How Much Of This Has Been Paid For By The U.S. Taxpayer?

Elon Musk and the DOGE crew are now a few weeks into their work, and the examples of brazen waste, fraud, and misuse of taxpayer funds are exploding forth like a gusher.

At the first agency targeted, USAID, an early revelation was that much of the left-wing press has been quietly underwritten by the taxpayers in the form of hundreds of phony premium-priced subscriptions to such outlets as The New York Times, Associated Press, Politico, and Reuters. On February 5, the White House put out a document titled “At USAID, Waste and Abuse Runs Deep,” listing a dozen or so categories of abusive payments, including “Millions to EcoHealth Alliance — which was involved in research at the Wuhan lab . . . Hundreds of thousands of meals that went to al Qaeda-affiliated fighters in Syria . . . Hundreds of millions of dollars to fund . . . the unprecedented poppy cultivation and heroin production in Afghanistan, benefiting the Taliban. . . .”

These are just examples. What other pet causes and activities of the Left have been getting paid for by USAID, and more broadly, by other various federal agencies?

A notable aspect of the past few weeks is that the shutting down of some of the federal money spigot funding the Left has been accompanied by the drying up of many of the notable activities of recent years. Could it be that many of these activities have been funded by the American taxpayers? Here are some examples where I would like to know how much has been paid for by the U.S. taxpayer:

Migrant caravans. We have been treated to extensive reporting of caravans of thousands of people trekking north from South America, through Central America and Mexico to the U.S. border. These treks take weeks. During that time, the people appear to be well fed. They seem to have camping supplies and equipment that magically appear for them to sleep at night. The cost of organizing one of these caravans and feeding and supplying it has to run into the many millions of dollars. Suddenly with USAID disrupted, the caravans have melted away. Who was putting up the money for these caravans? Did much of it come from the U.S. taxpayer?

Services in the U.S. to illegal aliens. Services provided to illegal aliens once in the U.S. can vary greatly from place to place, but can include everything from food to shelter to medical care to help finding a permanent home. Many to most illegal aliens also seem to have access to legal advice on how to avoid getting deported or how to present a claim for asylum. How much of all of this gets funded by the federal taxpayer? As another gigantic example, illegal aliens are supposedly not eligible for Medicaid and other federal medical assistance. Does anybody think that the Biden administration actually enforced this rule? How many illegal aliens in fact are receiving federally-funded medical care?

DEI. Over the past few years, a whole infrastructure of “diversity, equity and inclusion” stuff has been put together — staffs in every business and school, training programs, curricula, books, etc., etc. Who has been paying for this, particularly in the education sector? On February 11, Fox News here reported that DOGE had found and cut some $100 million of spending in the Department of Education directed toward DEI training programs in public schools. That is a start, but clearly is just a tiny piece of total spending on DEI. How much have the federal taxpayers been spending to support this propaganda?

Climate alarm. As with DEI, schools are filled with an infrastructure of climate alarm propaganda, ranging from staff training to curricula to textbooks and more. How much is the federal government spending on this?

Those are just a few categories that occur to me today. The funding model of agencies like USAID appears to be to make multi-million dollar grants to left-wing NGOs for high-minded sounding topics like “promoting democracy,” and then the NGOs spend the money as they see fit. It would not surprise me at all if we start to learn that things like Antifa and Black Lives Matter got large amounts of back-door funding that originated with the federal taxpayer. And how about the wave of anti-semitic demonstrations and riots that broke out on U.S. campuses in the aftermath of the massacre of October 7, 2023? Was federal taxpayer money involved in supporting that? I would actually be surprised if it wasn’t.

DOGE and The Resistance, Part VI

Many years ago I had an account that started a business, and did so because his company shut down.  He was also the President of their union, and he was used to making a good living.  He said during negotiations the company was always complaining how the cost of taxes and regulations was becoming a major financial burden, at which he says he scoffed and dismissed that as a negotiating tactic.   Then the company closed, and his good living was no better than his unemployment checks.

 

As I said, he was used to making a good living so he thought if those dodos could run a business he certainly could do it and do it better.  So he bought a donut shop and started making deliveries and did well, but he said he'd laughed at the company's complaints, but when he owned his own business, he found what they complained about was accurate, and the light shined through. 

 

No one is owed a job! No job carries a lifetime agreement, unless you're a federal judge, and their abuses show that needs changing.  Lifetime job guarantees always lead to abuses because there are no consequences for failure.    

 

Trump should end government unions - Trump has the will to do this, it will be the most important blow he can strike against the inefficient, partisan bureaucracy.

But the nation's bureaucrats do not have guaranteed lifetime employment, and these recipients who are corruptly receiving all that money from USAID, FEMA, and others yet to be named, somehow think turning off the money spigot by Trump is their money.  They are now going to find out it's not their money, and Trump is going to make sure they understand that perfectly, the corrupt federal judicial rulings against him notwithstanding.   And now they've all opened themselves up to investigations, including the judiciary.   

 

Trump has offered these overpaid, over pampered, incompetent, abusive, under performing, and rebellious almost treasonous bureaucrats a good deal to resign, and an opportunity to go out and find worthwhile employment, and there's been some kickback.

