FBI's Gestapo tactics now spreading, starting with a police raid at a small newpaper in Marion County, Kansas

Last month, I had the privilege of spending several days in Topeka, Kansas.  I visited the statehouse to see its famed art collections. I had a delightful chance encounter with state Sen. Mary Ware of Wichita in the elevator on my way back home, who though I was bedraggled and tired, was pure warm-hearted welcome even after her own long day at work. She was a Democrat but she didn't care what my party was. She wanted to know what I thought of Kansas, as it was my first trip. I told her loved her beautiful state. She beamed and observed: "There's a lot more here than people think."  She can say that again.  Here's the news of what's going on just an hour and a half northeast of her own 25th state Senate district, according to the Associated Press:

MARION, Kan. (AP) — A small central Kansas police department is facing a torrent of criticism for raiding a local newspaper's office and the home of its owner and publisher, seizing computers and cellphones, and, in the publisher's view, stressing his 98-year-old mother enough to cause her weekend death.

Several press freedom watchdogs condemned the Marion Police Department's actions as a blatant violation of the U.S. Constitution's protection for a free press. The Marion County Record's editor and publisher, Eric Meyer, worked with his staff Sunday to reconstruct stories, ads and other materials for its next edition Wednesday, even as he took time in the afternoon to provide a local funeral home with information about his mother, Joan, the paper's co-owner.

A search warrant tied Friday morning raids, led by Marion Police Chief Gideon Cody, to a dispute between the newspaper and a local restaurant owner, Kari Newell. She is accusing the newspaper of invading her privacy and illegally accessing information about her and her driving record and suggested that the newspaper targeted her after she threw Meyer and a reporter out of restaurant during a political event.

 The details of what seemed to be going on, based on the reports out there, suggest that the restaurant owner seemed to be in cahoots with the local police and was going through a divorce with an angry ex-husband who was accused of leaking her driving record to the Marion County Record.  Those records revealed that she was driving on a suspended license after a drunk driving conviction, and the cops were doing nothing about it.............To Read More...

China becomes a roach motel for foreign investors

Thinking about putting your money into China? Think again. According to what respected emerging markets investor Mark Mobius described, the place has become a roach motel for investors. Money goes in, but now it can't come out. According to Asia Financial:............“I can’t get an explanation of why they’re doing this … They’re putting all kinds of barriers. They don’t say: No, you can’t get your money out. But they say: give us all the records from 20 years of how you made this money … This is crazy.”

That's expropriation, a communist specialty, whether the Chicoms are going to admit it or not. Not letting someone get their money out is the same as keeping it, stealing it, helping oneself to it. Why they would do this to a famous investor with a big global audience to let the other investors know is something of a mystery, this is tremendously bad public relations for them, but based on their other actions, it seems as though  at this point they don't care. Already we know they're getting mean, what with their crazed COVID lockdowns, which drew tremendous popular protests, their stepped-up spy activity against the West, their machinations in Latin America, their intimidation of their neighbors, particularly Taiwan, and their massive military buildup. My Take - For years I've written that China's economy is all smoke and mirrors and they're broke, and this is just one more indicator that's true.  When a nation that can only exist economically through exports, they can't afford to offend foreign investors. The only reasons for them to do this is because they don't have the money they're spending, they can't create their own internal market, they're demographic pyramid is in the toilet.  That means the big advantage they had has been cheap labor, but that's about to change....dramatically!  When there's less bodies to do the work, the more that labor costs. Unless they revert to some kind of forced labor, and that will send China down the toilet even faster than they're already heading.  Things are working out almost as good as it is for Russia and the EU. Senior-momenting with 'Where the hell is he?' Joe Biden

Joe Biden was out and about having another "senior moment." According to Bob Hoge at RedState:

President Joe Biden hosted the National Governors Association Winter Meeting in the East Room of the White House Friday, and he couldn’t resist the temptation to toss out one of his trademark not-off-the-cuff quips.

“Every time I hear ‘the President of the United States,’ I look around and say, ‘Where the hell is he?’” Biden said. The line apparently failed, as very few in the room laughed and some looked confused or concerned.

