Everyone Is to Blame Except Blacks

March 29, 2024  Gregory Hood, @ American Renaissance

Editor's Note:  I've not asked for nor have I received permission to publish this article.  However, I feel this article needs the broadest distribution possible.  If the author or American Renaissance object, I will break this down to a link. RK

One wonders what South Korean car executives thought when they first heard about the charges against them. A lawsuit is for victims who have been harmed to recover damages. However, much as the Civil Rights Act has largely replaced the Constitution, Anglo-Saxon norms are being replaced by the idea that blacks are not responsible for their actions. Thus, when blacks began stealing Korean cars and bragging about it on TikTok, many people blamed the manufacturers, Kia America and Hyundai Motors.

In March 2023, the attorneys general of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin sent the two companies (they have the same parent) a letter telling them to offer free software upgrades or other ways to stop theft.

Part of it read:

The surge in thefts of these vulnerable vehicles has been truly shocking. In 2020 there were 895 thefts of Hyundai and Kia vehicles in Milwaukee. In 2021, there were 6,970. . . .  Thefts of Hyundais and Kias in Minneapolis increased by 836% in 2022 over the previous year. Year over year from 2021 to 2022, St. Louis County, Missouri, saw a 1,090% increase in thefts of Kias and Hyundais. . . . From 2019 to 2022, Philadelphia witnessed a nearly 800% and 400% increase in thefts of Kias and Hyundais, respectively.

. . . .  In the first three weeks of January 2023, Kias and Hyundais made up 44% of all car thefts in Washington, D.C. (176 thefts out of a total of 393), which was a sharp rise compared to July 2022, when Kias and Hyundais only accounted for 9% of thefts (31 out of a total of 332). In Buffalo, New York, the numbers of stolen Kia and Hyundai vehicles have skyrocketed, from 400 during all of 2022 to 350 in just the first two months of 2023.

The letter implied the thieves were the victims:

In one example, a teen was killed after stealing a Kia Sportage and fleeing police before colliding with another vehicle. In another, four teens were killed after the stolen Kia they were riding in crashed into an embankment at high speed. . . . In Portland, Oregon, a 16-year-old has been involved in at least 3 Kia thefts, two of which ended in dangerous accidents.

Videos on social media show that almost all the thieves are black, with a few other non-whites. White YouTubers have made documentaries about the “Kia boys.” One, in which the narrator interviews foul-mouthed blacks bragging about their adventures, has more than 7.7 million views. The documentary led to an arrest, but the thief was arrested for stealing a car not long after he was released. The “Kia Boys” should not be confused with the “Game Over” kids, another group of young blacks stealing cars. There are even Kia Boys rap videos.

Kia and Hyundai said they would pay victims of theft over $200 million to settle a class-action lawsuit, but a federal judge rejected the settlement. Seattle, Baltimore, Cleveland, New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Columbus are also suing. The Louisville Courier Journal published a story implying Louisville was doing something wrong by not suing. Two days later, the city sued. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, a former black nationalist, told Al Sharpton on MSNBC that car companies are responsible for making sure that cars “are not so easy to steal that they are a tempting, attractive nuisance for young people.”

There are other suits against manufacturers. Chicago is suing Glock because it claims you can use a “Glock switch” to turn semi-automatics into machine pistols. Black mayor Brandon Johnson is not tough on crime, notably warning people not to “demonize” blacks after mob violence, and suggesting that reparations will lower crime. However, he is taking advantage of the Firearms Industry Responsibility Act that Illinois passed last year, which allows such suits. Twelve states and Washington DC have also sent a letter to Glock warning it to preserve evidence, suggesting they will soon be suing.

Suits like this are not just a shakedown. They can shut down business that enjoy theoretical constitutional protection. The precedent was set when Remington, America’s oldest gun manufacturer, settled a suit filed by families of victims of the Sandy Hook school. They claimed the company marketed its AR-15-style rifle irresponsibly to susceptible young men. The company paid out $73 million and declared bankruptcy. Glock could share Remington’s fate, and responsible gun owners would be punished.

Just about everyone knows smoking is dangerous, but menthol cigarettes are especially dangerous because blacks like them.

In April 2022, the FDA proposed a ban:

In 2019, there were more than 18.5 million current menthol cigarette smokers ages 12 and older in the U.S., with particularly high rates of use by youth, young adults, and African American and other racial and ethnic groups. Published modeling studies . . . estimate that 324,000 to 654,000 smoking attributable deaths overall (92,000 to 238,000 among African Americans) would be avoided [by a ban] over the course of 40 years.

Banning Menthol Cigarettes: A Social Justice Issue Long Overdue” argued against menthol cigarettes not just for blacks but for “lesbian, gay, and bisexual smokers, smokers with mental health problems, socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, and pregnant women.” The NAACP supports a ban, claiming menthol cigarettes victimize blacks. The Biden administration backed away from an initial decision to ban menthols, delaying it until this year.

Paulette Gipson, NAACP Compton, Co-Chair of Black Leaders Against Tobacco Injustice and Betty Williams, President, NAACP Sacramento, right, looks inside menthol cigarette-filled casket, surrounded by white flags symbolizing black deaths from tobacco as they bring awareness to Prop 31 at Fremont Park in Sacramento, July 28, 2022. (Credit Image: © Paul Kitagaki Jr./ZUMA Press Wire)

The reason? The Hill wrote that “a vast majority of Black smokers use menthols, and in an election year, when every vote matters, President Biden can ill-afford to alienate any potential constituency.” An estimated 85 percent of blacks smoke menthols.

The next wave of lawsuits may be against food companies. “People of color have the highest obesity rates in the US,” Vox noted in 2018, and “food marketing is part of the problem.” Since then, there have been many similar complaints:

Someone will argue that minorities were tricked into eating unhealthy food, just as the Sandy Hook shooter was tricked into buying a rifle.

The law has always been a powerful weapon, but liability is expanding. If car and gun makers are to blame for criminals’ actions, and tobacco and junk food companies make blacks sick, practically anything could be grounds for a suit. Already, there are studies alleging that “structural racism” makes blacks sick. In some countries, pro-white speech is banned because it poses a “danger;” likewise in America, judges could well rule words “harm” people.

