If There is No Truth, Then Neither Heresy Nor Treason Exist!

I originally published this on October 5, 2014, and again on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, and for some reason it's being hit a lot now.  As I read it I thought to myself; I need to re-publish this again.  Remember, this was published 12 years ago, and look at how dramatically and quickly American culture has morphed into a downward swirl of insanity.  

This article is about foundational thinking. For anything to be successful it has to have foundational logic supporting all that takes place. For America, the Bible and the U.S. Constitution are foundational to the American story and the basis for American exceptionalism. Those are the two foundations I wish to ponder here.  The Holy Bible and the U.S. Constitution and the modern implications for both.   

There was a recent poll of U.S. Catholics taken that claims most Catholics back same-sex marriage claiming In an article by Lucy Madison which appeared on March 8, 2013 she states that:

"amid growing support for same-sex marriage nationwide, a new poll from Quinnipiac University shows that most Catholics in the U.S. also back same-sex marriage, despite the church's teachings against it."

She goes on to say that:

"According to the poll, which surveyed 497 adult Catholics from February 27 - March 4 with a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent, 54 percent of Catholic voters support same-sex marriage, while 38 percent oppose it. The survey shows a dramatic shift on the subject in the last few years: In a July 2008 poll by Quinnipiac, only 36 percent of Catholic voters said they supported same-sex marriage, while 55 percent opposed it."

Among 1,944 registered voters surveyed in the same poll, 47 percent supported same-sex marriage and 43 percent opposed it. A December poll asking the same question showed a statistical tie on the issue, at 48 percent in support and 46 percent in opposition." 

I'm not all that impressed with polls because they are so easily twisted, but for my readers who are believers, Catholic or otherwise, I think this is worth pondering for a while.  If this poll is accurate, it would appear heresy is far more rampant than most realized. It would also appear that religious conviction is expected to adhere to public opinion, which was predicted.  

"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear".  2 Timothy 4:3

Does this imply they don't believe the hand of God is behind the Bible?  If that is the case, and it appears that it is, what hope is there to get people to honor a manmade document such as the U.S. Constitution?

Believers are taught to believe the Bible was inspired by God.  You know, the one believers are supposed to be worshiping. Yet, thousands of years of Biblical writings and teaching are being ignored or twisted by those who claim to believe. If that is the case, and it appears that it is, then one would suppose there are a great many "believers" who think God lies, or he has no idea what he's talking about, or that the writings are solely the works of men, or at the very least, question even if he exists.  All that makes the Bible of no more worth than the insane ramblings of Karl Marx.   If that's so, and it appears it is, then they simply ignore the Biblical teachings and replace them with which ever philosophical flavor of the day comes down the pike. 

Truth exists, whether we like it or not. We don’t create truth; we find it, and we have no power to change it to our tastes. The truth may not make us comfortable, but it does make us free. How could such a thing happen in a nation known for its Christian religious foundation? This has happened slowly over a course of decades. This came about because the Bible, and the surrounding history and commentaries aren't taught in the churches, and neither is it done at home. All of which was done regularly in the past. Thousands of years of Biblical writings and teaching are being ignored or twisted.  

Public and higher education has been instrumental in undermining those traditional and foundational values that made the American culture possible.   Was the American culture ever perfect?  No, but with all our faults, still the greatest culture the world has ever known, bringing more people out of misery and suffering than any other in all of human history.  America never offered perfection.  What America offered the most acceptable imperfection.

Sir Roger Scruton once noted:

A writer who says there are no truths, or that all truth is merely relative, is asking you not to believe him.  So don't.   So then why is society choosing to believe those who shouldn't be believed, and ignoring those who need to be believed?   

Now we come to the finest secular document ever conceived of by man, the U.S. Constitution, which isn't studied in the nation's schools, nor is it read privately, which is far more easily read and understood than the sixty six books of the Bible, yet few have read it, fewer understand it, and as a result, few realize what's been lost.  

That leaves one to believe the Constitution, the second primary foundation to justify the American system, has little value to the average citizen because the history behind it is being twisted or ignored. Once again; the Bible and the U.S. Constitution are foundational to the American story and the basis for American exceptionalism.  If either one is discarded the great American experiment is finished.  

John Adams said, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Morality and virtue are the foundation of our republic and necessary for a society to be free.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matt. 7:26  

Everyone, believer or non-believer, can surely see the wisdom in that parable. Everything has a historical foundation, and everything we are told should bear some resemblance to what we see going on in reality. But, it really is incumbent upon us to pay just a “tiny little bit of attention” to what is going on for that to have any meaning in our lives. And from talking to so many people I truly think believers and non-believers alike fear a storm is coming. 

There is one more point I would like for everyone to ponder for a while. If one claims to be a believer and yet supports views that are antithetical to their belief system it's called heresy. 

If one claims to be an American yet works to undermine the U.S. Constitution, what exactly is that called? We used to call it treason.   

Final thought.

While Sir Roger Scruton was English, his comments strike deeply into the heart of all these destructive current events, not only in England, but in America and the entirety of Western civilization.

Will Americans stand by the solid and stable foundation of the Constitution, or embrace insanity and destruction? That's the entirely of it all.

