Now that some sanity
has returned to public health, we can have a sensible discussion about
COVID. Is it a unique virus or just another flu virus? Politicians and public health officials
would have you believe that it is unique and that you should follow
"their" science to deal with it. But, as you will see, their intentions
can be capably described by H.L. Mencken:
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless
series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."
James O. Eifert, commander of the Florida National guard, recently acknowledged
that "there have been only 95 U.S. service-member deaths attributed to
COVID from a total military population of 2.154 million. That's a
mortality rate of 0.004% — and a case-survival rate of 99.98%, based on
the 421,807 infections the Pentagon has reported as of July 1. By
contrast, the military's suicide rate during 2020 was about seven times
as great (0.027%)."
Let's unpack what Commander Eifert is saying. We use the term "Case Fatality Rate," CFR. It
is the number of people who die from a specified disease divided by all
individuals diagnosed with the disease over a period of time. Most CFR
reporting by public health officials during the so‑called pandemic used
numbers of people testing positive for the COVID virus (i.e., confirmed
cases) instead of individuals diagnosed with a disease. We use the

For those who've been reading P&D regularly, you will hopefully remember this was my contention from the beginning. The only thing no one knew was these vaccines were not going to work, wouldn't prevent transmission, but importantly, it never occurred to us they would be killing people. All for a "flu" that has an overall 99.7% recovery rate.

A new study finds that more than half of Los
Angeles County residents recently infected with the omicron variant of
COVID-19 were unaware of it, suggesting the virus is spreading faster as
it weakens. The study of
210 adults infected between Dec. 15 and May 4 was published Wednesday
in JAMA Network Open. It found that 56% of those infected did not know
they had COVID, with health care workers being more likely to know.
Lead researcher Dr. Susan Cheng, a cardiologist
at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said those who didn’t know they had
COVID had no symptoms or mild symptoms that they “attributed to another

My Take- So, if so many of them weren't sick, why were they tested? It appears my position from the beginning was absolutely right on....none of this is a big deal. If people aren't sick, or if they have what's no more than a prob lam than a common cold, in saner days everyone would shrug their shoulders and go
to work. We need to get back to that now. Everything we see and know substantiates all this clabber is nothing short of hysteria, lies and hyperbole, all promoted by self serving politicians, bureaucrats and a corrupted medical community.
At least the pandemic had a silver lining. It taught parents that there are better alternatives to government schools. When
COVID hit, bureaucrats in control were eager to close schools. Many
closed them if just one child tested positive, even though COVID is
little threat to kids. Union teachers seemed eager to be paid not
to work. Los Angeles teachers secured a contract that said they will
"not be required to teach classes using live video conferencing," and
won't be required to "provide instruction more than four hours a day."
Nice work if you can get it. More than a million parents chose to
leave the government system. They spent their own money to educate their
children in private and religious schools.

Nationwide, there are just under 12 Million Confirmed Vaccine Breakthrough Cases
where the shot failed to prevent infection. An increase of more than 10
Million failures in less than 7 months and with only a handful of
states tracking this crucial data.
There are just over 276,000 Confirmed Vaccine Breakthrough Hospitalizations
where the shot failed to keep people out of the hospital. The average
cost per hospitalization? An average of $74,591 to $317,810 per person,
according to FairHealth.org.
There are over 56,000 Confirmed Vaccine Breakthrough Deaths, proof the shots don’t save lives. How many of the supposed COVID deaths were vaccinated? If the CDC knows, they’re not telling.
The
CDC stopped reporting all vaccine breakthrough data in October 2021,
not coincidentally, just as vaccine breakthroughs began skyrocketing.
At
the peak of state reporting in February 2022, there were only 26 states
reporting vaccine breakthrough data. By June 2022, that number had
dropped to 17 as nine states decided to terminate all breakthrough
reporting despite the urgent need for this data.
While many states like Florida refuse to report any vaccine breakthrough data, some states like Colorado
decided inexplicably to switch from reporting vaccine breakthroughs to
reporting a made-up statistic never used before called vaccine efficacy,
and other states like Texas and Massachusetts stopped reporting altogether.

data and demonstrating clearly that the majority of cases and
hospitalizations are in the ‘fully vaxxed’ compared to the ‘unvaxxed,’
proving the shots don’t work.

