Cindy McCain Believes Character Counts! Remarkable!

Cindy McCain says character counts, and has recently come out talking about the importance of having a President with "character", so she's supporting Joe Biden! Imagine that. 

The implication is that Biden, and the McCain's, were exemplars of good character, while Trump is the prime example of bad character, thus disqualifying him for the Presidency. Okay, he's certainly had his character issues, no one can dispute that, but Cindy McCain calling anyone's character into issue is really rich, so, let's explore this.

One of the things I've never weighed in on was all the talk about how John McCain conducted himself while a prisoner of war, and for two reasons. First, the reports were all conflicting. Some prisoners called him a hero, and others said otherwise. Secondly, I find it difficult to judge prisoners of war for what they might have done. Unless there's very real and incontrovertible proof of vile and treasonous behavior by a prisoner, the idea that those sitting comfortably in their easy chairs have the right to judge men who suffered as POW's, and were made to suffer horribly at times, just isn't right.

So, in spite of the contempt I've felt for McCain, I've never taken a condemnatory stand on that. Especially since there were plenty of legitimate reasons to despise McCain. But one thing bothered me about all that. Why was it necessary to seal his military records? Permanently? And as I understand it this was done by sealing all the records of POW's, including those left behind.

John McCain, who has risen to political prominence on his image as a Vietnam POW war hero, has, inexplicably, worked very hard to hide from the public stunning information about American prisoners in Vietnam who, unlike him, didn't return home.  Throughout his Senate career, McCain has quietly sponsored and pushed into federal law a set of prohibitions that keep the most revealing information about these men buried as classified documents.  Thus the war hero who people would logically imagine as a determined crusader for the interests of POWs and their families became instead the strange champion of hiding the evidence and closing the books...............

He browbeat expert witnesses who came with information about unreturned POWs.  Family members who have personally faced McCain and pressed him to end the secrecy also have been treated to his legendary temper.  He has screamed at them, insulted them, brought women to tears.  Mostly his responses to them have been versions of: How dare you question my patriotism?  In 1996, he roughly pushed aside a group of POW family members who had waited outside a hearing room to appeal to him, including a mother in a wheelchair.

Yet Cindy McCain had the nerve to tell the world her dead husband would have been disappointed at the Republican base, who he called "crazies" and "whacko birds", for supporting Donald Trump.  This is a man who secretly pressed the IRS, to go after conservative groups, "including then-director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner", in order to financially ruin these conservative groups with audits and even arrests.  

Yes, character counts, and that is true testimony to John McCain's character.  All of which must bring her character into question.  Why?  Here's the back story on the character of John McCain, Cindy McCain, and the character of the man she supports for President, Joe Biden.  

On September 29, 2023, Daniel Greenfield published this article, Biden Takes Credit for Encouraging McCain to Cheat on His Disabled Wife, saying:

This is the exciting new decency is it? Biden gave his latest “everyone who disagrees with me is a threat to democracy” speech in Arizona to “honor the legacy of Senator John McCain”.

Biden then goes on to explain how he "was actually encouraging McCain to cheat on his wife who was sick and had lost her looks."  He went on to explain how McCain's first wife had an automobile accident that just about destroyed her body.   Surgeons were "forced to cut away huge sections of shattered bone, taking with it her tall, willowy figure. She was confined to a wheelchair and was forced to use a catheter."

Yet Biden, knowing all this, "sent in his wife to help get Cindy and John together. What kind of man sends in his wife to encourage another man to cheat on his disabled wife? A Joe Biden."

Greenfield cuts to the chase saying:

All of this may be ancient history, but it matters because Cindy McCain is now acting like the guardian of some sort of legacy of decency within the GOP, when she’s actually a homewrecker who colluded with Biden. Biden and Cindy McCain aren’t the guardians of decency, but the most indecent people around............Biden and McCain did have something in common. They both cheated on their wives and lied about it.  So you can see why Jill and Cindy get along so well.

It's always amazed me how John McCain and John Glenn managed to keep their seats in the Senate after the Keating Five scandal.  Glenn and McCain, both career military, both tarnished icons, with John Glenn retiring as a very wealthy man.   I can remember reading many years ago Glenn was, after retiring from the military, worth $400,000.  Then, after 8 years in the Senate he was one of the richest men in the Senate.  How did that happen? 