Death to America Isn't Just an Islamic Chant, It's The Democrat Party Agenda

On October 13, 2024 by Silvio Canto, Jr. published this piece, about Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who at a pro abortion rally staged what can only be considered a deliberately disrespectful to Catholics saying:

It’s Sunday morning, and my guess is that a few friends at Mass will say something about Governor Whitmer of Michigan.  Honestly, we don’t talk a lot about the governor of Michigan down here, but what was she doing, giving a young woman a Dorito in something that looks a lot like Communion?.............  I’m not sure what the point here is, but it does look to some of us Catholics as though they are mocking our faith.  As you would expect, the Michigan bishops didn’t like the comedy, either........ It didn’t occur to the governor or the young woman kneeling that they were offending Catholics?  Would they have done a similar joke mocking another faith?  I think we know the answer, or just Google Charlie Hebdo for a quick history lesson..............

I really think this act of disrespect needs highlighted every day in some way by the conservative media, and here's why. This singular act is foundational to who the members of the Democrat party are, what they believe, who they support, and why.   You will notice, at least as far as I can tell, not one member of their party has come out and condemned her for this. Unlike so many feckless Republicans who crawl out of the woodwork to apologize over some meaningless act that offends one of the cults of the Church of Wokeness.

Ask to the nation this over and over again.  Would she be this disrespectful with Islamic practices?  We all know the answer to that, and we know why.  As Canto points out, if she did that they'd riot.   That's business as usual for the barbarians, and in a war between the barbarians and the wimps, the barbarians will win every time. 

They're supporting a violent hate filled political movement masquerading as a religion that regularly runs into the streets chanting death to America and Israel, and they mean it, and if anyone protests their violence and radicalism, the left calls it .   

Yet they think it's just fine to disrespect members of religions that were foundational in America's formation, and if they protest, they claim they're trying to destroy "our" Democracy. 

They want to make the murder of the innocent unborn legal right up until the moment of birth, and then murdering them if they survive.   Defining the moral values of the left is easy. They don't have any.  If this was a Muslim or Marxist controlled nation there wouldn't have been a Constitution and there most certainly wouldn't have been the Ten Amendments. 

So what should we conclude?  Death to America is more than a chant to the Democrat party, it's an agenda.  

Whitmer has now come out with phony clabber of how she "would never do something to denigrate someone’s faith", but isn't that what she did?   How can any rational person view this as anything except a planned intentional insult to Catholics?  Mark Tapson calls this, "A sulfuric whiff of the demonic."

Which must bring us to this foundational question.   

Why do Catholics support those who violate what is supposed to be the moral positions of their faith?   Paraphrasing Kevin Finn who asks how anyone can claim to be a "devout Catholic and support abortion, open borders, other harmful governmental practices and the open mocking and derision by politicians", ..... practices which are "diametrically opposed to their beliefs", supporting  "people who openly loathe them?"  

He calls this kind of thinking for what it is, cognitive dissonance!  That's believing two diametrically opposing views are both correct,  and says "when such people tell me they support Democrats I say, “Are you also a carnivorous vegetarian?”

 

Now's the Time to Start Seeing Reality, Thinking Clearly, and Acting Rationally!

There are three overwhelming truths that's emerging from the Democratic National Convention. You can never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. No one can anticipate when mass stupidity will strike. No one can plan for it, and you can't fix stupid.

• Pro-Harris Propaganda Unburdened by Reality

Over the years I've posted a lot of thoughts dealing with every subject facing humanity, whether those thoughts involve geopolitics, economics, culture, religion, environmentalism, medicine, agriculture, domestic politics, and just about every science issue that arises, including the massive frauds perpetrated on humanity of covid, and global warming.

Some have questioned my credentials, and since I'm an autodidact with no formal credentials for anything I write about, that's not unreasonable. However, I say the same thing over and over again in response. If I'm wrong: Prove it! If I say things that are inaccurate: Name them! I get crickets!

I base my observations on five things.

1. Everything is the basics. If you can see an issue in it's simplest possible form, it's easily understandable. If it's understandable, it's definable, if it's definable, it's fixable.
2. History. I've read a lot of history books dealing with every issue I discuss. History is everything, but if you don't read it, it's nothing.
3. Logical fallacies. Over the years I've spent a lot of time studying logical fallacies because as you observe what people are saying you find their views are so often predicated on logical fallacies. And once you recognize them, you can easily refute them, and their arguments crumble.
4. Seeing patterns. The natural function of the human mind is to see patterns. I just see them more easily and more quickly than most, but we can train our minds to be better at it, and we do that by thinking deeply on a host of subjects. It gives you mind the "search" command, and your mind will start filing, collating, and correlating information, eventually delivering those spontaneous insights I call "shazam" moments.
5. I see farther, deeper, and wider than most everyone else. Not because I'm so much smarter than everyone else. It's because I read so much more than most everyone else. After reading the thoughts and ideas of hundreds of authors, it's amazing how your perspective changes. You learn to read reality much better than almost everyone you talk to because you're able to see the nuances that aren't obvious to the general public.

All the above teaches you how to think, and that starts by questioning everything. Truth is the sublime convergence of history and reality. Everything has a historical foundation and context. Everything we're presented should bear some resemblance to what we see going on in reality. If what's presented to us fails in either of those categories, it's wrong! Here's the really big component of truth. Time! Truth and time are always on the same side, and as Ben Franklin once said, "truth will very patiently wait for us".

As time has gone by I've given up responding to internet trolls, and I refuse to let them spout on P&D because I realize they are, arrogant, corrupt, unending time wasters, masters at logical fallacies, purveyors of projection, obfuscators of truth, and ignorantly self righteous in their arrogance. I also think they're paid thought assassins.

I’ve also realized the more they blather, the less credible, and less sane they look, except to the equally ignorant self righteous ideologues who can't be reasoned with. They just waste a lot of time.

