Comey: A theory

Why did he do it? FBI Director James Comey spent 14 minutes laying out an unassailable case for prosecuting Hillary Clinton for the mishandling of classified material. Then at literally the last minute, he recommended against prosecution.

This is baffling. Under the statute (18 U.S.C. section 793(f)), it’s a felony to mishandle classified information either intentionally or “through gross negligence.” The evidence, as outlined by Comey, is overwhelming........ Just last year, the Justice Department successfully prosecuted naval reservist Bryan Nishimura, who improperly downloaded classified material to his personal, unclassified electronic devices. The government admitted that there was no evidence that Nishimura intended to distribute the material to others. Nonetheless, he was sentenced to two years of probation, fined and forever prohibited from seeking a security clearance, which effectively kills any chance of working in national security.  So why not Hillary Clinton? ........Prosecuting under current circumstances would have upended and redirected an already year-long presidential selection process. In my view, Comey didn’t want to be remembered as the man who irreversibly altered the course of American political history......To Read More.....

My Take - For all Krauthammer's much touted intelligence I think he's an idiot, and have thought so for some time.  His argument is nonsense, along with the Roberts example.  If Hillary murdered someone would that justify ignoring the law?  This isn't a politcal issue, it's an issue of law! And she's seriously violated it over and over again and everyone knows it.

Just like George Will he's always managed to find a way to justify accepting the idea of holding out a helping hand to the left. And I think the reason for it is they're both over educated, undersmart and atheists. I've been shocked to find so many conservatives who are atheists have no more solid moral foundation than the leftists and can easily ignore what’s right and find convoluted arguments to support leftist positions - and that's the foundational argument he's making here - expediency justifies corruption of thought.

Although Krauthammer has done some good work, that doesn't give him a pass on the rest of life.  I have as little use for Krauthammer as I do George Will, Newt Gengrich, or John Kasich.  All sell outs to the left.   I don't know about Gengrich, but in Kasich's case he's not an atheist - he's a heretic!  But each and everyone of them have the same problem - over educated, undersmart, weird and suffer from a serious case of hubris.
