A Last-Minute Contestant for Politician of the Year

I was very confident that Senator Elizabeth Warren was going to be 2024’s Politician of the Year.

After all, not only is she a hypocrite on school choice and taxes, she’s also a hypocrite on the environment.

All of that is impressive, albeit in a bad way. Combine her hypocrisy with her statism (and her fraudulent career climb in academia) and she could be a poster child for oleaginous politicians. Not just for one year. For an entire century!

But I just saw a story about an elected official in Texas that makes me think the 2024 award is not a done deal.

Here are some jaw-dropping excerpts from a report by KTRK in Houston.

Serious questions are coming to light about Harris County Tax Collector Ann Harris Bennett’s job performance following a Houston Chronicle report showing the two-time elected official may not have shown up to work for years. Bennett’s office collects property taxes, processes vehicle registrations, and manages voter registration and records for Harris County’s more than 2.5 million registered voters.

However, public information requests from The Chronicle show she hasn’t swiped her badge to enter the office or any county facility since 2020. …Bennett has not been active online, sending a total of 18 emails since January. …Bennett earned a little over $171,000 in salary last year. …Experts and former holders of the office…criticize Bennett for not leading in public during times of turmoil and say voters should be concerned an elected official making a county salary may not be coming to work.

I imagine Ms. Bennett would claim she was “working from home,” but 18 emails in one year hardly sounds like she was active.

She reminds me of some of the foreigners (from Italy, India, and Spain) in the Bureaucrat Hall of Fame.

P.S. Here are past winners of my “Politician of the Year” award.

P&D and The Week That Was

Truth is the Sublime Convergence of History and Reality

By Rich Kozlovich

This week has been mind boggling, and the hits just keep on coming.  If you've found you despise the media, good, but you probably don't despise the corrupt media as much as they deserve, and for the first time the majority of voters agree, at least when it comes to Kamala.

I often wonder how some of these people who are constantly in the news function as human beings.  Former Rep. Kinzinger, of the J6 commission fame, just can't wait to flush Trump down the drain.  Why would he say something so idiot? Because if Trump is elected all those on that committee will come under investigation for their criminal activity in how they handled, and even destroyed the evidence, including him and Liz.

Then we have James Carville who calls the Harris/Walz act "classy" and the Trump/Vance act "trashy".   Well, I've listed commentaries this week about the "class" demonstrated by the Harris/Walz team, and it ain't pretty.  I've always thought Carville had a screw loose.

Time and truth are on the same side, and here's another example of how vile and insane this man is.  He's certifiable in my opinion, right along with Bernie Sanders who's just thrilled at the  strong Progressive agenda being laid out by Kamala.  Really?  What agenda?

She's shot off her mouth about "I'm gonna to this, and I'm gonna do that", and I'm gonna build 3 million homes in 4 years, but could only build eight EV stations in two and a half yearsShe's gonna go total Soviet and put price controls on food, rent, drugs, and well ________ fill in the blank because that's going to shift like the wind, and as in all price control schemes, disaster follows in the form of shortages, rationing, and corruption.   Monica Showalter calls it Castro writ large, and that worked out so well in Venezuela more than 40% of the population wants to leave.

That's history, and that history is incontestable.   I would also like to know where and how she plans on getting the legislative authority to do all that?  That's what's called an agenda.

So, where's the progressive agenda Bernie is so thrilled about?  There isn't one, and for good reason Democrats have "begged" her not to release one before the election.

Update 8/18/24, 7:21AM:  It appears she's now release an "agenda".  According to Clarice Feldman in her article, Two Heroes and a Marxist Airhead: She has finally set forth her agenda (until now it has been a secret with not even a hint of it on her website). It appears to have been written by slovenly kids who spent their college years in the student union advocating for “the masses.” RK

As usual, Bernie is a communist dolt, and if Kamala did release an actual agenda she'd have to do interviews to promote it, and she's running away from that hornets nest scenario like a sprinter at the Olympics, and for good reason.  The more she's interviewed the more doltish she looks.  Unless you consider her sit down scripted meaningless love fest with Walz, who has also developed an allergy to interviews.