I'm now 78 and I find my views and values, which historically were America's foundational social paradigm for most of my life, have become oppressive to so many, including some "friends". We're no longer friends. It was their choice.

It's unfortunate so many have breathed the fumes of the fever swamps of the left for so long they will not accept the truth of history or reality. Heterodoxy isn't for the faint of heart, even when it means embracing insanity. History is replete with such actions.

One of my customers was an old Jewish couple that had become good friends. She's now passed, but was a liberal Democrat who woke up to who the Democrats really are and voted for Trump in 2016. He's a Republican, which I didn't know for years, in spite of the many conversations we've had regarding history, politics and social issues of every sort.

I asked her once why Jews, who live, practice and believe in conservative values, raise their children with those values, vote for liberal politicians. She said she's a conservative in her head, but liberal in her heart, and I think that may be more common than is realized.

She talked to her friends repeating the things we talked about and told them she was going to vote with her head, not her heart, and voted for Trump in 2016.  I thought at the time there was going to be a lot of that in the Jewish community in the 2020 election, not only among Jews, but Catholics also.

However, she told me her friends were angry at her for listening to me, and for two reasons. I'm just a bug man, and I'm a conservative. I fear I didn't realize just how strong America's secular Jews are bonded to the Democrat party, a party that's clearly dominated by anti-semites who are working against Jews on many levels; not just Israel. I think that's going to change in the 2024 election. Secular Jews are getting scared, and rightly so, the Democrats would clearly sell them down the river to appease the Muslims in America and around the world and would willingly destroy the nation of Israel.

As it turns out the religious Jews are even more for Trump than in the past, and if reports are accurate, secular Jews are moving in that direction. With Jews there's a clear and definite break between secular versus religious Jews, but just as a rising tide lifts all boats, fear moves everyone.  

This time Catholics seem to be moving far more to Trump than in past elections. Four years ago Catholics overall didn't want Roe v. Wade to be overturned. Which I find startling! Practicing versus secular Catholics being the line of demarcation again, reinforced with this kind of fuzzy thinking:

"Even though most Catholics said abortion should generally be legal, a majority also said abortion is morally wrong."

If that's not cognitive dissonance, then there is no such thing as cognitive dissonance. Abortion is the murder of the innocent unborn, it really is that simple, and for Catholics, it's a mortal sin.

Have Catholics move toward Trump in any meaningful way? I think so, as it's become clear by the actions of the Biden administration and the FBI, that Democrats hate Catholics, especially those Catholics in favor of the Latin mass, considering them dangerous radicals. How insane is that? So then I think it fair to ask: What's wrong with Jews and Catholics who choose to vote for those who hate them?

If someone tells you they hate you and want to destroy you, you should believe them.

Should Christians Fear Kamala Harris?

Her hostility to Catholics and evangelicals runs deep.

In a presidential campaign marked by one bombshell occurrence after another, it is easy to lose sight of fundamental issues that newly minted Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has yet to address. As the vice president dodges scrutiny in the run-up to the Democratic National Convention, Donald Trump and Republicans have spent plenty of time discussing the areas where the VP is highly vulnerable, primarily the economy and illegal immigration, which together rate as the most serious concerns of a majority of voters. But there has been little talk about an issue of profound importance to tens of millions of Americans on which Harris might be just as exposed: her view of Christianity.

The vice president’s own religious background is telling. Her mother was Indian and Hindu, her father Jamaican and Christian. As Trump has pointed out, she has alternated between identities during her career. During her formative years in Canada and later in the US, she attended both a Black Baptist church and a Hindu temple. Like Barack Obama, Harris’ father is a Marxist academic, which provides crucial context to her record of hostility toward Catholics and evangelical Christians. But whatever influences hit closest to home during her upbringing and throughout her political career, her record on religion is worthy of close scrutiny – and deep concern.

“The vice president has a strong Christian faith that she’s talked about a lot,” Jamal Simmons, Harris’ former communications director, told The Washington Times. But like so many other aspects of her persona, you would be hard-pressed to figure out exactly what that means in light of her record over more than a decade of public service.

The Kamala Harris Brand of Christianity

Harris’ 2019 ranking as the single most liberal senator in the entire nation was not without merit. One year earlier, she had famously ignored Article VI of the US Constitution prohibiting religious tests on judicial appointments during a Senate hearing. She asked a nominee to the federal court, Brian Buescher, if he was aware that the Knights of Columbus (KOC), a widely familiar charitable organization, “opposed a woman’s right to choose” and whether he had “ever, in any way, assisted with or contributed to advocacy against women’s reproductive rights.” Incredibly, Harris’ progressive colleague, Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), went on to ask the nominee if he would resign from the KOC if confirmed.

As California attorney general, Harris backed a 2015 state law requiring pro-life pregnancy crisis centers to offer abortion referrals. The US Supreme Court vacated the law as a violation of free speech. As a longtime supporter of Planned Parenthood, she also authorized a 2015 raid on the home of pro-life activist David Daleiden after he secretly recorded Planned Parenthood affiliates selling fetal tissue from abortions.

Then there was her time in the Senate, when she sponsored a bill, the 2019 “Do No Harm Act,” requiring  Catholic hospitals to cover abortions and gender-transition surgeries, despite their objections based on centuries of settled Catholic theology. She infuriated Christians by cosponsoring the 2017 Equality Act to protect the right of biological males who identify as female to enter girls’ and women’s facilities. And as part of her radical agenda during her run for the presidential nomination in 2020, she proposed that states be required to obtain permission from the Justice Department to pass any abortion restrictions.

