If There is No Truth, Then Neither Heresy Nor Treason Exist!

I originally published this on October 5, 2014, and again on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, and for some reason it's being hit a lot now.  As I read it I thought to myself; I need to re-publish this again.  Remember, this was published 12 years ago, and look at how dramatically and quickly American culture has morphed into a downward swirl of insanity.  

This article is about foundational thinking. For anything to be successful it has to have foundational logic supporting all that takes place. For America, the Bible and the U.S. Constitution are foundational to the American story and the basis for American exceptionalism. Those are the two foundations I wish to ponder here.  The Holy Bible and the U.S. Constitution and the modern implications for both.   

There was a recent poll of U.S. Catholics taken that claims most Catholics back same-sex marriage claiming In an article by Lucy Madison which appeared on March 8, 2013 she states that:

"amid growing support for same-sex marriage nationwide, a new poll from Quinnipiac University shows that most Catholics in the U.S. also back same-sex marriage, despite the church's teachings against it."

She goes on to say that:

"According to the poll, which surveyed 497 adult Catholics from February 27 - March 4 with a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent, 54 percent of Catholic voters support same-sex marriage, while 38 percent oppose it. The survey shows a dramatic shift on the subject in the last few years: In a July 2008 poll by Quinnipiac, only 36 percent of Catholic voters said they supported same-sex marriage, while 55 percent opposed it."

Among 1,944 registered voters surveyed in the same poll, 47 percent supported same-sex marriage and 43 percent opposed it. A December poll asking the same question showed a statistical tie on the issue, at 48 percent in support and 46 percent in opposition." 

I'm not all that impressed with polls because they are so easily twisted, but for my readers who are believers, Catholic or otherwise, I think this is worth pondering for a while.  If this poll is accurate, it would appear heresy is far more rampant than most realized. It would also appear that religious conviction is expected to adhere to public opinion, which was predicted.  

"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear".  2 Timothy 4:3

Does this imply they don't believe the hand of God is behind the Bible?  If that is the case, and it appears that it is, what hope is there to get people to honor a manmade document such as the U.S. Constitution?

Believers are taught to believe the Bible was inspired by God.  You know, the one believers are supposed to be worshiping. Yet, thousands of years of Biblical writings and teaching are being ignored or twisted by those who claim to believe. If that is the case, and it appears that it is, then one would suppose there are a great many "believers" who think God lies, or he has no idea what he's talking about, or that the writings are solely the works of men, or at the very least, question even if he exists.  All that makes the Bible of no more worth than the insane ramblings of Karl Marx.   If that's so, and it appears it is, then they simply ignore the Biblical teachings and replace them with which ever philosophical flavor of the day comes down the pike. 

Truth exists, whether we like it or not. We don’t create truth; we find it, and we have no power to change it to our tastes. The truth may not make us comfortable, but it does make us free. How could such a thing happen in a nation known for its Christian religious foundation? This has happened slowly over a course of decades. This came about because the Bible, and the surrounding history and commentaries aren't taught in the churches, and neither is it done at home. All of which was done regularly in the past. Thousands of years of Biblical writings and teaching are being ignored or twisted.  

Public and higher education has been instrumental in undermining those traditional and foundational values that made the American culture possible.   Was the American culture ever perfect?  No, but with all our faults, still the greatest culture the world has ever known, bringing more people out of misery and suffering than any other in all of human history.  America never offered perfection.  What America offered the most acceptable imperfection.

Sir Roger Scruton once noted:

A writer who says there are no truths, or that all truth is merely relative, is asking you not to believe him.  So don't.   So then why is society choosing to believe those who shouldn't be believed, and ignoring those who need to be believed?   

Now we come to the finest secular document ever conceived of by man, the U.S. Constitution, which isn't studied in the nation's schools, nor is it read privately, which is far more easily read and understood than the sixty six books of the Bible, yet few have read it, fewer understand it, and as a result, few realize what's been lost.  

That leaves one to believe the Constitution, the second primary foundation to justify the American system, has little value to the average citizen because the history behind it is being twisted or ignored. Once again; the Bible and the U.S. Constitution are foundational to the American story and the basis for American exceptionalism.  If either one is discarded the great American experiment is finished.  

John Adams said, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Morality and virtue are the foundation of our republic and necessary for a society to be free.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matt. 7:26  

Everyone, believer or non-believer, can surely see the wisdom in that parable. Everything has a historical foundation, and everything we are told should bear some resemblance to what we see going on in reality. But, it really is incumbent upon us to pay just a “tiny little bit of attention” to what is going on for that to have any meaning in our lives. And from talking to so many people I truly think believers and non-believers alike fear a storm is coming. 

There is one more point I would like for everyone to ponder for a while. If one claims to be a believer and yet supports views that are antithetical to their belief system it's called heresy. 

If one claims to be an American yet works to undermine the U.S. Constitution, what exactly is that called? We used to call it treason.   

Final thought.

While Sir Roger Scruton was English, his comments strike deeply into the heart of all these destructive current events, not only in England, but in America and the entirety of Western civilization.

Will you stand by the gnarled oak of Englishness or will you bring on the bulldozers of soulless modernity?  Can you appreciate beauty or are you an enraged devotee of contemporary art? Do you want wholesome food or tasteless, shrink-wrapped crap? Do you care about western civilization or would you be happy to see it demolished. Are you one of us, or one of them?"

Will Americans stand by the solid and stable foundation of the Constitution, or embrace insanity and destruction? That's the entirely of it all.

Don't Let The Crowds Fool You: Culture is King and Corruption is Queen

"Around 25,000 cheering Bronx citizens attended a Trump rally, and it shocked Democrats, after all, this is New York, this can't be happening!  The governor of New York called them "a bunch of clowns", and the media insisted it doesn't mean anything."

As my regular readers know I'm a real fan of American Thinker, which I consider one of the very best news sites in the nation.  On May 25th Monica Showalter, one of my favorite writers, posted this piece, What the Bronx voters who've flipped to Trump are saying, quoting one of the attendees:

Jerry Evans, a registered Democrat in New York City, had never attended a political rally before Thursday.  But speaking with Newsweek at Donald Trump's campaign event in the South Bronx, Evans said that he turned out to show support for the former president because he feels "very strongly about how the border's going."...... "You know, I said, why is Biden giving them the red carpet treatment?"...... "He's giving them everything—giving them housing, giving them shelter, giving them money, cash—and people who live here can't get that."

She went on to ask: How many thousands of them in that 25,000 crowd are thinking the same thing?

No matter how many are thinking along those lines, here's what we need to ask.  Is this enlightenment permanent?   Answer?  No, it isn't!  This is just an “it's my ox that's bring gored” reaction. If their ox wasn’t being gored they’d be just fine with Biden and all the corruption, insanity and treason being promoted by the left, it's part and parcel of their culture.  Make no mistake, both the masses and the rulers are a fickle and self serving lot, and to the point of being dangerous. 

