Mitt Romney Still Believes He Can Rebuild the Pre-2016 GOP

Mitt Romney Still Believes He Can Rebuild the Pre-2016 GOP

Mitt Romney still seems to think the Republican Party can return to its pre-Trump “glory.” Whereas his fellow never-Trumper, Liz Cheney appears to begrudgingly understand that the days of offering the American people establishment red vs establishment blue as their only option in presidential elections are gone for good, Romney is still pinning his hopes on a return to his idea of political normalcy.

While Cheney has endorsed and campaigned with Democrat White House hopeful Kamala Harris, Romney is shying away from any formal support for the only establishment candidate on the ballot in 2024. Why? He has a plan.

‘I Believe I Will Have Influence’

“I’ve made it very clear that I don’t want Donald Trump to be the next president of the United States, and you’re going to have to do the very difficult calculation of what that would mean,” Romney stated October 8 during a panel discussion at the University of Utah when asked why he hasn’t come out for Harris.

He then revealed his more far-reaching strategy.

“My own view is that I want to continue to have a voice in the Republican Party following this election because I think there’s a good shot that the Republican Party is going to need to be rebuilt and reoriented – either after this election or, if Donald Trump is re-elected, after he’s the president,” Romney continued. “I believe I will have influence in the party by virtue of saying it as I’ve said it.”

Romney is still fervently clinging to the idea that the America First populism that has taken root among the GOP grassroots is a temporary mirage that will quickly dissipate the moment Trump walks off the main stage, as someday he must. That it is a cult of personality, and not a sincere ideology based upon a genuine adherence to well-thought-out political beliefs.

Contrast this with Cheney, who has acknowledged that “far too much has happened that’s too damaging” to scotch-tape together the old way of doing business. Perhaps the difference between the two is geographic. Cheney in 2022 was famously hurled out of her House seat in a GOP primary rout in MAGA-rich Wyoming.  Romney, meanwhile, represents Utah in the US Senate, a state with an extremely liberal Republican governor and a bevy of GOP establishment officials in various positions of power. Though he chose not to seek re-election in 2024, perhaps wary of a primary challenge himself, Romney has been largely insulated from the humiliation inflicted upon Cheney.

Romney Chides Dems: ‘Not Because of Their Policy’

Does that account for his ability to hold onto what Liz Cheney says is an outdated vision of modern American political reality? It’s not as if Trump is a new phenomenon. He has been the dominant force among the Republican voting base for eight full years. It’s telling that in the same appearance at the University of Utah, Romney cast himself as a stout cultural conservative, as if that is all it takes for a career establishment Republican with a decades-long public record to win back a GOP base devoted to change.

“I think the reason the Democrat Party [sic] is in trouble this year and, in my opinion, will likely lose the presidential race… [is] not because of their policy, but because of the positions they’ve taken on cultural issues,” Romney said at the event, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. “They have let people talk about defunding the police and biological males going into women’s sports. And that drove a lot of people just nuts.”

Not because of their policy? The Biden administration has presided over an unprecedented national security catastrophe on America’s porous southern border while flying hundreds of thousands of “migrants” from Central and South America directly into the US heartland.

Americans have been horrified to watch their fellow citizens suffer and die after two major hurricanes wreaked destruction on the southeast US while FEMA, the federal agency charged with helping them, pleads poverty after having spent hundreds of millions on housing illegal aliens in 2024 alone and Congress apportions billions of taxpayer dollars as aid to fund foreign wars abroad.

Romney, meanwhile, has been among the loudest GOP voices in Washington backing staggering amounts of cash to Ukraine. He has repeatedly expressed his support for Democrat-backed “immigration reform” legislation that would provide “amnesty” for millions of illegal aliens residing in the US.

Yet Romney still hopes that if he wags his finger and sternly denounces a few particularly outrageous examples of progressive cultural excess, he can rebuild the red establishment vs blue establishment dynamic that is suffering under political polarization.

