World’s Best Tweet about Communism and Capitalism

I shared a very clever tweet back in 2018 that highlighted the huge gap between “almost capitalism” and “almost socialism.”

That column was entitled the “World’s Best Tweet about Socialism and Capitalism.” And capitalism won the comparison (needless to say).

Let’s do the same thing today, but we’ll replace socialism with communism. And our “Best Tweet” comes from Youseef Kazembe, who shared this gem.

I don’t know this person, but the profile lists Austrian economics and bitcoin, so obviously a sensible libertarian.

And the assertions in the tweet almost certainly are correct.

Here’s a chart, based on the Maddison database, showing inflation-adjusted per-capita GDP in the world’s most capitalist nations and the world’s most communist nations.

Compared to Cuba and North Korea, there’s probably no genuine poverty in Switzerland and Singapore.

But those two rich nations do have some redistribution spending. And they definitely are rich enough to have private charity. So Youseef Kazembe is basically right.

And there is hunger (and even starvation) in Cuba and North Korea, as well as a fear of murder-by-government. So Youseef Kazembe once again is basically right.

My two cents, after looking at this data, is that the dupes and apologists for communism are terrible people.

P.S. Technically, communism is socialist economics (government ownership, central planning, and price controls) combined with political dictatorship.

Unnecessary Regulations: The Vanguard to Dystopia

On July 9, 2013 Ryan Young published an article titled, Regulatory Inflation, starting out saying that; “Turns out bad regulations have a rather large side effect.” He goes on to explain the reality of regulations, which also explains why increased taxes of the ‘rich’, and the ‘corporations’ is in reality a hidden tax on the least able to afford increases in the things they buy. He says:

In their book Democracy in Deficit, Nobel-winning economist James Buchanan and co-author Richard Wagner observed that government spending can create inflation “[t]o the extent that resources utilized by government are less productive than resources utilized by the private sector…”The same principle applies to regulation…

Imagine a simplified economy that consists of just two things: 100 dollars and 100 apples, with the price of an apple being one dollar each. If new regulations pass that make it harder to produce apples, the next year there are only 90 apples produced. Their price goes up from $1 to $1.11.

In the real world the ‘rich’ don’t pay taxes - they increase prices. The same is true regarding regulations. It’s all part of the cost of doing business and any business that fails to increase their prices in face of increasing costs due to tax increases or regulations will eventually go out of business. But ultimately all these costs will fall right on to the backs of the poor.

The analysis in this article I liked the best was dealing with EPA regulations regarding energy production. He states;

Here’s an example. Last year [2012], the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a rule concerning coal power plant emissions that it estimated would cost about $9.6 billion per year. The only demographic that would receive any potential health benefits from this regulation is truly niche: the unborn children of subsistence-level fisherwomen who consume more than 225 pounds per year of self-caught fish exclusively from 90th percentile most-polluted bodies of inland freshwater. And by the EPA’s own analysis, the biggest benefit is an additional 0.00209 IQ point per fisherwoman’s child. This is literally too small to be measured.

The EPA has never identified any such person, so the rule is almost purely wasteful (its unstated purpose is to give fossil fuels an artificial competitive disadvantage). Since the money supply isn’t reduced to match this wealth reduction, the result is an EPA-induced $9.6 billion reduction in purchasing power among everybody who uses fossil fuels —that is, the entire U.S. economy.

So who benefited from these unnecessary regulations? The so-called alternative energy groups, who can’t begin to match the production of traditional energy producers, but society as a whole suffers another jab at the general welfare of its citizens.

Think of all of the nation’s wealth as a pie. Every time one of these expensive valueless regulations is passed it takes a small slice out of that pie. Remember that this is not an investment that will create more wealth, no matter what EPA directors and green misfits say - these unnecessary regulations - which are growing to the tune of approximately 80,000 pages a year at the federal level eating up two trillion dollars a year of the nation’s wealth.  A  continuing and unending leech on our national economic health.  And the poor suffer the most.