On September 5, 1651 Oliver Cromwell's forces defeated the forces of Charles II.  Later as they were marching into London the crowds cheered vigorously, and one of his followers was enthralled with the cheering.  Cromwell put a reality damper on that saying: 

“Do not trust to the cheering, for those very persons would shout as much if you and I were going to be hanged.”

They're shocked that academia is a cultural, intellectual, and morally corrupt mephitic ooze of inbreeding, being led by grossly overpaid, blatantly incompetent DEI racists, and leftist/Marxist/anti-American ideologues, many of whom are now being exposed as plagiarists.  A ethically, intellectually and morally deficient cabal who have been turning out graduates who can't read, write, or have a working knowledge of history, geography, or how and why America is unique in all of world history.  They're not even competent in their fields of study.  And that it's been going on for decades.

So, don't let the cheering fool you.  People without a solid moral foundation have meandering values that allow them to rationalize their acts of self interest and corruption.   Cromwell defeated a corrupt King in 1651, and then had to dissolve Parliament in 1653 for becoming corrupt for their own ends.  When dissolving Parliament Oliver Cromwell made a statement that's totally applicable to our modern day state of corruption:

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice. Ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government. Ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse. Gold is your God. Which of you have not bartered your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defiled this sacred place, and turned the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation. You were deputed here by the people to get grievances redressed, are yourselves become the greatest grievance.

Your country therefore calls upon me to cleanse this Augean stable, by putting a final period to your iniquitous proceedings in this House; and which by God's help, and the strength he has given me, I am now come to do.

I command ye therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place. Go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.  In the name of God, go!

Two questions that need to be asked and answering:

• Does Cromwell's vile description of that Parliament then a fit description of the political figures sitting in positions of power and authority today? 
•  If so; do really think term limits are bad? 

Here are three quotes of my own I think are appropriate for this or any other discussion in order to define reality.  

1. The patterns of life repeat over and over again.
2. Life is about patterns and circles.  Patterns of behavior and the social circles that create that behavior.
3. History, reality, time and truth are on the same side.  
4. Truth isn't unkind. It's just the truth. 
5. People will always be people.  
6. Corruption is the offspring of power, and if that power goes unchecked, then the true child of power emerges:  Tyranny!

What Is It The left Really Wants?

Democrats no longer attempt to make a case for what they believe in and what they promote.  If you disagree you're a racist, homophone, xenophobe, Nazi white supremacist and they "make threats to those who won’t get in line and obey them. 

Screaming, threatening and violently assaulting their opponents.  That's the Democracy they're wanting to save.  

They only talk to news organizations who support them, so I think it's a good idea to see why they refuse to defend their views with those who disagree with them?  Perhaps when we take a look at what "the self-ordained progressive/socialist ruling class" really want and what they support we'll get a clear picture of who and what they are.  

I've harvested this list from a number of articles. Some of these are my thoughts and some are from other articles, but they all certainly resonate.

1. They want control of a single-payer health care
2.  Green New Deal demands an end to the use of "fossil fuels", which would destroy the economy
3.  A mandated use of alternative energy, none of which has anything to do with climate, but it has everything to do with entire changing America's economic system and cannot supply the energy necessary to meet the nation's energy needs, commercially or domestically
4. Universal basic income, for everyone, including those who refuse to work
5. Free college
6. Universal child care (who knows that that really means since they desire to mutilate children is now called "child health care")   
7. Guaranteed government jobs for those willing to work 
8. Massive expansion of welfare programs 
9. Destroy the traditional family 
10. March for trans rights
11. Make the murder of the innocent unborn a Constitutional right 
12. Controlling or eliminate religion
13. Stopping/controlling freedom of speech
14. The elimination of conscience as a moral guide replacing it with totalitarian ideology making the state the ultimate moral arbiter
15. Eliminating the idea some things really are right an some things really are wrong
16. Class oppression, warfare, and dissension  
17. Prevent self defense by confiscating guns, all the while they're surrounded by security guards. 
18. Eliminate the police
19. Praise of totalitarian dictators in public education
20. Corrupt the entire system of education to promote leftist views 
21. Undermine the military
22. Eliminate cars and force everyone to live in clusters
23. Eliminate private property ownership 
24. Promote hate for entrepreneurs who create jobs and advance capitalism
25. Raise taxes, substantially
26. Promote larger government
27. Pass more restrictive regulations 
28. Promote more spending
29. Ignore government fraud, failure and corruption 
30. Demand the annihilation of Israel
31. Condemn Jews and justify the violence used against them
32. Demand the creation of a Palestinian state controlled by Muslims
33. Defund Ice
34. End capitalism
35. March, often violently, in support of corrupt groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter
36. Suppress conservatives, Christians, Republicans, and whites, violently if necessary
37. Demand the media suppress expression that fails to support these views and the Democrat party.  

Totalitarian control of every aspect of our lives destroying the foundational elements of human existence is what the left wants.    Let's try and get this right.  These conscienceless academic nihilists have never had real jobs and propound nonsense that's destructive to the foundational principles that make our culture work, and they've gotten away with it for decades.  With their almost total annexation of American education, from kindergarten to "higher" education, they've managed to corrupt our language, and our history.  

While pretending to be common folk "they're hypocritical elitists who are unashamedly socialist, communist, and violent", and this has become especially true of white women who've become "the vanguard of an ever-ready cadre of shock troops ready to march " with their Borg like mentality, "resistance is futile". 

Since Upper-Income Taxpayers Finance the American Welfare State, Leftists Should Be Nice to Rich People, Part III

I’ve written a couple of columns (in 2016 and earlier this year) about how upper-income taxpayers finance the vast majority of the welfare state.

 

The data I shared involved the federal budget in Washington.

And I explained that the Bernie-AOC crowd, instead of despising the rich, should be grateful for them (yes, I realize that is very unlikely, but I view myself as the Don Quixote of economic freedom).

The same lesson applies to state and local governments. Or perhaps I should say it especially applies to state and local governments since internal tax migration is much easier than international tax migration.

Interestingly, some folks in New York are capable of learning. Here are some excerpts from a column by Matthew Haag in the New York Times.

 

The rate at which New York State has been adding millionaires to its population in recent years has fallen below that of other large states, potentially costing the state billions in unrealized tax revenue, according to a new report from a nonpartisan fiscal watchdog group. At the same time, California, Florida and Texas had large increases in the number of people with annual incomes of at least $1 million residing in their states, all adding them at a faster rate than New York did from 2010 to 2022. The millionaire population in New York nearly doubled over that same time period, but it more than tripled in those other states. …“We have a debate about affordability, but we need to raise more revenue,” said Andrew Rein, the president of the Citizens Budget Commission, “and we can raise even more revenue if we have even more millionaires.” …the group’s arguments that New York City needs more millionaires and that any increase in personal income taxes could drive them away…is in opposition to the platform of Zohran Mamdani, a state assemblyman who is the Democratic nominee. Mr. Mamdani has proposed a new 2 percent tax on income greater than $1 million.

Here are the most important numbers in Haag’s column.