The Democrats are trying to turn Kamala from an "unattractive border girl into a dazzling "joy-filled lady", but it’s harder going than in the musical."   This is scam to get Kamala elected President is shady beyond belief, and Kamala, the ’Vibe Queens’ campaign has no positive accomplished roots, and that's for every position she takes.  And now she's running away from Bidenomics, she's not having to address how and why the Biden/Harris administration allowed China to steal America’s intellectual property, something Trump put a halt to, and they reversed.  She's needs to justify their policies on immigration which has caused massive levels of criminal activity in America.  But that means doing interviews.

Then we have dingle-berry Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who's up for re-election, who wants to override the SCOTUS decision on Loper to end the Chevron Doctrine by introducing legislation to give bureaucrats unrestricted power to legislate from their desks based on whatever whim strikes them.   And make no mistake, no matter how they word it, no matter how they attempt to claim that's not their goal, and that's not what will happen, that's exactly what will happen because that's what happened unendingly before Loper for decades.

"The role of Congress is to pass laws, not push that responsibility to bureaucrats."

Leftists in government hate freedom, and they really hate having to do their jobs by passing legislation to address specifics in issues.  That might come back to haunt them since then the public would end up seeing who they really are, and most of the time it isn't a pretty picture.

America’s Millions of Fake Indians Outnumber Real Indians

January 04, 2022 @ Sultan Knish Blog

It’s not just Elizabeth Warren.

America has a huge “Fake Indian” problem. It’s hard to know exactly how many people, often white leftists, falsely claim to be descended from the nation’s early Indian population, but census numbers show either a massive population boom or a sharp growth in fake Indians.

According to the 2010 census, there were 2.9 million American Indians and Alaskans, and another 2.3 million who claimed to be a combination of Indians and another race or races.

The 2020 census however shows that 3.7 million claimed to be American Indians or Alaskans, and another 5.9 million described themselves as part Indian.

5.2 million to 9.7 million is an 86.5% rise. And going from 4.1 million in 2000 to 5.2 million in 2010 and then almost 10 million suggests that what we’re seeing here is not a natural increase that happened through a baby boom.

“Why the jump in the Native American population may be one of the hardest to explain,” CNN shrugged.

But the Census Bureau provides a simple explanation, “The American Indian and Alaska Native alone population grew by 27.1%, and the American Indian and Alaska Native in combination population grew by 160% since 2010.”

The biggest growth happened when the 2.3 million people who claimed to be part Indian in 2010 jumped to 5.9 million in 2020. That 3.6 million increase is responsible for the staggering growth.

While identity politics activists have claimed that the Census Bureau was undercounting the American Indian population on reservations, that’s not where the real growth is coming from.

The question of who is an Indian when it comes to the tribes is a fraught issue. Some tribes have attempted to preserve their population integrity with blood quantum requirements and documented evidence of ancestry, while others have thrown open the door to everyone. There have also been legal battles over the dubious move to count the descendants of former black slaves who belonged to members of Indian tribes as being enrolled in those tribes.

Some tribes are legitimate peoples while others are little more than legal fictions with white leaders who act as fronts for international gaming interests and shadowy corporations.

The membership rolls of even most legitimate tribes can grow a lot when money is on the table.

The Navajos boasted that they had reached 400,000 members, but an Associated Press story noted that, "Navajos also saw an enrollment increase as the tribe offered hardship assistance payments from last year’s federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, boosting the tribe’s rolls from about 306,000 to nearly 400,000 citizens.”

The Cherokee Nation shot up from 360,589 in 2018 to an alleged 400,000 now. Even media accounts conceded that "there was a significant increase in applications after Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. announced $2,000 COVID-19 assistance payments to enrolled Cherokee citizens as well as people approved for citizenship in the tribal nation by June 2022."

But most of the growth in the American Indian population is not coming from the tribes.

Who are the "new" Indians?

The 2010 Census Bureau numbers showed that 63% of the mixed race population "identified as American Indian and Alaska Native and White." In other words, more Elizabeth Warrens.