 

The brouhaha is not really about the offer itself, but about the meaning it has for each employee. Many employees assumed that they would have a job for life, and that the government owed them lifetime employment; thus, they felt betrayed. Others worry about the difficulties they may encounter finding a private sector job. Still others fear the unknown, what the experience of having six months off will be like, and how their friends and families will react.

The vast majority of these people have no work experience outside government.  Many went to college and had their brains contaminated with leftist insanity, and then to government.  So they never held down real jobs.  They've never started their own businesses, they have no concept of the sacrifice it takes to start a business, especially the first two years, to which I can attest is a nightmare with lost sleep, unending hours of work, fear you'll lose everything.  Stress as they've never known it, nor conceived of.  Much of which they and their peers are responsible for, having terrified America for the last 80 years.  Make no mistake, they know it's been a scam, and they most likely have little to offer in the real world, and they're scared.  Just like my account, the light now shines through.  Can they say, "Welcome to McDonalds"? 

 

I'm looking forward to the study that's sure to be done with-in the next two years showing where these people ended up, and how they fared having to deal with life's challenges, just like the rest of the nation.  Especially since the vast majority of them will be leaving the states near Washington D.C. and have to move outside their echo chamber existence.   Jack Hellner notes the DC pigs are squealing saying:

The media, bureaucrats, and politicians—all mostly Democrats—squealed like stuck pigs when President Trump, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy pointed out all of the wasteful spending that was in the 1,500 page Continuing Resolution; these government hacks couldn’t stand that their sweet little deal of handing out trillions of our dollars every few months to political supporters who would then line their pockets in return was blocked!  Now, an article from USA Today says that that act of blocking a bill full of pork indicated that Trump’s second term would be disruptive—as if that is a bad thing!......

Andrea Widburg states correctly that Trump’s attack on the Deep State is spectacular and almost certainly legal, and we should just sit back and enjoy the screams and lamentations of the leftists as their taxpayer-funded boondoggle finally comes to an end.

The party of "no one is above the law" who still falsely claims January 6 was an insurrection, are now doing everything they can think of to stop Trump's agenda to expose the Democrat party's corruption in the federal government, including shutting down the government.   But that is a good thing, that will make it easier to get rid of them.

The Democrat Party is more like Democrat Party Inc.  No longer a political party, it's a criminal organization.  Like the mob they want the money, and that takes power.  They've scrapped every positive policy in favor of corruption and globalism, and scream tyranny when Trump demands competence, accountability, transparency, and election integrity.  

Government Gangsters’ Chronicles the Deep State’s Plot to Destroy Trump - “Government gangsters are the group of individuals—career bureaucrats—who have been installed by what we call the deep state into every agency and department in the United States government,” explains Kash Patel, the narrator of the new documentary film Government Gangsters.......... They pick a target and fabricate accusations,” he explains. “Then they deploy assets across agencies like the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Department of Justice to gather intelligence supporting their false claims. They leak these false findings to sympathetic mainstream media, which reinforce the original accusation with articles and news stories. Finally, they use federal machinery to bring down their target.”

The Democrats will continue to obstruct with lies, and unfounded charges that generate emotional responses, since they know they can't hold on to power without a corrupted bureaucracy in place, and they've a lot of allies in the bureaucracy who will do whatever it takes to prevent their political demise.  One climate change’ officer vowed to resist Trump’s reforms, and if it hasn't already happened, at some point he's fired.

We're hearing talk of the Democrats forming a "Shadow Government", but they already had one: The federal bureaucracy.  But that's going to be dismantled as a result of the end of the Chevron Doctrine,  and Trump's dismantling these agencies.  And done so quickly and so thoroughly it's prompted Democrat Governors, and Congress members to from a 'Shadow Government', a government that has absolutely no Constitutional foundation.   The party of "no one is above the law", and the January 6th protest was an insurrection as great or not greater than the Civil War, is "stepping right up to the line of open rebellion", openly making plans to "resist constitutionally established authority".

Elected officials are telling government agencies to defy Trump's DEI directives, and within the bureaucracy, including the ATF, attempting to subvert Trump's directives, by disguising their DEI programs, or like the the FBI sweeping their DEI scheme under the rug, and the Pentagon freaking out trying to hide the evidence of the DEI schemes.   But this isn't going to work like it did his first term, and he's made it clear there will be "adverse consequences for failing to report obfuscated programs."  This is like a hurricane as has never been seen sweeping away all in its path, and if it hasn't happened already, it won't be long before they're going to hear "the two words" that are the vertebrae and ribs of the Trump administration: "You're Fired". 

DOGE, and The Fourth Branch, Part IV

During the Civil War the South had better generals and better soldiers at the start of the war. What they didn't have was bodies.  The population in the North was much greater than in the South, and while the South humiliated the Union army at the beginning of the war that changed as the Northern troops became experienced, and Lincoln fired incompetent generals.  From that point on Lincoln created a "attack everywhere" strategy the South simply couldn't counter because they didn't have the manpower or the needed supplies, and Lincoln made Grant the head of the Union army, the man he refused to fire for drinking "because he fights".   A general who was capable of carrying out that plan.   

That's exactly the strategy Trump is employing with the federal government in his attack on the Deep State. Those are the two winning points Trump has on his side. 