While just 1 percent of the city’s taxpayers are millionaires, their contributions make up 40 percent of all personal income tax collected. If New York’s rate of growth had kept pace with that of other states, the group said, the state and city would have together collected $13 billion in additional taxes in 2022.

The bottom line is that folks on the left in New York have to decide what matters most.

 

• Is their main goal to persecute rich people and drive them away? If that’s the case, they should continue what they’re doing and (for the ones in New York City) even take it to the next level by electing Zohran Mamdani, the Champagne Socialist with a lunatic agenda.
• Or, is their main goal to provide benefits and services to lower-income people? If that’s the case, they should realize that rich taxpayers are the geese with the golden eggs. As such, they should be very grateful for them and maybe, just maybe, they should hope for more of them.

Sadly, I fear that many folks on the left are motivated by envy and instinctively prefer the persecution option.

P.S. It was interesting to read in the NYT column that California still creates millionaires, but perhaps that is not surprising since the state hasn’t figured out how to tax unrealized capital gains. The problem for the not-so-Golden State is that many of those successful taxpayers then emigrate.

Why Liberals Love to be Hated

It may surprise some how eagerly the liberals who claim to believe in gay rights, make abortion their sacrament and worship at the altar of secularism make common cause with the Islamic enemies of all that they supposedly believe in. But it really shouldn’t because they don’t believe it.

From the Hitler-Stalin pact to the white liberal worship of the Black Panthers, it’s long since been clear that what they claim to want is very different from what they really, really want.

Liberals claimed to want civil rights, racial coexistence and integration, but even well before Martin Luther King’s body was cold in the ground, they were enraptured by Malcolm X, the Black Panthers and later outright terrorist groups like the Black Liberation Army and their illegitimate offspring like Black Lives Matter. Well before the official Red-Green alliance between Islam and the Left, white liberals had made common cause with a racist, misogynistic, supremacist and occasionally Islamic terrorist movement bent on destroying America.

Despite the acid-tongued observations of everyone from S. I. Hayakawa to Tom Wolfe that appeared to gain new life during the years of BLM posturing, this was not really about black people. And in the mind of the white liberals screaming that there’s genocide in Gaza and that Gitmo was a concentration camp, it’s not really about Islam either. If it had been, white liberals would not have also genuflected before the mostly fake Indians of the American Indian Movement, the racists of La Raza boasting about their master mixed race or any of the other lunatic fringe groups boosted by the Ford Foundation, the media and academia into real power.

It’s really simple if you understand that white liberals want to be hated. The DEI struggle sessions and race dinners of recent years at which members of an extremely well-heeled class paid good money for black DEI experts to tell them that they were worthless human garbage, forever doomed to be racist by their tainted DNA and skin color, ought to have settled the issue.

What’s complicated is that white liberals don’t suffer from a lack of self-esteem. They have far too much of it. And that’s the problem. Conformists love their class, egomaniacs hate it. The average white woke has come of age convinced of his, her or xer specialness which has been tragically stifled by the elite overproduction of its parents, peer group and society. Outside of school shootings, leftist politics is how the overproduced elites turn on each other.

Like Romans, they turn to an inferior Pretorian Guard to winnow their ranks, remove their rivals and destroy their entire class. They seek out not victims, but aggressors playing victims, who will denounce their entire class as an unjust institution while recognizing that out of the systemically racist entities of their country, society and family, they alone are the good ones.

The great dream of white liberal is to be accepted by a minority person. But not just any minority person. The only minority whose regard they truly cherish, rather than condescend to, is the minority who otherwise hates every other white person on earth, but appears to accept them. Only such a minority is not an ‘Uncle Tom’, subservient to the class, society and country they hate so much, but is admirable for being ready, willing and able to go to war against it.

Every white liberal wanted to party with Huey Newton. Then Obama. And now Mamdani. The radicals who hate America know this and actively count on it. Pretending to be friends with white liberal idiots and making themselves seem so cool that white liberals will pant to hang out with them is nine tenths of their public persona. Even though the persona is invariably fake.

Self-hating liberals need a movement that violently hates their class, but that also offers a personal opportunity for them to rise above their class. Rather than betraying their class, they believe that they are finally overcoming it in the fires of revolution. This combination of class hatred and self-love defines their politics and most of the events of the last 70 years.

But this is not a recent phenomenon. And it’s not about race. Before the politics of race, white liberals yearned to be working class. They tried (and failed miserably) to turn to farming. They wore blue collar clothes. They wrote about the lives of coal miners. They delivered speeches calling for the workers and peasants to unite. They abandoned the working class when they found groups who plausibly hated them even more and wanted to destroy them as a class.

Though they may call themselves progressives, their form of progress has been to revert from the modern to the medieval, from miners to minor suicide bombers and from railroad workers to Jihadis who blow up trains and barring the arrival of space aliens who want to destroy the planet, there is probably nowhere further down to go to find a more extreme form of hatred.

It was never about justice, but about justifications for utter destruction.

From Marx to Mohammed, the extreme ideologies they willingly act as useful idiots for call for their elimination in the name of some form of justice. This is not a coincidence. Any ideology that did not call for fundamental transformation, for a total revolution and a forcible redistribution of everything would never be able to win their allegiance. It isn’t suffering that they value or it would have been the African genocides that would have been their first priority, not Marxism.

Abroad, they cared about human rights in Vietnam until the Communists won, they cared about oppression in Cuba until the Communists won, they cared about tyranny in Egypt and Iran until the Islamists took over and they care about the suffering in Israel until they can destroy Israel. And the same goes for America, Europe and every country dysfunctional enough for its upper middle class to overproduce the same narcissistic spawn who read too many bad novels, sneer at their parents and vow to move to somewhere cool and campaign to abolish America.

The problem isn’t that they love to be hated, it’s that they think they deserve to be hated for their class and loved for themselves, when really they deserve to be hated as individuals. After destroying countries, societies and economies to feed their twisted egos, they can never get enough of being outraged at the things they hear about on NPR or read in the New York Times, not because they genuinely care, but because they think that virtue signaling somehow makes them superior to everyone else.

It doesn’t. It just makes them even more hated. Just not by those they want to be hated by.

The Miserable Left

1 in 3 Americans feel lonely every week and 1 in 5 feel lonely every day. Less than half of households are headed by married couples and the marriage rate hovers at 16.7. 63% of single people are not looking for a relationship and the majority of Gen Z didn’t date as teenagers.

Romance, relationships and sex that are disappearing, If you want to understand teenagers escaping into an upside down world of pronouns, identifying as the opposite sex, as asexual or anything except a normal healthy relationship, the collapse of those relationships is the place to start. “I choose me” is the narcissistic gateway to ‘self-marriages’ and online rabbit holes.

But it’s not just opposite sex relationships that are collapsing. Family is on the chopping block. 1 in 4 Americans are estranged from a close family member. Gen Z is the generation least likely, by far, to have a close relationship with their grandparents. Or to socialize in general. People of all ages interact with the world through social media. And social media is inherently lonely.

