America Didn't Dodge a Bullet, America Dodged a Howitzer Bombardment!

By Robin Itzler

Editor's Note:  This is one of the commentaries selected from Robin's weekly newsletter Patriot Neighbors. Any cartoons appearing will have been added by me.  If you wish to get the full edition, E-mail her at PatriotNeighbors@yahoo.com to get on her list, it's free. RK

Critical Race Theory, AKA, "I Hate America"!

That is a fundamental truth, and anyone who doesn't think there's something seriously wrong with Tim Walz, is equally flawed, and there's no hope for them.

Have you ever heard of Brian Lozenski? You probably would have heard a lot about him if communist Tim Walz, governor of Minnesota, had been elected vice president. Lozenski is an associate professor of urban and multicultural education at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. (See where this is going...)

Walz’s Education Department (probably should be called indoctrination department) selected Lozenski to help write the statewide implementation framework for Minnesota’s new “ethnic studies” standards. Supposedly, Lozenski is the foremost authority and considered the “leader” of Walz’s ethnic studies initiative, which could really be called, “Reasons to Hate America.”

This is what Lozenski said in a 2021 video:

“The first tenet of critical race theory is that the United States as constructed is irreversibly racist. So if the nation-state as constructed is irreversibly racist, then it must be done with. It must be overthrown. And so we [proponents of critical race theory] can’t be like, “Oh no, critical race theory is just about telling our stories, and diversity.” It’s not about that. It’s about overthrow. It’s insurgent. And we need to be, I think, more honest with that. … You can’t be a critical race theorist and be pro-U.S.”

When the video was discovered in September, it was immediately removed from YouTube, most likely by Lozenski so his words would not hurt the communist-leaning Walz. This is another reason why children should be homeschooled or sent to private schools that share your values. It never seems to occur to these misfits if they tried to pull this kind of stuff in the leftist countries they seem to think are paradisaic, they'd either be imprisoned or executed.

Administration Transition

Trump's transition will not be like his first administration that had a chaotic transition because Donald Trump relied on many Deep Staters, this time he has been preparing for months. The rapid announcements keep coming and that means the left/Deep State keeps attacking the nominees. They are going after Pete Hegseth as a “Fox News host” but fail to recall these seven appointees who came from the media:

  1. Jay Carney—Barack Obama’s press secretary came from Time magazine.
  2. Linda Douglass—Worked in Obama’s communications office having come from ABC News.
  3. Douglas Frantz—Went to the State Department from his Washington Post job.
  4. Symone Sanders—Worked in the Biden administration after leaving her MSNBC anchor job.
  5. Jill Zuckman—Joined the Obama Transportation Department after leaving the Chicago Tribune.
  6. Stephen Barr—Joined the Obama administration after leaving the Washington Post.
  7. Tony Snow—Became George W. Bush’s press secretary after leaving Fox News.

As far as Pete Hegseth, in addition to his outstanding educational credentials, there is his outstanding military service (active duty and Minnesota National Guard) that includes tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, AND two Bronze Stars. Plus, his experience as executive director of two worthy veteran organizations: Concerned Vets For America and Vets for Freedom.

Will Blue States Turn Purple?

I get a lot of e-mail responses from readers and this one from Natalie O. from Arizona was particularly noteworthy.

My cuz I are close but on different political wavelengths. To keep the peace we stopped talking politics. After the election I texted her that I was sorry she was sad. Of course I was happy but didn’t say that. She texted back that she voted for Trump & I nearly fell off my chair. She said there were a lot of reasons she didn’t like him & listed them & just didn’t like the cost of everything & open borders. But she said the final push was that Democrats killed Peanut the squirrel. Natalie, that is interesting and thank you for sharing. Killing the pet squirrel showed government overreach.

You never know what will be the straw that breaks the camels back, yet this was so small, and yet converted a confirmed leftist.  I think this is a subtle demonstration showing there's a massive buildup of dissatisfaction in "blue" states.  With the collapse of the far left media, and a RNC that's going to make voter fraud a major issue, there might be a lot more purple states, even California.

News and Views: Cackling Kamala and Tampon Timmy

By Rich Kozlovich

Editor's NoteThere's a lot more than what appears here regarding these two, so make sure to view my

The daily meme from Walz, Kamala, and the Democrat party for days was ...."Vance is Weird", "Conservatives are Weird",  "Republicans are Weird".   Well, that didn't last long and the reason why is Vance comes across as smart, articulate, balanced, and the perception of Walz, Kamala, and the Democrat party was, and is they are the once who really are weird, and dumb, and as the weeks progressed, they looked even weirder, and dumber, which didn't seem possible, but there it is.   And this is the best of the Democrat bench?  Well, their bullpen of relief pitchers is even worse.

We're coming to the end of this story and I've saved an awful lot of articles about both Tim and Kamala, so it's get it out there time now, or delete them forever....which I'm looking forward to.  That is if Trump is elected.

Here's the gist of Kamala Harris' intellect.  I had a middle class upbringing (false), I worked at McDonalds (false) and Trump is bad (false).   Take away her cackle, her incomprehensible word salads, refuse to explain what her policies are, and flip flop on any issue that becomes complicated.   But she is sure on two things.  If you're an illegal alien she's gonna take care of you at the expense of Americans who need help, and if possible destroy Israel, support terrorists, and if you're a male in jail for committing crimes and you're a man who thinks he's really a woman, then she'll provide funds for the surgery.

What will she do about the national debt?  Raise it as Kamala anchors herself to Biden policies that are spend massively, borrow, massively, tax massively policies.  She's an economic illiterate saying she will insanely impose price controls on the nation, and she jumps back and forth on gun issues.  What does she really believe?  She's so special she should be President, in spite of a long and disturbing history of failed and lousy leadership allegedly around 50% of the voting population is still going to vote for her, and there are even people who claim they're undecided.  Imagine that.

While these articles aren't organized in chronological order, but the goal isn't chronology, it's insight to the character of "Cackling Kamala" and of "Lying Knucklehead Tim" so, let's start with this:

The Harris Campaign in Three Acts-  Consider that politicians are actors performing to obtain votes from their audience.  Kamala Harris has inadvertently presented her campaign in three acts: Act I: Honeymoon.  Act II: Run Out the Clock. Act III: Panic Ensues.  Along the way she made some unforced errors which have proved informative about her candidacy......