As for McCain, he has been largely self-serving and contemptible, as the New Phoenix Times reported at the time McCain was the "guiltiest, most culpable, most reprehensible of the Keating Five".  Nothing changed!  McCain had been irresponsible and spoiled his whole pre-POW life, and totally contemptible in his post-POW political life.  

What I can't help but wonder about is why anyone cares what Cindy McCain, or the rest of the McCain family thinks.  But, then again, this is Arizona, the state that kept electing McCain, who was a nasty vindictive man right to the very end.  A man who over and over again betrayed every conservative principle he ran on, his fellow Republicans, and America, and yet Cindy McCain and Joe Biden think Trump lacks the character to be President.

I was 13 Months Old When I Was Killed By Two Black “Children”! What’s My Name?

Editor's Note:  The murder of this child, who was only 13 months old, occurred on March 21, 2013.  I had intended to re-run this piece in March but failed to do so as so much is going on.  I wanted to do it because now this baby would be eleven years old. I found this whole story heartbreaking. I originally published this on July, 21, 2013, and again on June 12, 2021, and discussed it in Tell Me Their Names!, and republished that article again Here, and Here, and I intend to run it again, and again, so no one will forget this child's name.   RK

If you believe all the blather by the main stream media, Democrats, leftists, etc. about race in America,  you believe the police are leaving their stations on daily hunting trips to kill poor innocent blacks, for no other reason than they're black.   However, if you actually believe in facts, then the story of who the perpetrators of  murder, crime and violence in black America is substantially different.  

Let's start with right now and move back in time. 

I hadn't posted much about the Trayvon Martin/Zimmerman case, and all the surrounding noise being made by the race baiters, leftists and a president who is a disgrace, because it was covered intensely by just about everyone.  

Then we had a president who takes a 100 million dollar vacation to Africa, at tax payers expense, with his family to try and take focus off of himself and all the scandals in his administration.  He then comes home and declares the Zimmerman verdict an indictment of white America; telling everyone how hard it was to be an un-trusted black man in America in his youth, inciting more racial animus.

Poor baby, he wasn't trusted - then he became president - as a result his actions demonstrate the quality of his character, and that character demonstrates he shouldn’t have been trusted.   

 The media and the left is always bloated with self righteous moral outrage when a black criminal thug is fighting with the police and gets killed.  Worse yet, we see them calling some of these black thugs and criminals “children”.  That has gotten under my skin.

Now all of a sudden Trayvon was a “child”!  Legally he was a minor, that's true, but he wasn’t a child, except to idiots, race baiters, leftists and celebrities like Richard Dreyfus who declared:

 "It’s 2013 and an American jury just acquitted a man who admitted to stalking and killing an unarmed child". 

Martin was a strapping six footer, and he was aggressive.  Did Zimmerman shoot him before Martin attacked him?  No!  Also, Zimmerman didn’t stalk him, he followed him.   If he was such a “child”, we have to wonder what would possess a “child” to attack an adult?   Would you turn around and attack someone who was following you, or would you call the police?  He wasn’t concerned about attacking Zimmerman because Trayvon wasn’t a “child”.  He was bigger than Zimmerman and so he was comfortable in attacking a smaller man.  

Nor was Martin the innocent as he was portrayed by a corrupt disgraceful media, and as far as I can tell, the question as to what he was doing in that neighborhood in the first place has never been answered.  Admittedly we have to right to go where we please in America, but Americans have the right to know why you're in their neighborhood, and what you're doing there.

Along with Dreyfus, another new member of the Club For the Galacticly Stupid, John Cusak, says:

"unarmed teenagers have a right to public space – without owning armed citizens any explanation as to their equal right to the sidewalk — "

Admittedly, we have the right to go where we please, but there are neighborhoods in Cleveland where my presence would be questioned if I was just wandering around, and rightly so.   The Constitution isn’t a suicide pact.  People in a neighborhood have every right to know what strangers are doing around their homes.  People go places because they have a purpose.  What was Trayvon's  purpose in being there?  Furthermore, if it was all innocent why didn’t he just call the police if he was concerned? 

So how does the rest of the Club For the Galacticly Stupid react?  Russell Simmons, music producer said:

"This is not only” about race. This is about laws that allow racist acts to go unpunished. We must change laws that promote injustice”.   

These brilliant thoughts must be his belated views about the O.J. trial. 

Rapper Talib Kweli intones:

 "The way this Zimmerman case divides us shows how far we still have to go as a country."   