It may not be a sustainable political position anymore. As Liz Cheney said, too much has happened. What has been done cannot be undone. The establishment is not going away soon. There will indeed be a political realignment in America. But it will likely look nothing like a Barack Obama-Mitt Romney pillow fight. The times are far too serious.

News Alert: Manchin Isn't Running For President!

By Rich Kozlovich

I know, I know, you're shocked and surprised...right? Ya know, it's really amazing isn't it.  Joe Manchin was so bad on energy issues, budgets, etc, that when he read the tea leaves he realized W. Va. didn't really like him, or any Democrat for that matter, and decided not to run for his Senate seat.  Good thinking, but, never fail to understand the size of a politicians ego can be so massive there's little room left in their brains for intelligence.  As a result he said he might run for President.  Imagine that!   And the media thought that was actually meaningful.  Imagine that!

The ego/intelligence argument doesn't apply to the media.  They're just stupid.  After all they seemed to think Liz Chaney could run, and she actually said she was undecided.....chuckling....a lot.

And guess who he thought would be a great VP?  Mitt Romney!  Another loser who also read the tea leaves and discovered the people of his state thought they really could get along without him, and seemingly, can't wait to do so.

But, this gets better.   He had a back up choice for VP if Mitt decided to stay home.  He thought Ohio's former Senator Rob Portman, who also read the tea leaves, would be a good VP.   Both "Republicans".  Imagine that.

Well, those two or three people who were concerned over this potential Presidential run can stop worrying, Manchin has decided he isn't going to run.  Shocked, shocked I tell you!  Well, not really.   Those darn tea leaves just won't go along with the program!  But, as my mother, a full blooded FDR Democrat used to say, "That falls under the category of who gives a crap", only she didn't say crap.

Okay, I have to admit, I found this Manchin for President a big chuckle from the git go.  So, why bother posting this non-decision, as this was as obvious as night follows day?

I posted this because I thought everyone might appreciate the Romney/Portman component of this story.  Why?  He thought Mitt Romney or Rob Portman, two Republicans, had views compatible with his own.  Did he actually discuss this with them?  I'm guessing no, and this was merely a speculatory response to a question, but I did see this as an insight into his view of the Republican leadership, and I think it's a valid one, and not a pretty one.

Kakistocracy: We are Ruled by Charlatans, Knaves, and Fools, Part IV

Kakistocracy is a system of government run by the least suitable or competent citizens of a state!

By Rich Kozlovich

See Part I, Part II, Part III

History is a paved walkway leading to the stepping stones of the future.  Without history we're walking through a foggy dark forest without direction.  That's a known quality, yet we see so many "leaders" taking a path that contravenes the all lessons of history.  Why?  Because they ignore the things they know and make up things they don't know.  In short, if it doesn't fit the leftist agenda and narrative, no matter how stupid that narrative may be, it's ignored.   But there are consequences for that.

 Let's start with California.

Beginning today, Governor  Newsom is offering free health insurance  to anyone who gets there, including illegal immigrants, and that's who he's targeting. This expected expansion will directly impact American citizens of California, and there's no money to pay for it.

In  L.A. County they believe in and practice "pandemic forever", mandating masks.  We now know masks don't work, that's now indisputable.  I said that from the beginning and got a lot of heat about it, yet time and truth are on the same side, and the bug man was right again.  Imagine that!

Crime in California is rampant, so what does California do?  They expanded their "Gun-Free Zones" in spite of the fact it violates the Supreme Court rulings in this issue.  As always, obedience to the Constitution and the Supreme Court is absolute for the left, unless either or both violate the sacred tenets of leftism, then the Tenth Amendment is supreme.  And with the left that's like a reversible jacket, they'll happily take the opposite tack when it suits them.  The moral foundation of leftism is as solid as quicksand.  This is also taking place in Washington state.

As bad as prices for everything in California already are, the price of food is going to be like a missile attack.  Today, California's new animal welfare laws take effect, and since farmers out of the state of California wish to be in that market, they'll comply and that will impact food prices all over the nation.