Like many left-wing Christians, Harris claims that traditional Christian beliefs are perfectly compatible with her own, declaring at a recent NAACP Convention that supporting abortion access “does not require anyone to abandon their faith or their beliefs.” Of course, that flies directly in the face of the teachings of the Catholic Church, even with a Pope in the thrall of progressive theology, which continues to unilaterally oppose abortion.

But perhaps the most revealing insight into the Democratic presidential nominee’s beliefs might come from her statement excising one-third of the most defining statement of American values ever written. Indeed, in 2023, Harris deliberately left out the word “life” in stating during a pro-abortion speech that the Declaration of Independence guaranteed the right to “liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Almost 20% of the US population is Catholic. Another 39% identify as “born again” or evangelical, according to Gallup. That adds up to more than half the country.  Will Kamala Harris reassure people of faith that she will protect their religious liberty, or will she try to win the election by doubling down on her progressive view of faith?

My Gazette: Christian Heresy

You know that voice in you head that keeps you from saying the things you shouldn't say. Yeah, well, I don't have that, and when it comes to religion, that can be problematic, especially when we're seeing the factual and literal disintegration of western civilizations mainstream religions professing to be Christian.  

Why do I say professing?  Because claiming to be Christian means following Biblical moral values and concepts, working under the idea that God really exists, and he knows what he's taking about, and the Bible is his word.  Imagine that.    But what are they when they abandon those foundational values in favor of the latest leftist narrative?  Heretics!  

See, definition leads to clarity.

What appears below is what's happening.  There's much here about the current Pope, and rightly so.  However, nothing being reported here is taking a stand in support of one church over another.  All articles deal indiscriminately with any "Christian" church that's taking a stand against Biblical teaching in favor of leftist dogma.

The facts appear to support the thinking not not only do these church "leaders" not believe the Bible is God's word, which is what their profession requires, it also a raises the question of whether or not they even believe in God.  After all, it's clear by their actions they believe leftist atheists are more capable of determining what's right and what's wrong than God.    

Clarity leads to understanding, and while embracing and touting leftist dogma as the "new and improved Christian truth", I wonder if it ever occurs to them at some point people will ask themselves, "if leftism is the "new truth", then who needs you?"   If they need more clarity or insights on these "new and improved truths", all the have to do is tune in to the main stream media to get the latest leftist narrative of the moment, for the latest truth of the moment. 

"Offering spiritual solace to parishioners should always take precedence over apologising for slavery, catastrophising over climate change or other modish concerns that are perhaps taking up too much of the Church’s time."

In short, people attend churches in concern for their relationship with God, not the "social justice" issue of the moment, and the leadership of these institutions are failing to do that.

The Jesuit-run Fordham University in New York has a rich literary history.  Edgar Allan Poe spent time at Fordham when it was known as St. John’s College. He was living in a cottage, the guest of Reverend Edward Doucet, SJ, who allowed him unlimited use of the college library.  Poe thoroughly enjoyed the Jesuits and once said that they were

“highly cultivated gentlemen and scholars, they smoked and they drank and they played cards, and they never said a word about religion.”

If There is No Truth, Then Neither Heresy Nor Treason Exist!

This article is about foundational thinking. For anything to be successful it has to have foundational logic supporting all that takes place. For America, the Bible and the U.S. Constitution are foundational to the American story and the basis for American exceptionalism. Those are the two foundations I wish to ponder here.  The Holy Bible and the U.S. Constitution and the modern implications for both.   

There was a recent poll of U.S. Catholics taken that claims most Catholics back same-sex marriage claiming In an article by Lucy Madison which appeared on March 8, 2013 she states that:

"amid growing support for same-sex marriage nationwide, a new poll from Quinnipiac University shows that most Catholics in the U.S. also back same-sex marriage, despite the church's teachings against it."

She goes on to say that:

"According to the poll, which surveyed 497 adult Catholics from February 27 - March 4 with a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent, 54 percent of Catholic voters support same-sex marriage, while 38 percent oppose it. The survey shows a dramatic shift on the subject in the last few years: In a July 2008 poll by Quinnipiac, only 36 percent of Catholic voters said they supported same-sex marriage, while 55 percent opposed it."

Among 1,944 registered voters surveyed in the same poll, 47 percent supported same-sex marriage and 43 percent opposed it. A December poll asking the same question showed a statistical tie on the issue, at 48 percent in support and 46 percent in opposition." 

I'm not all that impressed with polls because they are so easily twisted, but for my readers who are believers, Catholic or otherwise, I think this is worth pondering for a while.  If this poll is accurate, it would appear heresy is far more rampant than most realized. It would also appear that religious conviction is expected to adhere to public opinion, which was predicted.  

"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear".  2 Timothy 4:3

Does this imply they don't believe the hand of God is behind the Bible?  If that is the case, and it appears that it is, what hope is there to get people to honor a manmade document such as the U.S. Constitution?

Believers are taught to believe the Bible was inspired by God.  You know, the one believers are supposed to be worshiping. Yet, thousands of years of Biblical writings and teaching are being ignored or twisted by those who claim to believe. If that is the case, and it appears that it is, then one would suppose there are a great many "believers" who think God lies, or he has no idea what he's talking about, or that the writings are solely the works of men, or at the very least, question even if he exists.  All that makes the Bible of no more worth than the insane ramblings of Karl Marx.   If that's so, and it appears it is, then they simply ignore the Biblical teachings and replace them with which ever philosophical flavor of the day comes down the pike. 