I wonder if he was reflecting back to the L.A. riots when a young black crowd - who was filmed - pulling a white truck driver out of his truck, threw him to the ground, and then bashed his head with a heavy object.  All of whom were found innocent.  That must have been what he was thinking of. 

Right?

And then we have that great mental giant, Miley Cyrus, who declares:

No justice; no peace.  

Wow!  Were we to assume that Miley was going to riot?  Well Miley didn't have to worry, that was  already being taken care of.  And the list for all the new members for the Club For the Galacticly Stupid can be found here, along with pictures of rioting and insane behavior promoted by race hustlers.   

Let's add John McCain to that list:

On Sunday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) appeared on CNN’s State of the Union, where he called President Obama’s Friday comments on Trayvon Martin and race “very impressive.” He said, “I think we should continue to make progress,” but added that “we still have a long way to go,” even as he declined to “second guess” the verdict in the George Zimmerman case.

 John McCain was an everlasting disgrace.  That's his legacy!

In East Cleveland, Ohio, Anthony Sowell, a black man wandering around a black community was raping and murdering young black women. 

"Sowell was charged with eleven counts of aggravated murder and 74 counts of rape, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but later changed his plea to simply "not guilty."  On July 22, 2011, he was convicted on all but two counts, including the murders of the eleven women whose bodies were found in his house in 2009.

Didn't people in that community have the right to know who he was and what he was doing there?  

But here's the story you most likely never heard about, and most definitely did not hear one word from any of these disgraceful people about that thirteen month old white child, a real child, who was deliberately murdered by two black “children”, at least by the left’s current definition of "children". 

How old were these black “children” who attempted to rob a poor woman and then murder her 13 month old child? 

The oldest of these two murderous "children" was identified as De'Marquise Elkins, 17, and  the other “child”was Dominique Lang 14 at the time.  Both of these "children" were charged with first degree murder and tried as adults.  

And try and get this right.  This "child", De'Marquise Elkins, was nothing but a cold and brutal thug.  Just ten days before he murdered this 13 month old child, "he attempted to rob a pastor named Wilfredo Calix-Flores on March 11, 2013, at the pastor's church in Brunswick. Elkins and two accomplices pointed a pistol at Calix-Flores and demanded his cell phone and money. Because the pastor did not have anything to give them, they shot him." 

That's who the left, race baiters and the Hollywood trash are calling a "child".

Here's the story, and it's a story that needs telling regularly, which I've done for the since 2013, and this was just about as cold as it can get.

The mother reported:

"A boy approached me and told me he wanted my money, and I told him I didn't have any money. "And he said, 'Give me your money or I'm going to kill you and I'm going to shoot your baby and kill your baby,' and I said, 'I don't have any money,' and 'Don't kill my baby.'"

When he tried to take her purse he shot her twice; once, grazing her in the head and then in the leg, “then, all of a sudden, he walked over and he shot my baby in the face." 

He shot a 13 month old baby in the face because a poor white woman had no money he could steal. 

“This child did nothing to him. He was innocent and helpless”.  

Now that’s cold blooded murder, and not one of these race hustlers or celebrity idiots has said a thing!

Everyone knows the names of Trayvon Martin, George Floyd and Michael Brown, all of whom were thugs and criminals.  But no one knows the name of that poor 13 month old child. 

 Do you doubt that?  Then tell me without looking it up: What was this poor child’s name?

 

His name was Antonio Santiago, and "His first word was never heard. His first sentence was never said, he never got to sleep in a toddler bed."

As a follow up:  Did De'Marquise Elkins feel regret for what he's done?  No!  He actually taunted police over their lack of evidence.  

 ‘Y’all ain’t got - - on me. Y’all ain’t got no gun. Y’all ain’t got no fingerprints. All y’all got is a - - acquittal,". 

But they had the gun, which family members tried to hide and were sentenced to prison for concealing evidence.   Both of these "children" were sentenced to prison.  Elkins got life without parole.  And here's a later outrage  His defenders tried to put the blame on Antonio Santiago's mother demanding they both be released. 

The enablers and perpetrators of this racial criminal mentality is a stench that permeates the left and black America. It's a sickness that's destroying the nation. 

Morning Greatness: Christopher Steele Used John McCain to Spread Dossier Nonsense

Steele had been dumped by the FBI when McCain picked up the reports. The best part is that McCain did this after Trump was elected. What did he think would happen?