Kamala-Walz: An American Horror Show - Yesterday (October 23) morning Breitbart radio played audio of young people — mostly college students — and their reasons for voting for Kamala. I learned that these young people are not Communists. That’s too kind a word. To be a Communist or collectivist or socialist, you must have thought out the serious issues and either absorbed faulty premises, or reasoned to wrong conclusions. Not these young people. They said things like, “Kamala’s nice. That’s why I’m voting for her.” Or, “My political science professor supports her. That’s good enough for me.” Or, “She’s compassionate and understanding.” Good grief. How do they know this? Kamala is a figment of the media’s imagination. She’s almost not a real person. She’s just a projection of what we’re told we’re supposed to be — while she, and the people she answers to, literally bulldoze our freedom, our rights, our economic sustainability, our borders, our military capacity and our very civilization......

Who Is The ‘Real’ Kamala Harris? Who Is The ‘Real’ Tim Walz? Steve Rose Harris and Walz, with help from their Democrat allies, have almost successfully hidden their radicalism, but it’s there for all to see if one knows where to look.   The question brings up the commonsense idea that human beings can wear a mask (a “persona”) and pretend to be one person while actually being something or someone entirely different. It’s based on the age-old philosophical topic of “appearance versus reality.” More simply, it’s the problem of phoniness. This raises a question: How can we see behind the mask to know who someone really is? We know we can’t simply trust what someone says. (“I am who I say I am!”). People can lie or be mistaken, even about themselves. We also can’t necessarily trust what others say (“This person is who I say they are!”) for the same reason. As recent events have shown quite vividly, we also can’t necessarily trust media, “respected authorities,” “The Science,” and so on......

Believe them when they tell you who they are  - People of faith: The Democrats claim to hate everything you stand for. They’re not just kidding.  Can anyone put together a list of things that the left has done to make America safer, stronger, more prosperous, and more united? .....How much does their faith inform their words and their actions?  When you compare biblical teachings and admonitions with the stated goals of Democrat candidates, it’s difficult to find much alignment.....  Seventy-seven percent of Americans are people of faith, and we appear to be getting pushed around by a very vocal minority... if elected, they will not support religious exemptions for doctors and nurses whose conscience prevents them from performing abortions......Christians are not welcome at a Democrat candidate’s rally....churches should host same-sex weddings, religious schools should allow men to compete in women’s sports and share women’s bathroom and locker rooms, and faith-based charities should relinquish their tax-exempt status....

U.S. colleges and businesses should permanently sever ties with universities, research institutions, and other academic programs in Israel.... “Zionists” (those who support Israel’s existence in the Jewish ancestral homeland) should be banned from college campuses.... parents should not tell schools what to teach their children.....open borders are a net benefit to the host country......

The Un-American Socialist DreamKamala Harris and other Democrats keep talking about the American Dream, but their conception runs counter to everything those who’ve come here have believed.   Kamala Harris says that “the idea of the American Dream was something that previous generations could count on. Not as much anymore.” She sounds like an astute student of the obvious. When Americans have seen their disposable income go down during her tenure at the Naval Observatory, the obvious question must be, “What makes you think that you know how to do anything about it? But more fundamentally, what is “The American Dream?” Democrats will come up with enough BS blather that would properly dress one of Kamala’s word salads but really can’t define the phrase. All they see is that grocery carts have become the most expensive vehicles to operate and they propose price controls on the businesses with the smallest operating margins........

Modern-day traitors betraying the American republic  - This article argues that there are numerous Americans and political leaders today whose actions qualify them as traitors, betraying America’s very special republic.  Further, these persons need to be publicly called what they truly are......Millions of Americans are being subjected to very high rates of crime due in large part to the criminal actions of over 400,000 illegal aliens (including violent gang members) known to have previous convictions, many for murder and sexual assault.....Thus, we have a situation in America today where hundreds of thousands of known criminals have been allowed to illegally enter the country, thereby putting the safety and security of the nation and citizens at great risk in towns and cities throughout the nation.  What a travesty and purposeful dereliction of duty, all for political gain...... Why in Heaven’s name would anyone vote for people like this ever to hold political office in these United States?.....

Is Kamala Harris a Marxist? - A common metaphor for abductive logic says, if it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.    There has been a lot of analysis and commentary about last month’s presidential debate, regarding everything from the ABC moderators’ selective fact-checking to Harris’s statement that she is a gun owner to Trump’s reference to reports that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio are eating dogs and cats. Also remarkable was Trump’s assertion that “[Harris] is a Marxist. Everyone knows she’s a Marxist. Her father is a Marxist professor in economics. And he educated her well.” But perhaps the most significant -- and almost universally overlooked -- aspect of the debate was something that did not happen: Kamala Harris did not deny that she’s a Marxist. Moreover, she still has not denied she is a Marxist.............

Angry and unstable Kamala seems to need therapy - In my opinion, Kamala Harris exuberantly exhibits both transference and projection, and is in dire need of a good … therapy session.  Transference and projection are problematic traits inherent in psychoanalytic theory. In my opinion, Kamala Harris exuberantly exhibits both, and is in dire need of a good … therapy session. It doesn’t take a skilled shrink to diagnose her.  Just take what she says about Trump, and apply it to her.  Fits like a glove.   For example, she maintains that Trump is dangerous and angry, but that’s her all over......

Tim Walz's Insults for Elon Musk Are Getting Weirder and Weirder - As we get closer to Election Day and the Harris-Walz ticket looks increasingly desperate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) keeps going after Elon Musk. Walz has referred to Musk as a "dips**t", and even made fun of his gesticulating, despite how tone deaf such an insult is coming from someone like him. The vice presidential nominee is once again raising eyebrows for his obsession with Musk.

Tim Walz Gave Top Job to Prof Who Said ‘Irreversibly Racist’ U.S. Must Be ‘Overthrown.’ Macalester College Professor Brian Lozenski, appointed by Democratic vice presidential hopeful Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) to devise an "implementation framework" for "ethnic studies" in Minnesota, has argued the United States must be "overthrown" and "deconstructed, period," because it is "irreversibly racist.....

Tim Walz strikes a blow against democracy - October 13, 2024 by Scott W. Houghton - Another day, another Democrat griping about the Electoral College. Tim Walz has proven once again that our founding fathers were smarter than any of the Democrats who serve in our councils today.  The founding fathers established a form of government specifically designed not be quick and expedient, but also to garner consensus and prevent despotism and undue foreign influence..........