In 1996 the Food Quality Protection Act was passed and the pest control industry lost two categories of pesticides, carbamates and organophosphates. The result? Bed bugs are now a national plague. Who benefited from this? Surprisingly, it was the pest control industry, because the cost of bed bug work skyrocketed right through the atmosphere. As a result I am confronted by angry owners of companies from my industry who don’t want effective old chemistry returned, and resent those who are working toward that end.

Municipalities pass regulations regarding use of pesticides on public property making emotional claims that are misleading and ultimately false. But nonetheless they demand that everyone who provides services to their community must 'go green', or adopt Integrated Pest Management standards. What happens? The costs triple or more. So who benefits? Believe it or not it's the pest control and lawn care people who benefit because their making more money than ever. As a result I am seeing far less resistance to these foolish costly regulations. But who suffers? Society as a whole as this eats away at the pie of common wealth.

As these things continue at some point the nation’s wealth will have been consumed by government and a small corrupt elite. You may wish to read the article 'A Toxic System': Why Austerity Still Isn't Working in Greece – and Austerity Means Cuts, Not More Spending. What brought the Greeks to this nightmare? Over regulation, massive debt, large incompetent bureaucracy, sweetheart deals for major corporations and incompetent leadership.  Sound familiar?

He ends this article with this statement; Perhaps some regulatory deflation is in order. I agree, but that can’t happen as long as the EPA exists and all these other agencies exist. The Interior Department, which supposedly has oversight of the EPA, is rampant with green misfits - as a result nothing will change until the EPA is dismantled.  And it shouldn't end there.  When you see the abuse of American’s rights by the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Army Corp of Engineers - it’s clear they need purged also. 

When It Comes to Marxism, Bad Ideas Don’t Get Better with Age

It is time for the God and country loving, flag-waving, baseball playing, hot dog and apple pie eating, and Chevrolet driving crowd to get off their blessed assurance and get a little more involved.

Bad ideas don’t get better with age, even when we have the “intellectually gifted” repeating them loudly and more frequently. Let’s take the monstrosity of Marxism, for example. When I was in my formative years in the early to mid-1980s, most normal folks would have politely laughed at anyone professing to follow anything from the failed Karl Marx. 

In his 2020 book The Devil and Karl Marx: Communism’s Long March of Death, Deception, and Infiltration, Paul Kengor details that in 1849, one year after Marx published his “crowning work,” The Communist Manifesto, he was evicted by his landlord who was fed up with his filthiness. The landlord complained, “Karl drank too much, smoked too much, never exercised, and suffered from warts and boils due to a lack of washing. He stunk . . .” Marx went on to die in despair in March of 1883, penning these words to one of his few friends, “How pointless and empty is life, but how desirable.” I can see how someone of that caliber might be a role model to so many of today’s progressives!...........To Read More.......

San Francisco is a Mess, and They're Shocked, Outraged and Terrified! Imagine That!

On November 2021 Michelle Thompson and Brian Stieglitz posted this article, The rich door and the poor door: Terrified millionaire residents of luxury San Fran condo building hit out after adjoining alleyway becomes city's BIGGEST homeless encampment, saying:

Residents of a Tenderloin-area building say they're scared to go outside because of aggressive homeless people who've set up the city's biggest vagrant camp.  They are occupying an alley near their high-end building, where units have fetched more than $1 million.  One man living in the encampment is known to throw feces, while others steal, break into the garage, and litter the area with garbage, attracting rats  ‘This seems to be a safe space for chop shops, drug trafficking,' one woman said.  The encampment grows as data shows that San Francisco's attorney general is taking a more lenient approach to charging criminals with thefts.

  

Well, that's a great big schadenfreude!  

 

These leftists, especially the wealthy leftists, stood atop their own self-righteous mountain and looked down their noses at the "dispicables" and those bitter Americans "clinging to their guns and Bibles".  After all, if you disagreed with them you were either racist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, or crazy!  Or worse yet, you thought the Constitution was supposed to be the law of the land, and even worse than that, you think laws should be enforced, criminals prosecuted and sent to jail.  Imagine that!

 

Well, they've gotten what they wanted, a totally leftist government at every level of government in California. California is now a state totally controlled by lunatics.  So, how's that working out for them?  Apparently not very well, and they're whining about it!  Imagine that! 