1. He's coming after them from many fronts.  Eric Utter calls his strategy  “Everything, Everywhere, All At Once”  Not only is the Deep State in a state of shock, so too is the Democrat party and the media.  You can almost see the panic in their eyes. 
2. He has his "generals" in place who like Grant, "they fight", who are willing and capable of carrying out his plans.  "This is it. This is the big one. The Mother of All Battles." 

Eric goes on to quote Thomas Payne who because of his pamphlet Common Sense some consider Payne to be the Father of the American Revolution because it "galvanized public support for the Revolution", saying:  

"The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow.”

As the DOGE team continues to expose how corrupt these bureaucracies have been, including potential charges of treason on the the horizon, the public is outraged.  Anyone attacking Trump, the DOGE team, conservatives and the House and Senate hearing committees investigating all this is going to face a backlash, and they won't be able to counter that because the facts will speak for themselves, and the Pravda media won't be able to help them as it has almost no influence in America any longer.  They've lied to America for decades and now they've been exposed, and America will not forget or forgive them for that. 

The scale of corruption is off the charts and it turns out USAID has been funding the media, including the Trump hating Bill Kristol, and now that America is seeing where that money is going, America doesn't like it, including the vast sums wasted in what they call "foreign aid".

The swamp is going to be drained.  There's wailing of doom and gloom in Washington  insisting  the nation can't survive these changes.  But this didn't just happen. It went on for decades and both political parties passively participated it this growing cancer.  And it's been an expensive cancer.   The administrative state must be reformed, and now, because if it doesn't happen now, it won't happen, and that takes surgery with the leftists fighting against that with ever once of strength they can muster, including lies and personal attacks, and if what I'm reading is true, physical attacks also.  

These agencies "colluded with the Democrat Party to take down Trump. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent by the administrative state and Democrats to defeat, impeach, and imprison President Trump. Government agencies also undermine the security and interests of the American people."

Progressives of the early 20th century gave birth to government bureaucracy as we know it today. They passed the 16th amendment, imposing an income tax on the American people in 1913. Government spending rose from $715 million in 1913 to $5.1 billion in 1921. Expansive government has been pushed on Americans with catchy branding like the New Deal, Great Society, and Green New Deal. In 1900 there were six government agencies. Today there are fifteen

 

The recently sworn it Attorney General "Pam Bondi is establishing a "Weaponization Working Group", and they're going to look very seriously at the corrupt activities of DOJ prosecutors, and FBI agents who worked to destroy Trump, and I have no doubt that will expand into a lot of areas where the FBI clearly violated the Constitutional rights of American citizens at the behest of the DOJ via the Biden administration, and they intend to go after the corrupt prosecutors and judges in the New York cases.

 

Tulsi Gabbard nomination has advanced to the Senate, and I've no doubt she'll be confirmed, and she will be tasked via executive order to examine the "weaponization of the agencies under her purview", joining Bondi, Hegseth, Rubio as Trump's generals, and with the aid of Musk's superb DOGE team. 

 

Tulsi Gabbard, the Smear Machine, and the Battle for America’s Intelligence Integrity Tulsi Gabbard dared to question the abuse at the hands of the intelligence community, and that’s precisely why the establishment fears her.

 

In spite of all the legislation and vile SCOTUS rulings of the past the Constitution does not authorize an independent self directing administrative state.  The courts are now stating unequivocally:

 

“All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”  

 

The Constitution does not give Congress the power to delegate any of its legislative power to the bureaucracy.

 

Finally, there's all this kickback about how young Musk's team is, but there's a good reason for that.   I'm 78, and worked in intelligence in the service using the most advanced computer systems in the world.  They were massive, heat sensitive, and fragile.  The phones people are carrying in their back pockets will do far more today.... far more.  So, while I'm computer literate, compared to the kids today, I'm not anywhere near as capable as they.   So why am I going in this direction?  

 

We now know how the DOGE team has been able to uncover this mass of information so quickly.  They're using AI, and it's these young computer geniuses who are needed, and that's why they're there.  The amount of information they will be gathering will be a nuclear bomb for the Deep State.

Now that's what I call pest control!

Well, Donald Trump is President of the United States and the Deep State is in trouble, and the Democrat party is now facing a far more formidable foe than they've ever faced in their history since Abraham Lincoln.  He's determined to crush the Deep State and after crushing USAID, he's going after the Department of Education, and with Pam Bondi confirmed as Attorney General, Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, along with Kash Patel sure to be confirmed as Director of the FBI, and Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence life in Washington DC is going to become frightening for the Deep State.   Entertaining for the rest of us though as this will be a schadenfreude moment in time. 

 

I think we can reasonably conclude it's perp walk time in America.  The Democrats and their myrmidons in the Pravda media loved their corrupt perp walk reality shows in the past.  I'm betting they won't like them in the future, and I'm betting a lot of higher echelon leftists are sweating now. 

Before he was elected the question was asked, Who Can Donald Trump Count On?, as we know he was stabbed in the back by everyone, including the Republican party, the CIA, the Secret Service, the FBI, the DOJ, all myrmidons of the Democrat party, but that's about to change.   

