There is a common joke among women that men never ask for directions when lost. And along with that description is the implied assumption that men are idiots for not asking directions. It is so much faster just to go to someone who knows the area, find the right way, and get on with business. However, that completely defeats the whole purpose of getting lost in the first place — to find your way out yourself. It would never occur to women, who assume they know everything about men anyway, that getting lost actually offers a chance to do what men do best and enjoy most, and that is taking on a challenge and beating it. There is much more to winning than just winning against someone else, or some other team, there is winning over a challenge you set for yourself. We love this. We feel great. We don’t even need anyone there to share this great experience, as we will get lost all by ourselves just to find our way out. It’s who we are. It’s in our DNA. So in the arrogance of thinking men are stupid, women completely miss what makes men great.
You’ve all been watching way too many TV shows where all men, especially all white men, especially white men in commercials, are portrayed as morons.
Like that commercial where Tarzan and Jane are looking for the waterfall. Tarzan is made to look like an idiot for not asking directions, yet it is Jane who is expecting the chimpanzee to speak English. .....To Read More....
My Take - I posted this not because I agree with all he's saying, but because he's hit on a point I think needs to be reinforced over and over again......television deminishes the concept of manhood. Father Knows Best would never be shown today, although it was enormously popular in the 1950's when it was shown. We've lost sight of who we are, what we are, where we're going....or where we should go and if anything ever demonstrated it more clearly than the current Presidential election.....I don't know what could.
