Walter Mondale, RIP

The news that Walter Mondale was in extremis had circulated a few days ago, and blurted out, predictably, by Jimmy Carter, about whom Mondale said on many occasions after 1980, “I never understood how Carter’s political mind worked. Carter’s got the coldest political nose of any politician I ever met.”

It is still not well known that Mondale considered resigning as Vice President during Carter’s infamous navel-gazing Camp David retreat in July 1979 that gave us the awful “malaise” speech. Mondale was conventional enough to know Carter had lost his grip................One of the more interesting stories of Mondale is how he invited a number of the prominent “neoconservative” Democrats to meet with Carter at the White House....Mondale knew the meeting had been a disaster..............To Read More....

My Take - As you read this piece you can't help by wonder what's wrong with Carter's mind, and even though the writer attempts to paint Mondale in a better light, you have to wonder what's wrong with Mondale's mind.

Carter's priorities were completely out of whack and his understanding of the issues of the day were either negligible or warped.  And from that base of ignorant mind projection Carter created the Carter Center to help on foreign affairs, and most of that, at least in my opinion, was predicated of the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt.  But the truth is journalist Mike Wallace probably had more to do with making that happen than did Jimmy Carter, who merely was the beneficiary.