Walz announces his support for the abolition of the Electoral College, Harris tells him to shut his big fat mouth October 11, 2024 by Olivia Murray Conflicting messages coming from the Harris-Walz campaign—I say we err on the side of caution (and wisdom) and go with President Trump.   Conflicting messages are coming from the Harris-Walz campaign, with Tim Walz reminding supporters earlier this week during a fundraiser in California alongside Gavin Newsom that he supports the abolition of the Electoral College as a matter of policy.  Was Whopper-Telling Walz “misspeaking” again? Well, that’s what Kamala Harris would have us believe! Here’s the story, from a report out at Fox News:..............

Walz Thinks the Electoral College 'Needs to Go.' Here's What the Harris Campaign Had to Say About That. - A spokesperson for the Harris campaign issued a statement clearing up what Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz said about the Electoral College. During a fundraiser in California on Tuesday, the Minnesota governor said the Electoral College “needs to go,” though he acknowledged it’s unlikely...............

Harris-Walz Burlesque - Clarice Feldman - The old comic-book sea horse ads were better fakes than the Harris-Walz team is churning out. I’m so old I remember when we learned about advertising fakery by ordering stuff like sea horses and x-ray vision glasses from the back of comic books. Younger generations caught on when they compared what they’d seen in the TV ads with the actual products. For voters this time around all they have to do is scan X online. The sea horse ads were better fakes than the Harris-Walz team is churning out. Of course, there is the candidates’ utter failure in public appearances -- such as they are -- to show Harris-Walz viewers that they are phony, unserious contenders for the highest offices in the land.  My favorite satire site, Babylon Bee, nailed it on the public appearance flops............

Tim Walz is a communist wolf in goofy Midwestern clown’s clothing -October 7, 2024 by Andrea Widburg -Don’t be distracted by Walz’s clownish affect. He is a radical’s radical who should never be allowed anywhere near the White House.   As the campaign continues, there are a few things that are becoming obvious about Tim Walz: He’s a compulsive liar, which he dismisses by self-deprecatingly referring to himself as a knucklehead; he’s not the brightest bulb in the box; and he’s a mess of tics and bizarre behaviors that, in ordinary circumstances, everyone would find concerning. However, what shouldn’t be lost when viewing the clownish exterior is the fact that this guy is a radical’s radical, and nothing makes that more clear than what he’s done to education in Minnesota during his term as governor there. Few videos more perfectly sum up the Tim Walz shtick than this visual comparison between him and the late (and endearing) Richard Simmons:............

Walz Offers Yet Another Excuse for His Lies - In an interview on Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), made excuses yet again for his various lies about his background and his military service. To recap, over the course of the campaign, Walz has been caught in several lies. For starters, it came to light that Walz was dishonest about the extent of his military service, which Townhall covered. When pressed about it in an interview, Walz claimed, “We were talking about carrying these weapons of war…my grammar’s not always correct,” when talking about his service in the military........

Hell froze over yesterday as Tim Walz sat for a live interview on FOX News - Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) finally came out of hiding from the media yesterday and appeared for a live 15-minute interview on the FOX News channel’s signature Sunday morning program FOX News Sunday hosted by Shannon Bream.  The Harris-Walz campaign’s choice of FOX News for Walz’s first solo interview anywhere, considered hostile territory by the Democrats, was no doubt due to the fact that FNC is far and away the nation’s number one cable news channel, it boasts having more Democrat viewers than CNN or MSNBC, and it presented an opportunity for Walz to try to reach Never Trumper Republicans after a week that saw RINO Liz Cheney enthusiastically endorse and appear with Harris.  While Walz, like Kamala Harris, has been well-coached in avoiding and deflecting questions, his performance on FOX did not go over well — including with the left-leaning MSM............

MUST-SEE! Tim Walz Holds Interview on FOX News – Lies About Abortion – Shannon Bream Delivers Much Deserved Smackdown!  - What were they thinking? Who thought this would be a good idea? Last Tuesday, radical far-left Governor Tim Walz suffered a very public spanking by Senator J.D. Vance in the vice presidential debate on CBS. Even with the far-left moderators on his side, Walz fell flat on his face and looked like a deer in the headlights most of the night....

JD Vance Leaves Tim Walz All Alone in Very Awkward Moment Before Debate Even Starts- In an interview on Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), made excuses yet again for his various lies about his background and his military service. To recap, over the course of the campaign, Walz has been caught in several lies. For starters, it came to light that Walz was dishonest about the extent of his military service, which Townhall covered.  When pressed about it in an interview, Walz claimed, “We were talking about carrying these weapons of war…my grammar’s not always correct,” when talking about his service in the military................

Tim Walz Is Terrified Ahead of Debate with JD Vance, Campaign Insiders Say - Vice President Kamala Harris and her surrogates must have some special insight into psychological manipulation. Otherwise, one struggles to account for the strange reports and behavior coming out of the Harris campaign in recent days. For instance, on Monday CNN’s Edward-Isaac Dovere reported that Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota has fought intense nerves ahead of Tuesday’s vice-presidential debate against Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, former President Donald Trump’s running mate.........

Watch: Tim Walz Scrambles, Visibly Shaken After Moderator Presses Him on China -  Of all the possible lies about his past that Gov. Tim Walz could have been confronted about by moderators during the vice presidential debate on Tuesday night, the weakest was possibly that he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989. And yet, he still didn’t have an answer for it — acting every bit like a wide-eyed, panicked Don Rickles without the jokes, suddenly finding himself on a vice-presidential debate stage without the slightest hint of why he was there............

Comer Subpoenas Mayorkas for Information on Tampon Tim and His Connection to the CCP - House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) subpoenaed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Monday for information relating to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president, and a vague alleged connection to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Comer said in a letter accompanying the subpoena — issued on the day before the vice presidential debate between Walz and Republican Sen. JD Vance (Ohio) — that his committee received whistleblower disclosures about “serious concern among Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel regarding a longstanding connection between” Walz and China. .................

Tim Walz’s foreign policy could threaten national security - The FBI is silent. Will the Chinese Communist Party be able to continue its coordinated operation?   On September 12, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability renewed its request to FBI Director Christopher Wray for all information, documents, and communications in the FBI’s possession related to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) — affiliated entities and officials with whom Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has engaged and partnered. The third hearing on this matter was held on September 24.  During the hearing, experts detailed how the CCP has successfully waged an influence and infiltration campaign targeting critical U.S. industries and politicians.  Walz has made approximately 30 trips to the People’s Republic of China, beginning in 1993 when he was a teacher organizing trips for his students. According to reports cited by the committee, all expenses were paid by the Chinese government................

