De Omnibus Dubitandum

 By Rich Kozlovich

I well remember when Reagan was President and all you ever heard from the media was how dumb he was, and that became the common theme for the media about Republicans ever since.  Robert Novak, who I met by the way, wrote the book, The Prince of Darkness: 50 Years Reporting in Washington, where he discusses a sit down interview with Reagan and his TV partner Rowland Evans.

They smugly asked him who his favorite economists were.  Reagan thought for a while and then ran off his choices.  Some they never heard of and when they looked them up they were impressed and realized just how well read Reagan was.

They, like so many others, just went along with the narrative.  Reagan was an amiable man, and they, like so many others, made the mistake of thinking amiability translated into weakness and a lack of intelligence.  With Reagan, that was a serious error in judgement.  If Biden, Carter, Obama, Clinton and the Bush’s had a fraction of his knowledge, intelligence, experience and ability - they would have doubled their own.

This was sent to me by Hillsdale University from their Imprimis publication, January 1978 | Volume 7, Issue 1.  This speech, with highlights added by me, is in line with the rest of my posts today.  I think given what's going on today it's fitting to publish President Reagan's speech, which should be foundational to every article dealing with government and economics written, and remember, this was in 1978.

This piece by John Droz is Part I of a three part series.  I meant to start them yesterday and continue today and tomorrow but I had so much stuff to wade through it got lost, and so, I have to apologize to John.

Unfortunately I can't publish Rachel Alexander's articles but this link to her latest post fits in perfectly with today's theme.  Government isn't our friend, and in America it's supposed to be the servant, not the master.