 

The fact is the Deep State is at war with ‘America and the American People’.  General Michael Flynn who was a target of the Deep State in his documentary film Flynn: Deliver the Truth. Whatever the Cost, says:

“In order to get Trump they had to get Flynn, and we now have all this incredible levels of evidence that has been exposed principally through my case. So my case fighting back, doing the things we do despite all the crazy people out there that, you know, that name-call you, and other media outlets that still do that to this day. Everybody knows the truth. And what I know is, I know a little bit more of the truth, and what I’m going to do with this film, flynnmovie.com, is I’m going to expose some of that truth,”.......

What we've found out now is the Deep State is deeper than we thought, and is filed with enemies of the American Constitution. 

The uniparty and the Deep State conspired to destroy Trump, and has been doing so for over eight years, and he's survived.  The "Get Trump" playbook involved the media, RINO'S,  Hollywood, CIA, FBI, DOJ, National Security Council, the Mueller "Inquisition", the corruption of the rule of law and corrupt prosecutions by corrupt prosecutors and judges.  Not to mention the corrupt media and their charges of racism, fascism, and misogyny, so now we're seeing successes from Trump as no one has ever seen before.  

This time he's not walking in without a support team that's totally on his side, and will do everything they can do destroy the corruption that permeates the federal government, and at all levels.  He's shining a massive spotlight on that corruption and America is outraged.  It wasn't "conspiracy theories" after all, it was reality!

Democrats: Trashing the past, ruining the present, stealing our future - It is all working out as planned for the progressives. They divide us, break us up, atomize us, make us hate each other, drive us all crazy. And then the shootings occur. And then they have us scared. And then they can control us, disarm us, and lock us down ”for our own good.”  Meaning, their ever-growing, eternal power...... because they know they can use them to their advantage -- in both the short and the long term. That is the true nature of the evil we are facing. And it is an evil that cannot be defeated unless we are willing to make it so, no matter the cost. The cost of not doing so is unimaginable......

Victor Davis Hanson in his Nov 24, 2021 article, Losing Confidence in the Pillars of Our Civilization, states:

Millions of citizens long ago concluded that professional sports, academia, and entertainment were no longer disinterested institutions, but far Left and deliberately hostile to Middle America. Yet American conservatives still adamantly supported the nation's traditional investigatory, intelligence, and military agencies - especially when they came under budgetary or cultural attacks.  Not so much anymore. For the first time in memory, conservatives now connect the FBI hierarchy with bureaucratic bloat, political bias, and even illegality........Never has the proper advisory role of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff been so brazenly usurped and contorted..........Few reporters have yet offered apologies for helping hatch and spread the Russian collusion hoax that paralyzed the country for three years.......

Few reporters suggested that federal health agencies such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases might be disseminating contradictory or even inaccurate information about the pandemic. To believe this was happening instead earned condemnation in the media as if one were some conspiracy theorist or nut............District attorneys in several major cities - Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and St. Louis - have often predicated prosecuting crimes on the basis of ideology, race, and careerism.

I think a valid argument can be made that the regulatory code is unconstitutional, all 200,000 pages of it.  Since the SCOTUS Loper Bright decision overturning the Chevron Doctrine finally put to rest the idea a self directed bureaucracy has no Constitutional basis, making it clear the Constitution invests the legislative functions of the United States solely in the hands of Congress, and not unelected tyrannical bureaucrats.

As for the bureaucracy; that can be dealt with as a budgetary issue. Since Chevron was overturned, it's going to be difficult to justify having all these mini dictators on the payroll, starting with the EPA.

Then simply ignore their schemes and hire and fire as necessary and let them sue. Just like Obama and Biden have done when federal law stands in opposition to their ideological schemes, immigration being the best example of that.

One more thing. Conservatives need to make overturning Sullivan a top priority. Once these lying media trash start getting sued for libel, things will start to go much smoother.

Imagine What It Means to be American - If we were to catalog the attributes of our Founders vital to the creation of our nation, love of liberty and courage would likely top that list. Close behind would be a more subtle quality empowered by liberty, that of imagination. It is imagination and its implicit sense of wonder that drives our quest for knowledge and ultimately human progress. Our Founding Fathers had no template for creating our government; they had to imagine it based on the imperfect experiences of prior republics. Imagination is the seed of discovery, the spark that ignites our hunger for the knowledge that was once a common American cause.

 

How did we get where we are now? Because we no longer truthfully teach who we were, we don't know who we are, and haven't a clue who we should be. But that was the goal of the left in public education since the late 19th century. As I read this I thought of this article, "A Stranger in Town", 1943, explaining who we need to be!

Both self confident people and arrogant people want to be right. The difference is self confident people are willing to accept correction in order to be right. Arrogant people will accept no correction, and all of these leftist halfwits are arrogant.   Compile arrogance with ignorance, and you get Woke, and the sooner they get crushed the better. 

Election 2024: Kamala to Jews: “Over Your dead bodies!” Deep state to Trump & maga: “Yours too!”

 Kamala and the deep state’s dire transformation of an idiom is moving at warp speed.

The idiom, “over my dead body”, is meant to be an exaggerated way of saying, you’ll have to kill me before I let you do that! The hyperbole isn’t to be taken literally, but recent actions by Kamala, Democrats, and the deep state seem to have “turned” the phrase on its head, sans hyperbole.