What replaces relationships for the social media savvy is an endless search for self-actualization. The constant virtue signaling, the reflexive shift in flags and banners, is a testament to a life lived online even when it’s acted out in public. Moral panics have become childishly easy to set up and detonate while knowing that today’s crisis will be forgotten tomorrow. Black Lives Matter and DEI give way to Gaza which gives way to illegal aliens which will give way to something else. Political activism is every bit as transitory as pop music. Greta Thunberg isn’t abandoning a cause when turning from environmentalism to Hamas.

Attention is the cause. The issue isn’t the issue, the issue is the revolution may be true on the macro, but in the micro, the issue isn’t the issue, the issue is attention. Lonely people need attention and the more attention they get, the less lonely they feel. Parroting back a slogan, learning a TikTok dance and joining a crusade is still lonely, but it feels more communal. And more importantly it fills the void that is currently occupied by the expectation of nothingness.

Fewer members of Gen Z look forward to marriage, children, a career or life getting better. What’s left is someone to blame. Movements, extremism, angry words and hate.

The Left innately understands this. It politicises and then tears apart human relationships, between men and women, between parents and children, and between larger families, to undermine rival social ties and to create the unhappiness that makes for terrorism. What began with shattering economic relationships, pitting businessmen and workers against each other, escalated to deconstructing and then pulling apart all human relationships as power structures.

What do you do when you have no one and no hope? You click, swipe and then march.

Screen time is everywhere. Its pale light shines from giant 75 inch flat screens dominating living rooms at night and from 5 to 7 inch handheld phones. Media and social media pervade everything but neither are really real. Gen Z excels at social media literacy much as earlier generations did at media literacy. But that literacy comes at the price of investing media and social media with personal identity and making media and social media a part of your life.

Social media for young girls is an experiment in adapting themselves to a society that really exists only online. Rather than adapting themselves to the traditions and truths of their family, they adapt to the much more vivid and rapid social media feed. And when it tells them to mutilate themselves and become transgender, that’s just one more transformation among many.

With nothing to look forward to, the bravado of self-destruction becomes their anthem.

The Left pretends to be progressive, but its substantive message is doom. The oceans are rising, inequality, racism and every social ill are somehow worse than ever. Nothing ever really gets better. Its recruitment strategy is to convince the next generation that everything is not only terrible, but the worst its ever been, and that there’s no hope for the future except them.

We are always the ones we are waiting for. Narcissism is the superpower. The world won’t ever really get any better. That’s the bygone message of the sixties. But what can get better is your self-esteem. Center your feelings. Focus on you. And see the world as a uniquely traumatic experience that you survive with TikTok dances and self-care self-involvement.

What sort of people does that message appeal to? Deeply unhappy people.

And that is what the Left is in the business of making. Every one of its revolutions has left people more isolated, divided, cut off, resentful and lonely than ever. They are taught to bond only over politics and through politics. To see themselves as members of tribes. To distrust anyone who doesn’t share their politics. And to identify entirely through politics.

The problem with that is politics, especially of their kind, is horribly miserable. Making it the center of your life is a formula for being miserable, angry, unhappy, resentful and fearful.

Those are the qualities you tend to see in the latest leftist rally against something.

BLM, No Kings, Save Gaza, Save Iran, Save the Whales, Stop the War, Stop ICE, Trans Lives Matter and Drag Queens Now. The emotions are the same no matter the cause. And the people who used to go to these things are becoming burned out from the unhappiness of rally culture.

The Left has made them miserable and it teaches them to turn that misery outward, but all that does is make them more miserable. The more the Left talks about “joy”, the more it reveals that as a commodity that it utterly lacks. The Left is many things, but happy is certainly not one of them. What the Left does is manufacture, commodify and weaponize misery for power.

The Left is designed to fail. Its policies are designed to fail. And its quest for joy through power is doomed to fail. All it can ever do is produce misery, failure and resentment over them.

The worse the failure, the more the resentment and the worse the unhappiness.

The Left is Bereft of Heft

Burt Prelutsky was a famous Hollywood writer, and in his day he was the writer that wrote one of the most popular M.A.S.H. shows ever. It was the one where a wounded pilot decided he was Jesus Christ. It was a very touching episode and has been recognized as one of the most famous. After he retired he was very active on line, even had his own newsletter, to which I subscribed. His thoughts were unendingly foundational to good thinking and common sense, especially when it came to dealing with leftists. He once said:

However, try as they might, neither side can fully explain the existence of left-wingers. For my part, I can far easier grasp the appeal of turnips and grits than I can the stranglehold that Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Chavez and Obama, have on leftists. I mean, how is it that anyone can look at the results of communism and socialism and not see them for the nightmares they are and always have been? After all, the evidence is in plain sight.

And given he was involved with the Hollywood crowd he saw first hand their insanity, and the insanity of California voters saying:

Frankly, I don't know what it is about California, but we seem to have a strange urge to elect really obnoxious women to high office. I'm not bragging, you understand, but no other state, including Maine, even comes close. When it comes to sending left-wing dingbats to Washington, we're Number One.

There's no getting around the fact that the last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi, they were stirring a cauldron when the curtain went up on 'Macbeth'.

The four of them are like jackasses who happen to possess the gift of blab. You don't know if you should condemn them for their stupidity or simply marvel at their ability to form words. 

Then there were his views on Barack Obama:

Some of us imagined that Barack Obama couldn’t possibly have a lousier, more corrupt, circle of friends and advisors in Washington than he had back in Chicago. But is it possible that we simply underestimated the man’s uncanny ability to attract vermin? 

Burt died in 2o21, but his work had a timelessness to it.  When it comes to leftists,  if you changed the names we'd find the only thing that changed was the names.  They've never seen a burden so great they couldn't put it on everyone else's back. 

The left does not tolerate straying from the prescribed ideological position of the party; they are Maoist, Stalinist in every way.  These people are not only intolerant, they are barbaric. They actually believe, and so operate according to their creed, that their political power depends on human misery. - Patricia McCarthy

Be Careful What You Wish For!

Going into the 2020 election the left, AKA, the Democrat party got what it wanted. Destroy the economy to get Trump.  Prior to this they came after the President with every lunatic claim they could muster to smear and destroy him, but his personal life was an open book, and a not such pretty one at that but everyone who voted for him knew it,  so that didn't work!  Then they tried impeachment, which some are still attempting to pull off, their impeachment claims fell like a ton of manure, and it fell right back on them, and as more information comes out, the manure is falling on a lot more people with the stench reaching very high levels of the Obama administration.

That left the economy.  Unfortunately for them, it was humming along so nicely they couldn't attack Trump on the economy without looking even more insane than before.   But then the nation faced one of the biggest political and scientific scams to hit the nation ever.  The coronavirus scam!  With this scientific fraud they managed to crush the economy and destroy a lot of lives, and waste trillions on their pet schemes, and create a system for voter fraud that would have never floated without the covid scam.  

But as the old saying goes - "be careful what you wish for!"  This all came back to haunt them, and Trump was elected again.