Which is telling enough. Biden has regularly been caught in "senior moments" even as he seems to deny that his faculties are declining. He gets caught being flummoxed or in a garbled gaffe, and then goes on to get caught in another, all the while saying "watch me" when challenged on the matter on a rare occasion by a reporter. He forgets which day of the week it is. He forgets which state he's in. He forgets which country he's in. He calls Kamala Harris the president and Chuck Schumer the Senate Minority Leader. Biden sneaking amnesty through for a million illegal border crossers

Sneaky Joe's new plan to steal the midterms

He stole it once, and got away with it...Why wouldn't he do it again? Which is the unfortunate conclusion from Mollie Hemingway in a new report in The Federalist.

Joe Biden has a new plan to rig and steal the midterms. He's not only doing it now, he's been working on it for a while. Hemingway notes that it probably isn't legal, given that the executive branch has no right to get involved with elections. As a result, Biden and his Democrats are really determined to keep news of its basic details from the public:

President Biden really does not want the public to know about his federal takeover of election administration. Dozens of members of Congress have repeatedly asked for details, to no avail. Good government groups, members of the media, and private citizens have filed requests under the Freedom of Information Act. Not a single one has been responded to. All signs indicate a concerted effort to keep the public in the dark until at least after the November midterm elections. The lack of transparency and responsiveness is so bad that the Department of Justice and some of its agencies have been repeatedly sued for the information.

When President Biden ordered all 600 federal agencies to “expand citizens’ opportunities to register to vote and to obtain information about, and participate in, the electoral process” on March 7, 2021, Republican politicians, Constitutional scholars, and election integrity specialists began to worry exactly what was up his sleeve.

The short way of describing the plot is that Biden has asked any federal agency that delivers government services of any kind to voters to be converted into a voting operation.

Any government jobs center is now converted to a voting registration or voter "outreach" center. Ditto for any health care agency, any college, any housing agency.

Worse still, the Biden plan involves "partnering" with NGOs, which are partisan in the extreme and not subject to government rules against partisanship or political campaigning to get the dirty work done:

Conservatives may be in the dark, but left-wing activist groups are fully involved in the plot. The left-wing dark money group Demos put out press releases immediately after the executive order was issued, saying it would be happy to work with federal agencies on the project.

And then the group admitted publicly that it “organized agency-based working groups and met with the staff in these agencies to provide technical expertise as they developed their initial voter registration plans, to ensure those plans reflect the knowledge and priorities of various agency stakeholders.” It also admits it “developed research and resources to assist and advance agency efforts to implement robust voter registration opportunities, including a slide deck explainer of the agencies’ potential for impact, best practices for conducting voter registration at federal agencies, and recommendations for modernizing and improving the accessibility of Vote.gov.”

All of that information should be available to oversight authorities in Congress and the American taxpayers paying for its implementation, not just the left-wing groups that produced it. Yet as of this publication date, none of it has been shared.

Bitter, hateful, ultra-partisan Obama-era leftist Susan Rice, who is now Biden's "chief domestic advisor" is reportedly running this scam and keeping news of it from the public, with presumably Sorosian NGOs serving as her handmaids. Anyone who thinks a federal agency that doles out benefits can't pressure recipients into voting the way they want them to vote is naive in the extreme.

No wonder Joe doesn't want anyone to know. Hemingway points out that NGOs played a pivotal role in swinging the 2020 election far enough into Joe's column for all the cheating efforts to make it come out a victory for him.

Now the Democrats have got a "playbook" and instead of retreating for a while now that word is out, they have stepped up their activity, yet shut down any inquiries about the legality or propriety of these projects. In short, that is rigging an election, which may well explain why Joe is so confident that Democrats in this swing year, where all polls show the public against them, will somehow come out on top, keeping the Senate and House.

Hemingway reports that among problems with this still-unresolved secret plan, which is being challenged by electoral integrity groups, thus far to little avail, are the implication of keeping the public in the dark:

Whatever the case, Americans have a right to know whether these bureaucracies that are meddling in elections have experts in for each state’s election laws, what type of training is going on to ensure that state laws are being followed, whether they are allowing inspections and oversight to ensure no illegal activity, how they are determining whether a third-party group is genuinely non-partisan, whether they are allowing state investigators to approve money, and how much is being spent on this federal takeover of elections.