Truth exists, whether we like it or not. We don’t create truth; we find it, and we have no power to change it to our tastes. The truth may not make us comfortable, but it does make us free. How could such a thing happen in a nation known for its Christian religious foundation? This has happened slowly over a course of decades. This came about because the Bible, and the surrounding history and commentaries aren't taught in the churches, and neither is it done at home. All of which was done regularly in the past. Thousands of years of Biblical writings and teaching are being ignored or twisted.  

Public and higher education has been instrumental in undermining those traditional and foundational values that made the American culture possible.   Was the American culture ever perfect?  No, but with all our faults, still the greatest culture the world has ever known, bringing more people out of misery and suffering than any other in all of human history.  America never offered perfection.  What America offered the most acceptable imperfection.

Sir Roger Scruton once noted:

A writer who says there are no truths, or that all truth is merely relative, is asking you not to believe him.  So don't.   

So then why is society choosing to believe those who shouldn't be believed, and ignoring those who need to be believed?    Now we come to the finest secular document ever conceived of by man, the U.S. Constitution, which isn't studied in the nation's schools, nor is it read privately, which is far more easily read and understood than the sixty six books of the Bible, yet few have read it, fewer understand it, and as a result, few realize what's been lost.  

That leaves one to believe the Constitution, the second primary foundation to justify the American system, has little value to the average citizen because the history behind it is being twisted or ignored. Once again; the Bible and the U.S. Constitution are foundational to the American story and the basis for American exceptionalism.  If either one is discarded the great American experiment is finished.  

John Adams said, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Morality and virtue are the foundation of our republic and necessary for a society to be free.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matt. 7:26  

Everyone, believer or non-believer, can surely see the wisdom in that parable. Everything has a historical foundation, and everything we are told should bear some resemblance to what we see going on in reality. But, it really is incumbent upon us to pay just a “tiny little bit of attention” to what is going on for that to have any meaning in our lives. And from talking to so many people I truly think believers and non-believers alike fear a storm is coming. 

There is one more point I would like for everyone to ponder for a while. If one claims to be a believer and yet supports views that are antithetical to their belief system it's called heresy. 

If one claims to be an American yet works to undermine the U.S. Constitution, what exactly is that called? We used to call it treason.   

Final thought.

While Sir Roger Scruton was English, his comments strike deeply into the heart of all these destructive current events, not only in England, but in America and the entirety of Western civilization.

Will you stand by the gnarled oak of Englishness or will you bring on the bulldozers of soulless modernity?  Can you appreciate beauty or are you an enraged devotee of contemporary art? Will Americans stand by the solid and stable foundation of the Constitution, or embrace insanity and destruction? That's the entirely of it all.

Nancy Pelosi: Morality, Free Will and Corruption of Thought

On Sunday April 2, 2023 Whitson G. Waldo, III published this piece, Nancy Pelosi's Theology and Her Politics saying:

Nancy Pelosi has been locking horns with San Francisco's Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone.The good archbishop forbade that Holy Communion be administered to Nancy Pelosi within his diocese wherein is her residence.He requires that the sacrament of penance be observed for the "serious sins" of supporting abortion and homosexual behavior, including same-sex "marriage." 

The author goes on to point out the errors of her thinking, but I've often wondered at her proclamations regarding her "devotion" to the Catholic church, and her clear disregard for the teachings of the church. I think this statement by Pelosi is enlightening. 

"We have a free will. God has given us a free will, and we have a moral responsibility to live up to that free will and what it gives us." 

The exercise of free will doesn't preclude condemnation for those free will choices.  Free will is an exercise in judgement.  Some have chosen to murder people.  Some have chosen to rob people.  Some have chosen to rape people.  Should these choices in "free will" be condemned?  Yes, they should, and punished.

That illogical "free will" argument is nothing more than a rationalizational salve she uses to sooth over the open sore of her apostasy, which of course means the church is wrong, the Bible is wrong, and God is wrong.  Which then means she's right, and she not only has the right, but the duty, to ignore the church, ignore the morality it teaches, and ignore the morality taught in the Bible, ignore God, and since now she's the ultimate moral authority it's her duty to promote the latest narrative of the moment, to promote her power mongering. 

Benjamin Franklin in his autobiography stated when he was a young man he was a vegetarian, and for two reasons.  Economics and ideology, but mostly for economic reasons.  In those days it was safer and easier to travel from place like New York to Boston by ship versus overland as there weren't good roads.  

Franklin said before he became a vegetarian he had a particular fondness for fish, and during one of these trips the sailors caught a huge fish, and when they cut it open a lot of smaller fish poured out of it's stomach, so he rationalized justifying eating the meal that would be prepared from that fish in this way.  

"Since you ate them, I'm gong to eat you"  

Franklin went on to say the nice thing about being a rational creature was the ability to rationalize.  

Ted Kennedy was as contemptible as Pelosi and yet he was buried in the Church.  This piece in Catholic Culture, maintains:

A strong argument can be made for the proposition that Senator Kennedy should not have been allowed a Catholic funeral-- not because of his personal failings, but because his public stands put him in conflict with the Church. Unlike private sins, which can be absolved in sacramental Confession, serious public sins require some form of public amendment, to address the scandal that they create. Ted Kennedy never recanted his support for abortion, and so he remained in open conflict with his Church. To allow a public funeral for him meant allowing for the perception that the Church is not really serious about the abortion issue, and thus creating a new public scandal. 