Green energy will bring 100 carbon neutral by 2045, but it won't bring electricity, which they're already having to buy from out of state producers, and doing so massively.  Prices on everything will go up.

  • California to become reliant on green energy and becoming 100 percent carbon neutral by 2045, thousands of workers will be hit with the high cost of electric-powered tools.  Starting next year, California will ban the sale of any gas-powered lawnmowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, and yard care equipment.  Also in Michigan.
  • Mandates to stores to sell gender neutral toys, or else.
  • No gas powered lawnmowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, yard equipment, or appliances

And you had better not criticize California politicians like the Mayor of San Francisco who went full Mao.

Didn't Mao celebrate his 130th birthday this week?  That certainly seems to be what they were celebrating in San Francisco, where political goons aligned with London Mayor London Breed forced an Asian-American rapper to apologize, in the most grovelling way possible, for creating a rap video critical of Mayor Breed, on whose watch the city has turned into a dump.

She demanded an apology, and got it because of threats of violence by the black leadership in San Francisco.  And that's a surprise?

California's leaders truly exemplify a kakistocracy, and the consequences of this? They're driving people, taxpaying people, out of the state.  For this year alone about 300,000 left California.  That was as predictable as night follows day.

The Biden administration is the major force behind this destructive effort that can only be called treasonous.  They're doing everything they can to destroy the coal, oil, natural gas suppliers in the nation.  Yet they've grovelled to Venezuela begging them to sell their high contamination oil to America.  How insane is that?  And now we see clearly insanity is infectious as the King of Jordan claims Palestinians are on the front lines of climate change.   No, they're on the front line for the genocide of Jews and Christians.

At COP 28 world leaders pulsated in terror over the upcoming disaster of climate change, and how the world's security depended on dealing with it...and now!!!!  Canada is mandating that only zero-emission vehicles be sold by 2035.

And that paragon of efficiency and competence, Pete Buttigieg claims America will be totally in on electric vehicles, even though no one is buying them.   The history of mandates and subsidies for the non traditional electricity industry has been bankruptcy.  Is there any reason to believe that will change in the future.  No!  As the author points out:

Electric Bus maker Proterra, a company Joe Biden lauded as the future, went bankrupt in 2022, going the way of Solyndra and many other Obama/Biden green fantasies, taking untold taxpayers billions with them.

We have government criminal agencies acting criminally, as now it's been proven the FBI has been abusing it authority targeting Catholics "as potential domestic terrorists,"  which the FBI called radical-traditionalist Catholics. Which they couldn't define, but if you're Catholic and you really like to old Latin mass, that's evidence of your radical potential for terrorism.  At least to the FBI.

Educators are peddling porn in the schools, and the federal government is running a block for them

The Deep State has been working to sexualize children for decades; in recent years these efforts have become increasingly pathological.  Yes, parents have every right to protest books in schools that are plainly pornographic; these books are unsuitable for adults, much less for grade-school children.  This Book is Gay is available throughout the United States, and gives details on how to find homosexual partners online; its glossary provides the terms for “licking the bottom” and ingesting feces, and advises children about anal and oral sex.  Gender Queer includes photos of sexual acts between a boy and a man, and illustrations of masturbation and oral sex.  Beyond Magentaincludes passages about a six-year-old little boy performing oral sex on other little boys and talking to ‘pedophiles’ who masturbated in front of him.”  It also claims a 6-year-old “can enjoy performing oral sex on an adult” without it having anything to do with pedophilia.  There are countless other “award-winning best sellers” catering to depraved educators, but space is limited.

Pope Francis has now given his imprimatur on same-sex marriage, saying:

Blessings require both “the right intention of those who participate” and “that what is blessed be objectively and positively ordered to receive and express grace, according to the designs of God inscribed in creation,” stated the text, published with the express approval of Pope Francis.