The “Kia Boys” precedent could mean that everything has to be designed to prevent blacks stealing it or using it to commit crimes, but the blacks won’t be held responsible. This would mean higher costs, less freedom, and ruinous lawsuits. The diversity tax keeps going up. If blacks are exempt from personal responsibility, the rest of us pay up and also take the blame for their poor decisions.

Making a silk purse from the crime-ridden rubble of 'anti-racism'

Much has been said by many trying to excuse bad behavior. Inner cities have crime because… racism. Blue cities are dirty and noisy because… racism. White flight happens because… racism. Black unwed motherhood is on the rise and has become epidemic because… racism. No other reasons are given by black leadership for the failures of blacks to thrive except for… racism.

But racism does not account for these failures. Failure accounts for these failures: Failure to educate. Failure to instill a work ethic. Failure to be good and to do good. Failure to teach respect and good manners to young children. Failure to revere and promote healthy two-parent families. Failure to discourage sexual profligacy. Failure to demand excellence. Failure to reject profanity and embrace decency and honor. Instead, too many in the Black community have embraced the dysfunction within the Black culture with pride, claiming a unique historical experience that they say no one understands but other Black people.

It has been long enough making excuses for Black failures and it is past time for the respectable Black people of America to rise up against the jealous race-baiters and say “No more.” There is nothing preventing Black success that a Judeo-Christian perspective cannot address successfully..)........No one is helped by trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear: The sow’s ear cannot up and leave the sow. And silk is never made from putrefying pig flesh.........And for God’s sake, stop blaming others for the failures of your own house........To Read More....

Black Comedians Told Uncomfortable Truths That Came to Naught

June 14, 2023 By Doug MacGregor

In 1996 comedian Chris Rock performed an HBO special called, “Bring the Pain” (full video here). His most memorable routine began with: “Who’s more racist? Black people or white people? Black people. Because everything white people hate about black people, black people REALLY don’t like about black people.” Rock used the hard, “R”, calling it a Civil War between black people and n****** , declaring that, “n****** got to go!” The audience in Washington DC was mostly if not entirely black, and the laughter was loud. It was real. And it signaled agreement.

Highlights: “I love black people but I hate n******!” He ripped into them for their low expectations, shunning education, “loving to not know” and wanting, "credit for things they’re supposed to do like taking care of their kids…and never going to jail.”

Criticizing the injustice of welfare: the black father with 2 jobs and the “n***** who can’t find one?” The black mother working hard for 2 kids vs the welfare mother of 9…” Playing devil’s advocate he mimics, “Why do you have to say that? It’s the media…” But Rock immediately shuts that lame argument down. “When I go to the cash station at night, I ain’t looking over my shoulder for the media. I’m looking for n******! Ted Koppel ain’t never took sh*t from me. But n****** have: Rock was “tired, tired, tired of this…” The audience agreed..............And Obama? He chooses not to live anywhere near blacks whose “lives (don’t) matter.”  It’s 2023 and black America’s dominant elites, especially in the media, have chosen to do nothing.

Enough?  ...............To Read More....

Ego and Greed

Larry Elder Larry Elder Mar 16, 2023

I took a flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis and was picked up at the airport by a black driver. His name is Davis. He looked mid-20s, but it turned out he was 39. He was charming, soft-spoken, friendly and became talkative once he realized I wanted to talk......He is not married, has no children and is close to his mom and his two sisters.............."Well, I caught a case back in 2010." He said. "'Caught a case'? You mean time in prison?"........I expected him to say a few months, but he told me he served nearly three years.........We talked about his crime. He said his mom rarely worked, that his family was desperately poor, and they moved frequently and suddenly to avoid paying rent. "I went to three or four high schools. As soon as I sort of got settled, we'd move again." At the last place, his mom had a tiny bedroom. The sisters slept in another small bedroom, and he slept on the couch...............

He got a BB gun and used it the rob a movie theater for about $2,200. "Got caught. Found out you do the same amount of time for a BB gun as you do with a real gun." "What possessed you to do that? "Greed and ego. Got caught up in greed and ego. And in a way, it was a good thing; I needed to get myself together and start taking responsibility."..........."I mean, you lacked a father figure." "No," he said. "That's just an excuse. I made dumb decisions. I had choices. I just made bad ones.".......He now works as a youth counselor and motivational speaker. He encourages fatherless children to forgive their fathers, to nevertheless make good decisions and to refuse to think like a victim...........To Read More...

White Man Down: Frustration is Not Racism, - About Scott Adams, the white male creator of the (once) popular "Dilbert" comic strip, The Washington Post wrote: "On his Feb. 22 episode of 'Real Coffee With Scott Adams,' the creator of the comic strip 'Dilbert' decided to riff on a much-criticized Rasmussen poll and promote a type of segregation. He declared that Black Americans are part of a 'hate group' and urged White people to 'get the hell away from Black people.'"................... At a time when anti-black racism has never been less of a factor, most blacks demand reparations, properly described as payments from those who were never slaveowners to be given to those who were never slaves. Schools promote concepts like critical race theory that characterize whites as oppressors and blacks as victims. Some blacks complain about "microaggressions." If in response to "Black Lives Matter," a white person says, "All Lives Matter," all hell breaks loose...................Is it really surprising that some whites, like Adams, are now saying, "Check, please!"? He just said it out loud. Frustration is not racism.

Racializing the Death of a Black Man by the Police, Part I - It became national, indeed, international news that five Memphis police officers grabbed, punched, beat, pepper-sprayed and stun-gunned a black suspect, named Tyre Nichols, who later died at the hospital. A picture of him in his hospital bed showing his swollen, battered and bloodied face went viral on social media. The city police chief, a black female, said she was disgusted: "In my 36 years ... I would have to say I don't think I've ever been more horrified and disgusted, sad ... and, to some degree, confused." The cops were fired; all face second-degree murder charges. The body cam video, as well as video from an outdoor camera, was released. No video exists of what first caused the police to begin Nichol's traffic stop............

Racializing the Death of a Black Man by the Police, Part 2 - Last week we discussed how many on the Left considered the death of a black suspect, Tyre Nichols, following a beating by five Memphis black cops, an example of police anti-black "systemic racism." Columbia Law Professor Kimberle Crenshaw, a proponent of critical race theory, offered this hysterical perspective: "Anyone who knows the history of enslavement, anyone who knows the history of policing knows that black people can do anti-black things. But what we were also trying to bring into the conversation is the structural dimension of anti-black racism, the fact that the incentive structures that are set up in policing are targeting particular communities, black communities." "Targeting ... black communities"?........

