Chinese Communists Install New Bishop of Shanghai Without Vatican Approval

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has once again violated its 2018 agreement with the Vatican, unilaterally naming a new bishop of Shanghai without the Vatican’s okay. On Tuesday, Bishop Shen Bin was officially installed as the new bishop of Shanghai. Shen was appointed by the CCP-controlled Council of Chinese Bishops, an organization of which Shen himself is the head, and which is not recognized by the Holy See.   At his installation ceremony, Shen said he will continue the tradition of “patriotism and love” for the Church in Shanghai, pledging to adhere to the CCP’s principles of independence and self-administration and the campaign of “Sinicizing” Catholicism in China. ................To Read More...

Hong Kong Court Convicts Cardinal Zen for Pro-Democracy Support

ROME — Cardinal Joseph Zen has been found guilty together with five others of failing to properly register the 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund, which provided legal and medical aid to jailed protesters of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement.  Last May, Hong Kong’s national security police arrested the 90-year-old cardinal, the former bishop of Hong Kong, on suspicion of “collusion with foreign forces” under the city’s sweeping national security law, but these charges have not been brought.

On Friday, Zen appeared before Principal Magistrate Ada Yip at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts together with four other trustees of the now-defunct relief fund, namely prominent lawyer Margaret Ng, ex-legislator Cyd Ho, scholar Hui Po-keung, and singer-activist Denise Ho. The secretary of the fund, Sze Ching-wee, was also tried and found guilty..............

Conspicuous by its absence was any protest of the prosecution by Pope Francis, who has been at loggerheads with Zen over dealings between the Vatican and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Asked by a reporter whether Zen’s arrest and trial constituted a violation of religious freedom, the pontiff suggested that Zen got what was coming to him.  The pope first rebuked the idea that China is undemocratic, insisting that such labels are unhelpful because China is a very “complex” country. The deal Pope Francis made with Communist China did not work.  On Sept. 22, 2018, the Vatican released two statements about its dealings with this regime. One announced that Pope Francis had officially recognized seven bishops initially appointed by China's atheist government.

The other was called a "(c)ommunique concerning the signing of a Provisional Agreement between the Holy See and the People's Republic of China on the appointment of Bishops."

My Take - A deal with people who've a history of dirty dealing, murder and tyranny didn't work out? And we're supposed to be surprised at this? No deal with the left will ever be honored. That's history and that history is incontestable. The question everyone should be asking is why the Pope would ever think otherwise, and it makes you wonder at so many of his views regarding Islam, environmentalism, global warming and immigration, which all pander to leftist propaganda.  

But he's not alone.    

In Scotland a Minister claims 'Bible must give way' to same-sex 'marriage'. He says people now 'know more' about sexuality.   

"A minister in the state-endorsed Church of Scotland stunningly has claimed that the Bible is not always the authority that people must follow. The shocking statement comes from Rev. Scott Rennie, who openly lives a homosexual lifestyle, and concerns same-sex marriage."

So, we know more about human sexuality than God?  Interesting take from a person who's alleged belief system is supposed to be based on the Bible.  Which bodes well the question:  Since it's clear these people don't believe in the Bible, do they believe in God?  And since it's clear they don't believe they have to answer for their positions, they must not.  

Then we have a report that Texas 'ministers' are flying women to New Mexico for abortions.  

"According to Business Insider, every two weeks Christian ministers and Jewish rabbis from Texas fly a group of 20 low-income women to New Mexico for abortions. They claim it’s their faith that motivates them to ensure women have abortions — but in reality, they get to act as “saviors” to disadvantaged women without actually doing anything to help them."  Taking an anti-Biblical view on sex is one thing, aiding someone to commit murder is beyond the pale.  

Remember, these aren't secularists.  They're supposed to be believers in an ultimate moral power and authority that says this is a vile sin.   Which once again, bodes well this question:  If they don't believe in the Bible, and clearly don't believe in God:  Who needs them?  

While they're practicing their heresy not one word about the over 50 feared dead in Nigeria church attack where:

"gunmen opened fire on worshipers and detonated explosives at a Catholic church in southwestern Nigeria on Sunday, leaving dozens feared dead, state lawmakers said. The attackers targeted the St. Francis Catholic Church in Ondo state just as the worshippers gathered on Pentecost Sunday, legislator Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole said. Among the dead were many children, he said. The presiding priest was abducted as well".  

And who did this?  Supposedly it "was not immediately clear who was behind the attack on the church."  Get real folks, it was Muslims who did this. But no one dares say it because it might hurt Muslim feelings by being exposed as murderous monsters.  As if 1400 years of their monstrous and murderous history can be ignored.

Upon hearing of Wojtyla’s election, Soviet KGB chief Yuri Andropov called a subordinate in Warsaw and asked: “How could you possibly allow the election of a citizen of a socialist country as pope?” Andropov ordered the KGB’s First Chief Directorate to assess this development’s consequences. The KGB report warned about Poland’s potential destabilization and the end of the Warsaw Pact. The Soviet Central Committee conducted its own assessment and concluded that the new pope would work for religious freedom in Poland and throughout Eastern Europe.