The word repentance means "to turn about' and carries with it an implied responsibility to make a repair for what ill was done.  His "repentance" would have required a public position saying he was wrong in his supported the murder of innocents, and pleaded for forgiveness.  While in his final days he was regularly visited by priests, yet there is absolutely no indication he did any of those things, and that's why the article was entitled, The Kennedy Funeral: Boston's Latest Scandal.

At the end of our lives we review our lives as old friends, old enemies, old times and old memories keep pouring into our thoughts, and we go through all the woulda, coulda, should haves, and the regrets.  

Soon Pelosi will be confronted with two things.  As an out of power retired politico she may be trotted out for a sound bite occasionally, but in reality, no one will really care what she thinks, and she'll be alone with her conscience, and her rationalizations.  And secondly, she will be confronted with her mortality, one that is soon to be realized.  Will she be scandalously buried in the church as was Ted Kennedy? 

At the end, does it really matter?   Is there any believer that isn't convinced she will still have to answer for her heresy, and all that spilled innocent blood crying out for justice?  Innocent blood which she and her supporters are responsible for!  Nancy Pelosi's stand on abortion is considered a "mortal sin" by the Catholic Church, and rightly so.  Do all the Catholics who voted for Nancy Pelosi, knowing full well her stand on abortion, share in her guilt? 

One also has to wonder about a Pope who welcomed Pelosi to the Vatican 2 weeks after passing the most radical abortion bill in history, and given his actions over the years appears to be even more confused than Pelosi.  In light of all that you have to applaud San Francisco's Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone stand for refusing Pelosi the sacrament of communion.   

Christian institutions are taking sides on the so-called transgender question

The Bible has always been clear about one thing, and that’s that there are only two sexes: “In the day that God created man, He made him in His own likeness. Male and female He created them, and He blessed them.” (Genesis 5:1.) The sexual binary is a fundamental truth underlying every subsequent Biblical narrative. However, in both England and Canada, Christian institutions, when given a choice between the so-called transgender narrative versus the Bible, have opted for the former over the latter.

England’s official, state-sanctioned church is the Church of England, which Henry VIII established when he split from Rome. It used to be a standard, Bible-believing Church. Now, though, it seems that things are changing in a big way.

The Church of England’s Bishop in Coventry (a bishop, mind you!) is alleged to have reported a member of the congregation to the police for committing a hate crime. The crime? Opposing gender theory and the sexualization of young children within the church:.............

Closer to home than England but still in the totalitarian, non-constitutional Anglosphere, a Catholic high school in Ontario, Canada, allegedly suspended a student for insisting that there are only two genders and that boys shouldn’t be using the girls’ room under the fiction that, their genitalia and, indeed, DNA to the contrary, they’re really girls:.............

Again, does it strike anyone as weird that a religious organization would choose the delusions of mentally ill people over the word of the Bible? Can you still call yourself a religious institution if you do that? Of what use is a religious institution if it doesn’t stand for anything and is willing to take on every fad that comes its way?......................To Read More...

Why Do Jews and Catholics Vote Democrat?

Quoting David Mamet:

“Dennis Prager said the only thing that the Left has been successful at is in demonizing the Right and they demonized the hell out of the Jews so bad they can’t think clearly. 

My great aunt lives in Chicago and she’s 91 years old and she said you know ‘things have gotten so bad over here, the taxes are so bad, the homelessness is so bad, these kids are killing each other every week on the south side of Chicago and my friends had to move from a wonderful apartment because when they took over Michigan Avenue they got into the lobby of her building and things just couldn’t be worse’ and I said you know ‘Well keep voting democratic!’ and there was this long long long long pause and any of us who are Conservative know that pause and that look on the face of the Liberal and it’s a look of aphasia.” 

When I was working I had a lot of Jewish customers.  They were smart, funny, and well informed... mostly.... and I would have conversations with them about everything.  That's what I enjoyed, the broad interests they displayed.  And one has to understand, every ethnic group has it's "shtick"!  Those little idiosyncratic that make them just a little different than other ethnic groups, and you have to recognize them and work with it, and it's generally not personal, just their "shtick".  As the generations move along those distinctions become much less noticeable, but they're there none the less.

One of my favorite customers was a Jewish couple in their 80's and we talked about history, politics, culture, race, Israel, Jews in America versus Jews around the world. Name it and at some point it became a conversation piece, and since I've read a history book or two I always underpinned my thoughts with history lessons.  History is everything, because time and truth are on the same side.

She was an ardent liberal Democrat, and I found out after some years....he was a Republican.  Was I surprised, and they both laughed, and so did I. 

I asked the wife why Jews, the smartest people on the planet, who have managed to be successful throughout their history in spite of unending persecution, who live and practice conservative values and teach those same values to their children then vote for people who are foundationally antisemitic and promote everything that's antithetical to the values Jews practice and teach?   She said she was a conservative in her head, but she's a liberal in her heart.  I told he she needs to start voting with her head.  

As time went by she told me I opened her eyes, and she was going to vote for Trump in 2020.  She told me she shared my insights with her friends, and that didn't go well.  They were all upset wondering why in the world she was listening to a "bugman"?  Maybe because the "bugman" knows a thing or two?  Just a passing thought.

But the answer to their voting habits is, in my opinion, in their suffering.   This intransigence goes back to the turn of the 20th century and the Democrat party of days gone by.    When looking at this from that perspective this embrace by Jews of Democrats is understandable, and it's a generational cultural thing now.  In any ethnic group with such close ties it's very difficult to step out of line with the accepted cultural paradigms of that society.  This isn't the Democrat party of their grandparents and great grandparents. 