Walz Said He Was in Hong Kong During Tiananmen Square Protests, but Records Show He Was in Nebraska  - Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz once claimed he was in Hong Kong during the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre in China, though local news outlets showed he was in Nebraska at the time. 1989’s demonstrations saw protesters gather in Tiananmen Square from April 15-June 4 of that year demanding democratic reforms to the Chinese communist system. The demonstrations ended when the government dispatched troops to clear the square. Walz, in 2014, claimed to have been in Hong Kong in May of 1989 at a congressional hearing, the Washington Free Beacon reported. “I was just going to teach high school in Foshan in Guangdong, and was in Hong Kong in May of ‘89,” he said. “And as the events were unfolding, several of us went in. And I still remember the train station in Hong Kong.”......

Walz's China Stories Begin to Unravel, as Harris Campaign Scrambles to Explain Why  -Democratic vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota has made yet another trip to the Great Wall of Exaggeration in describing his visits to China, according to new reports. As noted by CNN, ever since 2014, Walz has been claiming he was in Asia on June 4, 1989, when the Chinese government launched the brutal crackdown on pro-democracy protesters gathered in Tiananmen Square.............

Caveat Emptor: Tim Walz and communist China - Electing Tim Walz to office means perpetuating an federal government in bed with communist China.  The Population Research Institute just released grave findings on Tim Walz’s connections to the Chinese communists:  Tiananmen Tim? The more we learn about Walz’ ties to China, the more disturbing—even disqualifying—they are.  The author of the Walz exposé and on-the-ground Chinese Communist Party expert, Steven Mosher, introduces us to the Walz of the CCP thusly:...........

How does the Left do it? - Why do some voters support people who demonstrate through their words and actions that they mean to do them harm?  The Left repeatedly demonstrates through its words and actions how much they despise the country and her citizens, even their own constituents. And yet some people still support them. Why do voters support people who demonstrate through their words and actions that they mean to do them harm?  There’s an old adage concerning an axe. “The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the axe because its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.”.............

Tim falls into abortion quicksand - Timmy blows another interview -- and it's all Trump's fault.   Tim Walz was on Fox News Sunday.  My guess is that the campaign was hoping to stop the critics who say that Walz avoids interviews.  After this morning, the campaign may stop doing interviews altogether.  Walz was incoherent on abortion. Let's check the interview: ............

Scott Jennings Rips “Buffoon” Tampon Tim: “The Only School Teacher Bragging None of His Students Couldn’t Go to Ivy League Schools” -  Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz has been ridiculed after effectively bragging about how none of his students are smart enough to attend Ivy League schools. The Minnesota Gov. has berated his Republican rival, Sen. J.D. Vance, for attending Yale Law School prior to his political career. Walz’s obsession with his opponent’s education caught the attention of CNN commentator Scott Jennings on Sunday, 29 Sept who described the Democrat as a “buffoon”......................

Minnesota Teacher Fired over Vax Mandate Warns: Gov. Tim Walz Is a ‘Petty Tyrant’ and ‘Not a Man of Reason’  - A college instructor who taught for nearly 30 years was fired due to the strict COVID protocols in Minnesota — just weeks before they were rescinded. Russ Stewart was an instructor at Lake Superior College in Duluth where he taught ethics, logic and philosophy. The school is part of the Minnesota State System of Colleges and Universities and, as such, Stewart was a state employee. In the summer of 2021, Gov. Tim Walz imposed a mandatory COVID vaccination and testing program for all state employees. It was a mandate that ruined Stewart’s career.  “I was quite surprised by it … things were really getting better and things were seemingly returning somewhat to normal. I was going to be allowed to be in the classroom in September, face to face for the first time in about a year. So, I was really surprised that he issued this policy mandating the vaccine or testing,” Stewart said.......

"Bias" Of Debate Moderators In Their Own Words

October 05, 2024/ @ Manhattan Contrarian

Usually, I don’t waste much time watching the presidential or vice-presidential debates; but on Tuesday I watched most of the vice-presidential debate between J.D. Vance and Tim Walz. I applaud Vance on a skilled performance. But I particularly want to comment today on the overt hostility that Vance faced from the moderators, which is unfortunately typical of the hostility of the corporate media toward all Republican candidates.

If you watched some or all of the debate, you probably came away with a general impression of the moderators attempting to help Walz; but without a transcript it is difficult to remember specifics. Fortunately, CBS has produced a transcript of the debate. So I thought it might be informative to go through the transcript and compile some of the more absurd efforts of the moderators to give a boost to Walz. The moderators in this instance were Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan of CBS. What becomes noticeable when you do this is the extent to which the moderators insert into their questions contested, or even clearly false, Democratic Party talking points as if they were uncontested facts.

The second topic of questioning in the debate, introduced by moderator O’Donnell, was stated to be “Hurricane Helene,” which she used as a proxy for supposed climate change. Here is the text of the introductory question:

Let's turn now to Hurricane Helene. The storm could become one of the deadliest on record. More than 160 people are dead and hundreds more are missing. Scientists say climate change makes these hurricanes larger, stronger and more deadly because of the historic rainfall. Senator Vance, according to CBS News polling, seven in ten Americans and more than 60% of Republicans under the age of 45 favor the U.S. taking steps to try and reduce climate change. Senator, what responsibility would the Trump administration have to try and reduce the impact of climate change?

O’Donnell takes her opportunity as moderator to assert as uncontested fact that “scientists say climate change makes these hurricanes larger, stronger and more deadly.” In fact, the idea that climate change is making hurricanes worse is one of the most clearly false and thoroughly debunked of all the scary claims of the climate scam. On Thursday, Gregory Wrightstone, Executive Director of the CO2 Coalition, went on the Daily Signal podcast to give an extensive refutation of the claim. The link has both video and a transcript. From the transcript:

I’m using data from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, from NASA, even the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change disagrees with her. They all say that there’s been no increase in the big hurricanes. . . . [G]oing back to 1850, we know every single hurricane that’s made landfall since 1850, because they’re hard to miss. And land-falling hurricanes in the United States have been declining. I’ve looked at that data myself. . . . If you look at the U.N. data, go right to the source, and they show clearly that extreme or natural disasters have been declining by 10% since 2000.