Reparations: Blackwashing Slavery- When it comes to the absurdity of American taxpayers giving "reparations" to black descendants of slaves, it's hard to limit the number of objections. Apart from the fact that American slavery, though horrific, was legal; that it ended 157 years ago; that the government did not own slaves, the private sector did; that most Southerners did not own slaves; that nearly all slave owners were Democrats -- so why should non-Democrats pay?; that hundreds of thousands of white Northerners lost their lives and suffered serious injuries fighting in the Civil War that ended slavery; and that today, as conservative writer Michael Medved puts it, only about 5% of whites bear "a generational guilt" to slavery -- there's the role Africa itself played.

Take the 2022 movie "The Woman King," starring Viola Davis, about African female warriors. It portrays white slavers as villains and the female warriors as antislavery avengers, and the film claims it is "Inspired by true events.".............Inspired by true events? Really?  There was a band of warrior women in Africa called Dahomey. True, they were fierce, feared, and bloodthirsty fighters. But they used that ferocity to kill and conquer other Africans for sale to slave traders. The trans-Atlantic African and the Arab African slave trade could not have occurred without the complicity of African chiefs, who sold conquered Africans to European and Arab slavers............

Revolting: White children beaten to their knees on the playground to emphasize Black importance

Sometime in mid-January, under the direction of Ron DeSantis, Florida’s state department of education dispatched a letter to the College Board, informing the organization that a certain course was prohibited from being taught in the state’s schools: AP African American studies.  The course covers topics like “Black queer studies” and “racial capitalism” — obvious leftism — but despite that, DeSantis’s move caused outrage among leftwing Black supremacists and academics. Today, The Guardian published an exclusive interview-type story with Kimberlé Crenshaw, a professor and “leading voice” on critical race theory. Crenshaw declared the move to prohibit revisionist history as “just the tip of the iceberg” of a renewed campaign to subjugate Black Americans, warning the readers of “make America great again” extremists. From the article:

[Crenshaw] warned that the rightwing battle against racial justice education not only threatens US democracy, but encourages a revival of segregationist values and policies.

Someone get this lady a real history book! A “revival of segregationist values”? Remind me again which president re-segregated federal agencies? Oh, that’s right — Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat. What party was responsible for Jim Crow laws? Democrats. Who said he didn’t want his children growing up in a “racial jungle”? None other than Joe Biden. I could go on and on….She’s steeped in misinformation, and it really is dangerous…. Yesterday, the Daily Mail reported the following:”.............. To Read More

How a Liberal White Teacher Became a Race Realist - "I came from a “do-gooder” family and was fed the story of black victimization for years. I truly believed it with all my heart and decided to become an inner-city teacher. I was determined to help right the wrongs done to these poor kids by “institutional racism” and do my part to educate them and help them escape from the yoke of oppression. Boy, oh boy, was I in for a rude awakening! From day one, my work life was a living hell. The young teens destroyed property, brutalized one another, and intimidated the staff. I caught teenagers smoking crack, 13-year-olds having sex in the bathroom, and kids bringing guns to school. Anyone who tried to learn and behave was beaten for “trying to act white,” and several girls who were known to be virgins were sexually harassed by boys and bullied by other girls until they would have sex. Neither the teens nor their parents placed any value on education, bettering themselves, or moving ahead in life. They were convinced that the white man was “keeping them down,” and that it was no use bothering, anyways. I eventually stopped insisting on parent-teacher conferences for the black students because not a single parent would show up. Ever.............

The Constant Victim

While insisting on total respect, she clearly has little concern or respect for others, "the others being white".  When she ignores the values of others while intruding on their space, she claims any rebukes are the result of racism, because:

"White culture’ with its expectations of considering others, is racist!"

The author went on to say:

Gonzalez perfectly embodies the entitled, arrogantly uninformed leftist with whom we’re all so painfully well-acquainted. They’re constantly the victim, and identity politics and skin color is the lens through which they see the world. And on top of all that, they unanimously process using cognitive dissonance – because, the funny thing is, Gonzalez has alabaster skin.

If this is an example of the "educated leadership" of black America, and it is, then there will be no fix for "the constant victim" because being the victim is much easier than actually performing, and most importantly, marrying the women they impregnate.  Without a strong social foundation of Judaic/Christian ethics and commitment to family, black America cannot fix itself, and no one else can either.

It's Not My Fault and I'm Not Taking the Blame. Get Over It!

By Rich Kozlovich

As I'm going back and tagging my old posts I keep coming across some great older pieces.  On December 29, 2015 Douglas Ernst posted this piece, Prof to all white Americans: Admit your 'racist poison', saying:

A college professor has taken to the New York Times to implore "white America" to go to "war" with itself over its alleged racism. Professor George Yancy of Emory University published "Dear White America" as a "gift" for white people. His challenge: "White America, are you prepared to be at war with yourself, your white identity, your white power, your white privilege?" The ways in which you perpetuate a racist society, the ways in which you are racist.”

Of course my first question was: How did this lunatic ever get a teaching job at any university?

The second question we should be asking is: Is he representative of American academia?  The answer is Yes to the latter, and that explains how he got his job.

Let's start with definition, for without definition clarity is impossible.

First of all, the words racism and prejudice are the two most misused words used in America. The word racist means hating someone simply because they belong to a different race. The word prejudice means to "prejudge".

So the question we should be asking is this: Are whites prejudging blacks and hate them because their black or are whites evaluating them by their actions and saying - I don't like that?  If evaluating black society by the way they act as a culture, we have to conclude they've been found wanting. Violence, crime, illegitimacy and bad attitudes permeate black society. Why would anyone think that was acceptable? Why would anyone want to associate with any group who act in such manner?

Black mobs rampaging through shopping malls, black kids "playing" the knockout game attacking helpless whites - especially if they're alone, old, female and outnumbered. Rampant rates of murder, rape, and crime in general. Not liking that, and saying so, is hardly prejudice or racism!  Unfortunately, there are entirely too many people defending this kind of behavior in black America, from both whites and blacks.  Refusing to recognize that kind of behavior for what it is, and worse yet, defending that kind of activity is actual racism. So, how is that racism?

