Michael Richard Pence, aka Mike Pence, is a good man. He is a Christian man and a family man. He is an honest man who served his state of Indiana as a representative and then as governor. Mike also served his country as a former vice president under President Donald Trump. Other good things could be said about Mike, and they would be true.

Unfortunately, Mike might be deceiving himself into thinking his good qualities are a reason for him to run for the presidency of the United States. This is not a personal attack on Mike, for it has already been established that Mike is a good man. However, many Trump supporters will never support his run for president, and the reason is evident to those supporters but not to Mike.

The US Constitution names the vice president as the president of the Senate. In addition, the vice president has the sole power to break a tie vote in the Senate and formally presides over the receiving and counting of electoral ballots cast in presidential elections. It is the second part of Mike’s duty, where he came up short on Jan. 6.

In the months leading up to Jan. 6, there had been much consternation on how the election of 2020 was handled. Many Republicans cited evidence of election irregularities.