As to Helene being “one of the deadliest [hurricanes] on record,” on October 2, CBS itself compiled a list of the top ten deadliest historical U.S. hurricanes (maybe in a failed attempt to support O’Donnell’s assertion). It turns out that Helene has a long way to go even to make it into the top ten. Helene’s current death toll (per AP at 9:30 tonight) is 237. The number one deadliest Hurricane was the Great Galveston Hurricane of 1900, with a death toll given as between 8000 and 12,000. Other hurricanes with death tolls over 1000 occurred in 2017, 1928, 2005, and 1893. Others with death tolls of 400 and up occurred in 1881, 1957, 1935, and 1856. How this proves that hurricanes are becoming more deadly due to increasing strength in recent years is a mystery to anyone who looks at the data.

At the end of about 10 minutes of the candidates responding to O’Donnell’s opening question, she closed the topic with the following statement, again asserted as if it was an uncontested fact:

“The overwhelming consensus among scientists is that the earth's climate is warming at an unprecedented rate.”

Neither candidate was given an opportunity to respond, the the debate moved on to other topics.

The next instance of the moderators explicitly taking Walz’s side occurred a few minutes later, when the topic was illegal immigration. During his answer on the subject, Vance had said “[I]n Springfield, Ohio and in communities all across this country, you've got schools that are overwhelmed, you've got hospitals that are overwhelmed, you have got housing that is totally unaffordable because we brought in millions of illegal immigrants to compete with Americans for scarce homes.” After Walz had responded, moderator Brennan interjected:

[J]ust to clarify for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio does have a large number of Haitian migrants who have legal status.

This interjection came despite an agreement on a ground rule that the moderators would not “fact check” the debaters. In this case, while there might be some room for disagreement, Vance had far the better side of the facts. The Haitian migrants in Springfield have almost entirely entered the country illegally, but the Biden administration has purported to grant them something called “Temporary Protected Status.” So there was nothing false about what Vance had said, and the basis on which the Haitians have at least temporary legal status is a result of dubious Biden administration executive action. When Vance tried to explain that situation, the moderators cut off his microphone.

Finally there is the idea that any difficult problem faced by the people is a “crisis” that calls for immediate intervention by the federal government to solve it. As the debate went on, that became a recurring theme. First up, it was the “housing crisis.” From Brennan:

There's a shortage of more than 4 million homes in the United States and this contributes to the high housing crisis.

And then some time later, also from Brennan, it was the “childcare crisis”:

There is a childcare crisis in this country, and the United States is one of the very few developed countries in the world without a national paid leave program for new parents.

I think that the term “childcare crisis” is nothing more than a description of the fact — that has been true since the dawn of human history — that raising children is a difficult and challenging task. Fortunately in the world of CBS and other corporate media, such “crisis” and any others like it can always be promptly solved by the spending of sufficient funds from the infinite pile of loot at the disposal of the federal government.

Clearly, Trump has made a wise decision to decline to do future debates except on Fox.

Ya Just Can't Make This Stuff Up!

 By Rich Kozlovich

Tim Walz is a disaster, and the hits just keep right on coming.

Here's a guy who's referred to as Tampon Tim, and is ‘very unpopular’ in the state in which he's governor, and who "made at least 30 trips to China, many while he was a member of his state’s National Guard."  Now this:

"House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) subpoenaed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Monday for information relating to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president, and a vague alleged connection to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)", saying "his committee received whistleblower disclosures about “serious concern among Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel regarding a longstanding connection between Walz and China."

Is Tim Walz’ a threat to national security?  Clearly Mike Robertson seems to think so saying:

On September 12, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability renewed its request to FBI Director Christopher Wray for all information, documents, and communications in the FBI’s possession related to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) — affiliated entities and officials with whom Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has engaged and partnered. The third hearing on this matter was held on September 24.  During the hearing, experts detailed how the CCP has successfully waged an influence and infiltration campaign targeting critical U.S. industries and politicians..............  The FBI is silent......

Well, the hits just keep right on coming and all this is causing serious concern.  So, why did Kamala pick this guy, who unlike Vance, really is weird, or even treasonous?    It turns out Kamala's answer was, along with some word salad silliness, she picked him while "suffering from insomnia", and that she "was sleep deprived the morning she picked him."

Remarkable, and as I said, "ya just can't make this stuff up", and ya just can't fix stupid.

Harris-Walz: Joy and Freedom – or Misery and Tyranny?

Paul Driessen  Sep 14, 2024

Kamala Harris desperately wants to be “unburdened by what has been” – the Biden-Harris policies she helped develop and implement. She wants voters to focus on the “joy” and “freedom” she insists would be America’s future if voters elect her, Tim Walz and their Biden-Harris-Obama “advisors.”

However, she was the “last person in the room” with President Biden for major decisions and is super-glued to what she says are “still my values” about energy, climate, immigration, rioters and police.

She cannot run away from the horrendous Biden-Harris record on energy and food price inflation; letting illegal immigrants, criminals, spies, terrorists, child, sex and drug traffickers stream into our country; weaponizing federal agencies against political opponents and private citizens; and the Afghanistan departure debacle that killed thirteen US service members and left 90% of our Afghan allies behind.

As a 2019 presidential candidate she supported taxpayer-funded “gender-transitions” for illegal migrants. In 2020, Senator Harris was ranked to the left of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Vice President Harris proudly cast the deciding “yea” vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, the massive $4-trillion spending spree on “Green New Deal” wind, solar and battery projects. The list goes on and on.

That’s why she’s dodging interviews and presenting platitudes instead of policies. All with the happy collusion of legacy and social media and ABC debate moderators. All while anonymous campaign staffers assert that she no longer plans to ban fracking, offshore drilling, gasoline cars, gas stoves, plastic straws – or free speech by anyone who might question or criticize her policies.

Perhaps her nameless staffers are correct. Harris-Walz might not ban fossil fuel production and use. They might not ban misinformation, disinformation and “malinformation” from experts and citizens who disagree with administration assertions and policies.

But Harris-Walz and its Deep State bureaucrats don’t have to outright ban anything. They could just tax, regulate, delay, denounce, disincentivize, coerce, threaten and penalize our energy, freedoms and living standards into oblivion.

They could continue the Biden-Harris practice of using the FBI, IRS and Justice Department to harass, intimidate, prosecute and jail political opponents. They could continue colluding with the media and Big Tech to amplify Democrat viewpoints and marginalize opposing views.