The IG report discloses that McCain gave five new Steele reports to Comey that the FBI did not previously possess, showing that McCain served as a conduit for Steele’s information to reach the FBI even after the British ex-spy was formally cut off as an FBI source........To Read More....

My Take - And we're surprised why? John McCain was a vicious corrupt man, and remained that way on his death bed. The picture in the article certainly fits!!!

Mitt Romney: John McCain reprised

In a tweet, President Trump famously said that if Ilhan Omar doesn't like America, she can go back where she came from.  Followers immediately started chanting, "Send her back!" in the way they once chanted, "Lock her up!" about another vicious, ugly female lefty officeholder.

The Left came unglued, and so did Mitt Romney.  Mitt finds the new chant offensive, you see, and immediately blamed Donald Trump.  Perhaps, curiously, Mitt found nothing offensive in anything Ilhan Omar had said, but then he probably also finds nothing objectionable in her character as he does in the Trump character.

Making ordinary sense of Mitt Romney is a fool's errand. Nobody can make sense of Mitt Romney. He interviewed to be Donald Trump's secretary of state, then promptly went to Europe and spoke ill of the president. He published a scathing editorial about Trump in the Wall Street Journal. He claims to be Republican but has done his best to obstruct the Trump agenda........To Read More....

My Take - History is making a mess of the media's Kennedy Camelot narrative, and that includes the rest of the clan, especially Teddy.  The media is still trying to twist that history in his favor, which has become impossible now.  Worse yet for the Kennedy mob, time is against them. 

History will destroy McCain, because he just couldn't stop being the vile and vindictive creature he was right up until his death. 

And then there's Romney.  History will not be kind to him either.  History and reality will end Romney's influence as more and more information becomes available about RINO's in American politics.  Much of which seems almost Machiavellian.  Schemers, liars, deceivers, all claiming to be conservatives, yet all the while working what is obscene in the background.

I'm convinced there was something wrong with the minds of both Kennedy and McCain, and we know their character was far from exemplary, and one might easily say, flawed, especially Teddy.  As far as Romney goes, I really think there's something wrong with Romney's mind and his character also.  I really agree with the author when he says, " Making ordinary sense of Mitt Romney is a fool's errand." 

Yet, I keep asking: What does he hope to gain?  He will never be President of the United States.  That train has left the depot!  Does he believe otherwise?  The same is true for John Kasich.  Both of whom claim to be conservatives, and religious ones at that.  Kasich's view about conservatism is he "can define conservatism as he sees fit", which in his case was a lot like leftism. 

There was a reason Obama said America needs more governors like Kasich.  There has to be something wrong with their minds.  I've met Kasich, and I can say this with absolute certainty, he suffers from a serious case of weird compounded by a massive infection of hubris. 

Romney may be better mannered than Kasich, which doesn't require a whole lot of work or effort, but he's clearly weird, and he must be arrogant to the point of lunacy, otherwise he wouldn't be acting the way he does. 

Media Ignores Major Story About the Dossier—Again

Explosive details in the deposition, released to the public on March 14 on order by a Florida district court, reveal how Kramer and McCain distributed the infamous Steele dossier to the media, the FBI, and Republican lawmakers after the November 2016 election. It’s now a harsh fact that one of Trump’s most powerful foes on Capitol Hill worked in tandem with Democratic schemers to discredit his election.

This is not inconsequential news. Further, McCain and Kramer’s handling of the still-unverified dossier authored by Christopher Steele, a British political operative, and peddled by Glenn Simpson, an influential Washington consultant who being was paid by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, is only one part of the story. My Take - This week I read an article by former Senator Lieberman who defended McCain against Trump's recent attacks on McCain.  His defence?  He was a war hero who suffered terribly at the hands of his captors  That's not an excuse for his actions afterward, and the virulent, vindictive, and even corrupt actions of McCain all during his Senate career. 

I've not attacked him on his record as a POW for three reasons:

• I wasn't there. 
• He's managed to get his records sealed so no one really know what happened, making any claims speculation.
• I don't like it when people who never suffered at the hands of guards in a POW camp shooting off their mouths.  We have no idea what these men went through, and unless there's actual evidence of serious misbehavior, we need to shut our mouths. 

Having said that, having once been a hero, and I will call him a hero, that isn't a pass on the rest of life. 

