Please Don't Let Us Run Out of Scares!

I'm shocked it looks like I'll make it to the semi-ripe age of 75 next month, because during the course of my life society has faced one man-made life ending crisis after another.  Here's a list, not in any particular order:

• The nuclear winter, Global Warming, Global Cooling, Climate Change and the corresponding disasters these generate:
• Mega-famines
• Catastrophic floods
• Desolation
  
• Droughts
• Hurricanes
• Blizzards
• Heat waves
  
• Excess cow flatulence
  
• Disease, pestilence and public health:
  
• Anthrax
• West Nile Virus
• E. coli
  
• Bird Flu
• Swine Flu 
• Zika Virus
• SARS 
• Covid 19
• Repetitive Strain Injury
• Death by fluoride
• Cancer from chlorine in my water
• Cancer by unknown other agents
•  DDT and all other pesticides
•  BSE beef that would eat our brains
• Vaccinations
• ADHD
• Endocrine Disruption
  
• Toxic PVC
  
• Poisonous breast implants
• The population bomb
  
• Diminishing population 
  
• The Mayan calendar 2012 end of the planet prediction
  
• Acid rain
• Depleted forests
• WW III with N. Korea
• ISIS
  
• Y2K
• One Chernobyl catastrophe after another
• GM food
• Running out of oil, gas, silver, tin, uranium, aluminum, copper, lead and zinc
• Endocrine disruption.
• The sixth mass extinction

Shocking how we managed to survive all of these disasters!  Oh, wait......wait.......none of those 'disasters' occurred!  Did they?  No, they didn't!  Wow! Does that mean we can stop worrying and ignore these scares as mere scare mongering?

 

Absolutely not! 

 

There is still hope for a man-made worldwide life ending disaster - anthropogenic global warming/cooling/climate change.  The left hasn't abandoned that yet, and there's hope they can extend the hysteria around Covid 19 for another year.   And of course there's the collapse of the world’s economy.

 

However, since neither Global Warming, nor this latest virus hysteria is playing well with the public, a growing number of scientists are bringing up a couple of old scares that was on the back burner.  The Sixth Mass Extinction, and endocrine disruption. Thank goodness for back burner issues.  Right?

I was afraid we would have to abandon our national penchant for serial panic as a societal paradigm. Whew...that is a relief! For a second there I even thought we might have to start using reason and logic based on real science and history in our decision making.   Now that's really scary!  We need scaremongering for the public good! 

That's right, for the public good!  We need to thank the Main Stream Media, the environmental movement and their allies at the federal government, and left wing politicians for keeping us off balance.  If we didn’t have them screaming "disaster" on a daily basis can you imagine what a mess it would be with all these people out here walking around without some scare to outrage them?  They might even think they're happy because they're living longer healthier lives than at any time in human history.  

 

Now, that's just not acceptable!

 

That would create the worst possible disaster ever be imposed on humanity. The professional scare mongers would have to go out and get real jobs.  . 

 

Oh, and for those with little or no sense of humor - this is known as sarcasm.
