My Take - We need to abandon old paradigms regarding professionals and academics. In days gone by they were treated with a higher degree of respect and given the benefit of the doubt due to their supposed intelligence, their education and their field of practice. But people - irrespective of position - are still people and will be impacted by the societal paradigms in which they grew up and live with. Society has abandoned traditional values - why would we expect anything different from professionals.