It's outrageous. It's little more than Hugo Chavez-style rigging, a sure sign of a deteriorating democracy. Beneath the dotardly grandfather image is a completely unethical and evil old man, surrounded by corrupt minions.

If the courts can't bust open this sleazy conspiracy with Joe's busy little minions at work, what chance do we as voters have? Perhaps only that if the midterms are not close, they can't cheat. Pray it is not close.

Dick Durbin blocks documents showing Ketanji Brown Jackson's judicial record

The Senate hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's Supreme Court nomination are not going well. Senate Judiciary Committee chair Dick Durbin is blocking the release of documents showing Brown Jackson's actual record as a judge, taking a page from the tactics of impeachment-obsessed Rep. Adam Schiff.  That's how Democrats do hearings these days.  According to John Solomon's Just The News:

The Biden administration is keeping more than 48,000 pages of records about Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson from senators reviewing her nomination, including documents about her time at the U.S. Sentencing Commission that she has made a central part of her professional story.  Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is "hiding" records from Jackson's time as vice chair of the Sentencing Commission, where she championed leniency for child predators, says Michael Davis, former chief counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee. 

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said Monday that 16,000 pages of substantive content has been released on Jackson, compared to the 48,000 pages withheld by the White House under the Presidential Records Act and FOIA exemptions [and] "Durbin has refused a request by Republican senators to look at her records on the sentencing commission," Davis told "Just the News — Not Noise" on Monday, hours after Jackson's first day of testimony in front of the committee weighing her nomination to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer................

If there's to be no discussion of the Brown Jackson record, then it's time to bring out the frat parties and whatever it was she did when she was 17, complete with charlatan witnesses, just as the Democrats did.  I'd be curious if she ever shouted down a speaker when she was at law school, which, Yale Law students are learning the hard way, is not a sign of a judicial temperament.

The message needs to get out from Republicans that Durbin can have it one way or the other, but he cannot have both.  They need to read him the riot act and get the Brown Jackson record into the Senate hearings........................To Read More....

Wokester bloodbath: Blue San Francisco throws out three Board of Education leftists by monster margins

It wasn't even close. San Francisco Democrats turned hard on three far-left Board of Education members who kept public schools on lockdown, focused on changing the names of storied old schools to wokester specifications, and told Asians to go to hell on merit-based admissions to the few remaining good ones.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle:

San Francisco voters overwhelmingly supported the ouster of three school board members Tuesday in the city’s first recall election in nearly 40 years.

The landslide decision means board President Gabriela López and members Alison Collins and Faauuga Moliga will officially be removed from office and replaced by mayoral appointments 10 days after the election is officially accepted by the Board of Supervisors.

The new board members are likely to take office in mid-March. The three were the only school board members who had served long enough to be eligible for a recall.

The margins, according the Chronicle, were 79% to 21% to boot Collins; 75% to 25% to oust Lopez, and 72% to 28% to kick Moliga to the curb. As the Chron notes, they were on the ballot because they could be on the ballot -- the rest likely would have been thrown out too, were they eligible. The city will hold new elections in seven months, but San Francisco voters couldn't wait even that long to let these particular leftists know.

It was billed as "powerhouse to poorhouse," given that his firm was reportedly making $24 million a year.  Nevertheless, the press declared he had faded from the scene.  His Wikipedia page declares he was "formerly" one of Washington's most important lobbyists and fundraisers.  He'd supposedly retreated into...buying and selling and "gifting" fine art, which, in the Biden era, is interesting.

Aside from art, Podesta's kept busy.  Business, in fact, is booming.  And for America, that's bad news.

Bad news for Joe Biden: Public has soured on his big government expansion

Joe Biden -- a politician with a long history as a liar, prevaricator, plagiarist, machine pol, pocket-liner, political weather vane, election cheat, and general f***-up -- has one idea and one idea alone now that he's president: To expand big government. For him, there's nothing that can't be solved with money. He denies there are costs.