The list of negative actions and inactions against Jews by Kamala, Democrats, and the deep state is too long to itemize. Their lust to retain power has gone beyond dirty politics having become proactively kinetic, seemingly saying to us all, we’ll win “Over YOUR dead bodies; Jews!”, and “Over YOUR dead bodies; Trump & MAGA, not ours!

I assessed an increasing probability that an “event” would happen in one or more swing states. That the FBI’s Chris Wray would investigate, concluding Kamala won all those electoral votes and the presidency. Today, my assessment probabilities have been eclipsed with physical violence to Mr. Trump overtaking my suggested “event” scenario.

Concomitant scenarios are unfolding. The administration has all but abandoned the Jews trading their lives for votes, an easy task to carry out being ingrained antisemites. Concurrently, lawfare is vigorously pursued against any perceived political enemy. They seem to have stepped up their game this year preparing the nation for Mr. Trump’s demise.

Armaments are being slow-walked to Israel for their war, while they go unprotected in the USA. “Lawfare” is unleashed against MAGA and Christians, while protection levels are debated after two assassination attempts and one plot to kill Donald Trump have taken place; his poor safety levels appear intentional.

The daily leaks are increasing in frequency and “warning” levels are spiking. Seems the nation is purposefully being desensitized to remove a shocked reaction following a successful attack, but never fear because, in the aftermath, FBI’s Chris Wray will get to the bottom of it…expect a quick arrest, fake news, and self-aggrandizing testimony to quickly put the “tragedy” behind us.

This is my final assessment of the state of the 2024 election. I have formed the opinion that the nation and world stability will be sacrificed by the left for completion of Barack Hussein Obama’s mission statement to fundamentally transform America to a post constitutional government.  They will never allow Trump to sit in the Oval Office, it’s to their peril!

More On The Adams Indictment

Does the indictment of Eric Adams represent a bona fide prosecution of a dishonest politician, or is it mainly retribution against a political opponent by a deeply corrupt DOJ and FBI? As several commenters on yesterday’s post noted, we have come to a very sad point when our first thought upon an indictment of a politician is that it may well represent the deep state using its powers to take out a political opponent. But after four years of the deeply politicized Biden-Harris-Garland Justice Department, that’s where we are. And it is entirely appropriate for the citizenry to evaluate the present indictment in light of the DOJ’s conduct throughout the course of this administration.

Unlike my usual approach, I wrote the post yesterday immediately after learning about and reading the indictment, and before allowing any time for things to settle down. Today many other voices have weighed in. In this post I’ll consider a few of them. But the bottom line is, there is every reason to believe that this indictment is mostly politically motivated, and has little or nothing to do with fighting real corruption.

Let’s look first at a few things that might at first seem to support the bona fides of the indictment. The New York Post today in its news pages devotes six pages to the charges. Most of that coverage just runs through and highlights the allegations, thus giving them substantial credibility, whether deserved or not.

Here is an example. The headline for the article on page 4 is “Fancy flights, $10M for elex in fed raps.” (The online headline is different, but similarly references the allegation that Adams “fraudulently got $10M in public funds.”). Is there really a charge in this indictment that Adams fraudulently got $10 million in public campaign funds? If so, that would be a big deal, perhaps even on a par with Biden’s collecting $10 million from the government of China. But in fact the $10 million figure is almost entirely unrelated to the actual charges in the case and was clearly thrown in in a disgraceful effort to prejudice Adams.

The allegation about the $10 million in fraudulent campaign funds comes from paragraph 3 of the indictment. The background is that New York City has a program of matching public funds for contributions to politicians running in local races, including for Mayor. The match only applies if the donor is a resident of the jurisdiction where the race takes place, and only applies for donations up to $250. One of the charges in this indictment is that the Adams campaign collected matching funds where the donors were “straw” donors and the real donors did not qualify for the match. Here is the relevant text of the indictment containing the $10 million figure:

ADAMS and those working at his direction falsely certified compliance with applicable campaign finance regulations despite ADAMS’s repeated acceptance of straw donations, relying on the concealed nature of these illegal contributions to falsely portray his campaigns as law-abiding. As a result of those false certifications, ADAMS’s 2021 mayoral campaign received more than $10,000,000 in public funds.

Did you get the impression from that that Adams fraudulently got $10 million in public matching funds. That was clearly the intent, and the headline writer for the Post fell for it. But in fact if you go through the detailed allegations of the indictment, you will find that the specific amounts of “straw” donations alleged come to at most a few tens of thousands of dollars. Most of the donations specifically mentioned came in increments of $2000, of which only the first $250 gets the match. So the amounts of fraudulently obtained matching funds based on the improper donations alleged in the indictment would again be in the range of a few tens of thousands of dollars. 

The $10 million figure is not the amount of matches for these alleged improper donations, but rather is the total amount of matching funds that Adams received during the campaign. The basis for putting the $10 million figure in the indictment, never stated clearly, is apparently that the Adams campaign filed a certification as to its claim for matching funds attesting that all claims were proper. Therefore, somehow, the whole $10 million would be tainted if even one donor were fake.

Notably, despite throwing in the $10 million figure for maximum prejudice against the defendant, there is no charge in the indictment for fraudulently obtaining New York City matching campaign funds. That is undoubtedly because the federal prosecutors have no jurisdiction to prosecute violations of New York State and City campaign finance law. The only campaign finance violations charged in the indictment are violations of federal law prohibiting foreigners from donating to U.S. political campaigns.