America's foreign policies are so blatantly stupid it's mind boggling, and if there ever was evidence of historical ignorance Secretary of State Blinken is the perfect example, and truth be told, many Republicans aren't any better, like Senator Graham who claims Israel will "have" to accept a two state solution.  Really?  What if Hamas won't accept that?  Israel offered that in the past and it was rejected. That dog just won't hunt, and Graham is an idiot.  He's 68 years old and has been in the Senate since 2003, and he didn't learn anything in all those years!   How dumb can that man be?  Well, apparently they answer is there's no limit.

We're seeing a real revolution taking place in America, and it's being conducted by the Biden Administration and the traitorous minions of the Deep State.  It's called unbridled illegal immigration, which is going to cause massive public health issues.  As Mike McDaniel notes in his article, Disease is diverse and inclusive too, saying:

The flood of illegal immigrants has brought with it human trafficking, rampant crime, known terrorists, sexual slavery, pedophilia, the drug deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans, has enriched cartels beyond their wildest dreams and oh-so-much more. Another diverse and inclusive import is third-world diseases once all but eradicated in America. It’s becoming rather noticeable:... tuberculosis.....polio.....shigella......

And now all those arrogant, self righteous "sanctuary" Democrats are crying, this is a crisis, with Chicago mayor threatening the owners of busses and plane bringing these criminal to his city, a sanctuary city.   Now, that's really nervy, don't you think?

Well, Texas Gov. Abbott  thinks these 'sanctuary" hypocrites need to live up to their rhetoric, and keeps sending them to these cities and states, and now they're outraged.  Imagine that.  And who's fault is all of this?  Well, it's clearly Trump's fault, along with Republicans, MAGA "extremists", whites, and conservatives, but Joe Biden, the architect of this disaster is blameless.  After all, it's never the failure of leftists and their insane policies.    As the Church Lady on Saturday Night Live used to say when confronting hypocrisy:  Well, isn't that special?

Oh, wait, I forgot, that was for conservative hypocrites, especially if they were Christians,  not leftist hypocrites, especially if they were heretics like Biden and Pelosi, or atheists.

But then again, can an atheist be a hypocrite?  Since they subscribe to no moral value, I guess not, and how many Democrat politicians are atheists?  I'm betting based on what they support and the way they act, it's most of them.  And the same question should be asked of journalists.  Hypocrisy isn't their problem, blatant corrupt is however.

We're abandoning our obligations to our veterans who earned those benefits with their service, so many of them putting their lives on the line, and yet for decades they've catered to criminals.  Yes, that's what illegal aliens are, criminals.  And spending taxpayer dollars on ballroom dance programs to 'uplift transgender' youth in Peru. They can't afford to take care of our veterans yet these misfits are spending money like drunken sailors.  In Hawaii they spent $53.7 million dollars on a "temporary school".   How much would a permanent school cost? We're seeing the total destruction of the rule of law and abuse of the legal system, and judges are part and parcel of that corruption, as they twist know laws in ways unheard of to prevent Trump from running for President.

More than a few Republicans are totally on board with that. Liz Cheney claims Donald Trump would destroy the Republic, and Paul Ryan caught trying to steer endorsements to Nikki Haley.  Mitt Romney has one passion, do everything he can to destroy Donald Trump.  Then there's  RINO New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu who claims Nikki Haley will win the New Hampshire primary over Trump because that's what he sees taking place in his state.  How conservative is this nitwit brigade?   Haley claims to be a "conservative Republican" has the same problem on abortion as she has on all issues.

Tweaking.

She prefers tweaking over inflexibility, firmness, and clarity.  She can a tweak a little here, and tweak a little there, and the first thing you know we have another John Kasich, who declared he can define conservatism as he sees fit.  And his brand of conservatism fit right in with the tyrannical big government leftists.  So too would Haley if elected.  If that nitwit brigade is for her, no sane conservative could possibly be for her.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is caused by an incurable case of delusion and stupidity compounded by a massive infection of hubris.  An affliction fools suffer who actually think people care what they think.

Mitt Romney: Master troll

Mitt Romney penned an especially inspirational piece in the Atlantic for the 4th of July, in which he itemized our national problems and then blamed us (the people who don't reside in Washington, D.C.) for them.

