My Gazette: Media Collapse and Corruption II

By Rich Kozlovich

Okay, first, here's the link to Part I,

and you may wish to view my entire Now, there's a lot here, but let's start with the Electronic Media, and NPR. And we're shocked to find out they really are leftist enabling talking heads!  Shocked I tell you!

Sorry, I just couldn't resist channeling Captain Renault.

Senior NPR Editor Admits RussiaGate Was a ‘Swing and a Miss’, Expresses Regret over Hitching Wagon to Schiff - Kristina Wong - Senior NPR business editor Uri Berliner admitted in an explosive op-ed published Tuesday that the public radio station’s RussiaGate reporting was a bust, and that it did not fess up to that after no “Russian collusion” was found between the Trump campaign and Russia.............Berliner, in his op-ed published in the Free Press, wrote that the rise of advocacy at NPR “took off” with the election of former President Donald Trump in 2016.............All of which "angered"  his NPR colleagues, and was rebuked by "NPR’s chief news executive Edith Chapin said in a memo to staffers that leadership rejected his assessment."

Yet,  NPR turned a “blind eye” to the Hunter Biden laptop story, the laptop was indeed newsworthy and that it revealed a “connection to the corrupt world of influence peddling."  Furthermore, "when it became known that [Hunter Biden's] laptop was indeed real — and not Russian disinformation as 51 former intelligence officials had claimed, NPR did not fess up to its “misjudgment.”'

Apparently he's been suspended, and I'm sure soon to be fired, by Woke NPR CEO Katherine Maher who thinks “We All Have Different Truths".    Really?  Nah, get real Kate, truth is singular.  It's either truth, or it's not, and when it's not, in the past it was called a lie.  But then, that was in the past.

Update: Suspended Editor Uri Berliner Resigns From NPR

Ted Cruz called NPR a "partisan propaganda institution" and says it's long past time the federal government stopped funding NPR, and I think that should include PBS.

NPR, where all things are not considered -  It's a been tough week for the guys who gave us "All Things Considered."  It turns out that all things are not considered over at the woke palace.  Yes, diversity at NPR means bring me a liberal and we’ll figure out what victim group he belongs to...........Mr. Berliner, a Peabody Award-winning journalist, castigated NPR for what he said was a litany of journalistic missteps around coverage of several major news events, including the origins of Covid-19 and the war in Gaza. He also said the internal culture at NPR had placed race and identity as “paramount in nearly every aspect of the workplace.”...........Yes, the guys over there want you to believe that the criticism is unwarranted.  Like a good monopoly, and that's what it is, it does not listen to its critics.  It views people like Mr. Berliner, a self-admitted liberal, as one of those who ran away from the plantation to seek fame and fortune.

NPR, the home of preachy males and females -  Back when we listened to the radio the old-fashioned way, I was a fan of NPR...............So hello National Public Radio (NPR), Senior Editor Uri Berliner. He confirmed what everybody knew -- that the newsroom is "woke hell" on a mission to destroy the Trump presidency or to keep him from reelection. Here is a comment from Jonathan Turley:..............

Update:  The contamination is far, wide and deep, as this piece shows:

The Associated Press used the 'Elmo Effect' - Maggie Thorp JD and Jim Thorp MD It is unprecedented, prior to the pandemic, that a news organization would try so hard to reframe breaking health news – dismissing with impunity debilitating injuries and harms. Up to four billion people came across its vaccine infomercial for babies and toddlers — horrifically couched as “apnews” in the article’s URL — which reported that three-year-old Elmo had gotten a COVID-19 vaccine...

The fact is both print and electronic media journalists are in trouble.   Politico, New York Post, L.A. Times, NBC News, Reuters, and others are out of work, and good riddance.  I'm just amazed the New York Times is still in business.   They've become a strict "get Trump" at any cost corrupt cabal.  This Carroll v. Trump lawsuit is an example, one of many!  As a result of their corruption and dishonesty, Tens of Thousands of Mainstream Journalists Laid off in What’s Being Called An “Extinction Event”!  Schadenfreude!

