There's been recent talk of an emerging anti-socialist wing in the Democrat party by Dan Mitchell in his article, An Emerging Anti-Socialist Wing of the Democratic Party? Well, I think that's delusional. Dan graciously allows me to publish his articles, and he's prolific in that endeavor, so I really appreciate his allowing me to do so. Mostly I find his work insightful, detailed and well thought out, but occasionally wrong, at least in my view. This is one of those times.
I will be the first to admit Trump's nomination as the Republican nominee for the Presidency in the 2016 election was just as big a surprise to me as it was almost everyone else. However, his election wasn't. After all, the choices were Hillary or Trump, and most clearly thought Trump was the lesser of two evils.
Wow! Now we know he clearly was the best candidate the Republicans have had since Ronald Reagan, and may become one of the greatest Presidents in American history, and that was because the leadership of the Republican Party couldn't stop the base. A base who has been disgusted with the conservative talking but left leaning Republican leadership for decades.
After the 2016 election, which was a massive shock to the left and their media allies, I predicted that the nation and the Congress would become more divided than ever. The right in Congress would become more conservative and the left would become more radical, and it's happening, and that gap will be bigger after the 2020 election.
The Democrats are completely dominated by the radical left and those, like Nancy Pelosi, only have to fear those who are even more radically left than are they. But people like Mad Maxine Waters is safe because they're in districts that are as far left as any could be and she's as far left as they. Remember, there are no boundaries to the left, except possibly Maxine. If anyone were to go farther left than Maxine would require them to the institutionalized, and quite frankly, she's borderline.
There's no way a modified Democrat Party can emerge with the current ideological framework of the party. The money, the support and the votes come from the far left and that's not going to change in the near future, and they will never allow anyone to moderate their far left agenda. No matter how insane that agenda may be.
The closest anyone comes to being moderate Democrats aren’t Democrats, but are people who’ve decided they can define conservatism as they see fit, like John Kasich, Jeb Bush, etc.. And they’re Republicans......sort of.......maybe.....but no matter what they claim, they're not conservatives!
Who knows, perhaps they can get George Will, Bill Kristol, Jonah Goldberg, Justin Amash, Susan Collins, Lisa Mirkowski and Mitt Romney to join them and form a new party called the Main Street Repodemo Party who will straddle the fence, walk down the middle of the highway, promise to fix everything now broken by promoting the all the policies that broke everything, raise taxes, increase spending, and increase federal regulations on everything, including how much water a toilet can flush. Oh, wait, the federal government already does that.
That's the closest anyone's going to come to a Moderate Democrat Party.
Oh, by the way, Repodemo isn't a consolidation of Republican and Democrat. It stands for repossess the wealth, and demolish America.