I don't want to go
crazy here, but the federal, state, and local governments are driving me
off the edge. My county instituted another stupid mask mandate — a
useless, counterproductive exercise,
which is being very, very unevenly enforced, I have to say. In Alameda
County, Berkeley has its own health department, which didn't go
along. You can go to the Berkeley Whole Foods without a mask, while
Oakland requires them. So, so stupid! Here's a more detailed explanation of how much harm masking does. The only reason for making anyone put on a mask is to control him and marginalize his liberty.
What prompted this mandate? Who
knows? "Cases" are reported to be up. Yeah, but what about
hospitalizations and deaths? The national COVID tracker database is
gone. First, they stopped recording numbers, so every state and county
graph simply flatlined. Then the site disappeared altogether. Tell me
why, please! It's always been the one reliable source of
information. Did they stop so we'd be in the dark while they pushed for
more restrictions?
If I hear another person say, "I'm up to date
on my shots, but I just got COVID," I will scream. They all say the
same thing, and it's always BS: "At least I was vaccinated, so it wasn't
so bad." Look at the facts, people — if you can find them still! I had to put a link for stats in England, not the USA.
The
people getting COVID are all vaccinated. The vaccinated are also the
ones getting serious illnesses. Countries that never got on the jab

The World Health Organization (WHO) has admitted
that the very lockdown policies it advocated for have been instrumental
in a drastic increase in mental health issues on a global scale. In a report
published on Friday, the World Health Organization claimed that anxiety
and depression rose globally by a staggering 25 per cent in the first
year of Chinese coronavirus lockdowns, alone. As a result, the report
estimated that over one billion people worldwide are now suffering from
mental health issues.
“Restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic for example had
significant mental health consequences for many, including stress,
anxiety or depression stemming from social isolation, disconnectedness
and uncertainty about the future,” the W.H.O. stated.
The W.H.O. not only was instrumental in spreading Communist Chinese propaganda
about the ability of the coronavirus to spread from human to human but
was also a keen supporter of lockdown policies in response to the virus,