A Machiavellian principle.

Machiavelli's book "The Prince" made some amazingly simple, yet brilliant observations.  He showed the only thing the common people really want.  Security!  People want to be fed, housed, and furthermore, they want to feel secure in their ability to continue to be able to house and feed their families. Democrats have obviously worked hard to take that away from them, and the nation didn't feel secure at all, and that wasn't forgotten at election time.   How much more so will all this Democrat/leftist inspired, promoted, and funded violence impact both the 2026 midterm and the 2028 elections?

When the invertebrates in the Republican party ran McCain and Romney for the presidency, and conservatives stayed home in droves my conservative friends were aghast. I explained to them why.

It was clear these faux conservatives were taking the nation to exactly where the Democrat left was wanting to go, just a bit slower.  The difference between the Democrats and the Republicans was the Democrats wanted to take all your money, all your freedom, and control every aspect of you life, and do it right now.  The Republicans were willing to wait a week or two.  They were all undercover Rockefeller Republicans, just like Richard Nixon.

Conservatives had finally come to two conclusions.

1. They were no longer going to support the Republicans who were not truly conservative.
2. They felt the only way they could change the system was to allow the lunatic left to take over completely. That way the nation could see just how insane and corrupt they really are.

Now that’s happened, the Rockefeller Republicans, RINO's, Main Street Republicans, the Pravda media, and the those suffering from the Trump Derangement Syndrome are swirling the drain, and the alternative media along with MAGA base is in ascension.

There are some areas that will always have large segments of the population that will embrace leftist insanity, and there are states that are totally dominated by the left.  All these states are going to face the consequences of their own leftist dystopian policies.   They wasted trillions of dollars to offset this coronavirus fraud, and now they expect the federal government to bail them out of the unsustainable spending practices that have gone of for decades, like California's railway to nowhere where billions have been spent over these many years and not one mile of rail has been laid.  The federal government isn’t going to bail them out.  

Millions are migrating out of these states, along with many businesses, both small and large, in order to avoid total bankruptcy, all of which is destroying their tax base.  They had the right to do whatever they wanted regarding spending and taxation. The rest of the states have the right to expect them to face the consequences of their actions.

What's more, in five years the 2030 census will be conducted, they could potentially lose up to twenty five seats in the House of Representatives.  Which is why they're fighting so hard to prevent all these illegal migrants from being deported.  And that fight is being conducted through "spontaneous" acts of mass violence,  

It's Schadenfreude time, and in no way do I feel sorry for these people!

Year after year they looked down their noses at conservatives, constantly claiming conservatives were greedy, uncaring, selfish, racists and stupid. But they, the leftist, were pure of heart, righteous and brilliant. In short, they were far better morally and far smarter people with a clear understanding and vision as to how the world should function with all their virtue signaling.   Their problem isn't just their vision, it's the application of that vision, and while history has shown they're always sure, it's also shown they're rarely right. 

Now let them virtue signal themselves out of their mess.   Except for one thing. Those who've been in the forefront of all these leftist schemes are well off, and people with skills. They can afford to move to a state with conservative values and sound economic principles in place in order to avoid facing the consequences of their stupidity, leaving the least able to fend for themselves on their own.

Do I feel sorry for those left in these states who are unable to leave for various reasons? For the most part, No! When you talk to them about these issues they spout the same level of weirdness and low information ignorance as the rest, and they're just as arrogant in their ignorance as the rest.

Being ignorant is the norm, it just means we just don't know, and since there's just so much information about everything in the world, we're all in some state of ignorance. But that's fixable with learning. Stupid on the other hand is different. The stupid are the ignorant who refuse to learn.

Life is hard, but it’s really hard when your stupid, and stupid can’t be fixed. It can only be crushed.

It’s Not About Biden. It’s About the Left.

2024 might as well have been 2004 or 1984. In the two-decade cycle, Democrats wake up shocked to discover that their policies of treason, taxation and social collapse are unpopular and retreat to summits at expensive hotels with consultants to discover what went wrong.

The party’s public discourse blames everything on Biden. And Biden, whose picture will be featured in next year’s political encyclopedia under “Senile Old Coot”, is an easy target. But it’s not as if Biden was at the top of his game in 2020 or 2016 when Obama discouraged him from running in favor of the much more popular and crowd-pleasing charms of Hillary Clinton.

Biden isn’t the reason the Democrats lost. He’s the fall guy for it. Swapping in Kamala didn’t save the Democrats. And after the election, the party remains historically unpopular. Most of the country votes for candidates based on core issues, usually economic, not how well they speak.

Running two presidential candidates in one election, neither of whom you would trust to watch your dog overnight, let alone run your country, didn’t help, but the Democrats lost on policies. Most Americans did not believe that the economy would get any better under Democrats and they blamed them for high crime, mass migration and crazy social policies like transgenderism.

And the Dems know it. That’s why internally they’ve come up with three answers that they deliver at retreats for party operatives, prospective 2028 candidates and major donors.

The consultants urge adopting whatever policies are popular regardless of ideology. The activists urge doubling down on the crazy. Political gurus find the craziest thing this election cycle and urge the Democrats to make a show of backing away from that one thing.

But what no one in the party wants to discuss is where the “crazy stuff” came from at all.

Democrat insiders blame some of the crazier stuff, police defunding, drag queen story hour and marching with Hamas, on the vague and poorly defined “interest groups”. Why these “interest groups” have become so influential, they can’t explain because they can’t talk about the Left.

It’s easier to blame a few “interest groups” than to talk about the larger ideological war. A few interest groups couldn’t compel half the country to adopt the belief that women didn’t exist.

After the BLM riots, there was a limited reckoning among Democrats, not about the destruction and violence (which can never be discussed or acknowledged among the faithful), but about the impact of adopting the unpopular ‘Defund the Police’ program which they now mostly deny ever existed. Similarly there is now a very limited reckoning about the most unpopular element of transgenderism, men competing against women, with a few aspiring candidates like California’s Newsom and Arizona’s Gallego coming out against it in principle, but not in practical policy.

After 2024, a cottage industry of Democrat consultants telling politicians how not to talk about transgenderism boomed. Most tell candidates to describe it as a divisive non-issue, to (“as a father”) hypothetically disavow boys playing against girls and then focus on “potholes not potties”.) Whether these cynical performances work, it’s still a matter of putting lipstick on a pig, a donkey or a 300 lb man who wants to be called ‘Suzy’. Much as with BLM, the Democrats aren’t reckoning with what happened, but with how unpopular some of their policies are.

The intellectual underpinnings of the movements responsible remain unaddressed. Internally, consultants blame “interest groups” as if that could explain the sheer havoc and insanity that their party adopted, championed and is now running away from without actually talking about it.

When Democrats talk about “interest groups”, what they really mean is that the big money, from Soros to the Ford Foundation to numerous other billionaires not even on the radar, has financed large networks of organizations that push ideological and policy trends like BLM and Trans. They can’t actually mention the donor level because that’s where their own money comes from.