The archbishop said he was troubled by the power of the mainstream media to overwhelm legitimate questions about the 2020 presidential election.

The rest of the world is watching to see if America and its democratic system will hold up, he said. “If it allows the idea to spread among the masses that the electoral choice of the citizens – the first expression of democracy – can be manipulated and thwarted, it will be complicit in the fraud, and will certainly deserve the execration of the entire world, which looks to America as a nation which has fought for and defended its freedom.”

 When asked about the Catholic Church's support for the pro-democracy demonstrations in Hong Kong, Cardinal Joseph Zen, the Bishop Emeritus of Hong Kong, said that neither the Vatican nor Pope Francis has said a word, and added that the church in China has been sold out to the government.

Did Pope Francis Just Make China Protestant?

The long-term consequences of the new provisional agreement

Attempts to defend the recent provisional agreement between the Vatican and the People’s Republic of China, which was signed on September 22, have rung increasingly hollow over the past few days.

That pattern began before the ink was dry in Beijing, as Pope Francis’s secretary of state, Pietro Parolin, issued a statement claiming that now “for the first time all the bishops in China are in communion with the Bishop of Rome, with the Successor of Peter.”

Really?

Weren’t “all the bishops in China” in full communion with the pope before the Chinese Communists set up their front church, the Patriotic Catholic Association?

Parolin also tried to justify the provisional agreement on the grounds that Pope Francis, like his immediate predecessors, “looks with particular care to the Chinese people” — a claim that, translated from Vaticanese, suggests that John Paul II and Benedict XVI would have made the same deal Francis and Parolin reportedly did.

But that deal was available to John Paul II and Benedict XVI and they didn’t make it, because they knew that giving first rights of nomination over Chinese bishops to the Chinese state or the Chinese Communist Party was both a violation of the Church’s own canon law and a prescription for a puppet episcopate............To Read More.....

My Take - Is it any wonder so many Catholics stopped donating to the Church and so many keep asking - who picked this guy? But to me the most important sentence in this article is their justification for this agreement saying:

"Throughout the negotiating process, those diplomats and the mouthpieces of the current pontificate kept insisting that the Holy See had to have a place at the table in Beijing, for China was the rising global hegemon."

Why is that so important to me?  Because I hear this same justification by the leadership of our industry involving the EPA and the green movement.  "We need a seat at the table." What we have to understand that by having "a seat at the table" with those who hate and despise who we are, and what we do, isn't going to ameliorate their actions, or long range goals.  It justifies them!  

Then we become party to our own demise. Why is that so hard to grasp? Why do so many refuse to grasp that fundamental truth? 

Because to embrace that means being an outright adversary to the forces of evil, and most don’t have the courage to be that kind of rock in the current.  Heterodoxy isn't for the faint of heart.

We can always find the go along, get along, Neville Chamberlains or the Vidkun Quislings of the world as leaders. Appeasers and traitors are legion!

But where can we find a Winston Churchill? Where do we find leaders that run to the fight and not away from it?  Where do organizations find leaders that are capable, and willing to stand against the slings and arrows of adversity? 

You can't find them, they have to come to you, because unlike so many "leaders" they recognize what is the battle of their time, and they're willing to fight it, and because after the go along to get along guys make a mess of everything - there's no one else to turn to but the Winston Churchill's of the world.

Chinese Catholics Call on Bishops Worldwide: Stop the Vatican Deal With Chinese Gov't

(CNSNews.com) -- In an open letter to Catholic bishops throughout the world, a group of Chinese Catholic scholars, lawyers, and activists plead with the bishops to contact the Vatican and urge Pope Francis to not go forward with his plan to try to unite the underground Chinese church with the Communist-run Catholic Patriotic Association (CPA), which is schismatic and rejects some of the basic teachings of Catholicism.

"We earnestly ask you, with the love of the people of God, appeal to the Holy See," reads the letter. "Please rethink the current agreement, and stop making an irreversible and regrettable mistake."

Pope Francis reportedly is preparing to sign off on a deal with the Chinese government to supposedly improve diplomatic relations and allow Catholics to worship more freely in the Communist regime. The deal would require the Pope to accept seven bishops that were appointed not by him, but by the CPA, which is completely controlled by the government.

These CPA bishops do not profess loyalty to the Pope and the Magesterium of the chuch. They also do not accept the church's teachings on such issues as right to life, abortion, contraception, and euthanasia...........And, ironically, the situation potentially would place the Pope on the side of the Communists. Pope Francis' deal with China is a disaster

The Vatican and China have reached a deal that would be a major step towards normalizing relations between the Catholic Church and the world's largest formally atheist regime, The Wall Street Journal reports. All that's needed for the deal to go through is the final nod from Pope Francis and President Xi Jinping. To call this a bombshell would be an understatement.

In this deal, the Catholic Church would recognize eight bishops who have been ordained by the Chinese government without the Vatican's permission. China's regime has set up a state-run and state-sponsored "Catholic Church" that competes with the underground Church, recognized by the Vatican. Although in practice the boundaries between these two bodies tend to blur, in reality they are very distinct. After all, Catholicism isn't Catholicism without obedience to the pope..................