Those were the words of Dr. Rajeev Venkayya in 2005 when he headed
the White House bioterrorism study group under George W. Bush. “We want
to use all instruments of national power to confront this threat,”
Venkayya told colleagues in the administration, as reported by Michael
Lewis in his book “The Premonition.”
That was the birth of the idea of national lockdown for pathogenic
threat. To mainstream epidemiologists, the idea seemed crazy and
potentially ruinous at the time, a fact that only emboldened its
creators. Venkayya’s colleague computer scientist Robert Glass told
Lewis:
I asked myself, “Why didn’t these epidemiologists
figure it out?” They didn’t figure it out because they didn’t have tools
that were focused on the problem. They had tools to understand the
movement of infectious diseases without the purpose of trying to stop
them.
Another convert to the idea, Dr. Carter Mecher, a man who was highly
instrumental in provoking school shutdowns March 17, 2020, summed up the
idea:
“If you got everyone and locked each of them in their
own room and didn’t let them talk to anyone, you would not have any
disease.”
Now there’s an idea: universal solitary confinement!
One can only marvel at the hubris that contradicted a century or more
of public-health practice. But somehow the idea caught on and spread. I
had offered a critique of all of this in 2005 but hardly anyone was seriously interested at the time. The advocates of lockdowns
had to wait 15 years for their moment but finally it arrived in 2020.
Panic was in the air and everyone was crying out for a solution. This
was their day, their experiment, their wild ride into the unknown.
Like a virus, the practice of lockdown began in China, spread to
Italy, came to the United States, and eventually snagged every country
in the world but a few holdouts that tried to maintain life as normal.
It happened to the cheers of national media and Big Tech, while most
scientists, public health officials, and medical doctors remained
silent. The brave few who spoke out against what was happening were shot
down as heretics, while suffering smears and attacks that continue to
this day.
In my own conversations with Venkayya early in the pandemic in 2020, I
kept asking the same question again and again: what happens to the
virus? He had two answers. First, bringing down infections below the
transmission rate of 1-to-1 eventually eradicates it. Based on my
reading, I was skeptical. In response, he pointed out that there will
eventually be vaccines. I simply could not imagine in those days that
lockdown could last that long.
What I hadn’t known at the time—but which was predicted by many who
understand this type of virus and also could be intuited from reading the EUA—was
that the vaccine in fact would not be capable of sterilizing the virus
or stopping the spread. It would be a different kind of vaccine, one
that mitigated against hospitalization and deaths so long as the
duration of effectiveness lasts.
The entire lockdown ideology reminded me of Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, “Masque of the Red Death.”
The prince and the aristocracy hid in a castle during the pandemic and
planned a big party once the pathogen was gone. But the pathogen found
them eventually. You can get the rest.
One country that followed the lockdown/vaccine playbook in every
respect, seeking fully to eradicate the virus, was Hong Kong. It’s been
praised for two years for its track-and-trace, its universal masking,
its travel restrictions, and its high vaccination rate. Covid did seem
to be kept at bay, for a long time.
Now at the seeming end of the pandemic, right as the rest of the
world has come around to the view that we must “live with Covid,” Hong
Kong has experienced its worst outbreak. Its death rate per million has
set new records.
Whatever the explanation for this astonishing spike, this much we
know: the experience represents the total failure of lockdown ideology.
Something very similar is happening anywhere in the world where
zero-Covid was practiced.
Of course it’s not just Hong Kong. Many empirical studies, even from
the summer of 2020, have demonstrated no systematic long-term
relationship between policy stringency and virus mitigation. There is no
eradication through social and economic controls.
Venkayya and his friends might have invented “pandemic planning” of
this sort but it did not work. Instead it created mass suffering,
demoralization, confusion, and public anger, not to mention having
vastly expanded government power over the entire world. It is not an
accident that censorship, ill-health, illiteracy, and now war are left
in the wake of this fiasco. The lockdowns shattered what was called
civilization, rooted in the rights and freedoms that “pandemic planning”
reduced to nothingness.
We should remember the man who called out this crazed ideology back
in 2006. He is Donald A. Henderson, the world’s most important
epidemiologist at the time. He had worked with the World Health
Organization and is given primary credit for the eradication of
smallpox. His book on the topic is a tour de force and a model of how a genuine public health official goes about his work.
His 2006 article provided a comprehensive critique of lockdown ideology. The title is “Disease Mitigation Measures in the Control of Pandemic Influenza.”
He notes the new interest “in a range of disease mitigation measures.
Possible measures that have been proposed include: isolation of sick
people in hospital or at home, use of antiviral medications,
hand-washing and respiratory etiquette, large-scale or home quarantine
of people believed to have been exposed, travel restrictions,
prohibition of social gatherings, school closures, maintaining personal
distance, and the use of masks.”
“We must ask,” he writes, “whether any or all of the proposed
measures are epidemiologically sound, logistically feasible, and
politically viable. It is also critically important to consider possible
secondary social and economic impacts of various mitigation measures.”
Coming under special scrutiny here was the neologism “social
distancing.” He points out that it has been deployed to describe
everything from simple actions to avoid exposure to covering full-scale
closures and stay-at-home orders.
He approves of course of hand-washing and using tissues but points
out that while these practices have individual value, there is no
evidence that making the practices widespread will somehow end a
pandemic or even stop the spread of a virus. As for the other
measures—travel restrictions, closures, stay-at-home orders, prohibition
of gatherings, masking—he shoots them down one by one using logic,
experience, and citations from literature. While it is good to be
prepared for a pandemic, we must remember that they do come and go.
Wrecking society and rights achieves nothing.
He saves the best as the final flourish. Read it and see his prophecy in action:
Experience has shown that communities faced with
epidemics or other adverse events respond best and with the least
anxiety when the normal social functioning of the community is least
disrupted. Strong political and public health leadership to provide
reassurance and to ensure that needed medical care services are provided
are critical elements. If either is seen to be less than optimal, a manageable epidemic could move toward catastrophe.
Dr. Henderson died in 2016. Four years later, precisely what he
warned against became policy the world over. And yet after two years of
hell, and now that the fear has subsided and the political and
bureaucratic class is acquiescing to the dramatic change in public
opinion, the pandemic is becoming endemic in exactly the way it always
has in the past, precisely as he said it would.
What are the lessons here? When someone with power proclaims to have a
new theory and practice to eradicate something undesirable, and it only
requires the temporary suspension of all rights and liberties, look
out. If they get their way and the damage is done, they will very likely
not be found anywhere to accept responsibility. And the rest of us will
be left with the carnage, plus living under a planning machinery
looking for another mission to distract the public from its failures.