Ms. Harris insists that her “values” and “concerns” haven’t changed. But even her official website says nothing about what her policies would be. It says only that she would create an “opportunity economy,” provide a pathway to the middle class, end price gouging (she called it “price gauging”), champion other progressive causes, and ensure Israel’s right and ability to “defend itself” (but “it matters how” Israel does so, and she will dictate those terms), while helping the Palestinian people “realize their right to dignity, security, freedom, and self-determination.”

Nowhere does her website or recent debate performance explain how she would make any of this happen.

Ms. Harris’s proclamations about lowering energy costs and tackling the climate crisis are equally vacuous and specifics-free. We learn only that Harris-Walz would build on the “historic work” and “international climate leadership” launched by Biden-Harris, to “unite Americans” in tackling the global climate crisis, lower skyrocketing Biden-Harris-era energy costs, “advance environmental justice,” hold polluters accountable, create millions of new jobs, and increase resilience to climate disasters.

How she would actually convert that pablum into her promised utopia remains a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside a word salad. Equally unclear is why the sitting Vice President has made little or no effort to change the Administration’s disastrous energy, economic, immigration and foreign policies. There’s still time for policy reversals and executive orders; Ms. Harris simply has no interest in seeking them.

What is clear is that she doesn’t want to talk about what she would actually do as president – and that the mush posted on her website was mostly copied and pasted from the Biden-for-President 2024 website. However, the posts clearly show Harris-Walz would inflict more economic, domestic and global chaos.

President Trump should have driven all these points home during the debate. He failed to do so. Now his interviews, campaign ads, rally speeches, and JD Vance speeches and interviews must do so – and show how they will fix our energy, economic, immigration, and Middle East, Russia and China problems.

A closer look at the Harris climate and energy record provides valuable information for voters.

Senator Harris co-sponsored the 2019 Green New Deal legislation, which would have “fundamentally transformed” America’s entire economy, in the name of fighting “dangerous climate change.” During her 2020 presidential run, she advocated a total transition to electric vehicles (personal, commercial and transport) by 2035. She supports mandating electric stoves and home and water heating.

Her all-electric economy would require tripling electricity generation – while her plans to replace coal and gas power plants with massive wind and solar installations would cause reliable, affordable electricity to plummet. Soaring prices for unpredictable, weather-dependent home, hospital, business and factory electricity would be paired with repeated blackouts, chaos, and heatwave and frigid-weather deaths.

Eliminating coal and gas power plants would also mean replacing their reliable, affordable baseload and backup electricity with enormous grid-backup battery installations costing tens or hundreds of trillions of dollars – and posing constant risks of chemical-fueled infernos.

Ms. Harris remains enthralled by “climate equity” and “environmental justice” – to address the disparate impacts the “climate crisis” allegedly has on women and people of color.

She would ban plastic straws but is committed to wind and solar technologies that create millions of times more plastic and fiberglass-epoxy trash that cannot be recycled and ends up in enormous landfills.

A single 350-feet-long offshore wind turbine blade weighs 140,000 pounds. The Biden-Harris green energy plan calls for 30,000 megawatts of offshore turbines – 2,500 turbines with 7,500 blades. The US Department of Energy says generating 20% of America’s electricity from wind would require 54,000 MW of offshore turbines; that’s 4,500 turbines with 13,500 blades weighing a combined 1.9 billion pounds!

Has she calculated how many plastic straws (or plastic bags) the United States and world would have to banish to equal that offshore wind trash – much less the entirety of Green New Deal trash?

VP candidate Tim Walz is equally radical on these and other issues. He opposes fracking, supports banning gasoline vehicles, and signed a law requiring that Minnesota generate only “carbon-free” electricity by 2040. Even without including the exorbitant price of grid-backup batteries for windless-sunless periods, that law will likely cost his state nearly $350 billion.”

The Harris-Walz “New Way Forward” on energy, climate and the economy has no connection to reality. It is devoid of any mathematical, engineering or even ecological analysis. It is a disaster waiting for ill-informed voters to inaugurate next January.

Joy and Freedom? Harris-Walz is a highway to Misery and Tyranny.

The Trump-Vance campaign team, candidates for other political offices and each of us individually must do all we can to ensure America’s voters learn the truth before they cast their ballots.

Trump Sentencing Delayed, But......

By Robin Itzler

Trump's sentencing bywas originally scheduled for July 11, but then delayed to September 18 following the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity, Judge Merchan now changed the sentencing to November 26. Marxist-Democrats are disappointed. They had wanted to shout, “Trump is a convicted felon!”

Did Marxist-Democrats want to brew a civil war-like situation so they could declare martial law and start arresting people? We had reached out to various authors and columnists for their view on the situation and what Patriots should do/not do, had Trump been sentenced to prison on September 18 for a “bookkeeping error” that no other politician has ever received prison time for.

Al Bienenfeld Contributing Columnist, American Thinker: Your first instinct is correct. They want violence to continue to portray Trump voters as insurrectionists. Just more J-6ers.

They believe we are as stupid as their base of trash (think James Carville and Whoopi Goldberg) voters. Combine that with the image of a man running for President sentenced to prison for an unnamed crime, and they think they have fixed an electoral outcome.

Judge Merchan’s instructions to the jury was that they do not have to agree on a crime, just think one was committed. They are going to go crazy when it fails.

I will attend a protest and send more money. To date I have contributed $350.00 over more than a year. The last contribution was for $100.00 after the fraudulent conviction. I will do so again on sentencing day as part of a symbolic effort to appeal to the rational people out there and hopefully attract the attention of the Supreme Court.

They must rule on this immediately. To press for this, we need massive protests and a massive financial message of support for our guy. They will do as they did on J-6 and send professional agitators to as many events as possible. This is their standard operating procedure. We must be vigilant.

Comrade Harris Campaigning in Blue States

On the DEMOCRAT side:

The presidential race is not what the MSM wants you to think it is. Otherwise, Comrade Kamala Harris would not have campaigned last week in NEW HAMPSHIRE, a solid blue state with only four electoral votes. She would be in a swing state where the race is very close (all within the margin of error) or she would be in large blue states that have double-digit electoral votes.

Instead, she was in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The Harris campaign had to BUS in attendees from neighboring Massachusetts.

Antisemitic Kamala Harris has appointed antisemitic Brenda Abdelall, an Egyptian American lawyer and former Department of Homeland Security official, to bring Arabs to the Democrat party.

