Surprising New Evidence Shows Bias in Police Use of Force but Not in Shootings, The Times is surprised. We’re not.  A new study confirms that black men and women are treated differently in the hands of law enforcement. They are more likely to be touched, handcuffed, pushed to the ground or pepper-sprayed by a police officer, even after accounting for how, where and when they encounter the police. But when it comes to the most lethal form of force–police shootings–the study finds no racial bias. “It is the most surprising result of my career,” said Roland G. Fryer Jr., the author of the study and a professor of economics at Harvard. The study examined more than 1,000 shootings in 10 major police departments, in Texas, Florida and California.....

Man Fires 17 Shots into Officer’s Patrol Car and Home, Screams He Hates Police,   March Eugene Ratney, according to Department of Correction records, wasn’t due to be released from prison until this past June 6 after serving half of a 12-year sentence following his conviction as a serious violent felon with a weapon. Ten days later, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were called to an east side address where Ratney’s sister said he had pulled a gun and threatened to kill her.  Investigators now report, and neighbors confirmed, Ratney, on parole, was the man clad in a Black Lives Matter t-shirt and screaming profanities at police, who shot up an IMPD officer’s house not far from his own home early this morning.  The officer and his family were uninjured......His shirt read “fuck the police” on the front and “black lives matter” on the back....

 

Will Hillary Ditch Black Lives Matter?,   If she doesn’t it could cost her the election....After the massacre of five Dallas cops, during a protest of police shootings of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota, President Obama said, “America is not as divided as some have suggested.”  Put me down as agreeing with the president. For when a real powder keg blew in the ’60s, I was there. And this is not it.  In 1965, the Watts area of Los Angeles exploded in the worst racial violence since the New York draft riot of 1863 when Lincoln had to send in veterans of Gettysburg. After six days of looting, shooting and arson in LA, there were 34 dead, 1,000 injured, 4,000 arrested.  In 1967, Newark, New Jersey, and Detroit exploded, bringing out not only the Guard but the 82nd Airborne. After Dr. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, a hundred American cities burst into flame..

 

New Black Panther Leader: Blacks Need to Migrate to Five Southern States, Form ‘Country Within a Country’, “If black people move in, most definitely white people will move out.” Babu Omowale, the so-called national minister of defense for the People’s New Black Panther Party, says his group and allied organizations have their sights set on establishing “our own government in a nation within a nation.”Omowale was speaking in an interview set to air Sunday night on this reporter’s talk radio program, “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” broadcast on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and News Talk 990 AM in Philadelphia.Omowale used the interview to claim five states as belonging to the “Black Nation”: Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia.  The revolutionary stated: “We just need to start migrating back to those states and taking control of the economics in those states. If black people move in, most definitely white people will move out. So it’s not a hard process for us to have our own country within a country.”....

In Views of Diversity, Many Europeans Are Less Positive Than Americans, Poll suggests US may be the most brainwashed Western country.   The surge of refugees to Europe has helped make it a region of increasing cultural diversity and foreign-born populations, just as immigration to the United States has pushed its foreign-born share to near record levels. But a new Pew Research Center survey paints a picture of a Europe that is far less positive about what greater diversity means for many of its countries. The most common view among the 10 European countries surveyed is that cultural diversity is neither a plus nor a minus in terms of quality of life. In no nation does a majority say increasing diversity is a positive for their country....

To Get Tenure at VA Tech You Must Show Proof of ‘Diversity’ and ‘Inclusion’, Virginia Tech claims these are just “guidelines,” not “mandates.”   Six years ago the National Association of Scholars detailed how Virginia Polytechnic Institute had made a “troubling move to make demonstrating ‘contributions to diversity’ a requirement for promotion and tenure.”  The university had responded by saying its requirement(s) would be “reworked.”  And here is the “reworked” result: Its 2015-2016 “Guidelines for Promotion and Tenure Dossiers” include even more emphasis on the popular–and ever-ambiguous–terms.......

Harvard Study: Campus Scandals Devastate Enrollment, A scandal mentioned five times in NYT cuts applications by 9 percent.   Contradicting the adage that “all press is good press,” a new study shows that when colleges are shrouded in public scandal they can also expect a decrease in applications.  According to a working paper out of the Harvard Business School, scandals on college campuses that receive extensive media coverage lead to decreases in the number of applications that college receives...

 

Illegals Cut the Line for Food Stamps,  States don’t have to count all the income of illegals when calculating eligibility for handouts. Due to a quirk in the way most states calculate eligibility for food stamps, some families with illegal immigrants get favorable treatment over families with only American citizens, according to a report released Monday.  Under federal law, eligibility for food stamps depends on family size and income. States administer the program, however, and have flexibility in determining how to count income.  In all but a handful of states, the income is counted in such a way that a family made up exclusively of Americans or permanent residents who have lived in the United States for at least five years are deemed ineligible–while a family with the exact same income can be eligible, as long as some of the income comes from an illegal immigrant or green card holder with fewer than five years of residency......

Syrian Refugee Held in Indecent Assault on Girl, 13 at Lowell Pool,  He’s been in the US only two months.   A 22-year-old Syrian refugee is behind bars after only two months in the United States after he was accused Thursday night of inappropriately touching a 13-year-old girl at a state-run swimming pool in Lowell. In Lowell District Court on Friday, Emad Hasso, of Lowell, was ordered held on $25,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty via an interpreter to one count of indecent assault and battery on someone under 16.  Judge Stacy Fortes set the bail over the defense attorney’s objections, because Hasso’s only ties to this country are his family members with whom he lives. .....