Among the outlets giving some credence to the indictment, there is National Review from this morning. Excerpt:

Damian Williams, the Biden-appointed U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), announced a five-count corruption indictment. In a series of schemes tracing back a decade, when he was Brooklyn borough president, Adams is alleged to have put his growing political influence and potential on sale, particularly to foreign bidders. The most energetic of these were from Turkey — emissaries of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s unsavory regime and well-heeled businesspeople adjacent to it.

NR expresses skepticism that the indictment is a political hit job, on the basis that the indictment has potential political risks for the Harris campaign:

Adams’s prosecution, and the certainty that he would accuse the administration of vindictiveness, could only call more attention to Vice President Harris’s role in the collapse of border security — not what she would have wanted six weeks before Election Day.

Maybe, but I doubt it. More likely, the thinking is that the Adams indictment neutralizes him as a critic of the border policy. And meanwhile, the Democratic Party left here in New York hates Adams for many reasons, ranging from his stance on the migrant crisis to his modest support of law and order to the overriding fact that his occupation of the mayoralty prevents them having one of their true believers (like Jumaane Williams or Brad Lander) hold the office.

While the New York Post’s news pages fell for the scam of the $10 million allegation in the indictment, the editorial page and columnists are appropriately more skeptical. In a column today, the excellent Jonathan Turley compares the conduct of Adams alleged here to the conduct of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in connection with the Met Gala three years ago:

[M]any populist politicians tend to be a pampered class who expect to be feted in the best quarters as they speak as the “voice of the people.” That was captured most vividly by NYC Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sashayed at the Met Gala in a designer dress reading “tax the rich.” It was a scene with a crushing irony. The dress itself was worth more than some people make in a year and it was just “loaned” to AOC despite being made specifically for her. She also did not pay for her ticket, which would cost $35,000.

The $35,000 comped Met Gala ticket, and the specially-made dress (probably another $25,000 or so) come to a total not dramatically less than the amounts alleged with respect to Adams here. Has AOC ever done any act as Congresswoman that could be construed as a “quid pro quo” because it somehow benefited the Metropolitan Museum, or perhaps Condé Nast (main sponsor of the Met Gala)? I’ll bet if you had a few million dollars to investigate you could find something at least as significant as Adams expediting a fire inspection for the Turkish consulate. Of course, the FBI and DOJ have no interest. AOC is one of their team.

I’m not contending that Adams is pure as the driven snow. He may well have committed unforced errors, and if so, he will deserve his fate. As I’ve said many times, the entire business of politics is inherently corrupt. But some are much more corrupt than others.

Deep State Stumps for Kamala Harris Because Orange Man Bad

Hundreds of former national security officials put their Trump Derangement Syndrome on display.

Such is the state of modern American political partisanship that people who are, or were, in positions of power and influence say things that are both hilariously out of touch with reality and startlingly dangerous. Take America’s national security community, for example, which is a major component of the Deep State – or, if one prefers a less conspiratorial term, the administrative state. Fifty-one Intelligence Community (IC) officials and former officials already beclowned themselves attempting to deny the veracity of Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop. Now the bureaucrats are at it again, with 741 former high-ranking national security officials signing off on a statement endorsing Kamala Harris for president.

Obviously, these people – just like anyone else – have the right to support whomever they want to see in the White House for the next four years. The problem is there’s no substance to their argument for why Harris would be a better national security pick than former President Donald Trump. Instead, they merely parroted the exact same anti-Trump rhetoric being used by the left-wing media and political pundits, as well as elected Democrats.

The driving force behind this latest attempt to influence voters against Trump is retired US Navy Rear Admiral Michael Smith. He has been actively campaigning against the Republican presidential nominee for some time. On January 4, speaking to veterans and their families in Milwaukee, WI, he described the 45th president as “an existential threat to everything I swore to defend.” He continued: “literally, democracy is on the ballot.” There’s that phrase again. It has been used by Kamala Harris on at least one occasion and by several other elected Democrats, as well as by anti-Trumpers who have served in Republican administrations. It is also the exact phrase used in at least one social media post by Ryan Routh, who, on September 15, attempted to shoot Mr. Trump on a golf course.

At the Milwaukee event, Smith also said: “We’re not supposed to get involved in politics,” referring to former senior military officers. “They tell us, stay out of politics. But the threat that Donald Trump and his ultra-MAGA accomplices presents, it just compels me … to break with that tradition.”

The statement released by Smith and his deep state colleagues reads, in part: “Vice President Harris has all the leadership qualities needed to be a strong commander in chief. She’s prepared. She’s strategic. She understands all sides of an issue. We saw as much during the debate.”

How Smith and his cabal decided that Harris “understands all sides of an issue” by watching her recent debate performance against Trump is a complete mystery. It is entirely accurate to state that Harris failed to provide direct, rational, and factually correct responses to any of the questions she was asked during the televised confrontation with Trump.

The vice president’s response to a question about the withdrawal from Afghanistan should have concerned any objective national security official. After praising Joe Biden for pulling American troops out, Harris stated something that is entirely untrue. If she did not consciously lie, then her profound ignorance of America’s military posture overseas is nothing short of terrifying, considering that she wants to be the next commander-in-chief.