What they're saying to the world is blacks are incapable of living civilized lives.  They're not capable of living crime free lives.  They're not capable of marrying the women they impregnate and raising their offspring.   They're incapable of holding down a job.  They're saying to the world blacks are savages and we should accept that.  All the while condemning as racist who've been recipients of all that violent behavior and speaking out against it.  Which presents another conundrum for these race hustlers since most of that behavior has been perpetrated against other blacks.   Are we to conclude these blacks who have suffered at the hands of other blacks are racists also?

So, if that's the left's projection of blacks, and it is, we should be asking:  Who are the real racists?

Perhaps they should try and remember Antonio Santiago. You do remember him don't you? At 13 Months Old I Was Killed By Two Black “Children”! What’s My Name?

We keep hearing how blacks are treated differently regarding employment, and the government constantly puts out figures to make that claim. However, when will the government put the whole picture on the wall? When will the government put out a study - based on race - showing how many work days are missed each year, how many days employees come to work late, leave early, cause trouble on the job, level of productivity, theft on the job, disciplinary write-ups, sexual harassment and violence on the job. Do the study!  After that I'm willing to let the cards fall where they may.

Okay, now let's see a show of hands.  How many people think the government or academia will ever undertake such a task? It won't happen - and why?  Because black race hustling activists, academia and the government are filled with racists who care little about black America, seeking instead their own benefits.

Race relations in America is the worst it's been in my almost 76 years, and Obama can take a lot of the blame, along with all the so-called black "leadership", who are nothing by race hustlers.  Race hustlers who totally disparage American conservatives, including those who just happen to be black, and the only ones to offer real solutions for black America, and the nation, because the implementation of conservative values, based on Judaic/Christian principles, raises all ships.

No society can be fixed if it won't recognize it's flaws and choose to fix itself, and living the lie that whites are responsible for the failure of black America is the first flaw that must be abandoned.

It’s Not a Lack of Black Teachers – It’s Disinterested Black Parents

By Mychal Massie November 12, 2015 @ Daily Rant Education, Faith & Family, Race & Politics 35

On February 10, 2004, I wrote:

“It’s not a lack of money, books, smaller class sizes, highly paid teachers, air-conditioned classrooms, science labs, computers or the latest academic bells and whistles [stunting black classroom achievement] – it is parental failure, the inclusion of negative cultural ideologies to the exclusion of sound biblical truths, the lack of discipline and the unwavering acceptance of failure as being the fault of someone else.” (See: In this Case, It’s The Parents’ Fault)

I continued that no matter the excuse, reason or paradigm used:

“Black under performance in school is caused – foremost – by poor parenting. … Poverty does not explain observed [education] gaps…Young black children are exposed to much lower levels of cognitive and emotional stimulation than white children, even in families with comparable income, education and IQ. [Black children] watch more TV, read fewer books and converse and go on educational outings with their families less often.” (See: Home Alone by James J. Heckman and Amy Wax; Wall Street Journal, 1/23/2004)

Tragically little has changed since I wrote the above 11-years ago, which brings me to an experience I had this past weekend. We, along with friends, spent Saturday at the “Grounds For Sculpture: Sculpture Garden” in Hamilton, New Jersey. There were stunning indoor displays and designs, and the outdoors boasted nearly 300 of the most incredible and in many instances lifelike sculptures I have ever seen. Words fail to describe the spectacular majesty and placement of the sculptures and the use of plants, bamboo forests and flora, all of which were bursting with color and contrast.

The spectacle of sculptures and grounds reduced my superlatives to single syllables. I felt as if I had been airlifted into Alice’s Wonderland. I conservatively place the attendance for the several hours we were there to easily have been upwards of 3,000 persons.

Yet it was the transpicuous absence of blacks that I found troubling. It was over three hours into the visit before I observed a gentleman and lady who were persons of color.

I started a conversation with the gentleman, mentioning my observation that we were the only persons of color I had seen there. I expressed my concern for the intellectual asphyxiation of black children based on the lack of healthy cognitive stimulation that comes from the visitation and study of wonders such as the “Grounds For Sculpture.”

It is here important to understand that neither the gentleman nor myself shared our concerns based on a lack of diversity such as race-mongers clamor for – rather we expressed concern because we understood that involving children in the type of intellectual stimulation we were enjoying is paramount to their development of meaningful interests.

At the end of the day I had counted nine black persons visiting the grounds none of whom had children with them, albeit one couple did have a baby with them.

While blacks are not unique in this lack of exposure they are the only group trotting out the victim card of being educationally unprepared for life. The admission cost was about the price of a pack of cigarettes in New Jersey or the cost of perhaps two drinks in a New Jersey neighborhood bar.

Blacks envelope themselves in vestiges of self-limiting destructive behaviors but they deprive their children of the very things that engender intellectual creativity.

Black children, more than the children of any other population group regardless of the income or educational level of their parents, enjoy far less cognitive stimulation based on the visitation to national sites, libraries, galleries, ad nauseum.

Economic and/or employment status doesn’t prevent parents from taking their children to free libraries. It doesn’t stop them from borrowing language tapes at libraries and together with their children learning a new language. It doesn’t stop them from borrowing books on American landmarks and of foreign lands and studying them. The most basic thing parents can do to intellectually stimulate their children can also be the least expensive.

On the way home Saturday evening, I commented that the way to inspire and stimulate these children was not to start a non-profit charitable organization and get public/government money for vehicles to take urban children to visit such exhibitions as the “Grounds For Sculpture.”

Said reason being because that would require no investment of time or interest by the parents. The investment of time and interest would be recognized as the efforts of others, which would support the disinterest of parents from one generation to the next.

Parents, specifically black parents, are more than “my baby’s mamma” and “my baby’s daddy.” They are intended to be more than sperm dumps and sperm catchers.

Blacks cannot continue to blame the white man and play victim when they refuse to do the most basic things that will lead their families into modernity.

Spiraling Violence in Chicago: Causes and Solutions

What Next, Chicago?

February 2022 Volume 51, Number 2

For several years prior to 2020, violent crime in America’s major cities was on the decline. But since the riots that summer following the death of George Floyd, it is heading in the opposite direction.

Murders nationwide in 2020 rose a stunning 29.4 percent over the previous year, the largest annual increase since the FBI began tracking that data in the 1960s. The number of murders in Chicago climbed even more sharply, rising 55 percent. It was as if a switch had been flipped. At least ten major U.S. cities hit new murder highs in 2021, but Chicago led the way with 797, the city’s highest number in 25 years.