The people who know Tim Walz best—Minnesotans—do not particularly like him. A recent KSTP/SurveyUSA poll found that of Minnesota voters: = 12 percent say Walz is a fair choice = 34 percent say Walz is a poor pick = 50 percent of men oppose him; 40 percent of the 50 percent called Walz a poor choice of a running mate.

On the REPUBLICAN side

The Walz family of Nebraska supports Donald Trump. They intimately know how horrible Tim Walz is and are warning Americans. (We wonder if they also warned Minnesotans about electing Walz governor.)

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GWoiZR-XoAAVG9u?format=jpg&name=small

President Trump met in Nebraska with the Walz family that has endorsed him.

On August 12, 2020, Liz Cheney posted on X/Twitter: “Kamala Harris is a radical liberal and supports dangerous policies that would devastate millions of Americans.  On September 5, 2024 in North Carolina, Liz Cheney said:

“...And as a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this. And because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I am voting for Kamala Harris."

Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance’s reaction to despicable Liz Cheney endorsing Comrade Harris:

>
“This is a person [Cheney] whose entire career has been about sending other people’s children off to fight and die for her military conflicts and her ridiculous ideas that somehow, we’re going to turn Afghanistan, a country that doesn’t even have running water in a lot of places, into a thriving literal democracy. And, for that, Liz Cheney was willing to kill thousands of your children.”

On the INDEPENDENT side:

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has been allowed to remove his name on the ballot in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas. However, attempts to remove his name in Wisconsin has been unsuccessful.

In his MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN quest, RFK will be holding rallies with President Trump and/or Trump surrogates. Expect enthusiastic long lines at these events, too. Speaking to the media (which neither Harris or Walz will do), RFK said:

“So, I will be doing rallies in each of those states over the next 61 days. We want to, if we’re going to accomplish the mission that I set out to accomplish when I got into this campaign — end the censorship, end the surveillance, to get out of the Ukraine war and unravel the war machine and the chronic disease epidemic — the only way to do that is to get President Trump in the White House and me into Washington. So we’re going to pull out all the stops to make sure that happens,”

As Trump has frequently told supporters, he currently heads the MAGA movement; but that movement is for all of us!

Do NOT get hooked on polling data from even supposed reliable people or organizations. For instance, Nate Silver is frequently viewed as a pollster to follow. The same Nate Silver who in 2016, consistently had Hillary Clinton as the favorite to win the presidency.

As to 2024, if we can make it “too big to rig” by “swamping the vote,” we believe victory is within reach!

Gov. Walz’s Legacy is That Majority of Students Can No Longer Read

Test scores in Minnesota hit a 30 year low under the former high school teacher.

Daniel Greenfield @ Sultan Knish Blog

Gov. Tim Walz has made much of being a former high school teacher in his political campaigns. The DNC brought out former students of his on stage and the media has rolled out adulatory stories claiming that Walz’s time as a teacher will help him shape America’s education policy.

The recent release of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) test scores for 2024 by Education Commissioner Willie Jett, a Walz appointee, were described by the Minnesota Star Tribune as “stagnant with only about half of students meeting or beating grade-level standards in math and reading.” The paper struggled to describe an empty glass as half-full.

The actual numbers showed that 49.9% of Minnesota students reached grade-level proficiency standards in reading, only 45.5% did so in math and only 39.6% managed it in science: a more accurate description would be that well less than half of Walz’s school students are proficient.

The educational glass in Minnesota isn’t half full, it’s more than half empty.

A majority of Minnesota students aren’t proficient in math or science and a little less than half can read at grade level. These are catastrophic numbers that show a school system that has failed at its most fundamental function despite billions of dollars in runaway spending.

The already terrible 2024 test scores are much worse when viewed in historical context.

In 2017, the year before the election that put Walz in charge of Minnesota, solid majorities of students were proficient in reading and math, and even science scores in the state were passable. Walz however ran as an educator and promised that he could do better.

In 2017, 59% of Minnesota students tested as proficient in math. By 2024, that number had dropped catastrophically by more than 13% down to 45.5%.

In 2017, 60% of students had tested as proficient at grade level in reading. Under Gov. Walz, those numbers have fallen to 49.9%.

In 2017, 54% of students met or exceeded test scores in science. By 2024, only 39.6% did for a decline of 14%.

The respective double digit education declines of 13%, 10% and 14% under Gov. Walz have taken test scores to some of the worst numbers in the state in thirty years.

And these numbers don’t tell the whole story of how bad things are in Minnesota. One analysis found that there were 19 schools in the state where not a single student was proficient in math.

Some of this can be attributed to Gov. Walz’s decision to pander to his teachers’ union allies in EM by shutting down schools and curtailing the education of a generation, but not all of it.

Pre-pandemic test scores were already showing declines and Gov. Walz has had years to turn around pandemic educational failures, but the former teacher who ran twice on fixing education failed to lay out any practical vision for turning around the failed public school system.

Test scores have been consistently falling since Walz took office. Math scores only improved by 1% since the pandemic and reading scores have been in freefall, declining year by year even since the pandemic and last year fell for the first time underwater below the halfway mark.

While Gov. Walz’s decision to close schools was disastrous, but things have gotten worse since. In his 2022 race, he ran on promises to further increase education spending. His campaign featured a commercial claiming that “as a former teacher, Governor Walz does what’s right for our kids.” But doing right meant throwing more money at political allies running a failed system.

The massive $2.2 billion education spending bill passed by Minnesota Democrats last year officially brought up spending to $7,281 per pupil, but not only is there little evidence that the per pupil spending ratio leads to improved education outcomes with some schools in the state that have been spending as much as $31,000 per student producing zero percent proficiency, but much of the money actually went to putting more of Education Minnesota (EM) teachers’ union members along with more administrators, school nurses and social workers on the payroll, and enacting a controversial “ethnic studies” program that critics say brings racism into schools.

A year later, most Minnesota students still can’t handle math, science or reading.

“My messages to families, to students, to teachers, to support staff is, ‘This is the budget for many of us who taught for decades,’ this is the budget we’re waiting for,” Gov. Walz bragged “This is the transformational moment.” It was transformational for everyone except students.

Gov. Walz and his party chose to spend $6 million on ethnic studies while students were struggling with basic skills. $135 million was spent paying ‘unemployment’ for workers off for the summer. Rather than funding schools, much of the new money funded social services, free meals, family social workers and even drug overdose prevention medications on site.

Minnesota Democrats have camouflaged social welfare spending and benefits for union members as educational spending, but there’s no sign that students have benefited from it.