But blaming the donors would also fall far short of a meaningful critique of the party’s problem.

Major donors and foundations are not just financing interest groups or trends, but a larger ideological program. BLM and transgenderism are part of intellectual frameworks that conservatives and some liberals will name and shame, like ‘critical race theory’, but that Democrats refuse to analyze in terms of their impact on what their party has become.

The frameworks are those of the Left by whatever name it’s going by this week.

Past Democrats were willing to disavow and criticize the Left. Today’s Dems deny it even exists. Much as they deny that socialism is far more popular with their base than anything else. After being pulled so far leftward that their presidential nominee had to defend taxpayer-funded sex changes for illegal alien criminals, all they can do is blame a few “interest groups”.

What do the Democrats actually believe? Nothing. They have no defense against being pulled leftward because their entire belief system consists of fossilized cliches from the 60s about the virtues of civil rights, immigration and unions. (These also form the core of their voting blocs.)

Biden was the perfect candidate for a party that hasn’t updated anything in 60 years.

If the Democrats were to take a hard look at the Left, they would also have to decide what they believe. Instead, they employ consultants who tell them to either minimize the craziness of their policies without addressing the craziness of the underlying ideology or to adopt whatever good government policies the public likes at any given moment (DOGE reforms, cut spending) from Republicans and then work out afterward how they’ll reorient themselves ‘Bill Clinton’ style.

Ever since the Clintons, Democrats adopted the motto that beliefs and policies don’t matter, values do. When trying to reconcile extremist views, they keep talking about how those values are theirs because they are rooted in progress, love and equality even if in practice they involve burning down neighborhoods and denying that women exist. Obama beat the ‘values’ language to death and the Hillary and Biden campaign proved how little reach it has with American voters.

Values are very nice, but not when they lead to cities being overrun by illegal aliens and girls having to shower with ‘Suzy’ who can bench press the entire team with one of his hands.

A real party reckoning wouldn’t involve teasing out the various details about Biden’s infirmity, a reality that only CNN anchors and Democrat politicians could pretend to be ignorant of, and deal with the much larger issue of what they believe and what they don’t believe. The party is historically unpopular with leftists, who believe it’s not radical enough, and with everyone else, who believe it’s too radical, and the Dems have no answer except a deeper level of denial.

Democrats had to push the denial button pretty hard to pretend that Biden was at the top of his game when he couldn’t walk a straight line or finish a coherent sentence in less than 10 minutes, but they’re in even deeper denial when they pretend that their unpopularity is just a minor messaging problem and that they haven’t adopted objectively insane positions.

The Left took over the Democrats because it’s a core of fanatics that excels at taking over institutions, but those institutions have to be vacuously lacking in identity and awareness. It’s a whole lot easier to brainwash people who don’t believe in anything than those who do.

The Democrats fell into leftist radicalism because they stopped believing in anything. The old moderates died or, like Joe Biden, became living fossils who went along with whatever their younger aides told them. The party became as much of a puppet as Biden was in his last years.

And that’s the real reason why the image of an out-of-touch confused old man in the White House is so painful for Dems. It wasn’t just Biden that was a senile puppet, it’s his whole party.

What happens when you’re part of a party of puppets? You don’t ask questions.

You don’t notice when your president is out of his mind because you already learned not to notice when your party is out of its mind. What you do is chant “Black Lives Matter” and “No Human Being is Illegal” and “Men are Women” along with other simple-minded slogans so that you don’t think. And then you see that everything is in ruins and wonder what happened.

The Fake Left

First it was farmers. Then coal miners and factory workers. And then minorities, first in this country and then abroad, who were the latest candidates for the oppressed of the year.

But beyond searching for victims to represent, the Left was really searching for authenticity.

The Left, for all its protestations about the travails of the working class, is a movement of radical intellectuals, effete upper-class dilettantes and professional activists who are detached from the ‘plight’ of the ‘proletariat’ whose rights they claim to be campaigning for. Its academic theories, from Marxism on down, are not grounded in anything except abstract sophistry marshaled on behalf of the perpetually oppressed who are to benefit from the totalitarian rule of the Left.

The inauthenticity of the Left, its power and privilege, its detachment from what it considers to be ordinary life, leaves it forever searching for authentic victims, whose lives follow the patterns of socialist theories, rather than being the ones who stand apart and make those theories.

The mimicry of working-class attire by leftists had been mocked as far back as Orwell. Radicals who didn’t work loved adopting the costumes and accents of the working class as if they were ideological method actors who could discover the authenticity they lacked by playing a part. (It is no coincidence that acting is a profession rife with leftist politics and that so many of those who play the embodiment of the ordinary man or woman on screen proved to be nothing of the sort. To paraphrase Shakespeare, all the Left’s a stage and its activists mere players.)

Leftists search for the missing authenticity by trying to embed themselves into the lives of the authentic ‘working class’. In the 19th century, they rallied for farmers and tried to become them. Wealthy urbane intellectuals engaged in doomed efforts to run farms, growing apples and raising hens in New England with invariably disastrous results that left them bankrupt and in debt, without having learned a single thing from the experience.

Except to denounce ‘mercantilism’ and later capitalism for their failures.

19th century leftist intellectuals, individually or as part of the growing trend of Fourierist communes, lacked the discipline for the backbreaking work and painstaking planning involved in farming. Rather than leading them to question whether they could run entire societies when they could not even manage a farm, they decided that the problem was with farming, not with them.

And that is what the Left always does. Rather than acknowledge that their failures stem from hubris and a lack of discipline, they instead blame them on the general state of society.

By the 20th century, they had turned away from farmers, who had proven that they were not fertile ground for their ideology, to factory workers and miners who were more willing to form unions. The new working-class ideal was no longer Fourier’s massive agriculture communes, but massive industrialization that appeared to be made for socialist central planning. Unlike agriculture which was subject to the vicissitudes of the weather, every element of the industrial process from mining to the finished product appeared controllable and subject to their theories.

The Soviet Union purged farmers and built-up industrialization, as Communist China would do in more recent times, leading to massive famines in both dictatorships. Russia and China reviled farmers as reactionaries and their mismanagement of agriculture collectively killed millions. The USSR became dependent on American agricultural imports and China may dump its junk on Americans on an incredible scale, but still imports agricultural products from America.

In America, the factory workers and miners eventually proved disappointingly conservative. Both the international Marxist movements and American leftists moved on to minorities who were seen as truly authentic revolutionary bases who would not be seduced by capitalism. Third world terrorism, especially in Latin America and the Muslim world, became the new ideal.

Western leftists began admiring and trying to imitate Che and Arafat. Then Hugo Chavez and Hamas. They gave up on the white working class entirely, then on men and everyone else. The vast majority of Americans, like the farmers, the workers and the miners, were no longer seen as ‘authentic’ and lost their ideological central place in the grand schemes of socialism.

The Left’s pursuit of authenticity was a response to its own unreality. The more unreal it became, the more it became obsessed with finding the authenticity in others that it lacked. As a movement trying to escape from itself, it could never achieve its real goal of embodying its shifting fashionable notions of the ‘salt of the earth’ who had the gift of making things work.