Chicago’s violent crime epidemic is not limited to murder. The city’s 3,561 shooting incidents in 2021 were up 63 percent over 2019. Expressway shootings in Chicago-Cook County rose even more dramatically, from 51 in 2019 to 130 in 2020 to 273 in 2021. These expressway shootings pushed Chicago’s actual 2021 murder total north of 800.

Expressway killings aren’t counted in the official city numbers because expressways are under state jurisdiction. But try telling that to Chicagoans. “It’s almost like a modern, 21st century form of dueling,” said Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly. “[People get into fights with] each other on social media, they threaten one another and they say . . . ‘Let’s take this out to the expressway.’”

One of Chicago’s expressway murder victims was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, and special education teacher named Denise Huguelet. Sixty-seven years old, she was being driven home from a White Sox game last summer when she became collateral damage in a shootout on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Terrible and Dishonest Theme For Black History Month

By Mychal Massie February 7, 2022 @ Daily Rant

It’s Black History Month, and the theme for 2022 is Black Health and Wellness.  As Fielding Graduate Universityexplains in an information release:

The theme explores the legacy of Black scholars and medical practitioners in Western medicine and other ways of knowing (e.g., birth workers, doulas, midwives, naturopaths, herbalists, etc.) throughout the African diaspora.  The 2022 theme considers activities, rituals, and initiatives accomplished by Black communities to foster health and wellness.

Pardon me, but in my humble opinion there could not be a greater and more transpicuous example of a contradiction between words and action relative to reality.  Starting first with the recognition of “herbalists,” who I always took to be the marijuana dealers operating out of the low-income housing developments, and the cracks and crevices of every ghetto.

What about the ‘Health and Wellness’ of the unborn children of these people who view what they identify as being a crayon color as the summum bonum?

In the Korean War – 3,075 “black” men killed; in the Vietnam War – 7,243 “black” men died; in all wars since 1980 – 8,197 “black” men died.  That’s a total of 18, 515 forever war from Korea until the end of Bush’s war.

Now take these facts into consideration:

These statistics add up. Since 1973, more than 20 million unborn black babies have been killed in abortions. According to research by black pro-life advocate Walter Hoye, that amounts to about half of the American black population.

“Considering that the total current Black American population is about 42,000,000, the 20,350,000 Black American abortions are equal to 48.45% of the total Black American population. If not for abortion, the total Black American population would be approximately 62,350,000, or 48% greater than it is today,” he wrote in 2016.

But, I’m not done yet. Consider the following from my syndicated column, “The Sad Truth Many ‘Blacks’ Reject.”  Quoting the late Dr. Walter Williams, I wrote:

“Each year, roughly 7,000 (8,000 today) blacks are murdered. Ninety-four percent of the time, the murderer is another black person. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, between 1976 and 2011, there were 279,384 black murder victims. Using the 94 percent figure means that 262,621 were murdered by other blacks. Though blacks are 13 percent of the nation’s population, they account for more than 50 percent of homicide victims. Nationally, black homicide victimization rate is six times that of whites, and in some cities, it’s 22 times that of whites. Coupled with being most of the nation’s homicide victims, blacks are most of the victims of violent personal crimes, such as assault and robbery.”

I would argue if these people were remotely concerned about Health and Wellness the theme would be “end the industrialized systematic extermination of their children.”  They would address the fact that it’s safer to be in combat in a war zone than it is for a child to in the womb of what should be the safest place in its’ life – the womb of his or her mother.

If the theme is Health and Wellness, shouldn’t they be concerned about the increasing numbers of them suffering from mental illness. Proponents of this mental illness can spin it any way they want, but the idea of transgenderism is as much a mental illness as bulimia and anorexia.  Sixteen percent of transgenders identify as a crayon colorand the number is growing.  Gender dysphoria was recognized as a mental illness until a few years ago when the medical definition was changed to accommodate the sodomistic activists.

The theme should examine how long before this population group destroys itself by the abortion industrial complex, self-inflicted extermination vis-à-vis killing one another, drug abuse and the most reprobate forms of mental illness.

Add to the aforementioned, the abandonment of a Christ-centered theology, which has been replaced with messages of hate, anger, immiseration and revisionist history and you have many of their churches that are absent the message and teaching of Jesus Christ.  In many of their inner city churches the message of salvation through Jesus Christ has been replaced or changed into something Biblically unrecognizable.

The theme for this month long festival of jeremiads, accusations and complaint, should be on a proper family construct.  Single parent mothers should not be celebrated.  The women should be taught that it is honorable to not have children out of wedlock.  They should be taught to respect themselves as decent women.  Young men should be taught that being a “babies daddy” doesn’t make one a man.

They should be reminded that in 1964 when the Civil Rights Act was signed, 87 percent of their self-identified demographic lived in married two-parent homes and 44 percent were business owners.

Combine the message I propose with the true message of Jesus Christ and you have a message worth promoting.  It would truly be a life-changing message that would make a life-improved difference.

Facebook Doesn’t Tell Me What I Can Say

By Mychal Massie May 24, 2021 @ Daily Rant

Education / Public Schools   Political, Christian and Conservative Issues   Politics   Pro Life & Family    Racial Policy Center

It’s hardly a secret that the allowance of factual truth relative to Facebook is akin to being boiled in oil.  A fate for them, which I argue, would be far too generous and kind.  But I digress.

It’s a fact that we’re living in the end times.  Nothing is more representative of the demonic zeitgeist in which we live than the suppression of truth in all forms, which places Facebook on top of the heap of those championing lies over truth.

On May 16, 2021, I wrote a post on Facebook, every sentence of which was absolute truth.  However, the arbitrarians at Facebook once again made it clear that truth was not welcomed; and truth most certainly wasn’t welcomed from someone such as myself.

Virtually minutes after my completing and posting the piece, my account was frozen and my access denied.  It was apparent that all forms of truth are dealt with punitively on Facebook.  My penalty went from freezing my account to instructing me to remove the post to Facebook arbitrarily removing it, claiming it violated their community standards after which they unlocked my page.

I wrote:

The following is truth that [many black] people are afraid to own. It is easier to shrug it off by claiming it to be no worse than that of white people.  The problem with that mindset is that it denies personal responsibility.

