A huge defeat for those who set out to destroy the Education nominee.

t was a squeaker, but what is important is the outcome. When I heard the appointment, I knew there would be trouble. The extensive DeVos family, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is part of the donor class, as has been amply documented. The family fortune, based on Amway products, is estimated at $5 billion. The DeVos family is a political force without comparison in Michigan. “Their politics are profoundly Christian and conservative,” says Politico........The teachers unions, always vicious about private alternatives, targeted DeVos for extinction......To Read More.....
My Take - I think this is a strange article. I'm not sure whether this article is a bit of sarcasm or wellllll.....illogical. He seems to be criticizing her for not accepting the leftist agenda being pushed in the schools and not understanding how the federal government has complicated education with their regulations and seems to think she doesn't really understand education, doesn't like her politics and religious fervor and feels she was only being rewarded for supporting Trump. And according to him conservative values are wrong for the schools. And yet calls this a victory? It appears to me he thinks littel of DeVos and I see this is a bunch of logical fallacies including subtle ad hominem attacks.
Did I miss something in the article?
Here's the one thing she understands....and it's the only thing any of the new appointees need to understand. This department - as well as the Labor Department, Commerce Department, Energy Department, Housing and Urban Development need to be dumped, right along with their regulations. Agriculture and Interior need to be merged and then phased out, and Veterans Affairs need to be made an independent agency under Defence and Homeland Security under the Justice department. The money we're wasting on these people and their schemes will be a welcome relief to the budget, and the long term benefit will be incalculable.
That leaves the only things the federal government should be involved in. Departments of Defense, Justice and State.
Will there be bumps? Of course, but education is a state issue and the first thing that will be done once the federal government is out of it is to dump the teachers unions. Especailly if and when the Labor department is dumped. But, I can't imagine a bigger boost to the economy or the political and social health of the nation.