“As of today,” Harris stated during the debate, “there is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone in any war zone around the world…” That the ABC moderators did not challenge her on this outrageously inaccurate statement was bad enough. That 741 former national security officials are aware of Harris’s claim and still conclude that she would make a great commander-in-chief is truly jaw-dropping.

The reality, as just about every other American knows, is that US military personnel are under fire almost every day in Syria and Iraq. American sailors currently deployed in the Red Sea and Eastern Mediterranean are also under constant threat of attack.

Deep State Desperation to Stop Trump

It is only fair to conclude, then, that within the deep state, anti-Trump sentiment is so intense and all-consuming that these people are willing to support a candidate who publicly demonstrates an astounding level of either ignorance or dishonesty, purely to ensure that Trump does not return to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

The statement in support of Kamala Harris went on: “As we’ve seen for nearly a decade, however, former President Trump has none of those qualities, and he has a scary authoritarian streak.” Yet, if Trump were truly the authoritarian and wannabe dictator his opponents make him out to be, he would have moved quickly, during his first term in the White House, to ensure that he need not even run for re-election. Would-be tyrants do not come to power and then give their people even an opportunity to simply vote them out of office four years later.

If Trump really did have an authoritarian streak, Joe Biden would not be in the White House today. Additionally, a great many Trump critics and political opponents would have been imprisoned – or worse – by the time Trump had been in office for even two years. This is the huge flaw in the “Trump wants to be a dictator” argument. He has been president for four years, and so, if he wanted to be a dictator, he already would be.

If these former federal officials were able to make a compelling fact-based argument for why they believe Kamala Harris would be the best choice for America, they would have more credibility. They have failed to do so precisely because Harris has never displayed either the knowledge, the judgment, or the temperament to indicate that she is the best person for the job. That statement would hold true regardless of who she was running against in the 2024 presidential election. The only conclusion to be drawn, then – and it is a disappointing one indeed, to say the very least – is that hundreds of former and perhaps current deep state bureaucrats favor Harris not because she has proven herself to be a strong and competent leader who will keep America safe, but because, quite simply, she is not Donald Trump.

Well, in all six seasons of I love Lucy, Ricky never really exactly said that to Lucy, but, does it matter?  It's become another one of those legendary misquoted catchphrases that fits the bill for so many situations....soooo....."Kimberly, you got some splaining to do!!"

I initially thought it was ironic hackers can break into the most secure sites on the planet, but the FBI couldn't break into Crook's phone.  Well, they finally did, but it took "advanced, unreleased technology from digital intelligence company Cellebrite to access the phone".  Where in the world did Thomas Matthew Crooks get that kind of technology to protect his phone.  He certainly didn't get it from Verizon.  As Shakespeare said, "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark". 

 

The efforts to prevent discovery are in place as Senator Hawley recently discovered when he tried to visit the site and the FBI told him to leave they didn't want him there.   Not the usual treatment of a sitting Senator who chairs investigative committees.    

 

Hawley: Briefing with Secret Service Director ‘Did Not Go Well’ — ‘She Was Not Well-Prepared’ Neil, what we know about this is that there were 62 minutes, 62, between the time that the Secret Service identified the shooter as a person of interest, somebody acting suspiciously, and the time he started firing shots at the president...........How did they allow this to happen? Why did they allow a good American to be killed? Why did they allow Trump to go on stage knowing they had a potential shooter? It’s outrageous......Here's what we know....maybe.... since yesterday's facts become today's falsehood.  The lies are everywhere and at every level.  That's one of the things we know that's not a maybe, so let's start with this fact that's indisputable.  The left is at war with America, and Donald Trump is in the way.  All of the lawfare attempts to destroy Trump have failed or are failing, therefore:

Joe Biden suggested that “It’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.” In addition, the Democrats directed an immense campaign of demagoguery and lies against Trump, shamelessly insinuating that his comeback would result in economic chaos, inflation, and an existential threat to “democracy.” The mainstream media, whose opposition to Trump is a permanent part of the current political landscape, featured images of Trump resembling Hitler on the cover of magazines."

 

Is that part of a Deep State Conspiracy?  I'll tell you what, we'll come back to that, but let's start with the assassin. 

 

Thomas Matthew Crooks

 

Initially everything we thought we knew about him has not been entirely accurate. First, initially I didn't give any credence to this being bigger than Thomas Matthew Crooks, a troubled young person, but that's changing rapidly.  Initially it was claimed he had no mental issues, but now it's being reported he had mental issues and may have been on medication.   

 

The FBI’s Initial Call on “No Mental Health Issues” Appears to be Wrong It was just 48 hours ago that the FBI assured the American public that the would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, did not have any mental illness problems. This, of course, is odd because most of the recent shooters had mental illness problems and were being seriously medicated with prescribed psychiatric mind-altering drugs. Today, however, an “Exclusive” by the Daily Mail reports that family friends find that mental illness may have been in play. For example, according to unnamed family friends, he (crooks) was “increasingly disturbed young man who grew his hair long, isolated himself from friends and became plagued by mental health disturbances that led some to believe he was either bi-polar or schizophrenic.”

