Bachmann: Put chief justice on O-Care - Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) on Wednesday said Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. should be forced to purchase health insurance through ObamaCare exchanges because he wrote the opinion upholding the law that she described as  complete and utter disaster. BachmannContinue reading

Are kid cages protecting N.M. children, or a case of ranchers crying wolf? - A child waiting for a school bus in Reserve, a tiny community in rural New Mexico, may feel a little caged in, perhaps claustrophobic — but that’s precisely the point.  About a half-dozen wooden and mesh "kid cages" are located at bus stops in the rural, western New Mexico town, where there have been sightings of the Mexican gray wolf. Some of the 300 or so residents say the shelters could save the life of a child who waits in the predawn hours for a ride to school, but critics say they are part of an effort by ranchers to demonize the animals……"They’re designed so children can step up in them and sit down and wait for the bus……but their purpose is under renewed scrutiny as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) proposes to extend Endangered Species Act protections for an estimated 75 Mexican gray wolves in New Mexico and Arizona. Ranchers are opposed to the extension, and claim that the wolves, which prey on livestock but have not been known to attack humans in the area, should be hunted….Continue reading ....

My Take This is clearly a safety issue that would be obvious to any sane person living in these areas, but the Wildlife Service intends to stink up the place with a clearly unwarranted and, in my opinion, illegal interpretation of the Endangered Species Act.  I would like to know by what insane thinking these environmental activists at the Interior Department think they can tell local’s they can’t protect their children with buildings that represent no direct or indirect harm to anything?

Four things.

This is just one more reason to abolish the ESA, and the Wildlife service and eliminate the Interior Department.

Secondly; this is a clear demonstration that activist’s claims about what they do is “for the children” is blatantly false!  Most of what they have promoted has been “to” the children, not “for” the children.

Third; these cages aren’t going to influence the locals one bit.  People who live in these rural areas, where ranches and farms exist as a way of life, already believe the wolves need to be hunted and their numbers seriously reduced.

Finally; does this mean if someone runs an article in the local newspaper demanding broader hunting privileges of these predators they can fall under the control of the ESA, as applied by the Wildlife Service, because they “influence” people to hunt wolves?

We have lost our minds! What is wrong with a society that allows corrupt, irrational, misanthropic and morally defective activists to have power as government bureaucrats, who are out of control.  We have lost our minds!
