Monty Pelerin's World

A Capsule of Political Thought

The image is from the American Spectator. It nicely (although imperfectly) captures what the two political parties are selling this election.

The stools ought to be four-legged instead of three. The fourth leg of both would be Plunder — the confiscation of wealth demanded by government.

An argument can be made that the fourth leg on the conservative stool would be shorter than the new leg on the liberal side. That would be true. But, do you feel better when a thief takes only half your money as opposed to your entire wallet? I suppose it is like the Mafia only breaking one knee versus both.................There's more.

David vs. Goliath (Nadler vs. Barr)

The battle between Jerrold Nadler and Bill Barr, if it were indeed a fight, would not be sanctioned by any boxing commission in the country. It is a battle of little David against big Goliath and David has no slingshot!

Nadler is out of his league trying to run his own committee. To think he can take on Barr is amusing and is apt to provide many embarrassing moments for David. Nadler, regardless of his partisanship, does not have the intellectual ammunition to engage with Barr.

Per Nadler’s request, Barr sent a letter outlining what is coming. (That letter is available here.)
This letter ought to strike fear in the Deep State.  It is written clearly, precisely and boldly — all characteristics of Bill Barr.

Nadler is hardly the brightest bulb in the string of dimwits on Capitol Hill. The fear that others (those at risk) will likely convey to him should generate the proper respect. If not, he is a bigger buffoon than he has already shown.

The Deep State and The Deep Media

To fully understand the Deep State one need focus on matters both inside and outside of government. The Deep State corrupts everything it touches. Today that includes much of the country.

The Deep State corrupted the media. The first task of any State is to control the information (propaganda) fed to its citizens.

Totalitarian states eliminate any free exchange of opinions. The Soviet Union had a state-run newspaper known as Pravda. It was a monopoly in that no other sources legally provided news. The new Russia pretends it has press freedom, but it controls the media. So does China. Severe penalties, including murder, are used to obtain conformity.
In the US, we say we have freedom and a “free press.” But do we?.....................

IF YOU HAD A HUNCH THE NEWS SYSTEM WAS SOMEWHAT RIGGED AND YOU COULDN’T PUT YOUR FINGER ON IT, THIS MIGHT HELP YOU SOLVE THE PUZZLE.

ABC       News executive producer Ian Cameron is married to Susan Rice,   Obama’s   former National Security Adviser.
CBS       President David Rhodes is the brother of Ben Rhodes,  Obama’s   Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications.
ABC       News correspondent Claire Shipman is married to former  Obama Whitehouse Press Secretary Jay Carney.
ABC       News and Univision reporter Matthew Jaffe is married to Katie Hogan, Obama’s former Deputy  Press  Secretary   .
ABC       President Ben Sherwood is the brother of  Obama’s former Special Adviser Elizabeth Sherwood.
CNN       President Virginia Moseley is married to former Hillary Clinton’s Deputy Secretary Tom Nides.

This is “Huge” and is   only  a ‘partial’ list since the same holds true for NBC/MSNBC and most media outlets.  Trump has been right all along. Fake News is generated by these   incestuous relationships .................There's more.

Slimey, Duplicitous, Permanent-state Operator

The phrase “slimey, duplicitous, permanent-state operator” is Mark Steyn’s translation for Deep State propaganda describing someone as “a straight arrow” or “highly respected by both sides” or “pillar of integrity.” Such praise is suspect for anyone who has spent more than a few years in the Swamp. Steyn’s translation is appropriate, virtually universally correct and should be substituted for most grandiose praise these political operators bestow on their own.

The facade of respectability, honesty and integrity is of utmost importance to the Deep State. It coincides with the perpetrated myth that government is “of, by and for the people,” perhaps the most impressive propaganda phrase ever coined.

In reality government is little different than the Mafia (except that government is much less efficient). Albert J. Nock reflected on this resemblance almost 100 years ago (my emboldening..............