  

 

Well, oodie boodie boo, poor little muff muffs.   It turns out the little muff muffs don't like the mess, having a homeless lunatic throw feces at them, thugs breaking into their garages, the litter and garbage everywhere along with the accompanying surge in rats, and I'm sure other pests including bed bugs.  Not to mention the stench from these misfits urinating and crapping wherever they please, or being accosted by them.  Imagine that!

 

In their arrogance they elected officials that are refusing to prosecute criminals, and crime surged. Imagine that!  All of this was perfectly predictable, except to these arrogant, smug and self righteous leftist minds, because ideology really does make smart people dumb.  

 

This isn't an exclusively California problem, it's a massive leftist problem nationwide.  It's the same in NYC, L.A., Chicago, Detroit, Portland, Seattle and Minneapolis, all run by leftists, all going up in flames.  Filled with bums, thugs and misfits, all of whom are a massive non-productive burden socially and economically in these cities, and it's become so rampant, it's a burden on the nation, and now the nation is bring run by the same kind of lunatics who are working to make this America's standard, and they, and their co-conspirators in the media try to convince the nation's "dispicables", and those "clinging to their guns and Bibles", who are the ones who are insane.  Imagine that!  

 

Well, they talked the talk, shouldn't they be required to walk the talk?  Yes, but get this. They don't want to.

Sights and Sounds: South Africa

Though most media covered it sparingly, South Africa nearly collapsed. Revolver has an excellent article suggesting that South Africa has reached the endpoint of Critical Race Theory, or state-sponsored racism against whites. I’m not so optimistic.

I’m reminded of an old Ronald Reagan joke about Soviet citizens discussing Communism: “Is this it, have we achieved full Communism? Oh no, it’s going to get a hell of a lot worse.”

Blacks, more specifically, some blacks have taken over the government of South Africa and are running the country in their own interests. The new “Rainbow Nation” is built on repudiating the old, successful white South Africa. I suspect things will not get “so bad” that the people will rise up and overturn the corrupt African National Congress. Black radicals will probably gain power and push through more attempts to punish whites — even in tiny villages such as Orania — and there will be more attacks on “white monopoly capital.”................

Leftists occasionally invoke South Africa as a model for the United States. In These Times, Slate, Politico, Foreign Policy, NPR, The Nation, and other publications have called for “Truth and Reconciliation Commissions” for the United States. These commissions have made divisions worse. Some in South Africa speak of the possible separation of a greater “Orania” from “Azania.” That would be the best solution...............

Unfortunately, the most likely solution is that the country will be held together by force. Moreover, South-Africa-style chaos could come here. Joe Biden and others who helped destroy the old South Africa bear moral responsibility.

One popular explanation of the violence is that supporters of former president Jacob Zuma are trying to get President Cyril Ramaphosa to pardon his predecessor and resign. It may have started that way, but now the process can’t be controlled.

It now appears that South Africa has imposed a tenuous order — after at least 212 deaths. President Ramaphosa responded energetically, making three national addresses in six days, and calling it an insurrection................This is not just a “race war” between whites and blacks. This is often a conflict between blacks and other blacks (sometimes between different tribes, or, really, nations.) Indians and blacks are also not getting along................

South Africa is a nation in name only. It is a loose confederation of hostile tribes, and our white kinsmen are the most endangered. Every white in South Africa should be eligible for refugee status in the West.  The best solution is something even National Review suggested: a homeland for South Africa’s white tribe..........To Read More....

Crazy as Loons, Vicious as a Vipers

In 2011 this article appeared, Global Warming must be true, Charles Manson believes in it, quoting Manson  saying:

'Everyone’s God and if we don’t wake up to that there’s going to be no weather because our polar caps are melting because we’re doing bad things to the atmosphere. ‘If we don’t change that as rapidly as I’m speaking to you now, if we don’t put the green back on the planet and put the trees back that we’ve butchered, if we don’t go to war against the problem...'….On the environment, Manson said: 'Sooner or later the will of God will prevail over all of you. And I was condemned as the will of God.' 'We are all martyrs. Love is a martyr... I am a martyr. But I am also a victim. And I'm a performer……I'm both. I am everything. I am nothing.'