 

It's now being reported he did not like Donald Trump, and he threatened to shoot up his school, freshman year, and if that's true how could he not be on someone's watch list.

As the story unfolds there's a lot of disturbing facts emerging indicating planning, technology, and potential connections, and unexplained security reactions.  

First he was spotted behaving suspiciously early on, and nothing was done, even after his parents called police about him. He flew a drone over the site earlier, here, and here.  The Secret Service flew no drones over the site on the day of the shooting.   He hid his rifle in advance.  He had two cell phones and and 3 encrypted accounts overseas.   As I've already discussed, the encryption of his cell phone was so advanced the FBI couldn't crack it and had to get help from a tech company with unreleased new technology.  

How did he get such advanced technology?  Bombs were found in his car.  Where did the bombs come from?  And now it's being claimed there were least three different weapons fired during Trump shooting.  One by Crooks, one by the Secret Service sniper, and, another by an unknown shooter.  Furthermore there are serious doubts any investigation conducted by the FBI or the Secret Service can be trusted.

Strange Security Measures and Reactions 

 In this article, Dealey Plaza 2.0? Ray DiLorenzo comments:

Evil and incompetence are sometimes indistinguishable. But the people are in no mood for obfuscation or lies.  

He goes on to ask these questions, all of which need answering under oath.

If authorities identified a man with a rifle on that roof, why did they allow Trump to go out there and speak? They knew at least 7 minutes prior to the shooting that a suspicious person was on a roof, with a rifle just 150 yards away.

If the SS says they are shorthanded........It's been reported that many of the 'agents' were not Secret Service at all, but Homeland Security, not familiar with Secret Service protocols. As Trump was being rushed to his car after the shooting, about a dozen men in SWAT garb appeared out of nowhere. Where were they prior to the shooting?.....You can reasonably take away three elements: Unless the Secret Service is utterly incompetent,

1. The shooter was allowed to be on the roof.
2. He was allowed to take the shot(s)
3. He was killed, so he couldn't talk.

This allowed shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, to move unmolested outside the perimeter........Yet, the predominant question right now is why the rooftop where Crooks was perched, less than 200 yards from the stage, was left unguarded despite being flagged as a security vulnerability. .............Cheatle explained that the absence of a team on the rooftop where Crooks was perched was due to security concerns for the physical safety of the agents because the roof was sloped. Whoever signed off on that being made public should be fire—no one believes it because its facially untrue. 

And the story keeps getting more sordid by the day:

The question that must be asked and answered is this.  When the Secret Service sniper saw him on the roof with a rifle why didn't they shoot?  We now know there were a full 26 minutes to prevent the assassin from shooting at Trump.  It's also reported "at least one sniper/spotter team had the assassin in their sights for some three minutes but were denied clearance to shoot".  If that's true, then who refused permission to shoot, and why?  Is this failure by the Secret Service just blatant incompetence on the part of the Secret Service, or was it more?  

 

Did the Secret Service look like highly trained  competent professionals, or did they look like the Keystone Kops as a result of their embrace of DEI?   More here, and here.  

 

Truthfully, while I despise this whole corrupt embrace of DEI by both government and industry, and while it may have been a component in this mess, I don't consider that a critical factor.  Yeah, saying that shocks me too.  The real question is, Who green-lit the Trump shooting?:

 

Now ask yourself, cui bono? Who benefits most from Trump being removed from the picture? The entire Democrat Party, sure, but who would have the power to authorize such a nefarious scheme? A Deep State operative in one of the alphabet agencies? One of the puppet masters pulling decrepit Joe Biden’s strings? What about the Biden crime family itself? Who would benefit more than Trump’s corrupt, floundering opponent Joe? Or perhaps wife Jill, who is determined to keep her husband in the Oval Office no matter what? Perhaps even their convicted-felon son Hunter, whose fortunes (and a presidential pardon) are directly tied to Dad’s?

Iran has been promoting terrorism, and assassinations all over the world, in this article of July 18, 2024, Reflections on the 30th Anniversary of the AIMA Bombing, by Alejo Vidal-Quadras wherein he states:

Thursday marks the 30^th anniversary of one of the deadliest terrorist attacks to be carried out in the Western hemisphere. The bombing of the Argentine Israeli Mutual Association building on July 18, 1994, claimed 85 lives and left a trail of scandal in its wake which is still having repercussions to this day. No one has ever been held legally accountable for the incident, though it has become increasingly apparent over the past three decades that the attack was planned by the Iranian regime and carried out by its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah.

Did you know that?  No?  Well, don't feel bad, I didn't either.  Why?  Simple, that's not a song the media wanted to sing.  He goes on to list more attacks over the years, and after they attempted to assassinate him he stated:

I think it can easily be said America dodged a major bullet, and other than a successful assassination of Donald Trump, I can't imagine anything that would outrage America more. Now the Failed Trump Assassination Attempt Did Two Things for Dems, None of Them Good, and Senior House Dem: ‘We’ve All Resigned Ourselves to a Second Trump Presidency’.   Finally, this whole thing embarrassed the White House so badly they've final agreed to give RFK Jr. Secret Service protection he merited and deserved from the beginning. 

 

Apparently Kimberly is going to testify before Congress today, well, "Kimberly, you got some splaining to do!"  And given her propensity to lie, this should be interesting.