Now that President Joe Biden has declared that Americans can begin to

compares to the perception of the American people.

recent polling showed that a majority of Americans are ready to begin
moving toward a society without COVID-19 restrictions, Democratic governors and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) began to lift mask mandates and relax mask guidance
that Democratic voters have largely supported throughout the pandemic.

wary about moving on and Republicans who generally already have, and it
can be explained by how misinformed the American people are about the

Covid-19
cases declined in November 2021, and concerns over the Delta variant
began to subside. Many Americans hoped the end of the pandemic was near.
They also anxiously braced themselves for what the “new normal” would
bring.
Sadly, 2021 might be our “new normal.”
As the outlook improved, President Biden announced that student loan repayments would begin on January 31, 2022. Originally part of the CARES Act, student loan payments were suspended
to assist millions of Americans with dealing with financial hardships
from the pandemic and economic contraction. Although few were excited to
resume paying off their loans, the President’s conviction signaled
optimism and a return to pre-Covid life.
But as the year came to an end and Omicron cases began to surface
across the country, President Biden signed another executive order extending
the student loan moratorium until May 1, 2022. Since President Trump’s
first extension in September 2020, loan repayments have been extended five additional times.
A few weeks before President Trump’s extension, the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention issued a national eviction moratorium,
preventing many landlords from evicting tenants for non-payment of rent.
From September 4, 2020 until June 30, 2021, the President and CDC
Director would extend the moratorium four additional times. The fifth
attempt failed after the Supreme Court struck down an effort to extend
banning evictions for two additional months. Despite the ruling from the
highest court in the country, nearly half of all renters remain protected by state and local legislation from being evicted (as the President urged).
Not only has our government gained the authority to prevent evictions
and decide who does not have to pay back student loans, it’s also
extended its power to do so multiple times in a little over a year.
The growth and reach of government power during the pandemic has been
swift and startling in many ways. But it is not surprising.
In his pioneering (and deeply troubling) bookCrisis and Leviathan,
economist and historian Robert Higgs argues that governments expand
their scope and size most easily during a crisis. A fearful public takes
drastic measures, including sacrificing their freedoms, to governments
that propose measures to end the crisis.
Crises end, but newly designated powers and increased budgets
governments receive throughout seldom end with them. Instead, government
power exhibits a ratchet effect, never diminishing to pre-crisis
levels. Even when governments do not exercise new authorities after a
crisis ends, it becomes easier to return to using them once they’re
granted.
Suspending student loan payments and banning evicting tenants are two
striking examples of the Covid-19 pandemic’s ratchet effect. But they
are far from the only examples.
President Trump issued 76 executive orders during the pandemic. President Biden passed 77 in 2021. Both are records and dwarf previous annual totals. Some public schools continue to shut down or provide distance learning days multiple times a week without budgetary reductions. Once rare and contested, trillion-dollar federal spending bills are now proposed and supported. President Biden reenacted several travel restrictions for US citizens well before much was known about the Omicron variant with little pushback.
With multiple variants adapting to currently available vaccines, many
medical professionals believe Covid-19 will eventually become endemic –
becoming part of life with little hope of eradication. Sadly,
government power gained during a crisis is similar, and there is no vaccine for the ratchet effect.

It’s obviously not easy to give up fear of Covid-19, to judge from a recent survey showing that the vaccinated are actually more frightened than the unvaccinated. Another survey found that most Democratic voters are so worried that they want to make it illegal
for the unvaccinated to leave home. But before you don another mask or
disinfect another surface, before you cheer on politicians and school
officials enforcing mandates, consider your odds of a fatal Covid case
once you’ve been vaccinated.
Those odds can be gauged from a study
by researchers at the National Institutes of Health, published by the
Centers for Disease Control. They tracked more than 1 million vaccinated
adults in America over most of last year, including the period when the
Delta variant was surging, and classified victims of Covid according to
risk factors such as being over 65, being immunosuppressed, or
suffering from diabetes or chronic diseases of the heart, kidney, lungs,
liver or brain.
The researchers report that none of the healthy people under 65 had a
severe case of Covid that required treatment in an intensive-care unit.
Not a single one of these nearly 700,000 people died, and the risk was minuscule for most older people, too. Among vaccinated people over 65
without an underlying medical condition, only one person died. In all,
there were 36 deaths, mostly among a small minority of older people with
a multitude of comorbidities: the 3 percent of the sample that had at
least four risk factors. Among everyone else, a group that included
elderly people with one or two chronic conditions, there were just eight
deaths among more than 1.2 million people, so their risk of dying was
about 1 in 150,000.
Those are roughly the same odds
that in the course of a year you will die in a fire, or that you’ll
perish by falling down stairs. Going anywhere near automobiles is a
bigger risk: you’re three times more likely during a given year to be
killed while riding in a car, and also three times more likely to be a
pedestrian casualty. The 150,000-to-1 odds of a Covid death are even
longer than the odds over your lifetime of dying in an earthquake or