For the rest of his life I've found him to be largely despicable.  He's been a vicious, vindictive backstabber right up until his death.  And yet the media and the left attack Trump for defending himself against his death bed nastiness by pointing out what a despicable person he was.  And he's right to keep pointing out the facts about McCain and his involvement regarding the Steele Dossier.  The fact he's dead doesn't change what he did, or the consequences of those actions. 

Just like Teddy Kennedy, history will not be kind to John McCain.  A seriously flawed one time hero!

Should We Cut John McCain Slack Because He Served in the Military?

A hugely powerful and respected Senator — himself a presidential candidate in 2008 — abused his legal power and influence to subvert the will of the voters who wanted to elect Donald Trump president.

Are these the actions of a hero?............John McCain may have been a good guy at one time. I honestly don’t know. And I really don’t care, either. All I know is he became just another career politician. He used his power to enact political speech censorship (his McCain-Feingold law). He later broke his promise to repeal Obamacare (because of his personal dislike of President Trump). And now we learn of this even worse behavior of trying to subvert American voters. Romney may have thought he was calling attention to Trump's character defects, but all he accomplished, even if unwittingly, was to raise the ire of conservatives and remind them of the rank and manifest stupidity of former leaders of the party Establishment. Romney's attack also provided Republican voters an occasion for self-congratulation on the decision to banish witless Republicans like Romney to the hinterlands during the last election.

Romney exhibited one of the most emblematic and unforgiving characteristics of the Old Guard of the party: playing the role of useful idiots for the Democratic Party and its wholly owned subsidiary, the mainstream media. Sweet revenge on the McCains: Martha McSally to take the old man's Senate seat

Martha McSally was not a perfect Republican candidate for Senate, and her inability to win an election against an utterly revolting and gaffe-prone leftist such as Kyrsten Sinema in a place like Arizona (which, at least on paper, doesn't permit ballot harvesting) doesn't speak all that well for her.
But the choice of McSally to fill the unfinished Senate term of Sen. John McCain by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey was sweet news indeed.

That's because the loud opposition to her from the McCain family was so very bad, and this appointment stands as a rebuke to them.  Better still, now that McSally's got the job over their objections, she owes them nothing. Here was theWashington Examiner story four days ago:

Meghan McCain's husband said that Rep. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., would be an "unwise choice" for Arizona senator.  "McSally strikes me as an unwise choice for a number of reasons," Ben Domenech tweeted."She's like an NFL team that plays down to its opponents' level – and she'll be tasked with running for re-election immediately."

He made a tweet, and his wife, McCain's daughter Meghan, retweeted it. Then McSally went to try to make nice with the dragon-lady matron of the bunch, Cindy McCain, but things didn't seem to get any better, though officially they say so, minus their endorsement, of course.

The whole thing was over something embarrassingly small and petty, too: McSally's "crime" in their eyes was that she didn't bring McCain's name up in a speech on some defense authorization bill.

Whoa! That was enough to turn this touchy bunch entirely against the woman, who had actually been a friend of McCain's, and then they got loud about it...

Media Obituaries Didn’t Give Us ‘The Full McCain’

The sugary praise, often from former critics, does his memory no favors.

The past week has featured so much extravagant praise of John McCain that Jill Abramson, the former editor of the New York Times, had to admit “McCain would cringe over some of the glowing tributes pouring in.”

Take this example from The New Yorker:

In death, McCain had finally become one with the country that was the object of his deepest faith, and any praise lavished on him, during the funeral proceedings or at any point afterward, would redound to the greater glory of America.

...............Many commenters rightly criticized President Trump’s churlishness toward John McCain. (Editor's Note:  For the record, I disagree.  McCain got what he deserved from Trump, and everything he says in this article makes that clear.  RK)  But when it was revealed that Sarah Palin, his 2008 vice-presidential running mate — who has never said a negative word about McCain and indeed expressed only gratitude toward him — was being excluded from his funeral and memorial services, the same pundits were silent. Noticing the public rebuke of Palin would have interrupted the narrative of John McCain as an example of what’s best and noble in our politics.

Dana Milbank of the Washington Post led the parade of puffery earlier this year when he declared McCain “the single greatest political leader of our time.” He followed up this week by declaring that McCain “never forgot that political opponents are not his enemies, and that there are things more important than winning elections.”

Even those who view McCain in iconic terms would find that statement preposterous..........To Read More....

