Republican Control of the House

By Rich Kozlovich

There's been a lot of turbulence in the Republican controlled House, and it's not been pretty.  But all this turbulence has really exposed who are the conservative members and who are not, and some of those who are not have abandoned their Republican colleagues by resigning, and have done so in such a way as to make it possible for the Democrats to take over.  And now we're seeing another battle over the Speakership, and giving Speaker Johnson's actions, we're not shocked.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is spearheading the effort to remove him saying:  ’Yes I’m Willing to Force It' saying:

“The reality for Mike Johnson that he just is not accepting or refusing to accept, publicly at least, is whether it happens two weeks from now, two months from now, or in the next majority, he will not be Speaker. He just will not be. There may be only two of us public right now. But he does not have the support of the conference at all. There may be people who might not vote to vacate him right now, but they will never vote for him to be Speaker next Congress. There are two large factions in the conference against his speakership.”

And she's not alone, and there's a lot of good reasons for that dissatisfaction!  There's a lot of  dissatisfaction with Johnson over foreign aid ‘Insanity’ that neglects the Southern Border:

House Republicans’ dissatisfaction with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is rapidly growing as Reps. Scott Perry (R-PA) and Jim Banks (R-IN) are sharing their frustrations about what Banks called “insanity” in Johnson’s foreign aid framework, which includes over three times as much money for Ukraine as it does for Israel while neglecting the U.S. Southern border. Perry took to X Tuesday to share an image of the framework, showing the bills allocate $48.83 billion to Ukraine, $14.1 billion for Israel, $2.4 billion for “Red Sea Operations,” $2.58 billion for “INDOPACOM,” and $3.3 billion for a “Submarine Industrial Base.”............

Okay, so just because there are some House members who are really upset at Johnson, including his support of continuing FISA with no restrictions, but what about the public?

Swing-State Voters Sour on Endless Ukraine Funding - Polling from the Heritage Foundation shows that swing-state voters are increasingly tired of America’s endless funding of Ukraine, especially with our southern border wide open for the ongoing invasion that His Fraudulency Joe Biden has deliberately created. Meanwhile, one of the leaders of the Republican Party, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), continues to push and push for Ukraine funding without demanding we first secure our own country from invasion.............

It appears more and more of the public is taking Greene's side.  Naturally Johnson calls Greene's motion to vacate  ‘Absurd’, and he will not resign, even to avoid a mess like the ousting of Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who make it clear it was all about him, and not the good of the party or the nation by resigning from Congress, making control of the House more problematic.  Where does Trump stand on this? He says:  We’ll see what happens!

There's a lot of talk about Marjorie Taylor Greene, and most of the time it isn't pleasant.  But so what?  When Lincoln was President his advisors wanted him to fire Grant as head of the army because he drank.... a lot!  Lincoln said no!  Why?  Because "he fights".

Well, from what I can tell it appears Greene is rude, crude, fearless, totally unconcerned with being liked, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out she's difficult in her private life.  But so what?  She fights.

As for the hysteria over a Democrat take over of the House due to the loss Republican members, I have to ask:  Is that really as bad a thing as they claim?

There's talk they'll make Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. states giving them more control in Congress.  They'll pack the Supreme Court, and do so with nitwits like Sotomayor and Jackson.   Well, this is an election year, so would that kind of activity by a Democrat controlled House be so bad?

First, I have serious doubts any of that would be accomplished, and it would make it totally clear just how vile the Democrats really are.  I believe that would drive more voters to support conservative Republicans.   However, some Democrats simply cannot find it in their hearts and minds to voter a for a Republican, but with what's going on, they might not vote at all.   That's a win.

Here's my analysis for the Senate in 2024.   As for the public's discontent with these leftist nitwits who control the nation's major cities and turned them into economic disasters and crime riden sewers: NYC Chaos: Protesters Storm Stage During Mayor Adams’ Speech, with protestors saying what NYC needs is a new mayor.

I think that's far more telling than any polls.  I've not believed in polls for over 30 years, and I've said don't tell me the polls, show me the crowds, and the crowds are not happy.