You can see it in his multiple stimulus bills and bailouts that got through thus far, but also in his biggest grandaddy of them all -- his $3.5 trillion government spending "reconciliation" bill he's trying to shove through Congress -- expanding government into free college, the green new deal, freebies for illegals, free child care plus no-questions-asked child tax credits, subsidized prescription drugs, and more.........So basically, Joe Biden's bet the farm  -- his presidential legacy -- on something of which the public has had a bellyful...........the more public learns about Biden's spending plans, the less they like them.

• The colossal failure of the Afghanistan pullout, including the callous abandonment of Americans in that hellhole. 
• The open border, now drawing in literally millions from nearly every country on the globe, with millions in taxpayer cash spent to fly illegals around the country to their destinations of choice. 
• The port backup off the California coast which has led to more than half a million stranded, stalled cargo ships -- and empty shelves at retailers. 
• The intrusive COVID vaccination measures --- which prevent those who say 'no' to it from participating in any meaningful way in society. The school closures and the forcing of little kids to wear masks even as science dictates against it. 
• Critical race theory, the hate-and-blame racism-obsessed philosophy which is as loathed among minorities as much as whites, foisted upon the public. 
• Corruption up the wazoo -- from CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky's jumping through hoops for Big Labor unions to Hunter Biden's big-dollar art sales, a likely vehicle for influence-peddling and bribes -- with impunity. 
• Inflation rearing its head in amounts unseen since the 1970s -- with gas, meat, spare parts, used cars, and other prices soaring.  Social media censorship for sure, given social media's revolving door with big government. And election fraud, lots of election fraud, with any measure to make elections fairer and less easy to cheat denounced as Bull Connor racism.

The Bidenites aren't stupid enough to believe their own propaganda about the Afghan horror.......... something that can be gone and forgotten if they can stay away from the cameras for a few days.  They know that this is a defeat of epic proportions. So we are indeed seeing signs of an administration in disarray.

So what does Biden do?  He goes into hiding, with Jill Biden saying he "could ‘project his leadership’ from anywhere".  Big eye rolling smirk and a chuckle, or even a guffaw, is called for here. So like Mrs. Edith Wilson preventing access to her incapacitated husband, Jill is calling the shots, and Old Joe is clueless.   For eight years I thought Obama as the dumbest President ever, even surpassing Jimmy Carter, surrounding himself with people who competed to see who would be dumb and who could be dumber. Obama is now number two and Carter is three.  The Biden administration make the dumbbells in both of those administrations look like Solons.

Then we have Jen Psaki on vacation.  Really? Now when Old Joe needs his number one fabricator, equivocator and prevaricator? His spinner of yarns and teller of tales is "on vacation" leaving the heavy lifting to underlings!  Imagine that!  However, while Afghanistan may not be a priority for Jen, she did have time to make this video, clearly establishing this administration's priorities and mentality.  Not to mention their degree of competence.

Then we have Kamala Harris who reportedly is really upset with Old Joe as she thinks they're trying to pin the blame for this fiasco on her.  So, what do we have thus far.  Joe went into hiding, Jen went on vacation, Jill is in charge and Kamala is outraged she's going to be blamed, which must mean her bragging about playing a "major role in Afghanistan pullout", was a lie?  Imagine that!

Remember how the media excoriated George Bush for being at his Texas ranch, with Cindy Sheehan protesting outside his ranch outraged he wasn't at the White House at all times during the Iraq War?  No particular crisis, just not at the White House.  How many times has the media ripped into Trump for going golfing?  Can you imagine what the media would be doing now if Trump was President and he went on "vacation" at a time like this?  

Whose kidding who?  

They're all in hiding because they've been sitting in a self congratulatory echo chamber full of head nodding economic, military and policy dullards and incompetents telling each other how brilliant they all are.  All living in a media supported wonderful world of imagination.  

But now they're confused and frightened, because they're now discovering reality isn't a wonderful world of imagination.  Reality is hard, it's often brutal and reality requires someone other than a cowardly dullard, his ambitious wife, and a band of equally dull, ignorant incompetents to do the heavy lifting.  Imagine that!