The Circus Has Left Town, But the Stink Remains

On September 3, 2018 DH Butler posted the article, Is It Over Yet?, saying:

There’s a huge difference between the solemn, sorrowful citizens who lined the streets to say good-bye to Ronald Reagan, John Kennedy, and FDR and the rubberneckers hoping to catch a glimpse of celebrity politicians putting in a public appearance for the late Senator McCain’s multiple memorials............ John McCain may have been dear to a few people, but for the rest of us (and most likely 99% of the people invited to be part of his ostentatious Display of the Dead), he remains a clear and present exemplar of a petty plutocracy and blatant self-service...............Others, disgusted by the “political theatrics and cheap shots” recognized her father’s signature spitefulness -- nasty to the end and beyond......... An insatiably vindictive man, his equally malicious family, and all those eager to participate in a six-minute trash-talk tribute have radically transformed one of the last public opportunities to share our humanity..............

When it was announced McCain had an incurable cancer I posted some comments about it, but decided not to say much about him when he finally died, in spite of my personal distaste for the man, and I'm willing to bet most of those who've spoken out now felt the same.  Attacking a dying man lacks grace and dignity.

 But McCain just couldn't go out gracefully.

He made nasty remarks about people right up to the end. When people retorted they were eviscerated for daring to say anything back against a dying hero who was unbelievably disrespectful of others.

What kind of person does that at the end of their life? Is all this vindictiveness a sign of a guilty conscience, much like Ted Kennedy? 

Most dying people wish to spend their last days as peacefully as possible. Not McCain! His spiteful vicious character was evident until the end. We’re told he planned his funeral, so it must be obvious this was a deliberate effort to turn this it into a political circus with the help of his family and political cronies as an attack on Trump. Cronies who are the same kind of swamp creatures as was John McCain.

Now there are all sorts of claims about how badly Trump handled the funeral, and it’s claimed Melania is embarrassed by her husband's response to all of this, all claimed by "insiders". Now there are claims he wasn’t banned from the funeral. Really?  Then why didn’t McCain’s family come out days in advance and say those media reports were wrong and he and his family were more than welcome.  But it all makes sense when you hear Obama saying at the funeral “When all was said and done, we were on the same team.” Well, most Americans get that!

This whole funeral circus was a national embarrassment, and Trump handled this as gracefully as anyone could have under these circumstances.

Fortunately for John McCain I’m not the President of the United States. Because I would have forced the full release of John McCain's military records, which McCain refused to do and made a matter of law to seal them forever.
 
What was released before didn’t not make McCain look like a hero, and the same can be said about his father. As one writer said: "John McCain is one of the best cases against military ‘nepotism’ in American history".

As for his POW records:

“Critics say his anti-disclosure campaign, in close cooperation with the Pentagon and the intelligence community, has been successful. Literally thousands of documents that would otherwise have been declassified long ago have been legislated into secrecy. For example, all the Pentagon debriefings of the prisoners who returned from Vietnam are now classified and closed to the public under a statute enacted in the 1990s with McCain’s backing. He says this is to protect the privacy of former POWs and gives it as his reason for not making public his own debriefing.”

This also prevented information being released about POW's who may have been left behind.  All this from the "Straight Talk Express" candidate.  I've said in the past I'm willing to accept his hero status as a POW because arm chair critics can't begin to fathom what a POW goes through, and his unwillingness to be released early as a propaganda ploy by the Communists is heroism

However, I have to believe that declassifying these records fall under the President's purview, irrespective of any legislation to the contrary. One thing for sure though. The President of the United States has access to any and all classified or secured documents, and could view them himself.  

If I were Trump I would make a point of reviewing those records, and,  I would let it be known I’d done so.  And then sit quietly back.

My Take - I've said history will not be kind to John McCain, and this is just one small segment of his history and one thing is clear as a bell.  He makes things up to make himself look good, irrespective of the facts.  Time and history isn't on his side.

Truth is the sublime convergence of history and reality.  Everything we're told has an historical foundation and context.  Everything we're told should bear some relationship with what we're seeing going on in reality.  If what's presented to us fails in either of those categories, it's wrong.  And McCain's presentation of his history, military and civilian, doesn't bode well in the category of truth.

I can't think of anything more spiteful or "mean-spirited" than the exclusion of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin from the funeral of the late Sen. John McCain.

According to Breitbart News, not only was she not asked to come to any of the numerous McCain events where she could have been present, but she was actually asked to stay away.