[Many] blacks today have made a mockery of “moral standards” behaving in ways that are counter productive to every quantifiable level of propriety. Based upon athletic ability, blacks attend colleges and universities that Dr. King could only dream of seeing blacks attend. But many of these athletes are absent the morals Dr. King referenced. They engage in rape, gang rape, drugs, violence, and irresponsibility resulting in out-of-wedlock babies that most times grow up fatherless.

Dr. King fought for blacks to enjoy their God given right to attend any institution they desired and were qualified to attend. Today blacks are dropping out and flunking out of institutions of higher education at an alarming rate. And those who are not, are demanding segregated housing, dining halls, home coming events, graduations, commencements, ad nauseum.  Dr. King was murdered fighting to end and these people are committed to reintroducing it.

Dr. King lived through a period in time, when the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) threatened to murder blacks and he condemned same. Since his death, [upwards of] 30 million black women have murdered their unborn babies.

Dr. King spoke reverently of God and he besieged the God of heaven to protect children. Obama, the so-called black president, invoked the blessings of God upon Planned Parenthood, the primary exterminator of blacks; as he smilingly said Planned Parenthood does good work.

In Dr. King’s lifetime, the KKK wasn’t close to being as prolific in exterminating blacks as Planned Parenthood or even blacks themselves. In 2015, blacks were responsible for killing 8,000 other blacks annually. “Between 1976 and 2011, 279,284 blacks were killed, with 262,621 of them being killed by another black person. That means 94 percent of all blacks were murdered by another black.” (See: Razing Statues Won’t End Blacks’ Destructive Behavior; 9/11/2011)

Dr. King was concerned with family and self-determination. When Dr. King participated in the signing of the Civil Rights Acts in 1964, 87 percent of families that were black had married two-parent households. Forty percent of blacks were business owners. Today over 70 percent of black children grow up in single parent homes, in which the parent can barely afford a pizza.

Blacks are not yet finished trying to reach absolute bottom. Today their complaints are that white people owe them sleep because of slavery. Today blacks condemn Jesus because he is too white looking. Demon-led imposters teach that blacks are from a lost tribe of Israelites. I will agree that these people are a tribe and they are lost.

What did I say untrue? The answer is NOTHING!  Every single word I wrote was absolute fact, that I’ve written and spoken countless times.

I argued the same points when I debated former president Bill Clinton’s advisor on civil rights, the late [UC] Berkley professor Ronald Takaki.  The debate was hosted at UC Santa Barbara, March 2007, in Santa Barbara, California, which makes Facebook’s censorship even more egregious.

In said hotbed of liberalism and a high profile debate with every description of media coverage, there was no censorship.  Obviously Facebook subscribes to a more draconian practice of silencing the truth.

Concealing and denying the truth is what Communism 101.  But Facebook is incapable of silencing those like me.  The more they try, the louder our voices become.

In my opinion Facebook is the sardonic personification of severe dysgenesis.  I won’t be silenced, which is exactly why I’m going to personally post this back on Facebook.

If I don’t speak out on issues of skin color, who will?

Take action and share this!

Don’t Blame Foster Care

The system has flaws, but Ma’Khia Bryant’s problems began long before she entered it.

When it became clear that even the most sympathetic observers would have a hard time blaming the police for the death of Ma’Khia Bryant—whom an officer shot and killed as she was about to stab another girl with a knife—activists instead turned their ire on the foster care system.

Bryant was living with her sister in what was apparently a neglectful, and possibly violent, foster home at the time of her death. Indeed, the fight she was engaged in when she was shot may have involved a former resident at the home; one report claims that the foster mother may have even asked the other girl to fight Bryant. Since 2018, according to records obtained by the Washington Post, police were called to the house 11 times to investigate a teenager who had run away. Police also investigated shots fired from the home into a neighboring residence and were called about a fight between the foster mother and Ma’Khia’s sister.

Writing at The Grio, Stacy Patton, a former foster child herself, wrote about “how traumatizing the American foster care system can be” and maintained that Bryant’s being “a ward of the state has everything to do with her death.” For advocates like Hana Abdur-Rahim, an organizer with the Black Abolitionist Collective of Ohio, the case is more evidence that foster care should be abolished. She told the Washington Post that “a lot of times people’s children get taken away because they can’t afford to take care of them, or they don’t have proper housing.”

But Ma’Khia Bryant’s story did not begin when she entered foster care, and the evidence suggests that living with her biological family was not an option. Of course, we may never know the full story; child welfare records are generally kept confidential, and the family has no incentive to reveal what happened. But we do know some things about her upbringing.

Ma’Khia and her three younger siblings were removed from their mother in March 2018, after police responded to an “incident” at a residence. They found the children unsupervised and also found evidence of abuse by the mother and an older sibling. Ma’Khia’s grandmother took the children in at this point, but their mother did not comply with court orders for mental-health counseling and failed to show up for visitation with her children during this time. After 16 months, their grandmother returned them to the agency.

In other words, these kids were not removed from their biological home and their extended family because of poverty. There’s a big difference between poverty, on the one hand, and abuse and neglect. The vast majority of poor people in the United States don’t abuse their children or leave them unsupervised for long periods of time. Poor grandmothers do not drop off their children with state agencies when they’ve had enough of them. These are signs of profound dysfunction. It’s incumbent on those who want to abolish foster care to explain how giving more money to families like the Bryants would have allowed Ma’Khia to have a safe, decent childhood.

We can do much to improve foster care, to be sure. Yet children are still much less likely to suffer abuse in a foster home than in their biological one. In 2014, the median rate of reported maltreatment of children in foster care was 0.27 percent, a figure much lower than the rate for the general population—around 1 percent.

In almost every state, foster parents are in severely short supply—especially those willing to care for teens. Sometimes the scarcity leads states to let bad foster parents stay in the system. The solution is to do a better job training and supporting quality foster parents. This should start with cooperating with faith-based organizations to recruit middle-class parents who do this work because their faith tells them they should, not because they get a paycheck from the government.

We should also treat foster parents better. There’s a reason that half of foster parents quit in the first year. They don’t want more money. They want respect, caseworkers who tell them the truth about kids, and family courts that don’t jerk them around. They want to be trained in how to handle kids who were traumatized before they were taken into the system. They want to feel like they are helping kids, not becoming part of a system that is making things worse.