Mitt started out his missive with a little criticism of our crop management practices.

Even as we watch the reservoirs and lakes of the West go dry, we keep watering our lawns, soaking our golf courses, and growing water-thirsty crops.

We're told by the Left that we can't have meat because it's mean-spirited.  Little did we understand that we're also supposed to feel guilty about growing water-thirsty crops — which would be all crops.  So meat and plants are out as food.  What does Senator Delecto recommend that we feed the masses with?  Soylent Green?  Will they be serving that in the French Laundry, too?  Is processed human remains best with red or white wine?

Then the good senator moved on to global warming................ To Read More.....

Utah County Censures Mitt Romney for Trump Impeachment Vote

Jacob Bliss

Weber County GOP censured Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) Saturday during its convention for the senator’s vote to impeach former President Donald Trump earlier this year.  The resolution to censure Romney was passed 116-97 by the members from the Weber County GOP, according to County Party Secretary Jill Koford.  “The Weber County Republican Convention censures Mitt Romney for his votes to convict President Trump in two U.S. Senate impeachment trials,” the resolution read.

The resolution added that the impeachment had “denied the President due process, allowed falsified evidence, did not provide adequate time for an investigation.”  The impeachment “did not follow the U.S. Constitution which states a President may only be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors,” the group stated.  Weber County also added to the resolution in order to thank Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) for protecting the “due process and the US Constitution by voting against the unconstitutional charges.”........To Read More.....

Rino Romney Claims Impeachment Is Not Divisive..

Magnus McCoy - January 28, 2021

Just how bitter can one be about a failed presidential election? Romney is at it again making Liberal claims while pretending to be a republican. This time he says that the Trump impeachment is somehow not divisive. He feels there was no fraud and even went as far as it is necessary for the country to heal.  “You have many of the Trump supporters in elected office, senators, congresspeople, governors, continuing to say the same thing, that the election was stolen,” Romney said. Romney said elected Republicans need to go on Fox News and say, “You know what, I was a big Trump supporter, I was really pulling for Donald Trump, but he lost fair and square.”   He then went on to talk about the impeachment......To Read More.....

Mitt Romney: 'I Think That President-elect Biden Is a Clear-Eyed and Intelligent Individual'

By Susan Jones | December 21, 2020

President Donald Trump "has a blind spot when it comes to Russia," Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said on Sunday. In the same interview with CNN's "State of the Union," Romney had praise for Democrat Joe Biden:

I think that president-elect Biden is a clear-eyed and intelligent individual. And he's going to assess Russia and their capabilities in an appropriate way. But I also think that he will look at China and recognize that, long term, China is the more significant threat to America.

Russia is, if you will, a gas station parading as a country, as John McCain used to say. And they have got extraordinary difficulties, and they're lashing out in a moment of decline.

China, of course, is emerging stronger and stronger, and presents an extraordinary threat to freedom around the world and to our prosperity here. And so that's going to be the more significant challenge that will be faced by a new president..........To Read More....

My Take -He believes the guy who is deep into corruption with Russia, Ukraine and China (Video: OOPS! China Brags About Deals With Biden Family) will deal with them in a "clear eyed and intelligent" way!  This is the man who says  his son is the smartest man I know'.  Is it the fact his son is eyeball deep into criminal corruption is what makes him the smartest man he knows?

Well, now we can confirm two things everyone knows.  Biden is an idiot and Romney is from another planet, either that or he's a supporter of treason, or perhaps to change parties.  Treason, Democrats, There I go repeating myself.

Shocked, shocked I tell you!

Mitt Romney reframes himself as a ‘severely conservative’ governor

By David A. Fahrenthold

Let us try to tell the story of Mitt Romney, “severely conservative” governor.  Perhaps it should start in 2002, when Romney was campaigning in Massachusetts. “I’m not a partisan Republican,” Romney said. “I’m someone who is moderate, and . . . my views are progressive.”