Since the Breitbart report, the McCain camp has backtracked a bit and now says Sarah would not be bounced by the security guard at the door if she actually came. According to People Magazine, the exclusion of this woman, who was so significant in the career of John McCain, was the decision of Cindy McCain, not John McCain. But its sourcing was anonymous, and that sounds like a possible attempt to paper over a public relations disaster, which would tell us that that is what it is, a black mark on McCain, who, up until now, has been drawing a lot of praise......

Judicial Watch Obtains IRS Documents Revealing McCain’s Subcommittee Staff Director Urged IRS to Engage in “Financially Ruinous” Targeting

Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen. John McCain’s former staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee, Henry Kerner, urged top IRS officials, including then-director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner, to “audit so many that it becomes financially ruinous.”  Kerner was appointed by President Trump as Special Counsel for the United States Office of Special Counsel.
The explosive exchange was contained in notes taken by IRS employees at an April 30, 2013, meeting between Kerner, Lerner, and other high-ranking IRS officials. Just ten days following the meeting, former IRS director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner admitted that the IRS had a policy of improperly and deliberately delaying applications for tax-exempt status from conservative non-profit groups.

Lerner and other IRS officials met with select top staffers from the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee in a “marathon” meeting to discuss concerns raised by both Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) that the IRS was not reining in political advocacy groups in response to the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision.  Senator McCain had been the chief sponsor of the McCain-Feingold Act and called the Citizens United decision, which overturned portions of the Act, one of the “worst decisions I have ever seen.”

In the full notes of an April 30 meeting, McCain’s high-ranking staffer Kerner recommends harassing non-profit groups until they are unable to continue operating. Kerner tells Lerner, Steve Miller, then chief of staff to IRS commissioner, Nikole Flax, and other IRS officials, “Maybe the solution is to audit so many that it is financially ruinous.” In response, Lerner responded that “it is her job to oversee it all:”...................

The McCain Guest List! Do You Really Care? Does it Really Matter?

Yesterday Eliana Johnson  posted this article, "Top 2008 campaign aides shut out of McCain funeral" saying:

"Campaign manager Steve Schmidt, senior adviser Nicolle Wallace, and longtime strategist John Weaver were snubbed, as was former running mate Sarah Palin.  John McCain’s funeral will spotlight some of the late senator’s political rivals – but some of his closest campaign aides are being excluded from the proceedings.   Three of the most prominent members of his 2008 presidential campaign – campaign manager Steve Schmidt, senior adviser Nicolle Wallace, and longtime strategist John Weaver — were not invited to any of McCain’s services, according to three people familiar with the guest list."

My 93 year old mother uses a phrase I think fits this story: "This falls under the category of who gives a s..."!    And I agree! 

The author missed the real significance of all of this.  The real story about these former aides isn't who was invited, who was left out, who was told not to come, what they did, what they said to whom or about what.  The real story about these three former uninvited campaign aides is this:

"All three former McCain advisers are now affiliated with MSNBC."

Because the real story is about the actual character of John McCain!

Are we're to believe McCain hired people to get him elected President of the United States whose personal political views were philosophically antithetical to his own?  This is the real story, and this was the real McCain, and the real reason he lost the election.    People seem to forget it was reported an estimated  five to six million conservatives absolutely refused to vote for him.  Why?  Conservatives knew him for who he really was, and the rest of the country isn't Arizona. 

I'm willing to acknowledge hero status for his service, irrespective of all the counter claims, but having once been a hero doesn't give someone a pass on the rest of life.  And for most of his life I found him to be corrupt (Try the Lincoln Savings and Loan scandal, where the Phoenix New Times referred to him as the McCain: The Most Reprehensible of the Keating Five), vindictive, (Did Sarah Palin really deserve that, a must read article by Monica Showalter.) ungrateful, self serving, deceptive and untrustworthy, and many of those who are slobbering all over themselves to praise him now felt the same way, on both sides of the aisle.  Many of those who vilified him during his political career are now vilifying Trump for not slobbering over himself as they've done.  What they should be doing is praising Trump for being gracious about a man he most likely despised.

Trump saying, "My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain.  Our hearts and prayers are with you!", wasn't enough.  Flying the flag at half staff according the the protocol of the "1954 proclamation by then President Eisenhower" wasn't enough.    Not showing up at the funeral in spite of McCain's request he not attend wasn't the right thing to do.

It's clear no matter what Trump did it wasn't going to be enough to appease these hypocrites. 