As for Ma’Khia Bryant, the family that abused, neglected, and abandoned her in life may now be looking to profit off her death. “She was a 16-year old, vibrant, bubbly girl whose life was cut short by many of our failing systems,” said Michelle Martin, a personal-injury attorney representing the girl’s relatives, at a recent press conference. “We’re going to investigate every agency that had a time and an opportunity to prevent Ma’Khia’s death.” Let’s just say there’s plenty of blame to go around.

What Do Black People Think

Jared Taylor, American Renaissance, April 28, 2021

I’m baffled — again.

Sometimes I marvel at how different blacks are from whites, and this has been a time of marvels. Let’s start with the latest police shooting to get the full, national outrage treatment: Ma’khia Bryant in Columbus, Ohio. On April 20th, police got a 911 call with screaming in the background and a frantic woman shouting that someone “is trying to stab us.” Twelve minutes later, there was another 911 call, but the woman hung up, saying the police were already there.

You may have seen the police body-cam video, but here are the crucial 15 seconds in slow motion. This is the first thing the officer sees when he gets out of the car. 6:18 – 7:52

Guess who that guy is doing the kicking? It’s probably Ma’khia’s father. I don’t see how anyone can watch this video and not think the white officer did exactly the right thing You can’t count on a taser to stop someone in a split second.

But Ma’khia has relatives who disagree. Aunt Hazel told the Daily Beast, “The police are going to lie. They’re not here to protect and serve. They’re here to kill Black folks.” Great Grandmother Ila, said, “It looks to me like that’s what the police wanted to do, to kill her.”..........To Read More....

A website called TB Daily News has learned that Ma’khia had terrible parents. This appears to be her father, Myron Hammonds. A kindly-looking fellow. He is now playing the aggrieved father, but he had to be taken to court to admit he was the baby daddy. Here is the record of the paternity case. Plaintiff is the mother, Paula Bryant, and he is the defendant.

TB Daily News also learned that dad had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and has a criminal record as long as your arm. But he sure came through for Ma’khia when she needed him in that knife fight, didn’t he?

Ma’khia’s mother Paula was charged in 2004 with domestic violence and assault, and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. In 2010, she was charged with domestic violence and endangering children and again pleaded down to a lesser charge. No wonder Ma’khia ended up in foster care.................To Read More....

Derek Chauvin: The Great White Defendant

The man-bites-dog news appeal.

Larry Elder 1 comment

In the brilliant novel "The Bonfire of the Vanities," author Tom Wolfe describes what he calls the intense media interest in covering "The Great White Defendant."

A review of "Bonfire" explains: "The overarching theme of the book is the search for the great white defendant. The vast majority of defendants in New York City are minorities, arrested for killing another minority. The vast majority of the cops and prosecutors are all about the press and their careers. One drug dealer killing another drug dealer is not going to get you any attention; it's a dog-bites-man story — no story. What you want is a man-bites-dog story. Therefore, subliminally, the police, prosecutors and press are always looking for a great white defendant who will make their careers."

Nobody, Wolfe writes, gets upset about massive media coverage of The Great White Defendant. Blacks enjoy watching media coverage of well-off white men, in this case a Wall Street trader, accused of serious wrongdoing, in this case murder. Guilty whites are used to perpetuate the systemic racism media narrative. And the media feel noble when pushing it. Win, win, win.

This brings us to the trial of Derek Chauvin, the white ex-Minneapolis cop convicted of murdering George Floyd, a Black man who initially resisted arrest.

Cable channel HLN has covered the trial from gavel to gavel. When bumping in and out of commercial breaks, HLN displayed a graphic, accompanied by foreboding music, showing two fists tearing an American flag in half, with the caption "America's Very Soul Is on Trial." Black Lives Matter activist Maya Echols, in a since-deleted TikTok video, said: "If George Floyd's murderer is not sentenced, just know that all hell is gonna break loose. Don't be surprised when building are on fire. Just sayin'." And Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., says she is "hopeful" of a conviction, but if not, Waters said: "We've got to stay on the street and we've got to get more active, we've got to get more confrontational. We've got to make sure that they know we mean business."

No, America's "very soul" is not on trial..............To Read More.....

Horowitz On the Chauvin Verdict

David Horowitz brings his take-no-prisoners style to the jury verdict in the Derek Chauvin case.

No one in his right mind could have been surprised by the verdict in the Minneapolis trial of Officer Derek Chauvin for the killing of George Floyd. For 11 straight months cities have been burned, people have been murdered and billions of dollars of property damage have been caused by a national lynch mob determined to be its own judge, jury and executioner.

Headed by Antifa and Black Lives Matter and supported by every so-called “Civil Rights” organization, the Democrat Party and its malignant leadership – Biden, Harris, Pelosi and Schumer, this lynch mob has been on the attack against law enforcement a decade and more. Their threat, No “Justice” No Peace, is a threat that more cities will be attacked, more people will die – perhaps even Chauvin case jurors – if the verdicts they want aren’t delivered. This is a criminal movement with a criminal mission: to substitute its own vigilante justice for America’s justice.

On the eve of the Chauvin trial the City of Minneapolis gave a $27 million settlement to the family of George Floyd – a career criminal and dangerous drug addict. The alleged crime was the wrongful death of Floyd. The settlement was made in advance of the evidence and of the trial. It was a blatant effort to put the authorities and taxpayers of Minneapolis in the camp of the lynch mob – telling the jury that the only justice lay in absolving Floyd of any complicity in his own death and the mayhem that followed.

Nonetheless, anxious that anything might be left to chance, Democrat congressional leader, Maxine Waters, demanded a first degree murder conviction, days before the verdict. The Farrakhanite Attorney General of Minnesota, Keith Ellison, hadn’t even charged Chauvin with First Degree murder, because it was preposterous. But Maxine was not content with letting justice take its course. The Alzheimer President couldn’t contain himself either. According to his opinion – as though he had watched and weighed the hundreds of hours of testimony, the evidence of Chauvin’s guilt was “overwhelming.” Really.

As soon as the formality of the trial was concluded the verdict demanded by the lynch mob was delivered with lightning speed: Guilty on all charges – murder and manslaughter, even though the murder charge didn’t make any legal sense, unless you think arresting a drug addled forged check passer and illegal substance ingester is a felony in itself. Second degree murder involves a killing in the course of committing a felony, and nothing else.............To Read More....

Mass Lootings are an Immorality Problem and not an Injustice Problem

NOTE: In this article, “liberal” and “liberalism” refer to what is known as modern American liberalism, as opposed to classical liberalism that advocates individual liberties, laissez-faire economic system, and limited powers of the government.