Two years ago when the
news of COVID engulfed the nation we all donned whatever masky device we
could rig and ventured forth to stock up on toilet paper. We heard, to
our dismay, that some jobs were essential and some weren’t, but we
bought into that. It all seemed otherworldly, 1984-ish, and
scary. Then, after just a few weeks, the news of Hydroxychlorquine and
Ivermectin started to surface and the crisis seemed manageable. Whew! I
thought. Thank you, God, for providing such a timely discovery; we’ll be
able to dodge this bullet. I had failed to realize what bullet was
racing toward us.
For,
despite evident cures, the lockdowns continued. The masks -- soon shown
to be useless -- not only stayed on our faces, but became religious
icons, virtue-signaling devices. We stopped striking up conversations
with strangers. Our kids sat, hour after hour, day after day, in front
of computer screens that presented to them the bare minimum of an
education -- if that. We quit going to the movies. ”Out to eat” became
just that -- out in the cold on make-shift patios. No parties. No
church. No jobs........
Fauci kept adding layers to our masks, which we knew didn’t work, and he
still kept his job.
He’s still pushing both masks and the vaccines,
neither do much good, both do a lot of harm, and still he keeps his job.

A COVID-19 testing company faked test results and didn’t have licenses to operate testing sites, according to a new lawsuit. The Center for COVID Control claimed to provide COVID-19 tests throughout Washington state
for free and promised to provide results within 48 hours. But in

Joe Biden claims this is
a pandemic of the unvaccinated and wants everyone in the world vaxxed
with the “safe and effective” vaccines. In addition, he plans to
distribute millions of "effective" N-95 masks. Anyone paying attention
knows this a big lie. Masks may be a comforting placebo, but even the
N95s don’t work as advertised. And new revelations about dangerous vaccine side effects have surfaced despite media suppression.
New Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin made
mask and vaccinations optional for state employees and public schools.
Immediately some parents, teachers and school boards threw a hissy fit
(at least seven lawsuits have resulted so far). Meanwhile, those who

As we examine the mess the Biden
administration and the Democrats have made since the 2020 election, we
are seeing a massive death rate rise among working-age people.
Every day I scour the news, looking for trends. What I am seeing more
and more are reports of death and sickness among the very young and
middle age. Athletes, pro and amateur, celebrities, school-age and
pre-school children, being reported as dying days or weeks after the
COVID shot. The words I see the most in the reporting is ‘died
unexpectedly’.

increase of 65%, only 36% attributed to COVID.
The head of an Indianapolis-based insurance company, OneAmerica, said
the death rate is up a stunning 40% from pre-pandemic levels among
working-age people 18 - 64. Their CEO has said, “Just to give you an
idea of how bad that is, a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be a 10%
increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.” Who
knows more about an increase in the death rate than a life insurance
company?
A 3-year-old girl dies ‘unexpectedly’ of a heart attack a day after
receiving a COVID shot. We are seeing deaths of 15 and 16 year old boys
and girls.
Over the holiday season, Franklin Graham developed pericarditis
(inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart). He underwent heart
surgery after aggressively pushing the jab. Pericarditis is not an
uncommon condition among those who received the vaccine. Franklin’s
niece, Rachel-Ruth, several days ago suffered two heart attacks. What
are the chances that the Graham family all took the COVID shots?
Eminent physicians and scientists have warned that the COVID vaccines
can exacerbate any condition the person may have, aware of or not…
cancer, heart conditions, neurological, vascular, etc. Also,
anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction may occur. Independent studies
have shown that deaths related to the vaccine have been vastly
under-reported and in many cases an outright lie perpetrated by the FDA
and the CDC. To anyone paying attention, this should not be of any

correspondent hoped to have this retrospective completed by the start of
the New Year, but a tussle with omicron intervened. Nevertheless, it