Slobbering and absolute obeisance to the, "John McCain was the greatest American to have ever lived myth", was now called for, and demanded by these hypocrites.  And make no mistake about this - if he had done that they would have gleefully called him a hypocrite and would have claimed that was proof he wasn't worthy of the Presidency. 

The hypocrisy by the media and political cowards over McCain's life and death is gaggable, and now he will pass off into history - and I hope everyone will remember I said this.  The circus has left town, and history will not be kind to John McCain!   Not any more than it's been kind to Ted Kennedy.

My Take - This whole clabber about Trump becoming a dictator by suppressing the press is a logical fallacy.  Trump has browbeat the press and it must be working because they never stop talking about it, and before this term is over they'll be whipped into place.  But he's done nothing to "oppress" the press, and that "dictator" comment is another logical fallacy. 

And Trump is right.  The media is dangerous to the nation.  The media is - overall - largely anti-gun, anti-Christian, anti-capitalism and anti-America, but they never saw a wacko left wing philosophy they didn't love.  If they can dish it out they've got to learn to take it. 

As for McCain - he's a disgrace and has been for years.  I fear most have forgotten his part in the Lincoln Savings and Loan scandal and the Keating Five.  What I wonder about is what's wrong with the minds of the people of Arizona who keep on electing him.  McCain is a old fool that never saw a microphone or a camera he didn't love, and since this most likely is his last term as - he will be 86 when this term is over - he will say and do things that are going to shock everyone. 

Having once been a hero doesn't give you a pass on the rest of life. 

John McCain’s Failed Second Act

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s dictum about no second acts in American life is only partially true. There are second acts, but those that fail to live up to the promise of the first are far more interesting.

An assessment of John McCain’s political career suggests that the Senator from Arizona squandered the immense capital of his five and a half years of bravery and integrity while a captive in Viet Nam.

McCain’s earlier career reminds one of George Armstrong Custer, another “maverick” whose reckless audacity won him plaudits during the Civil War, but ended in failure at the Little Big Horn.

McCain was an indifferent student at the Naval Academy, and at times a careless pilot. During flight training he dumped a jet in Corpus Christi Bay, and while flying too low in Spain took out some power lines. My Take - Let's be clear.....the jury is still out on his first act.  Those who were there all tell different stories about McCain when his was a POW.  Some praise and honor him and others villify his actions, and I don't know why.  What would an investigator make of that? 

McCain is a strange man.  It's been said one of the most dangerous places in the world is standing between him and a camera.  I wonder what would happen if he, Schumer, Pelosi and Maxine were running to be in front of the same camera?  

I don't know what happened when he was a POW, and I for one won't criticize what he did there because being a POW has to be mind numbing, and those poor souls are so easily manipulated and bullied into actions they wouldn't normally do.  So, stay at home arm chair critics of those men need to walk cautiously.  I'm willing to give him a pass on all of that, but one thing bothers me.  Why was it necessary to seal his military records.....permanently? 

We need to get this - having once been a hero doesn't give you a pass on the rest of life.  How corrupt has McCain been in his life?  It's always amazed me how he and John Glenn managed to keep their seats in the Senate after the Keating Five scandal.  Glenn and McCain - career military - and tarnished icons.  Glenn retired very wealthy. 

I can remember reading many years ago Glenn was - after retiring from the military - worth $400,000.  After 8 years in the Senate he was one of the richest men in the Senate.  How did that happen?  As for McCain - he's has been largely self-serving and contemptible ever since his hero days...... as the New Phoenix Times reported at the time - McCain was the "guiltiest, most culpable, most reprehensible of the Keating Five". .....nothing changed!

McCain has been irresponsible and spoiled in his pre-POW life and totally contemptible in his post-POW political life.  Maybe what happened in his POW life may be extrapolated from that and maybe not, so let's just dwell on what we know. 

I've watched this play out and watched people who should know better praise this man when they should have been condemning him.   But being a hero doesn't give you a pass on the rest of life.  What he's done for all of his post hero days - at least in my mind - is far more descriptive or who and what John McCain is than his war record.

In the parts of his life we know, he's been irresponsible and contemptible, so any attempt to name buildings after him is totally unwarrented, and probably most assuredly premature.  John McCain was an obvious self serving disgrace, which makes you wonder what's wrong with the people of Arizona? 

The real focus should be on this. Will the nation and the Senate be better off or worse off without him?