No, that doesn’t quite fit — not with Romney’s recent re-telling of his political life story. Last week, Romney told right-wing activists that he had been a “severely” conservative governor.
Perhaps that severity didn’t show itself until the end of his single term. Back then, Romney held a ceremony complete with drummers and tootling fifes to celebrate his bipartisan health-care bill.
“It’s now my pleasure to introduce my collaborator and friend,” Romney said. “Senator Edward Kennedy.”
Perhaps not.

This much is true: Romney worked to cut spending, to stop same-sex marriage, and to bring back the state’s death penalty. But Romney also frequently sought compromises with a Democratic legislature. And when he couldn’t win, he often gave up............To Read More....

Utah GOP Denounces Mitt Romney Over Impeachment Vote

“As a party, we strongly disagree with the vote cast today by Senator Romney,” Utah GOP says

Kit Daniels | Infowars.com  Feb 6, 2020 | ,
The Utah GOP quickly distanced itself from Sen. Mitt Romney who voted to convict President Trump.   Romney (R-Utah) made history by becoming the first US Senator to vote to convict a president of his own party. This led to an unprecedented condemnation by the Utah GOP of its own senator.
“As a party, we strongly disagree with the vote cast today by Senator Romney,” the party stated. “We stand firmly behind our President, whose policies have created unprecedented levels of American prosperity.”  “The impeachment effort has served only to distract America from the serious issues we face, and in November voters will hold Democrats accountable for this distraction.”.......To Read More...

The Story That Mitt Romney Should Have Read That Possibly Gutted The Democrats' Trump Impeachment Narrative

Matt Vespa Feb 07, 2020 2:30 AM

The Democrats’ impeachment push is dead. A lot of us knew this would be the outcome. Republicans control the Senate. There was no way 67 Senators were going to sign off on this hyper-partisan witch-hunt. This was dead from the start. Still, we all knew Democrats were fishing for reasons to impeach Trump. Russian collusion was the top idea for two years before Robert Mueller’s report killed that narrative. Then, came this Ukraine angle, which was an offshoot of the Trump-Kremlin collusion myth. You all know the story. Trump allegedly threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine unless they investigated Hunter Biden on corruption charges stemming from his board position at an energy company, which he held since daddy Biden was vice president. He has no experience in the energy sector, but he was allegedly there to sell access to then-top Obama officials............To Read More....

Mitt Romney's 'profile in courage'

By Byron York February 07, 2020

For years Mitt Romney had a reputation as a flip-flopper, an opportunist, a politician who would tailor his beliefs to fit whichever group he was trying to please.

Running for office in deep-blue Massachusetts in 1994 and 2002, he pronounced himself strongly pro-choice. Running for the Republican presidential nomination in pro-life Iowa and South Carolina, he became just as strongly pro-life.

As governor of Massachusetts, he produced a universal health care program that prefigured Obamacare. Appealing to GOP voters deeply opposed to Obama, Romney renounced his signature accomplishment.

Running for office in Massachusetts, Romney backed away from the legacy of Ronald Reagan. Running in the Republican primaries, he embraced the GOP's favorite president.

Running for office in Massachusetts, Romney eschewed the label of conservative Republican. "My views are progressive," he said in 2002, pronouncing himself a "moderate." Ten years later, running in the GOP primaries, he famously declared himself "severely conservative."

And so on. Romney could never escape the opportunist label, mostly because it fit........... To Read More....

Romney's Oath before God

By Bert Peterson February 7, 2020

Nothing reveals the character of the Democratic Party more clearly than the Democrats' vote to convict based on the second article of the impeachment of Pres. Trump — an article that was about legal disputes over subpoenas, which would normally be settled through the courts.

Instead of doing that, however, the issue was sent to the Senate, where, instead of making legal arguments, Democrats simply cried "cover-up!" to Republican opposition to their demands. For this, because Trump adhered to the legal process, Democratic senators voted, and voted unanimously, to remove...not themselves, but President Trump from office. (Were they kidding?)

