There are many opinions about House Speaker Mike Johnson’s
performance since unexpectedly being thrust into the speakership role. Some
Republicans support Johnson, some want him tossed out while most understand
that he is in a difficult situation since Republicans hold a microscopic
majority. Here are some views regarding recent Congressional votes:
- The Grim Implication of Speaker Mike Johnson's Ukraine Pivot – David Brennan, Newsweek -House Speaker Mike Johnson finally bowed to months of intense pressure this weekend, breaking with the majority of his House Republican colleagues to allow a vote on the $95-billion foreign military aid package that will provide some $61 billion for Ukraine. The move will potentially further weaken his position in Congress, which has come under repeated attack from MAGA representatives. The vote passed 311-112, with all 112 votes against coming from Republicans. Only 101 on the GOP side voted in favor, meaning Johnson relied on his Democratic opponents to pass the package that had stalled for so long.
- Mike Johnson Establishes Himself as a Titan of Congress with Aid Package Vote – William Doyle, The Hill - By risking career suicide and orchestrating this messy, contentious process to a largely bipartisan result, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has established himself as a titan of Congress who for one moment, however brief, released what Abraham Lincoln called in his first inaugural address, “the better angels of our nature.”.....
- The Surrender Republicans – Steve Cortes, Substack - The Democrats have a new speaker! His name is Mike Johnson. Johnson claims to be a Republican. He also claims to be a Christian conservative, constantly touting his faith bona fides in interviews. Perhaps Johnson should contemplate the admonitions of the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 7: “Beware false prophets…by their fruits you will know them…a good tree cannot bear bad fruit.”.....
- By Aiding Ukraine, Mike Johnson Makes America Great Again – Gerard Baker, Wall Street Journal - With his courageous and principled efforts to secure support for a vital legislative package of aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, House Speaker Mike Johnson not only has strengthened U.S. allies and sent a powerful warning to our adversaries. He is making America great again.
- Greene says MAGA base ‘done with Republican leadership like Mike Johnson’ – Marjorie Taylor Greene - But this time … this is different. They’re angry on a whole other level. And here’s what really worries me. They’re done with Republican leadership like Mike Johnson, who totally sold us out to the Democrats.....[Johnson] joined the uniparty faster than anyone we’ve ever seen in history and literally made a night-and-day change in a matter of months. [Johnson] betrayed everyone, betrayed the entire Republican party, betrayed Republican voters, betrayed the Republican conference. And voters are so angry this time.
- Mike Johnson Does the Right Thing—Editors, National Review - Johnson deserves credit for changing his mind on Ukraine funding once he acquired real responsibility as speaker and also for trying every alternative to keep his conference together before moving to pass the aid with Democratic votes as a last resort.\
- How Do You Solve a Problem Like Mike Johnson? - Brian C. Joondeph, American Thinker - McCarthy was replaced by a compromise choice of Mike Johnson. As The Who sang, “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss”, Speaker Johnson is the new boss, also pushing massive omnibus spending bills, not releasing all the January 6 entrapment evidence, supporting continued warrantless spying on Americans, and pushing endless aid to secure the borders of countries thousands of miles away from America while leaving America’s borders wide open.
President Donald J. Trump: Remember, the Speakership we’re talking about has, you know, we’re a majority by one. One vote,” Trump said, citing the dwindling majority because of various lawmaker resignations. “And you can’t really get too tough when — Look, we all want to be tough guys and all, and I have a lot of friends, and frankly I have friends on both sides,” Trump continued. “You know, if you look at the vote, a lot of Republicans, a lot of good Republicans, voted for it. But Mike is in there and he’s trying, and some people were disappointed, and a lot of people were very disappointed that nothing happened with the border. I’ll straighten out the border.
Read: Congress Gives Away $95 Billion, But.....By Susan Daniels - Apr 24, 2024 - … not one red cent to protect our border or to help Americans. Fire the House. Fire the Senate. Line them up against a wall and fire all of them. Tie it to pay-per-view and use that money to repay our debts. I read we are adding $1 Trillion to our debt every 111 days. For those who still don’t get it, a trillion is a thousand billion and a billion is a thousand million. Where is the money going? Is Biden getting 10% of everything? Will a Brink’s truck be following his hearse? Should we start a GoFundMe account to pay Brink’s?......
Editor's Note: Immigration is now a plague on America, and really is the pandemic that will destroy this nation and western civilization. These immigrants represent everything that's ethnically, culturally, economically, and religiously antithetical to western civilization. Culturally they're primitive tribal medieval societies! The Biden administration is deliberately importing anti-American hordes to America, and yet we have nitwits passing massively expensive bills like the Ukraine-Israel Aid Bill, "which includes $3.5 Billion to fast track mass migration from Middle East nations, and s $481 million to settle migrants in U.S. cities". Johnson had to know that was part of the package, and yet did nothing to stop it. He's a Mole! Here is the link to My Speaker Johnson File. RK