A percentage of Americans, especially in states like Oklahoma, have rightly or wrongly claimed Indian ancestry, but the striking growth in recent years is not the natural result of old family legends, but wokeness and career development based around affirmative action.

White people face growing discrimination in applying for college or looking for work. And for the new generation there is much less shame and fewer taboos around lying about race. Anecdotally, the number of millennials and zoomers who falsely claim to be black, Latino, Jewish, or members of any other minority group, has exploded according to employers.

Elizabeth Warren may have been a pioneer, but the number of fake Indians is growing sharply.

One author, Circe Sturm, an anthropology professor at the University of Texas at Austin, theorizes in her book, “Becoming Indian", that the explosive population growth among the American Indian population is actually driven by white people who are "fleeing whiteness".

But the fake Indians, like Senator Elizabeth Warren, aren't fleeing whiteness so much as they're exploiting a racist attack on white people that they've stirred up to profit from a minority identity.

And even setting up fake tribes.

Strum writes, "The number of these new self-identified tribes is startling. Over the course of my research, I discovered 253 groups scattered across the U.S. that identify as some sort of Cherokee tribe. This is a huge number considering that there are only 573 federally recognized tribes, three of which are Cherokee."

American Indian tribes have been fighting a rearguard campaign against fake Indians, but it’s one that they are likely to lose as the Left embraces fake Indian activists who are happy to put their fake identities at the service of their political causes.

The fake Indian problem is not unique to America.

The exposure of Carrie Bourassa in Canada, after she appeared in Indian garb and blamed systemic racism, was a major scandal in that country. Even more absurdly, Australia’s “white aborigines”, leftist academics, often blonde and blue-eyed, who claim special status and privileges because of their alleged aboriginal status, are a longstanding problem.

But the rapid growth of America’s fake Indian problem suggests we’re heading for a crisis.

Indian tribes enjoy a unique legal status that has conferred significant economic and political benefits. The replacement and displacement of the tribal populations by a new activist base entirely dedicated to radical leftist politics would be a new Trail of Tears, but also quite dangerous. And yet it’s a crisis that’s been coming since the American Indian Movement.

Between 2010 and 2020, the number of part Indians went from a minority to a majority of the American Indian population. If this trend continues, the vast number of people who build careers and public identities around being American Indians will be fake Indians.

America’s fake Indians already outnumber real Indians. And it’s only getting worse.

Elizabeth Warren’s Plan to Reward a Corrupt IRS

June 18, 2021 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty

The IRS played partisan politics during the Obama years by targeting taxpayer organizations such “Tea Party” groups. Now the IRS is at it again, this time leaking the tax returns of selected rich people to advance Biden’s class-warfare agenda.

There are two logical responses.

 https://blog.chron.com/txpotomac/files/2013/05/IRS-cartoon.jpg

  1. Cut the IRS budget so the bureaucrats learn a very important lesson that corruption is bad.
  2. Reform the tax code with a simple and fair flat tax so the IRS can be dramatically downsized.

I suspect most Americans would select both options.  But the crowd in Washington has a different perspective. Most of them like the IRS because it’s the bureaucracy that generates the money that they use to buy votes.  Many of them want to reward the IRS with more money (including plenty of brain-dead Republicans), which is bad enough, but what’s really troubling is that some of them even want to turn the IRS budget into an entitlement.

In an article for Reason, Eric Boehm explains that Elizabeth Warren is leading the charge for this reckless proposal.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D–Mass.) says her plan to more than double the annual IRS budget would allow the federal government to collect an extra $1.75 trillion over the next 10 years. …her plan seems based on little more than a hunch and some bad math. …Warren’s “Restoring the IRS Act of 2021” would hike the agency’s budget from $11.9 billion to $31.5 billion. …It would also…move the IRS from the…federal budget’s discretionary side…to the mandatory portion of the budget, alongside Social Security and other programs that run on autopilot. …In practice, that means giving the IRS a big budgetary boost and giving the agency the authority to dig through bank accounts and transaction records.