The other, the first article of impeachment — which charged that, in asking Ukraine to investigate corruption involving former V.P. Joe Biden, and which also charged that Trump withheld military aid to force such compliance — was only superficially less-clearly baseless. This too was unanimously supported by the Democrats, but this time, there was also someone else — Republican Sen. Mitt Romney — who joined them.

This should not have come as a complete surprise.............To Read More...

Born Loser From the Start

High time for Romney to step down.

Lloyd Billingsley

In “Romney’s Discreditable, Dishonest Vote,” Conrad Black calls Mitt Romney “a political outcast—a briefly useful idiot for the defeated Democrats and a traitor to the party he once led in a presidential election.” That is all true, but there’s much more to the man, something of a born loser from the start.

His father George Romney headed up American Motors went on to become governor of Michigan. Romney senior thought that qualified him to be president of the United States, but his 1968 bid went nowhere and he settled for HUD boss.

According to Romney fils, daddy left him no money but it turned out that he “inherited some funds.” As a college student, he had cash to burn and stocks that eliminated the need for work. As Mitt imagines, being wealthy, having famous relatives and looking down your nose at working people qualifies him as a conservative.

After raking in big bucks at Bain Capital, Mitt served as governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007. Like daddy, he thought he had the chops to become president, but from the start he was clueless..........

That’s about as bad as it gets, and this gutless, sanctimonious buffoon should remove himself from the Senate. As Oliver Cromwell put it, “In the name of God, go!”............To Read More....

Mitt Romney: ‘I Am Profoundly Religious. My Faith Is At The Heart of Who I Am’

By CNSNews.com Staff | February 6, 2020

Sen. Mitt Romney, who now represents Utah but who originally ran for the Senate in 1994 in Massachusetts against Ted Kennedy, said on the Senate floor Tuesday that his profound religious faith drove him to vote for removing President Donald Trump from office. In 1994, when he was trying to remove Kennedy, Romney was a vocal advocate of legalized abortion on demand.

"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country; I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate," Romney said in his campaign against Kennedy. "I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years, that we should sustain and support it."

Wednesday on the Senate floor Romney explained how his faith drove him to vote to make Donald Trump the first American president ever removed from office by the Senate. “As a Senator juror, I swore an oath before God to exercise impartial justice,” Romney said. “I am profoundly religious,” he continued. “My faith is at the heart of who I am,” he said. “I take an oath before God as enormously consequential,”..........To Read More....

My Take - It's amazing how a "profoundly religious man" can so easily adopt "profoundly" secular views that are the antipathy of Judaic/Christian values. But that's okay, because you see he flipped on abortion. In point of fact, he's an incredibly proficient flipper, with the moral foundation of quicksand, which allows him to believe whatever he needs to believe whenever he needs to believe it. But, he’s “profoundly religious”.

I just wonder who he really worships? The man is a disgrace, and the Utah GOP is just now realzing it?  Amazing!

Mitt Romney: We abandoned an ally

October 18, 2019

Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) on Thursday ripped US President Donald Trump over the ceasefire reached in Syria, while calling his decision to withdraw troops “a bloodstain in the annals of American history.” “The announcement today is being portrayed as a victory. It is far from a victory. Serious questions remain about how the decision was reached precipitously to withdraw from Syria and why that decision was reached,” Romney said, according to The Hill.

US Vice President Mike Pence announced earlier on Thursday that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to halt Turkey’s offensive in northern Syria for 120 hours in order to allow Kurdish forces known as the YPG to evacuate.

In exchange, Trump will lift the sanctions on Turkey he imposed this week and not impose further sanctions, Pence added...........To Read More...

  • Mitt in 2007: ‘Kurdish nationalism could destabilize the border with Turkey’
October 18, 2019 By Thomas Lifson

Politician Mitt Romney has joined journalists like Bill Kristol and Jennifer Rubin in contradicting his previously-espoused positions when President Trump acts on them.