The ‘authenticity vampires’ who live on laptops but sound like they are struggling in salt mines always talk about ‘fighting for the people’, not because they love the people, but because they want to become them. They attach themselves to what they deem to be the working class to drain them of that authenticity, and then, like vampires, kill them off and replace them.

The crisis of the radical intellectuals is that they reject what they are, they reject the world as it is and they build their lives around fantasies that have no connection to their real selves or to reality. If they had the love for labor that they claim to, they would recognize their own decadence, but instead they aspire to be a supreme ruling class, the ‘first citizens’ of a class they do not even belong to.

A true society of workers would have no place for the sorts of people who theorize about it. A society of workers would understand why the various theories of those who pretend to speak for the working class are actually unworkable. The Left is not a society of workers, but of theorizers, whose theories never work, but who collude to perpetrate a massive fantasy on the public.

The world’s greatest con job.

Leftists began by fooling themselves and then fooling everyone else. Like all liars, they are desperately hungry for some truths to hang over their vast infrastructure of deceits. That is the authenticity they seek. Some truth to make the lies that they tell to themselves and to us seem plausible. Leftists put on working-class outfits, shabby, ripped and worn clothes, use lower class accents, embrace their music and what they think is their culture to find the truth.

But eventually this fake authenticity wears thin and they have to exchange it for another one. And they tell themselves that time this it will work and radical Pinocchio will become a real boy.

The Trojan Horses

I originally posted this in 2009 in order to make sure there was no mistake about who these Trojan horses are. I linked and quoted information directly from the Activist Cash web site, which as far as I can tell no longer exists, as a result, none of the links work, and truth be told, I'm not sure if all of these organizations still exist, but the information presented here is what I posted from the site at that time.   

 

I've linked what files I have on some of these groups from P&D.  Some of the articles will be repetitious as they cover many of these groups at the same time, so bear with it.

I am a firm believer in the old axiom that birds of a feather flock together.  I originally published this list in 2009, and a lot has happened since then as a wake up call to the nation over where the funding is coming from for all these activists group, and their "mostly peaceful" riots.  The big difference is until DOGE exposed what's going on we couldn't prove so much of it was coming from government agencies like USAID, deliberately working to destroy the nation.  Now we know.  

 

Natural Resources Defense Council - The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the utility infielder of nanny groups. Because its name implies a wide-ranging universe of issues, the group can be counted on to inject itself into just about any debate where there’s an environmental argument to be made. Washington PR firm Fenton Communications has made use of the NRDC in a variety of public campaigns, the most famous example of which was the 1989 “Alar-on-apples” food scare.

Following the release of a report called “Intolerable Risk” — which claimed that Alar was “the most potent cancer-causing agent in our food supply” and blamed the chemical for “as many as 5,300” childhood cancer cases — Fenton and NRDC went on a five-month media blitz. The campaign kicked off with a CBS 60 Minutes feature seen by over 50 million Americans. Despite the fact that the claims were completely unfounded, hysteria set in. Apples were pulled off of grocery shelves, schools stopped serving them at lunch, and apple growers nationwide lost over $250 million.

Currently, NRDC is focusing a great deal of its vast resources fighting against genetically improved foods.

The Wall Street Journal printed one of David Fenton’s internal memos, after the Alar-on-apples scandal was publicly debunked. Here’s Fenton in his own words: “We designed [the Alar Campaign] so that revenue would flow back to the Natural Resources Defense Council from the public, and we sold this book about pesticides through a 900 number and the Donahue show. And to date there has been $700,000 in net revenue from it.”

NRDC joined forces again with Fenton Communications in 1998 to promote a food-scare campaign called “Give Swordfish a Break!” which was operated by SeaWeb, an organization created by Fenton specifically for this campaign. Nearly all of the funding for this effort came from pass-through grants solicited by NRDC on behalf of SeaWeb. Two years later the anti-swordfish campaign folded, with both groups claiming victory. The whole promotion was based on the myth that Atlantic swordfish were being over-fished to the point of extinction. But according to the National Marine Fisheries Service, that simply wasn’t true.

American Corn Growers Association - At a March 21, 2000, press conference, the organic marketer-funded Center for Food Safety unveiled a petition demanding that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration begin requiring warning labels on all genetically improved foods. Among the co-signers of this document were the American Corn Growers Association and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

With its all-American name, the American Corn Growers Association (ACGA) brings to mind visions of Heartland cornfields and a simple farm life straight out of Grant Wood’s “American Gothic.” But in reality, ACGA represents a farming style more Cuban than American.

Center for Science in the Public Interest - “The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is the undisputed leader among America’s “food police.” CSPI was founded in 1971 by current executive director Michael Jacobson, and two of his co-workers at Ralph Nader’s Center for the Study of Responsive Law. Since then, CSPI’s joyless eating club has issued hundreds of high-profile—and highly questionable—reports condemning soft drinks, fat substitutes, irradiated meat, biotech food crops, French fries, and just about anything that tastes good.”

Earth First!  - In 1997-98, the Trees Foundation, which serves as the fiscal agent for various Earth First! groups, reported to the IRS that it received funding from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). Trees noted that the NRDC money was “specifically designated for” three California groups “for their work in the Headwaters Forest protection effort.” One of these groups was the Ecology Center, where Karen Pickett runs the Headwaters campaign. Pickett is also the keeper of the cash for the Earth First! Direct Action Fund.

Another group that NRDC “specifically designated” should get pass-through money from the Trees Foundation was Redwood Justice. Redwood Justice’s main program is paying the legal bills for Earth First! leader Darryl Cherney’s lawsuit against the FBI.
A spin off this group is the super radical Earth Liberation Front (ELF). “Three workers sleeping at a construction site were able to escape after the terrorist Earth Liberation Front (ELF) set fire to an unfinished, 200-unit condominium development late one night in August, 2003. "It could have killed someone," said San Diego fire captain Jeff Carle.”

 

Environmental Media Services - SeaWeb’s wholly unnecessary “Give Swordfish a Break!” campaign, conceived and directed by Fenton Communications, was originally designed as a cooperative campaign with the Natural Resources Defense Council (SeaWeb and NRDC are still Fenton clients). In its typical role as media “front” group, Environmental Media Services heavily promoted the swordfish boycott on behalf of both NRDC and SeaWeb for two years, ending with a hollow declaration of victory in August 2000.

Environmental Working Group - The Natural Resources Defense Council and Environmental Working Group are both clients of leftist PR firm Fenton Communications, based in Washington, DC. David Fenton, who runs this firm, also sits on EWG’s board.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency includes a remarkable number of anti-consumer activists on various advisory committees. When invitations to join the current EPA Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee were issued in August 2001, the Environmental Working Group’s Sean Gray made the list, as did Erik Olson of NRDC, John Vickery of the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, and Troy Seidle of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

NRDC and EWG have been tag-teaming both EPA panels and the public for several years. In one celebrated episode, both groups’ representatives pulled out of Vice President Gore’s “Tolerance Reassessment Advisory Committee” in 1999, claiming that even Al “Earth in the Balance” Gore wasn’t banning pesticides fast enough for their liking. The two organizations co-released a (later debunked) report in 1996 claiming that 45 million Americans were drinking “contaminated” water. Not surprisingly, EWG pointed the finger of blame at “pesticide runoff.”