Well, I think I can honestly say - Yup - he’s qualified - he’s a Greenie!  Crazy as a loon and vicious as a viper! 

Much of what you see being touted by animal rights and green activists was first put into practice on a national level by the first green government; Nazi Germany. Hurt an animal and Herman Goering would have you dealt with in some unpleasant way. That is the problem with all the greenies from then until now:  They love the world, its people they hate.

When I read comments from “normal” people who "know" that global warming is "real", in spite of all that's been exposed showing the corruption and junk science behind all these claims of disaster, I wonder at which Temple of the Church of the Warming Globe do they worship?  

Global Warming, or anthropogenic climate change isn't settled science.  It isn't even science! It's an irrational, misanthropic pseudo-pagan philosophical secular religion.

I've been asked on more than one occasion by those who knew I've spent a lot of time researching this issue and writing about it,  if I believed in global warming?   My answer is always the same.  Yes, and I believe in global warming and I also believe in global cooling.   What I don't believe mankind has a thing to do with either. 

We have more than enough historical data to show that the Earth has warmed and cooled often in its history, showing huge swings in temperature, and mankind didn't have a thing to do with any of it. What about the disasters they are predicting for today? Did those kinds of disasters occur then when the temperatures where substantially higher than what they're predicting now? There is absolutely nothing in the historical records, or anywhere else for that matter, to show that these things happened at those times!  Why then should we believe they will occur now?

As for Ocean acidification... that is just more horsepucky to push an agenda of global governance. If it isn’t CO2, it will be ocean acidification. If it isn’t that it will be some other high sounding complicated claim that will by un-proven and will be as equally un-provable.  Along with all the other horsepucky they have spewed out.

This issue is singular. Does mankind have the ability to control the climate in any way? The answer is NO! 

So why should we believe that the minute amount of CO2 mankind puts into the atmosphere will alter the weather over the next ten days, let alone over the next fifty years.  Especially since we know from the data that the amount of CO2 has fluctuated dramatically over the eons. And data also shows that the CO2 increases did not precede the warming periods, it followed them. 

The fact of the matter is,  Anthropogenic Climate Change Was Always High Smelling! 

If you took all the cows in the United States and figured out how much greenhouse gas they emit, would you be able to sue all the farmers who own them? That interesting legal question came from Justice Antonin Scalia during Supreme Court oral arguments about whether an environmental case against five big U.S. power companies can go forward........“You’re lumping them all together,” he said of the five big power companies. “Suppose you lump together all the cows in the country. Would that allow you to sue all those farmers? I mean, don’t you have to do it defendant by defendant? … Cow by cow or at least farm by farm?” And if you can lump all the cows together and claim they fuel global warming, Scalia reasoned, “you can lump together all the people in the United States who breathe, I suppose?” 

The greenies have been allowed to trample on everyone’s rights because we fail to grasp what is right and what is wrong. Everything that was traditional wisdom has been replaced by conventional wisdom. 

Traditional wisdom became traditional because it stood the test of time. Conventional wisdom is nothing more than the latest philosophical flavor of the day touted by the so-called “best and brightest”, along with radical misfits, a corrupt media, government bureaucrats, elected officials and judges whose rulings are so irrational that their sanity, along with their integrity, should be called into question. 

When we adopt their concepts we have historical background that demonstrates greenie solutions lead to dystopia; squalor, misery, suffering disease and early death.  Why would we think crazy and vicious is a good solution?  

 

P&D Today and My Commentary

Socialism is a multifaceted movement.  Progressives, communists, fascists, in all their various permutations, including Democrats, are all socialists, including Nazism, which the left continues to paint as right wing.  Yes, Hitler and Mussolini were right wing alright, but they represented the right wing of socialism and Stalin represented the left wing, but let's try and get this right for the last time - they were two sides of the same coin.  

They  were then, just as they are now, a cancer that metastasizes and eats the flesh, bones, skin and organs of any society they infest.  