At some point I think that social paradigm has to change for American Jews, and I also think it will change for American Catholics.  The social fabric and values of both of those communities are very similar, and both are totally out of harmony with the structure, values and goals of the Democrat party.  

So, why do Catholics vote Democrat?  Catholics I've discussed this with over the years have had some strong words against Obama, Pelosi, and Democrats in general ....the Pope..... and yet they vote massively in favor of Democrat candidates.  Why?  Other than it's now a generational social paradigm............I have no idea.

But, as the reporter in Charlie Wilson's War said:  We'll see!

 

 

Hong Kong Court Convicts Cardinal Zen for Pro-Democracy Support

ROME — Cardinal Joseph Zen has been found guilty together with five others of failing to properly register the 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund, which provided legal and medical aid to jailed protesters of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement.  Last May, Hong Kong’s national security police arrested the 90-year-old cardinal, the former bishop of Hong Kong, on suspicion of “collusion with foreign forces” under the city’s sweeping national security law, but these charges have not been brought.

On Friday, Zen appeared before Principal Magistrate Ada Yip at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts together with four other trustees of the now-defunct relief fund, namely prominent lawyer Margaret Ng, ex-legislator Cyd Ho, scholar Hui Po-keung, and singer-activist Denise Ho. The secretary of the fund, Sze Ching-wee, was also tried and found guilty..............

Conspicuous by its absence was any protest of the prosecution by Pope Francis, who has been at loggerheads with Zen over dealings between the Vatican and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Asked by a reporter whether Zen’s arrest and trial constituted a violation of religious freedom, the pontiff suggested that Zen got what was coming to him.  The pope first rebuked the idea that China is undemocratic, insisting that such labels are unhelpful because China is a very “complex” country. Second, he acknowledged Zen’s arrest but refused to criticize it or to defend the 90-year-old cardinal.  “Cardinal Zen is going to trial these days, I think. Pope Francis' Deal With Communist China Did Not Work  Terry Jeffrey Jun 08, 2022

The deal Pope Francis made with Communist China did not work.  On Sept. 22, 2018, the Vatican released two statements about its dealings with this regime. One announced that Pope Francis had officially recognized seven bishops initially appointed by China's atheist government.

The other was called a "(c)ommunique concerning the signing of a Provisional Agreement between the Holy See and the People's Republic of China on the appointment of Bishops."

"The above-mentioned Provisional Agreement, which is the fruit of a gradual and reciprocal rapprochement, has been agreed following a long process of careful negotiation and foresees the possibility of periodic reviews of its application," said the Vatican's statement. "It concerns the nomination of Bishops, a question of great importance for the life of the Church, and creates the conditions for greater collaboration at the bilateral level............To Read More.....

My Take - A deal with people who've a history of dirty dealing, murder and tyranny didn't work out? And we're supposed to be surprised at this? No deal with the left will ever be honored. That's history and that history is incontestable. The question everyone should be asking is why the Pope would ever think otherwise, and it makes you wonder at so many of his views regarding Islam, environmentalism, global warming and immigration, which all pander to leftist propaganda.  

But he's not alone.    

In Scotland a Minister claims 'Bible must give way' to same-sex 'marriage'. He says people now 'know more' about sexuality.   

"A minister in the state-endorsed Church of Scotland stunningly has claimed that the Bible is not always the authority that people must follow. The shocking statement comes from Rev. Scott Rennie, who openly lives a homosexual lifestyle, and concerns same-sex marriage."

So, we know more about human sexuality than God?  Interesting take from a person who's alleged belief system is supposed to be based on the Bible.  Which bodes well the question:  Since it's clear these people don't believe in the Bible, do they believe in God?  And since it's clear they don't believe they have to answer for their positions, they must not.  

Then we have a report that Texas 'ministers' are flying women to New Mexico for abortions.  

"According to Business Insider, every two weeks Christian ministers and Jewish rabbis from Texas fly a group of 20 low-income women to New Mexico for abortions. They claim it’s their faith that motivates them to ensure women have abortions — but in reality, they get to act as “saviors” to disadvantaged women without actually doing anything to help them."  Taking an anti-Biblical view on sex is one thing, aiding someone to commit murder is beyond the pale.  

Remember, these aren't secularists.  They're supposed to be believers in an ultimate moral power and authority that says this is a vile sin.   Which once again, bodes well this question:  If they don't believe in the Bible, and clearly don't believe in God:  Who needs them?  

While they're practicing their heresy not one word about the over 50 feared dead in Nigeria church attack where:

"gunmen opened fire on worshipers and detonated explosives at a Catholic church in southwestern Nigeria on Sunday, leaving dozens feared dead, state lawmakers said. The attackers targeted the St. Francis Catholic Church in Ondo state just as the worshippers gathered on Pentecost Sunday, legislator Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole said. Among the dead were many children, he said. The presiding priest was abducted as well".  

And who did this?  Supposedly it "was not immediately clear who was behind the attack on the church."  Get real folks, it was Muslims who did this. But no one dares say it because it might hurt Muslim feelings by being exposed as murderous monsters.  As if 1400 years of their monstrous and murderous history can be ignored.

A Liberation Theologist Offers Salvation to Minority White Supremacists

Miguel De La Torre, a former president of the Society of Christian Ethics, showed up at a small Catholic university, telling students that minorities can be white, but that they can also be saved.

“Those of us who are colored, some of us can also be white," the professor of Latinx Studies at the Iliff School of Theology assured all races suffering from whiteness. "But the good news is there is salvation."