Here's What Caused ABC News' George Stephanopoulos to Cut Off J.D. Vance Matt Vespa  |  February 05, 2024 Former Clinton operative George Stephanopoulos was usually combative with Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) during his interview on ABC News’ This Week on Sunday. The Ohio Republican was asked about Supreme Court rulings and whether it would be healthy for our country for presidents to defy the Supreme Court. Vance also said that Trump should fire disobedient government workers—all of this was based on what Vance said during a 2021 podcast: ............Oh, come on, George. Conservative commentator, who isn't a fan of Vance, was appalled by the interview, saying, "George rules ABC's politics coverage like a little Democrat dictator, and it shows. Shameful."

FNC’s MacCallum to GOP Rep. Mace: Isn’t Getting Something on Border Better Than Getting Nothing? Pam Key Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum said Monday on “The Story” that “getting something” in the bipartisan border deal is better than nothing while interviewing Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC).  MacCallum said, “We’re all trying to figure out this bill. Have you read all 370 pages of this bill?........

Catherine Herridge Posts Important Update on CBS' Seizure of Her Files By Nick Arama As we reported, Catherine Herridge was fired from CBS during a bloodbath of them cutting hundreds of employees. Her firing got the most attention because of her excellence in reporting and the suggestion that it was more than just a layoff when it came to her being let go, just after she'd been reporting on the Hur Report. That suspicion grew louder when it was learned that CBS had also seized Herridge's files, computers, and records, which included her "privileged sources."..........

Why did CBS want to keep Catherine Herridge's reporting files? By Monica Showalter  February 23, 2024 - When top investigative reporter, Catherine Herridge, was laid off at CBS, a lot of heads were shaking. Her layoff made no sense, she was their best performer, their most credible news reporter, the only reason they weren't completely dismissed as a woke and politicized "narrative" and "talking points" outlet. ABC News and NBC News could make no comparable claims, and MSNBC and CNN, not to mention, NPR, certainly could not. But, yeah, they got rid of her, just as she was uncovering some incredible political stories in an election year, including new stories about Hunter Biden's laptop and Joe Biden's involvement in Hunter's sleazy business dealings. According to the Daily Mail:.....

Jimmy Kimmel Signals Exit from Late-Night Show… Ratings, Revenue Drying Up - Good riddance. That was the farewell message from former President Donald Trump to late night host Jimmy Kimmel as it appears the latter’s talk show could be coming to an end. Trump took to his Truth Social outlet to make public his regards, saying: “They could get a far more talented person, who would also get better Ratings, for 5% of what they are paying this Loser!”.............

Doomed CNN Forced to ‘Dramatically’ Slash Anchor Salaries John Nolte Doomed CNN, a far-left propaganda outlet that spreads conspiracy theories and violence, is looking to cut “more than $50 million” in anchor salaries. Let’s start with the current salaries. You are not going to believe how much these assholes are reportedly paid per year:

  • Anderson Cooper: $20 million
  • Wolf Blitzer: $15 million
  • Jake Tapper: $8.5 million
  • Chris Wallace: $8 million
  • John Berman, Kate Bolduan, Sara Sidner: $1 to $2 million

THIS IS CNN:

The only thing sustaining this garbage outlet is the rigged cable/satellite TV con. With fewer than a half-million viewers, CNN cannot survive on merit (i.e., advertising revenue based on ratings). CNN survives only because about 60 million chumps still pay $150 a month for cable/satellite TV. Every month, even though fewer than one percent of those 60 million watch CNN, all 60 million subsidize CNN through their cable bill...........

FNC's MacCallum to GOP Rep. Have you read all 370 pages of this bill?.............

Print Media, And Love Is In The Air

Anyone in the media asking why? - January 27, 2024 By Silvio Canto, Jr. - We've all heard about the LA Times fighting for its life. The recent VP Harris interview with CNN drew 332,000 in total viewers and just 72,000 in the coveted 25-54 demographic. In other words, nobody watched. The newsrooms from coast to coast are doing more "layoffs" than reporting these days:  Reality is rapidly catching up with US corporate media -- As newsrooms find themselves in absolute free fall:
  •  The Times lost $30-40 million in 2023, cutting 74 jobs
  •  WaPo lost $100 million, cutting 240 jobs
  •  The LA Times just laid off 115 journalists -- 22% of its newsroom
  •  NPR cut 10% of their employees last year
  •  The Atlantic is still unable to turn a profit
  •  NBC just slashed 75 jobs

And this represents just a fraction of the dire situation and outlook for US corporate media.  What are these reporters doing when they get a pink slip and are told to clean their desks? Is anyone asking why? Why aren't people reading or watching?