The state’s powerful educational unions have claimed that Democrats are better for education, but test scores in reading hit a high of 74% and math scores hit a high of 64.7% under former Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, and have been declining ever since.

Gov. Walz was following the policies of a party that took reading test scores down from 74% to 49.4% and math test scores from 64.7% down to 45.5%.

Behind the numbers is the reality that 3 out of 4 students used to be proficient in reading, now less than 2 in 4 are, and 6 out of 10 students could count, now only 4 out of 10 still can.

What will happen to those two illiterate students and those six students who can’t count?

The Walz campaign claimed that he wanted to make “Minnesota the best state in the country for kids.” But in his second term in office, the kids of Minnesota can’t read, count or do anything.

The governor inherited majority proficiency rates in education in Minnesota and brought them down to less than half. That record may have more bearing on his education policy than his past working as a teacher.

Gov. Walz’s actual educational legacy is that a majority of students can no longer read.

Tim Walz and the Left’s New Masculinity

Is the alpha male on the decline?

By | Sep 8, 2024 @ Liberty Nation News, Tags: Articles, Opinion, Politics

With the rise of Donald Trump came the advent of an expression that serves as a challenge to men and women alike: toxic masculinity. It implies that men like Trump represent a caricature of all the worst character traits endemic to the male species. Of course, they are the same characteristics that have drawn millions to his side and accounted for his improbable ascension to the pinnacle of power. But if men are supposed to subdue their Trump-style testosterone, what is the new and improved model for the 21st-century man envisioned by the progressive left? Well, Exhibit A is right before us, epitomized by Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz.

While the 45th president jacks up his wild rallies with “Proud to be an American” blasting from the speakers, the Minnesota governor responds to his audience with the Hindu/Yoga namaste bow, meaning “The light in me recognizes the light within you.” This is perhaps the most visually striking contrast between the old and new masculinity. Trump is hard-edged and bombastic. Walz is soft and pillowy. Trump is the classic boy-daddy, Walz the girl-daddy. What Trump calls socialism, Walz calls neighborliness. While Trump warns of the dangers of an open border, Walz says he is proud to call Minnesota a sanctuary state.

But at the same time, Walz appears to be uncomfortable with how to play the new feminized man the left wants him to model. He felt it necessary to inflate his service in the National Guard – he quit when assigned to the Iraq War. He also embellished his role as a football coach, though he was a walk-on volunteer who only coached linebackers. And he is dressing in camo and plaid in an apparent attempt to appear more manly.  As the left-wing platform The Guardian noted in a piece entitled “Can Tim Walz’s wardrobe win the White House?” Walz’s clothes on the campaign trail are “all Carhartt, fleeces, jeans, Red Wing boots and worn-in T-shirts.”

Masculinity is in the eye of the beholder, one presumes, but Walz has faced his share of ridicule for the seeming contradiction between his appearance and his ideology. Jesse Watters of Fox News playfully questioned Walz’s masculine bona fides because he used a straw for a milkshake. Silly me, I thought everyone did.

Trump Alpha, Walz Beta

Whether it falls on listening or deaf ears, leftists are advancing the narrative that Trump and his alpha male-dominated supporters will soon be shown the door. “The MAGA movement is a kind of latter-day Ghost Dance: a desperate attempt to recover the supposed lost birthright of men and restore a perceived rightful power,” complained Salon in an article comparing Trump’s America First movement to the once-great Lakota Indian tribe, which “wished to make their nation great again,” but discovered it was “too late.” At the same time, Walz’s record demonstrates he all but embraced the uprising that burned much of Minneapolis to the ground, that he is soft on crime, encourages neighbors to report on each other, and supported defunding the police. These are not badges of honor for the alpha male.

New banner Memo - From the Desk of Senior Political Analyst Tim Donner 1

Could it be that Walz recognizes his brand of masculinity as unappealing to the average voter?

Human nature is such that people will often say they want one thing that sounds admirable, while in reality, they want another. Is there a disconnect or cognitive dissonance between what women say they want in a man and what they actually want? A conversation recently with my hairstylist (yes, real men can use a stylist instead of a barber) was quite revealing. This 30-something woman said most of her young girlfriends talk of desiring a man who is caring, sensitive, and not afraid to cry, but when it comes down to it, they almost always pick a more traditional alpha male.

You may recall that alpha male was a term revolving around Al Gore, the Democratic nominee for president in 2000, who faced off against the more macho George W. Bush. To make him appear as more of a manly man, Gore paid author Naomi Wolf $15,000 a month to be his “alpha advisor” and tweak his wardrobe to make him more alpha and less beta (the opposite, and defined more by loyalty, support, collaboration, and cooperation).

Testing Your Toxicity

Gore lost the closest election in American history, but the whole alpha male debate carried on, spawning all manner of “tests” to determine an individual male’s level of toxicity. One such questionnaire from IDRlabs.com offers 35 statements with which the respondent must agree or disagree. Some regard aggressive male behavior as “Men should use violence to get respect, if necessary”; “A guy who doesn’t fight back when others push him around is weak”; and “I would be willing to steal a million dollars if I knew I would never get caught.”

Play Video
Ditch the Diatribe – Try This!

Then there are statements measuring a man’s attitude towards women: “Men should be the ones to bring money home to provide for their families, not women”; “A husband shouldn’t have to do household chores”; and “A man should always have the final say about decisions in his relationship or marriage.”

Regarding a man’s perception of strength and weakness, the statements to evaluate include: “Guys should act strong even if they feel scared or nervous inside”; “Men should figure out their personal problems on their own without asking others for help”; and “A man who talks a lot about his worries, fears, and problems shouldn’t really get respect.” And then there are some behavioral wildcards: “A guy who spends a lot of time on his looks isn’t very manly”; “A real man should have as many sexual partners as he can”; “I have mocked ‘manly’ women and/or ‘girly’ men with derogatory sexual slurs”; and “If I discovered a friend was gay, I would consider ending the friendship.”

While millions prepare to watch the big debate on Tuesday between Trump and Kamala Harris, the issue of what makes a real man – and a real woman – circa 2024 will serve as a subtext to their joint appearance. The feminist movement that steadily gained strength in the last half-century laid the groundwork for the modern woman but not so much for the modern man.

Has the country changed enough in the last quarter-century, since the issue first came front and center in a presidential election, that a different model of manhood will prevail in the decades ahead? Have the betas now overtaken the alphas? That is one of the many foundational questions the voters will settle in November.
