Chicago, That Toddlin Town

I'm sure everyone older remembers Frank Sinatra's rendition of, Chicago "that toddlin town", but I'm willing to be most have no idea what "toddlin" means, including me.

"The toddle was a partnered dance consisting of a series of hop steps, punctuated by back kicks. Along with the Charleston and the Lindy Hop, it defined the jazz culture of the Roaring Twenties.That inspired Fred Fisher to write “Chicago (That Toddlin' Town),” a 1922 song that portrayed the dance as a symbol of the city's devil-may-care spirit. Chicago, as the lyrics noted, was the town the jazz-hating preacher Billy Sunday couldn't shut down."

Well, that devil may care spirit has gotten out of hand, as crime is rampant, in spite of the idea these Democrat mayors claim they're "handling" it, and then blaming Republican who haven't been in power in Chicago since 1931.  

 

Chicago thought they had an idiot with Mayor Lori Lightfoot, so they elected a grifter, leftwing nitwit, and out and out racist, Brandon Johnson, and crime has never been better, for criminals. 

Chicago: Robbers Shoot 86-Year-Old Man, Steal His Truck in Broad Daylight  A gang of alleged robbers shot an 86-year-old man outside his Chicago home Saturday morning around 10 a.m. then stole his truck. C 7 reported that Charles Hobson, Sr. went outside to retrieve something from his truck when a single shot rang out. Hobson’s truck was then stolen.  Hobson was shot in the thigh. FOX 32 noted he was transported to the hospital “in critical condition,” and later died........A database maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times shows 432 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2023, through September 23, 2023.

Chicago Police: Tow Truck Drivers Stealing Cars from Wreck Scenes - Amy Furr 26 Sep 2023 -  Chicago law enforcement said cars are being stolen by tow trucks at wreck sites in the Loop and South Loop, in a Monday report. CWB Chicago reported that tow trucks have stolen approximately four vehicles at wreck sites in recent weeks.  Most of those instances occurred near Lake Shore Drive and police said the tow trucks arrive “apparently unsolicited” and speak with the drivers.  “They take off with the car, but it never winds up where it’s supposed to, and the owners report their vehicles stolen,” the outlet said...........“Tow trucks are illegally stealing cars in plain sight, police admit,” another person said.....

At Least 17 Shot Friday into Saturday Night in Mayor Johnson’s Chicago - We now have a meaningful new announcement from Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson that he is switching parties and becoming a Republican. Eric Johnson is clearly someone driven to make things better.When he writes “American cities need Republicans — and Republicans need American cities,” it is not because he sees a more promising career path for himself in the Republican Party. It’s because he truly believes that America’s cities need mayors “to champion law and order and practice fiscal conservatism.” If we want to see an example of the opposite of what Eric Johnson and Dallas’ citizens have achieved, look no further than Chicago. ............

Well, even though Chicago Democrats are so economically incompetent they've bankrupted Chicago, and they've handled their crime spree so well they've driven out business after business, like Walmart and Whole Foods, they've created what Mayor Johnson calls "food deserts".  He also claims those who criticise his "pro-crime policies were engaging in “yet another attack on a black man as an elected leader”'. 

And racism paid off for Johnson......[but] "however you translate it, Chicago is a disaster. Crime is up 39% as people are being cut up, cut down, shot and beaten by opportunity-starved youths, and a potential budget shortfall is approaching $1 billion. 42% of the city’s budget is going to pensions and interest on debt........... 80,000 people left Chicago in two years. By the time Johnson finishes running it into the ground, there’ll be even less separating Chicago from Detroit"

Fortunately, Johnson has a solution.  Chicago is so lucky to have him.   He has a solution that has historical precedent.  Being an outright Marxist, he wants to open city-owned grocery stores to serve these "food deserts".  Now, these are neighborhoods where crime was so rampant, due to the Democrat's pro-crime mentality,  they destroyed the businesses that served them.  But we can have confidence in this idea, especially since his idea worked so well in the Russia, Cuba, and Venezuela.  What more evidence do we need to be totally confident the Mayor's administration will make it work in Chicago.  Right? You do have confidence in this idea, right? 

And now the open hearted and warm people who made Chicago a Sanctuary City embracing open immigration calling those who opposed it racists, xenophobes, Nazi's and more, or now discovering.... watch out now, here it comes..... they're actually racists, xenophobes and Nazis after all.  

It turns out they loved illegal immigrants when they lived in border states, but they hate them living in Chicago.  So, now they're demanding Chicago end it's ‘Sanctuary City’ policy.  It also appears most Americans are now racists, xenophobes, and Nazi's since  4-in-7 Americans back building a Southern border wall.

And we're shocked why?  We need to never forget, leftists will never let hypocrisy stand in their way.   That's history, and that history is incontestable.