Constantly proclaiming they're the heralds of utopia, yet they've unendingly delivered dystopia, hunger, suffering disease and early death.  They murdered a hundred million innocent people in the 20th century, and that's not including the potentially over hundred million who've died as a result of the policies of the environmental movement, especially the ban on DDT.  Environmentalism with the fall of the Soviet Union became the spear point for the socialist movement to impose a socialist system of worldwide governance, global warming being one such scientifically fraudulent propositions being used to impose that system. 

They've infested science, academia, entertainment, government, education, unions, big business, media, newspapers, even religion, in spite of the fact socialism is fundamentally atheistic, and the result is they're leading the world into disaster.  

The common denominator that binds and divides all socialists is they're foundation.  Greed, envy, hate and violence.  After they destroy a society they then turn on each other.

That's history, and that history is incontestable.

Everything is Fake in Utopia

When Democrats gain power through fraud, everything that follows becomes fake as well.

The media bombarded our screens with fake stories about Russian collusion, "hands up don't shoot," Jussie Smollett, systemic racism, and "very fine people" at Charlottesville.  These falsehoods are the output of professional fraudsters whose flagship product is shipping lies in bulk.  

After getting away with an election so fraudulent that we have it on video, a fake impeachment seems like an appropriate next step. The public relations event featuring high-profile scammers using manipulated tweets as evidence to attack Trump is the perfect encore to the greatest heist of our lifetime.  

When deception is normalized, tech giants can routinely conceal Biden’s unpopularity. On Biden’s campaign trail, mass manipulators scripted questions for audience members to ask him.  Not even a month into office, the phony administration requested its media allies brief them on questions they intend to ask.  White House press conferences will still be theatre, but Jim Acosta will no longer have a part. 

Our fraud-in-chief was filmed repeating "salute the marines" after someone likely relayed the command to him through an earpiece.  If you ask the fraudsters, Biden actually said "good-looking marines," and we all misheard him.  We're supposed to believe that Biden complimenting the looks of male marines is more sensical than a party of manipulators secretly telling a senile puppet what to do.  I’ll take door number two.

When everything is fake, Joe Biden is a "devout Christian" who supports abortion, Black Lives Matter, and the most radical factions of the LGBTQ lobby.  It doesn't matter that these movements are antithetical to Christianity because fake is the new normal.  Leftists might find solace in pretending a man with no redeemable qualities is a profoundly religious person because it reassures Catholics they can be hip left-wingers without undermining their faith.  Of course, that's a lie, but accepting what's fake to avoid hard truths is a significant benefit of leftism. That tradeoff gave birth to the abortion industry, transgenderism, and systemic racism.

In our fake new world, Hunter Biden is an expert in Ukrainian and Chinese affairs, and there's nothing suspicious about him raking in millions from foreign companies. Ilhan Omar's staffers did not illegally harvest ballots, and Maxine Waters never told Democrats to attack Republicans.  If the security footage from State Farm Arena on election night is a conspiracy theory, so are the videos of Omar and Waters.

Living in unreality means Republicans almost murdered Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on January 6th and a D.C. police officer was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher. When both stories turn out to be lies, it was irrelevant, because they served a purpose.  Pretending to be mortified by political opponents' behavior is one of the Democrats' favorite national pastimes.  

Ever since January 6th, social media became platforms to rant about "insurrection," "sedition," "treason," and "domestic terrorists," by nearly every blue checkmark. Whenever a prominent Republican like Ted Cruz tweets, the replies are dominated by leftists reciting these lines right on cue, still pretending to be haunted by the event.  

In response, Republicans are eager to cite the riots by Antifa and Black Lives Matter that killed dozens of Americans and caused billions in damages, anticipating that the hypocrisy would matter to Democrats.  That kind of hypocrisy might cause rational people to stop and reflect, but it makes no difference to phonies.  A child isn't concerned with hypocrisy while pretending to be a superhero, and neither are leftists.

Hypocrisy is only bothersome to people interested in truth, but the left has different rules.  They are immune to hypocrisy because they don't believe many of the things they espouse.  Do you really think Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi had an epiphany in their seventies that there's an infinite number of genders? Unlikely, but they have no problem faking it.   