Greenpeace - The Natural Resources Defense Council and Greenpeace USA are both clients of leftist Washington PR boutique Fenton Communications. David Fenton’s flacks have perfected the art of the food scare, including NRDC’s Alar-on-apples fundraising scam in 1989, SeaWeb’s ridiculous 1988 swordfish boycott, and the more recent StarLink corn fiasco.

Greenpeace is the largest environmental organization in the world, with an international membership of over 5 million and offices in over 20 countries. Forbes magazine once described it as “a skillfully managed business” with full command of “the tools of direct mail and image manipulation -- and tactics that would bring instant condemnation if practiced by a for-profit corporation.” But Greenpeace has escaped public censure by hiding behind the mask of its “non-profit” status and its U.S. tax exemption.

Humane Society of the United States - When the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) sued the United States Navy because it believed “human-generated noise -- including active sonars – ha[d] a negative effect on marine mammals,” the Humane Society of the United States was happy to sign on. The two groups have also sued Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) Airport, O’Hare Airport, and others. The Keep Antibiotics Working (KAW) coalition counts both HSUS and NRDC as members. KAW aims to scare the public about the supposed “overuse” of antibiotics on farm animals. They were also both members of the Center for Science in the Public Interest’s Foodspeak coalition. Members hoped to avoid lawsuits for false claims against food companies by overturning food disparagement laws.

Despite the words “humane society” on its letterhead, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is not affiliated with your local animal shelter. Despite the omnipresent dogs and cats in its fundraising materials, it’s not an organization that runs spay/neuter programs or takes in stray, neglected, and abused pets. And despite the common image of animal protection agencies as cash-strapped organizations dedicated to animal welfare, HSUS has become the wealthiest animal rights organization on earth.

Ruckus Society - While the Ruckus Society’s Tzeporah Berman (who coordinates rainforest programs for ForestEthics in Vancouver) oversaw a Canadian anti-logging campaign on the ground, NRDC put economic pressure on companies like Home Depot, Lowe’s, Kinko’s, Nike, 3M, and Starbucks, each of which pledged to avoid buying products derived from British Columbia rainforest timber.

The Ruckus Society was founded in late 1995 by two giants of the radical environmentalist movement: Mike Roselle and Howard “Twilly” Cannon. Roselle was a founder of Earth First! (of 1980s tree-spiking fame), the group which spun off the domestic terrorist Earth Liberation Front in 1992. He also co-founded the radical Rainforest Action Network. Cannon built his extremist credentials as a front-line activist and ship’s captain with Greenpeace’s French and Russian anti-nuclear campaigns.

SeaWeb - SeaWeb began as a “project” of the NRDC, with a start-up grant from the Pew Charitable Trusts. Now that SeaWeb has been spun off and enjoys relative independence, its leaders still collaborate with NRDC program directors on a variety of promotions, including the wholly unnecessary (and thoroughly debunked) “Give Swordfish a Break!” campaign. NRDC’s opinions on which species of menu fish are politically correct enough to eat can be found on SeaWeb’s “Seafood Choices Alliance” web site. Greenpeace USA and SeaWeb are both clients of leftist Washington PR boutique Fenton Communications, the widely-acknowledged kings of the modern food scare.

What can you say about a group of alarmist publicity-seekers whose greatest passion is “saving” fish species that aren’t even endangered? Are they crazy? Power-hungry? Misguided, as the U.S. government has said? Sadly, SeaWeb is just one in a long line of recent entrants into the food-scare industry. And judging from the the company it keeps, SeaWeb is a prime example of the well-networked Nanny Culture. Its pockets are deep, its friends are powerful, its tactics are disingenuous, and it’s not going away any time soon.

Sierra Club -The Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) have allied on numerous occasions to combat modern livestock farms, most notably joining with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Waterkeeper Alliance in 2003 to sue the Environmental Protection Agency for increased restrictions on pork farmers. The Sierra Club also promoted NRDC's notorious Alar on apples" food scare. The two groups have collaborated multiple times to lobby the U.S. government against biotech foods, and are members of the Keep Antibiotics Working campaign, a slick PR project that frightens Americans away from the conventional meat supply with reckless claims about the use of antibiotics in livestock.

Founded in 1892 by John Muir to "make the mountains glad," the Sierra Club is the oldest and arguably the most powerful environmental group in the nation. But its concerns are no longer limited to the happiness of the valleys. Once dedicated to conserving wilderness for future human enjoyment, the Sierra Club has become an anti-growth, anti-technology group that puts its utopian environmentalist vision before the well being of humans.

Tides Foundation - NRDC predates the Tides Center by several years, so it was never formally a Tides “project.” But it did enjoy similar “startup” assistance from the Tides Foundation during its early years. To date, Tides has used its “pass-through” granting structure to funnel over a quarter of a million dollars to NRDC, without ever acknowledging where the funds originally came from. In one example, the Tides Foundation was the funding vehicle through which NRDC received funds in 1989 to hire Fenton Communications, its PR firm of choice, to promote its much-hyped and thoroughly debunked Alar-on-apples food scare.

The Western Organization of Resource Councils (WORC) calls one of its flagship programs the “Safe Food Fight.” And with WORC, the emphasis is always on fighting. After all, over 80% of WORC’s funding comes from big-money foundations, and they’re not paying WORC to be calm and rational.

Union of Concerned Scientists - The Union of Concerned Scientists often brags about its cooperation with other environmental groups. Among the organizations with which UCS works closely, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) stands at the top of the list. UCS and NRDC regularly co-host press conferences, co-sign petitions, and co-author reports. Both groups are members of the Keep Antibiotics Working coalition and the Save our Environment Coalition.

Committed to an “open-minded search for truth,” and armed with “unrivaled scientific expertise,” the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) “doesn’t say anything [it] can’t back up with solid evidence.” At least, that’s what its fund-raising letters say. The reality is quite different.

 

 

Western Organization of Resource Councils - Natural Resources Defense Council has collaborated with the Western Organization of Resource Councils in the past, most notably on matters of mining policy. During the years of the Clinton administration, NRDC and WORC co-signed at least three letters to Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, urging that stricter standards be used for determining mining rights for coal in Western states. In one case, the two groups joined with Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace to sue the Bureau of Land Management over the terms of its coal mining-rights leasing program.

These groups have promoted every misanthropic philosophical flavor of the day that has come down the pike for the last sixty years and if we are to believe all that is said, and I for one do, they have done it with lies, deception and junk science.   The Democrats and RINO'S, along with Canada and the EU, are now in bed with every radical group in the world and they will have a say in everything we do!