Back in 2007 when he was running for president, Romney took to the pages of Foreign Affairs, the journal published by the Council on Foreign Relations, aka Globalism Central, to warn against the danger presented by unthinking American adherence to Kurdish nationalism. Joel Pollak of Breitbart remembered:

In an essay for Foreign Policy regarded as a definitive statement of his foreign policy views at the time, Romney warned that “Kurdish nationalism could destabilize the border with Turkey.” ...........Romney was following the familiar diplomatic truism annunciated by 19th century British prime minister Lord Palmerston: “Nations have no permanent friends or allies, they only have permanent interests.”

Yet now that President Trump has withdrawn fewer than 50 American troops from an area near the Turkish-Syrian border, suddenly we have a “scared” obligation to the Kurds.......President Trump is clear that he operates on the principle of putting the interests of his nation first, just as every other head of state does, or should do............To Read More

My Take - Mitt Romney is like sweat on parts of the body where the sun doesn't shine. Slimy and high smelling?

Romney Demands Answers from White House on Syria Decision: "American Honor Has Already Been Tarnished"

Tobias Hoonhout October 17, 2019

A day after he called President Trump's handling of Turkey's invasion of northern Syria "unacceptable," Senator Mitt Romney gave a speech on the Senate floor Thursday afternoon demanding answers from ... To Read More

My Take - Amazing! This guy is as weird as John Kaisch and John McCain combined.  We missed a bullet when Hillary lost, but little did we realize we missed a bullet when Mitt lost.  Whodda Thunk It?  The big question really is - What's wrong with the people of Utah?

Trump calls Romney 'a pompous ass'

October 5, 2019 By Monica Showalter

The Left is having a field day now that President Trump has called Mitt Romney, his Republican rival and habitual antagonist, "a pompous ass." ............Maybe that's a good thing. It keeps them busy, chasing the Trumpian laser pointer. But Trump had ample reason to be angry and disgusted with the failed 2012 Republican presidential candidate .............

Via GatewayPundit, Rush Limbaugh has reported that Romney has already given House speaker Nancy Pelosi the all-clear to impeach the president, advising her that lots of senators are in his NeverTrump tree.  That's some party loyalty Romney's got, sending Pelosi aid and succor.......What we have here is an embittered, hypocritical, mendacious, one-sided Pecksniff of a Utah senator, one the voters ought to throw out. In short, as President Trump said: a horse's ass. ......To Read More....

My Take - Until now I had no idea what a Pecksniff was, so I looked it up.  Pecksniff is a name of a Dickens character who is defined as:
"An unctuous hypocrite, a person who affects benevolence or pretends to have high moral principles; (also) a person who interferes officiously in the business of others."
Could there be any other term that would define Romney any better?

Mitt Romney wants a carbon tax; talks border policy and ‘Medicare for All’

U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney said Monday that he believes climate change is happening and human activity is a significant contributor.  During a speech at the conservative Sutherland Institute in Salt Lake City, the senator acknowledged that the position is rare among his fellow Republicans, but one that younger people seem to respond to more strongly than older conservatives.

“In some respects, (by speaking with newer conservatives), I’ll be able to make inroads with some of the young people coming along,” he said.  The former GOP presidential nominee has acknowledged climate change before, and said during his 2018 campaign for U.S. Senate in Utah that “climate realities” will make wildfires more common and destructive in the West. His comments Monday took that stance a step further..........To Read More....

My Take - When I read the things this man says and does I ask myself - Is it possible for a man to be so successful in life, and yet be that stupid?  And apparently the answer is yes, it is.   Once again he clearly outlines what one writer said.  Trying to figure Mitt Romney out is an effort in futility.

However, I think he's going to try for the Presidency again in 2020.

He clearly believes Trump cannot be elected in 2020, and has said so, calling the President a con man.  Talk about the kettle calling the pot black, but that's the only explanation that makes any sense. However, that train has left the station.  It's also an insight into his delusional mind.  But that's what happens when weird arrogant people surround themselves with RINO's of like mind.

I wonder if George Will would be his communications director, and John Kasich as his campaign manager.  Now, how's that sound for a winning team?

The second question I keep asking myself about Romney is - how stupid are who live in Utah?
