied troops and 600 pieces of equipment. The drills, which run through September, will span much of the country, with a focus on operations near the Russian and Belarusian borders and at sea. They coincide with Collective Security Treaty Organization maneuvers in Belarus and Russia. Poland said the aim is to test interoperability under full-scale combat conditions, incorporating lessons from the Russia-Ukraine war.

Let's be clear, Russia's falling apart internally, and is facing a coalition of fifty countries condemning Russia and Putin, and Europe has found alternatives to Russia energy supplies.  Russia's running out of time.  Considering the size of Russia's military, and how little progress they've made against Ukraine, Russia has lost this war.  It's destroying their demographic pyramid, it's economy, and government stability, and the leadership knows it and fears the consequences of all that failure from an angry public.  Even in Russia that happens as we saw when the Soviet Union collapsed.   Russia's central bank says their economy is "in a dismal condition and its future outlook is bleak."

Putin is refusing to meet with Zelenskyy and demands.... demands mind you.... the right to "veto of any security guarantees or subsequent security assistance to Ukraine."  All the while continuing to strike "civilian targets", and it seems clear anything he may have agreed to with Trump in Alaska was a lie.

As for Modi's multilateralism, he's blocked Azerbaijan's bid for full membership, citing its ties with Pakistan.  Wait, isn't Pakistan an ally of Russia and China? Wasn't it one of China's missile air defense systems that shot down an India military jet?  Remarkable, don't you think?

So much for ending the cold war mentality, bloc confrontations, adherence to international law, support for multilateralism, rejection of double standards and equal participation in global governance regardless of a country's size or power", and creating a kumbaya "multilateral" world.  And as time goes by the number of inconsistencies, divergences and outrages will multiply significantly because that's who they all are, that's who they always have been, and that's who they always will be.

P&D and The Week That Was

Truth is the Sublime Convergence of History and Reality

De Omnibus Dubitandum, (Everything is to be questioned!)

This Link will take you to My Commentaries.

By Rich Kozlovich

The disaster of the Biden administration keeps unfolding as Congress investigates the AutoPen scandal.  A top Biden White House aide, Neera Tanden, testified how she was authorized to use the Autopen, explaining she would send a request to Biden's "inner circle" and get a response back, but seemingly claims she has no idea who in the inner circle was authorized to give her that permission.  Then when asked if she ever discussed Biden's mental decline with anyone in the leadership.....she said no, which is as believable as saying rain isn't wet.

A Democrat member of the committee claims she's lying, and has been told by staffer (name not shared) all Autopen uses were directly authorized by Joe Biden, yet there's evidence he had no idea about at least one authorization.  Someone's lying.   Her testimony lasted five hours, and I'm betting she'll be back, right along with this unnamed staffer who refutes her testimony.

Before this I pretty much thought this was good politics but was going nowhere because all Biden has to say is he authorized all of it.  But the facts and the testimony coming out makes me wonder if that will work.  As the author notes if people are found to have committed perjury and face prison time.... they'll squeal to save themselves.

Congress is also investigating what is roundly believed to be illegal fundraising by ActBlue, and Trump wants a special prosecutor to investigate the massive levels of voter fraud involved in the 2020 election. The DOJ just fired three "high ranking" prosecutors of January 6 defendants, and the Oversight Project has referred former FBI Director Wray to DOJ for criminal charges.   The purge must never stop, as the rot is deep and wide, and if this window of opportunity closes, it may never open again.

Trump's negotiating skills really are amazing.  He just brokered a peace deal ending 3 decades of war in Africa between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  In twelve days he brokered a peace deal between Israel and Iran.  He's also gotten Netanyahu to agree to end the Gaza War, and expand Abraham Accords.

But let's not kid ourselves, this Iran deal is fragile on the best of days.  Iran's rhetoric about destroying Israel and America is just as virulent now as it was last month, and should have been obvious to the most casual observer this would be the case as long as this regime remained in place, with them actually claiming all that destruction was a slap in the face to America and an Iranian victory.

Iran Threatens Retaliation Over Trump’s ‘Disrespectful’ Jabs at ‘Foolish’ Supreme Leader  Iran’s foreign minister has issued a warning over President Donald Trump’s jabs at the Islamic Republic’s so-called “supreme leader.”.......Abbas Araghchi accused the American president of using a “disrespectful and unacceptable tone” toward Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He demanded that Trump show “respect” or face serious consequences.........

Wake up, America, Muslims hate us, the game is not over when dealing with rabid ayatollahs who insist they're never going to give up on building a nuclear bomb.  As one writer noted:

Iran’s response has not just been military but also domestic. The regime has gone into siege mode. Internet access is cut. Checkpoints were established throughout the streets to inspect vehicles, and young people’s mobile phones were confiscated to determine if they had posted anything against the regime. Additionally, mass arrests targeted individuals accused of sympathizing with Israel or criticizing the government. More than at any time in the past, the Islamic Republic is trying to intimidate the Iranian people; in fact, it is trying to compensate for its loss on the battlefield and ongoing repression at home.

I've wondered why Trump made Israel stop their assault on Iran allowing them to finish the job.  Personally, I think it's because Trump wants the Nobel Peace Prize so badly he's allowing this fixation to mold his thinking.  A prize I don't think he'll get, but he gets it, he should reject  it.

There’s a movie about the K-19: The Widowmaker, a Soviet submarine, where a lot of brave young men sacrifice themselves to save the crew. Harrison Ford is the captain and at the end of the movie the remaining members of the crew meet to honor their fallen comrades he says:

“For their courage I nominated these men for the title of hero of the Soviet Union. But the committee ruled that because it was not wartime, and because it was merely an accident, they were not worthy of the title hero. What good are honors from such people? These men sacrificed, not for a medal. But because when the time came, it was their duty. Not to the navy, or to the state, but to us. Their comrades.”

I put this in the same category.  "The Nobel Peace Prize often aligns with Norwegian liberal views, undermining its credibility and purpose."  When an organization is so corrupt it gives ‘honors’ to, among others of ill repute, Jimmy Carter claiming he was untiring in his efforts to "find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights", when in reality "Carter's sympathy for the leftward and violent fringe cost more lives than it saved."  Barack Obama for doing nothing, and Yasser Arafat for the lie of trying to bring peace to the Middle East, "what good are honors from such people?"

The Big Beautiful Bill is now facing another road block, the Senate Parliamentarian, as she's gutting more and more parts of the Big Beautiful Bill, including Medicaid changes in order to cut waste, and her ruling on Medicaid for illegals, all of which will require 60 votes to pass, and GOP  lawmakers are to say the least... upset, and no one really believes she's impartial.

Where in the Constitution is there any mention of a Senate Parliamentarian?  There isn't!  It was created by the Senate and in 1937, and in point of fact the majority leader in the Senate can overrule her, but Thune refuses to do that.  And he can fire her, and since he's such an invertebrate in failing to overrule her, he won't fire her.  I keep wondering if the Majority Leader can do that, why can't the President of the Senate, Vice President J.D. Vance do that? The Founders would not recognize America today, and not because of the technology, because of what government has morphed into, the nation's values, and society's morality.

This week I have seven commentaries of my own, and I think they're really well done.  One video link, eighteen by others, and the six permanent links.  Enjoy!