About every time a gunman kills a number (greater than three) of random victims in America, the anti-gun lobby repeats their fallacious rhetoric that the firearms’ “availability” is the root cause of the problem.

Last six decades, or so, of “liberal” education in America

As tragic and reprehensible as these events are, the illogicality of the verbal attacks on firearms is stunning. Since the assassination of President Kennedy, guns have been a target of stricter and stricter gun-control laws that have significantly reduced the so-called “gun availability” ostensibly responsible for those atrocities. But despite the fact that acquisition, possession, and use of a firearm by a member of the general public is much more difficult these days than it was, say, 60 years ago, the number of victims of random acts of violence with a firearm has not shown any lasting decreasing tendency, and according to many politicians and pundits is on the rise.

On the other hand, the advocates of more and more gun control and their sympathetic mass media tend to ignore the “engineered” societal trends that are clearly the prime suspects of being the root causes of or contributing factors to the mass shootings. These are: institutional promotion of amorality (which is often a result of institutional encouragement of atheism), a lack of proper supervision and care of mentally ill individuals, de facto glorification of violence in the cyberspace (typically, via certain kinds of video games), institutional attempts to “re-integrate” violent criminal offenders within the society at large, misdirected tolerance towards behavioral weirdness (including propensity towards breaking rules and “minor” infractions of the law, and other kinds of antisocial behavior), a lack of sensible and properly executed standards in immigration and naturalization policies that allow a large number of violent individuals with psychopathic leanings to move-in to America, etc., etc.

As a result, virtually no one of consequence (rare exceptions not withstanding) in American politics and mass media is even suggesting the obvious that the last six decades, or so, of “liberal” education in America - with all its—however small they may seem—absurdities and amoralities, must not be assumed, without any meaningful and compelling evidence, as having nothing to do with incubation of a sizable number of individuals who just wait for an appropriate moment to kill their fellow Americans for not other reason than their frustration, anger, mental sickness, or a lust for violence.

Who Killed Adam Toledo?

How did a 13-year-old boy end up in an alley with a gun at 2:30 on a Monday morning?

Rafael A. Mangual April 19, 2021 @ City Journal.  Published with permission.  I recommend subscribing, it's free.

On March 29, just after 2:30 AM, Chicago’s ShotSpotter alert system detected eight or nine gunshots in the West Side, largely Latino, neighborhood of Little Village, where gangs like the Latin Kings and Two Six have made gunplay a regular part of life. Chicago police officer Eric Stillman and his partner sped toward the gunshots once they received the ShotSpotter alert, doubtless hoping to nab the perpetrators and spare the community additional carnage. When they arrived on the scene, almost immediately after those shots were fired, they happened upon two individuals. One of them—who we now know to be 13-year-old Adam Toledo—took off on foot and, at one point, pulled a gun with his right hand. Stillman gave chase, and the world saw what happened next—at least the part highlighted (and, in one case, deceptively edited) by media outlets, many of which elided the actual events of Toledo’s shooting.

The immediate cause of Toledo’s death was the bullet fired by Officer Stillman. But it’s worth examining how a 13-year-old boy ended up in a full sprint through a dark alley at 2:30 AM with a gun in his hand and a police officer on his tail.

Start a few minutes before the shooting. Though it hasn’t gotten much attention, a video compilation that the Chicago Police Department released includes footage that seems to show Toledo walking with a young man before one (or both) fired the eight or nine shots at a passing vehicle near the alley where the police encountered Toledo. Exactly who pulled the trigger remains unclear (the footage is grainy), though CNN reported last Friday, citing prosecutors, that both Toledo’s hand, and the gloves of the man he was with, tested positive for gunshot residue. According to police, that man is a 21-year-old named Ruben Roman, who was arrested at the scene for allegedly obstructing Officer Stillman as he gave chase.

All indications are that Roman was exactly the kind of negative influence to Toledo that loving parents stuck in high-crime neighborhoods stay up nights worrying about. Chicago’s publicly available arrest database shows that Roman has been collared at least six times by the Chicago Police Department (CPD) since 2017. He has at least one felony conviction, for a gun offense, for which he was apparently sentenced to probation. According to a Chicago police officer (who spoke with me on the condition of anonymity), Roman is listed as a member of the Latin Kings street gang in the CPD’s database.

Local thugs often lure impressionable children into the gangster lifestyle they glorify by promising protection and brotherhood, and Roman seems an illustrative example. But he didn’t protect or care about his young charge the morning of March 29. In fact, as shown on the body-worn camera footage of the officers arriving after Toledo was shot, Roman didn’t shed a tear after Toledo was shot but pretended not to know the 13-year-old at all. Roman’s decision not to provide police with information about Toledo’s identity meant that the boy would be listed as a “John Doe” in the CPD’s paperwork, and his family couldn’t be notified. Toledo’s body remained unidentified in the morgue for two days before the police were able to contact his mother.

This is a common story, sadly. People like Roman corrupt kids like Toledo, and put them on paths that lead to untimely deaths, incarcerations, and perpetrations of evil. Street gangs recruit child soldiers into their turf wars, which turn playgrounds into battlefields and leave parents holding the bodies of the children caught in the crossfire; and they should be shamed for it.

Some reformers, in Illinois and elsewhere, have been pushing proposals to raise the age of criminal responsibility to 18 or 21, which could make this phenomenon worse. A 2015 report in the Chicago Tribune quoted the now-former state’s attorney of Kane County, Illinois, who expressed concern that such a reform would heighten the incentive for “more adult members” to “push the responsibility to carry out shootings onto juveniles.”

Yet while future changes to criminal justice policy might worsen the gang problem in neighborhoods like Little Village, the current criminal justice system also plays a role in Chicago’s toxic gang culture. How does a system that continuously releases known gang members and other repeat offenders back into their communities—despite long arrest records and serious criminal convictions involving firearms and violent crimes—improve the prospects of children in Chicago’s South and West Side neighborhoods, such as Austin, West Garfield Park, Englewood, and Humboldt Park? It doesn’t.

In the end, Adam Toledo’s tragic death was caused not just by a police officer’s bullet but by the forces that introduced him to gang life—influences that won’t go away unless steps are taken to target the incorrigible violent offenders who reduce the chances of kids like Toledo living long and productive lives. That mission will require a groundswell of support to carry out.