It's one thing to be ignorant.  That's fixable by learning!  But these people are arrogant, and arrogant people are never wrong and will revel in their ignorance.  As for Joe, after his totally lackluster career, where he attempted to monopolize being wrong for almost 50 years in government, Joe is the most ignorant, arrogant and incompetent of them all, and that was known long before this fraudulent election.  And who really knows Biden's real condition today. 

I never bought into anything saying there was harmony in this administration. Or anything that resembles harmony, and the reason why is because there's no one who is actually in charge setting the agenda and parameters of activity.  When that happens there are power struggles where major egos and major differences of view and differences in agenda come into play.  When that happens you get disaster, not harmony.

Finally, do I hear 25th Amendment anyone?  And Kamala just waiting in the wings.  Any bets on how that must really make Jill and her acolytes all warm and fuzzy?  Any bets on how that makes the Democrat party cringe?  What about the rest of the nation?  The sane in America cringe in horror and fear at the thought.  Only left wing lunatics are pleased, since Biden isn't far enough to the left. But no matter how left you may be, eventually it will not be far enough as there are no boundaries on the left. 

But no matter what, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, this administration and this Democrat Congress is a clear and present danger to America, and to the world.

Liz Cheney, flamin' hot hypocrite

The term "Republican in Name Only" or RINO is flung around loosely, but it doesn't get more deadly accurate when the person involved is Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming.

Having gotten herself a spot on House speaker Nancy Pelosi's 9/11 commission, and declaring that she was "honored" to have gotten Pelosi's own invitation (kid you not), she decided to horn in on the very real rift between Pelosi and her own party leader, House minority leader Kevin McCarthy, over the committee personnel.  That rift came when McCarthy yanked all five GOP nominations to the commission after Pelosi rejected Reps. Jim Banks and Jim Jordan as threats to the "integrity" of the commission, in an unprecedented move.  McCarthy said Democrats don't get to pick and choose their Republicans for the commission.

According to Cheney, as reported by the Federalist and Daily Caller, "I agree with what Speaker Pelosi has done."  According to Oil City News, a local media outlet in Caspar, Wyoming, she also said this:...........

Communist countries are renowned for their pollution, but China is taking it to a new level.  Here's their latest, which comes of their expansion into the South China Sea, according to WION of India:

Swarms of Chinese vessels have dumped human waste and wastewater for years in a disputed area of the South China Sea, causing algae blooms that have damaged coral reefs and threatened fish in an unfolding catastrophe, a US-based expert said Monday.

Satellite images over the last five years show how human waste, sewage and wastewater have accumulated and caused algae in a cluster of reefs in the Spratlys region where hundreds of Chinese fishing ships have anchored in batches, said Liz Derr, who heads Simularity Inc, a software company creating artificial intelligence technologies for satellite imagery analysis.

Which is disgusting. How'd you like to be a little sea creature and get that rained down? What does a coral reef look like after the ChiComs have dropped their dumps onto them? What's more, it's not just the open sea seeing this, it's pollution affecting nations in the region. Now that Neiman-Marcus has been openly looted, Target has cut its hours to stave shoplifting losses, and Walgreens can't take it anymore and has shut 17 stores, what does San Francisco's pro-criminal far-left district attorney, Chesa Boudin have to say for himself?

Everyone else is at fault. Oh, and he's got a good record, too.

San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin took aim Thursday at recall campaigns targeting him and other progressive leaders, saying they’re not about removing bad actors from office but instead about changing the outcome of elections.

In his first in-person discussion with an audience since the pandemic restrictions forbade gatherings, the progressive district attorney fielded questions at Manny’s, a cafe in the Mission District, from friend and venue owner Manny Yekutiel about his first 18 months in office.

Which is kind of ironic in itself, given that Manny's joint just got slammed with another round of anti-Semitic graffiti on that very same day, according to a separate story in the San Francisco Chronicle; unpunished, of course.  I wrote about the previous anti-Semitic attacks on Manny's place in 2018. The Chronicle says there have been a series of them since.