Democrats aren't suffering from amnesia.  They didn't forget screaming "Gestapo" when Trump defended federal buildings from rioters.  Their outrage was fake when Trump sent troops to Portland, and it's fake now concerning Capitol Hill.  These are the people who turn the other cheek when sanctuary cities release illegal aliens after murdering teenage girls with a machete and sue states who outlaw the butchering of babies with a heartbeat.  Spare us all the charade about being horrified that four Americans died on Capitol Hill from suicides, strokes, and a police officer killing an unarmed Trump supporter.  Everyone knows it's an act, including the purveyors.

I'm not shocked that Andrew Cuomo falsified COVID-19 death counts at nursing homes.  Frankly, it's stunning the media is covering it at all.  I'm sure Cuomo is surprised to face scrutiny for lying when fraud is the party's modus operandi.  We've already witnessed counties falsely attributing deaths to COVID-19. A recent study even concluded COVID-19 deaths might be 1600% overreported.  If I were part of a fraud syndicate like Cuomo and was the only one required to report honestly, I'd be upset too.

The good news for Cuomo is that people who lie for a living have been in these situations before. He'll have to endure some bad press as punishment for getting caught, but he's not in any real trouble.  The Democrats will set up a pretend investigation by a congressional committee or a deep state-controlled department.  It must be a separate entity to appear legitimate and unbiased but comprised of fellow party members.  The FBI or DoJ will work fine because Democrats can corrupt institutions faster than Rumpelstiltskin can spin hay into gold.

The fake investigation will rule Cuomo innocent, and Democrats will leverage the sham ruling to crack down on "disinformation" because this incident demonstrates the dangers of conspiracy theorists having first amendment protections.

It would be hypocritical for a fake party to punish another member for being a fraud, and that kind of hypocrisy is the only type the left can't tolerate.  It worked for Hillary, Comey, and Brennan, and it will work for Cuomo, too.

New York Had It Coming

I used to love New York City. There was so much to do and see, but if one were from the heartland like me, one could be perfectly content to just walk the streets and look at architecture and people. One might seek out venues one had seen in the movies, such as in Woody Allen’s Manhattan; perhaps Elaine’s. And when one got weary from walking, one could sit down at one of two, count ‘em, two major opera houses. And after a performance one might grab a beer at that joint across the street from the Met and muse about what a wonderful city one was visiting, where the Bronx is up and the Battery’s down. It really was a helluva town.

I used to love New York City, but there’s not much left to love. In the wake of the riots and vandalism things aren’t so wonderful in the Big Apple anymore. Some have said the city is dead and isn’t coming back. Indeed, on August 13, former hedge-fund manager, author, and bon vivant James Altucher self-published NYC Is Dead Forever. It’s a longish article with three charts, but it’s worth your time, as it has insights that might be transferable to other cities:

NYC has never been locked down for five months. Not in any pandemic, war, financial crisis, never. In the middle of the polio epidemic, when little kids (including my mother) were going paralyzed or dying (my mother ended up with a bad leg), NYC didn't go through this.

Thousands of productive New Yorkers have left the City, and Altucher thinks they won’t be coming back. Even so, many are taking their jobs with them. They don’t need to commute to work, as they can telecommunicate to work. That’s because of the huge increases in bandwidth, Altucher tells us. Victor Davis Hanson Tells Tucker Why California Is ‘America’s First Third-World State’

Historian Victor Davis Hanson described why he feels his home state of California is America’s first “Third World state” during a Monday night appearance on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Hanson’s comments came after the state’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, said that national Republicans will go “into the waste bin of history, the way Republicans of the ’90s [in California] have gone.”



Responding to host Tucker Carlson’s question about why he considers California a “Third World state,” Hanson pointed to “symptoms” we typically “associate with failed states” such as high taxes, poor schools, a super-rich class, and a significant percentage of its people below the poverty line.

“We have the most billionaires of any state in nation and then we have the largest underclass,” he said, blaming in part the overturning of the “very popular” Proposition 187, which would have denied non-emergency healthcare to illegal immigrants.

“That was unfortunately part of a perfect storm,” said Hanson, describing the millions of people who chose to move elsewhere over the next two decades.........To Read More....