The Wall Street Journal also is not impressed with the idea of rewarding a corrupt tax bureaucracy.

Here are some excerpts from its recent editorial, which notes that the Biden Administration also wants to turn IRS funding into an entitlement  .

The Internal Revenue Service leak of taxpayer returns to left-leaning media outlet ProPublica is a prime example of why Congress should refuse to give the tax agency more money and power. That includes President Biden’s little-noticed but politically consequential plan to put IRS funding on autopilot. …Like so much else in the Biden Presidency, this follows the Elizabeth Warren model. …The IRS would essentially become another mandatory budget program like Social Security and Medicare. …without the risk of having to answer to Congressional appropriators for its budget, the tax agency would have little to worry about. …Their plan would make sure the IRS doesn’t have to pay a price in the future for politically targeting taxpayers or leaking returns. The potential for abuse would grow since Mr. Biden’s plan would also give the IRS access to bank account inflows and outflows. …a tax collection agency shielded from Congressional budget supervision is one definition of tyranny.

All of this is true.

But let’s also remember that the case for more IRS funding (whether as appropriations or as an entitlement) is based on nonsensical and self-serving estimates of the supposed tax gap.

P.S. For those who want to understand the technical differences between entitlement spending and appropriated spending, click here.

P.P.S. Entitlement spending is America’s top long-run fiscal challenge, so it’s incomprehensibly foolish to expand such programs.

P.P.P.S. The bad news is that Senator Warren is an unreconstructed statist (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here).

P.P.P.P.S. The good news is that she is the impetus for some clever humor (see here, here, here, and here).

P.P.P.P.P.S. And she’s a hypocrite who doesn’t abide by her own policies.

The Edict of Warren

By , Special to the Sun | February 15, 2021

The first thing to be said about Senator Elizabeth Warren’s plan for a wealth tax — she’s promising to release the particulars soon — is that it attacks one of the pillars of American greatness. It is hard to imagine anything more un-American than an attack on wealth. Accumulation of wealth is central to our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is the fruit of that uniquely American personality trait — optimism.

That can-do spirit has beaten the odds countless times, including all the Horatio Alger stories that populate American history. The impact of American wealth is not limited to the obvious manifestations of leading businesses and standards of living. It includes the universities, foundations, and private health, conservation, and other charitable organizations, which are the ultimate beneficiaries of much of our commercial wealth and are the envy of the world.

Yet attacking wealth is precisely what that the senior senator from Massachusetts proposes to do. Though she’s yet to issue the details, Mrs. Warren is now advertising on her Web site what she’s calling the “Ultra-Millionaire Tax.” It proclaims that a “small tax on the great fortunes of more than $50 million can bring in nearly $4 trillion to rebuild America’s middle class.” It adds: “It’s time for the rich to pay their fair share.".....To Read More....

People of the People?

By Rich Kozlovich

Yesterday I received two e-mails I wish to share with everyone. One was from someone in Our Group, my very eclectic e-mail group, and the second one was from Geopolitical Futures (if you haven't subscribed yet, do so), both dealing with housing.

I really enjoyed this first one!  Especially since Bernie is such a self-sacrificing man of the people.  You may wish to view my

https://i2.wp.com/freedomandprosperity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/IMG_0113.jpg

The second e-mail also dealt with this piece "Housing Insecurity in America", a free article, saying:

"The U.S. economic recovery is in jeopardy, with tens of millions of Americans facing eviction.....Housing security is especially important right now, given that the federal eviction moratorium is due to expire at the end of the year."

The article goes on to explain the hundreds of billions of dollars it will take to save small businesses and keep people from being evicted, which will promote a continuation of this delusionary fake economy.  One that will eventually come crashing down on the people these state governments abused and destroyed with their tyrannical pronouncements and dictates, including Mike De Wine of Ohio.  He's a disgrace.

Stalin would have been proud.  Why?  Not because we're now adopting anti-constitutional communist practices, but because we're destroying ourselves, which Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev and the rest of those vile, murderous swine predicted.

Da comrade!