The lecture by De La Torre, who is also an ordained minister, claimed that minorities "with colonized minds seek to assimilate to a Euroamerican version of Christianity" and proposed a post-colonial alternative based "on the revolutionary activities of the Young Lords".

Students at Carlow University, founded by the Sisters of Mercy, could look forward to abandoning "EuroAmerican Christianity" for the much more authentic theology of a racist Puerto Rican street gang.

Much of this material already showed up in De La Torre's books, “Burying White Privilege: Resurrecting a Badass Christianity” and "Decolonizing Christianity: Becoming Badass Believers".

"A White Christian worldview can be advocated by those who are black or brown, Jew or Muslim, queer or heteronormative, atheist or humanist," De La Torre argued in “Decolonizing Christianity”.

In the woke professor's excitingly inclusive world, anyone can be a white supremacist.

All you have to do is believe.

Or defend the current "political, economic, and social structures" and "embrace white philosophical and theological paradigms." That could potentially encompass the Bible and the entire western canon. Not to mention notions such as private property and the nuclear family.

But what does the “badass believer” believe in?

“I don’t know if there is a God or not; and quite frankly I really don’t care,” De La Torre told them.

Instead he urged students to, "crucify whiteness".

To be a truly badass believer is to believe in nothing except your own impassioned rhetoric.

De La Torre claims that he’s not a theologian, but he’s quite interested in “Liberation Theology”, just not the actual kind. His theology is reducible to the familiar leftist formulas of power relations and the eternal Marxist Manichean struggle of the oppressor and the oppressor.

Thus, he writes that, "to read Genesis is to read the testimonies of illegal aliens", but also that "one of the book's purposes is to provide moral justification for the eventual genocide of the promised land's original indigenous inhabitants."

The Bible can be mined for social justice purposes, but is ultimately evil.

“The decolonization of the minds of people of color begins with the total rejection of the dead white God and the dead white Jesus. And let the dead bury the dead,” he argues elsewhere.

What better message could there be for the Catholic Carlow University and his own Methodist Iliff School of Theology?

The salvation of minorities from Euroamerican Christianity is De La Torre’s business. The child of Santeria worshipers, De La Torre joined the Young Republicans and became a born-again Christian. After getting into a conflict with conservative Christians, he was reborn as a leftist “Baptecostal Catholic Santero” and constantly retells his own wokeness conversion story.

"It took years of decolonizing my mind of the subtle white supremacy I was taught," he writes in an article attacking the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

By "decolonizing" his mind, De La Torre actually colonized it with unsubtle racial supremacism.

The best way to understand the true meaning of a leftist term is to invert it. Decolonization, colonizes. Liberation theology, enslaves. Social justice is individual oppression. Radical love is traditional hate.

In the introduction to Decolonizing Christianity, De La Torre, a white Euro-American man of Cuban origin who identifies as an oppressed minority, declares that it's "not written for Euro-Americans in the futile hope of shaming or encouraging them to do the right thing. For almost 250 years, white Christian terrorism has been the legitimized law of the land."

Could there be anything more Christian than writing off millions of people because of their race?

The paradox of leftist radicalism is that it is an inverse faith, defined by the negative dark images it projects onto others, while lacking any meaning or substance of its own.

Leftism is a void cloaked in outrage. Its ravenous desire to be angered by the stories of victims is used to disguise the hubris of its appetites. Leftists don’t believe in God, because they want to be gods. Yet they’re incapable of creating, only destroying. What does that make them?

That is why leftists always accuse others of their own sins.

Suffering from racism, they campaign against it. And they prescribe their nobler social justice racism, rooted in intersectionality, post-colonial analysis and fifty academic texts, as the answer.

Liberation Theology, like its Tikkun Olam counterpart in Judaism, and all the various social justice theologies, are obsessed with evil, but incapable of envisioning good apart from it.

And thus, in keeping with another of his books, De La Torre told students to choose “hopelessness.”

“I fight for justice not because I am going to win,” he said, “I am not."

Leftists never claim to have won. Winning would involve accepting responsibility and accountability. The Communists took over the Soviet Union, but would never admit to having won, instead blaming all their problems on the Czarist regime or on domestic subversion. A Biden administration that admitted to having won would have to take responsibility for the economic crisis, instead of playing the victim and blaming corporations, or Putin.

A movement of perpetual victims who seek absolute power, yet claim to be powerless, is at the dark heart of leftist narcissism. Leftists, if you believe them, are always the underdogs, always oppressed, even when they have all the wealth and power. They are always abused, even and especially when they’re the ones doing the abusing.

Consider the spectacle of the Washington Post’s Taylor Lorenz, backed by the wealth of Amazon’s former CEO, claiming that any criticism of her is harassment, only to then stalk and doxx another woman because she disagreed with her political views on Twitter.

The Left demands the total inversion of truth as a precondition of belonging to its movement. Its mysteries are rooted in its hypocrisies. It multiplies absurdities until it even inverts itself. It seeks new enemies to fight until, but without those enemies, which require its followers to destroy parts of themselves, those men and women have no idea who they even are anymore.

"As a committed liberationist-leaning Christian, I may have no choice but to say the Shahada and convert to Islam if I wish to be faithful to my beliefs," De La Torre insists at one point.

Having thoroughly decolonized himself, De La Torre is ready to be colonized all over again.

Since the cult of social justice is the search for the greatest gold mine of victimhood, what else is there for a Baptecostal Catholic Santero to do except become a Muslim?

If you don’t believe in God, you may as well not believe in Allah.