To be fair, a lot of people are cancelling newspaper subscriptions and getting their news from the internet. Is it all about the internet or could they be fed up with media organizations that present the news from a certain point of view?........

Nolte: Atlantic Contributor Wants Taxpayers to Save Media from ‘Extinction Level Event’ John Nolte The far-left Atlantic’s Paul Farhi is calling on taxpayers to save the corporate media from an “extinction-level event.” Farhi was once the left-wing media reporter for the disgraced Washington Post. During a recent round of layoffs at the failing Post, Farhi accepted a buyout. Now he believes that the same people the corporate media insult, demean, and misinform (you and I) should bail out this fascist institution:......

Mass Media Layoffs Are Great For The Right And not just because they own lib journos - Scott Greer Feb 14, 2024 - Over 500 journalists lost their jobs last month. The brutal news follows a year of mass layoffs for the industry. Some of the biggest names in news—such as the Washington Post, CNN, and the Los Angeles Times—have terminated several employees. 2024 may bring even more firings and downsizing. These contractions at the largest media corporations are surprising developments in an election year, and especially in a presidential election year. We certainly aren’t starving for news at the moment. With all the wars and political insanity, you’d think the media would be on a hiring spree. But not so. The Right, of course, loves the layoffs. Right-wingers, for good reason, see the media as the enemy. The media overwhelmingly leans left. Many journalists dedicate their careers to ruining the lives of conservatives and “wrong-thinkers.” Seeing this class suffer pleases the Right............

Vice Plans Hundreds of Layoffs: Trying to Sell the Business Paul Bois Vice Media announced in a memo this week that it will be laying off hundreds of employees as it faces a sale.Vice Media CEO Bruce Dixon said in the company-wide email that the decision to lay off “several hundred” staff members did not come lightly.“This decision was not made lightly,” Dixon wrote.

The 'Crisis' in Mainstream Media Is Due to the Rise of Independent Journalism and the Reporting of Truth - With the recent news of massive layoffs, an exodus of senior editorial staff, and rumors of additional layoffs looming, some believe that the Los Angeles Times is on the brink of collapse. Last week The Messenger, a relatively new entrant to the news landscape, which was populated by "experienced journalists from POLITICO, the New York Post, the Los Angeles Times, NBC News, Reuters and elsewhere," suddenly shuttered, and the Wall Street Journal laid off 20 staffers in its Washington, D.C. bureau.........

Now he believes that the same people the corporate media insult, demean, and misinform (you and I) should bail out this fascist institution:.....

Wow!  What a great idea, after all, look how good that has turned out with NPR and PBS.

The 'Crisis' in Mainstream Media Is Due to the Rise of Independent Journalism and the Reporting of Truth By Matt Funicello February 05, 2024 - And the leftist media is shocked America isn't paying attention to them any longer. Imagine that. So, if that's true, and it clearly is, then the solution is to force America to support these failing institutions with tax money. ........ If you scroll through Twitter/X, some have been cheering these developments, while others are bemoaning them, especially the L.A. Times' difficulties, believing that some sacred role of bringing the "truth" to people will somehow not be performed in the absence of traditional media sources. But the role of one sector of the news media machine in America was being ignored: independent journalists such as those here at RedState........

Sports journal perfectly illustrates how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - By Eric Utter January 27, 2024 - Sports Illustrated, a once iconic magazine and a nearly 70-year-old media brand, recently announced plans to lay off most or all of its staff. “S.I.” was famous for its outstanding writers and its special editions, most noteworthy of which was its annual “Swimsuit Edition.” Once flush with subscribers, things started to go downhill when it was sold off from Time in 2018. Purchased by a consortium, it has been on increasingly dicey footing ever since, its decline spurred on by its ever more political and “progressive” tone. The weekly publication became bi-weekly, then monthly. And now…? How can this happen, you might ask, at a time when many sports have never been more popular, prevalent, and lucrative? Several reasons, all related. S.I.’s publishers chose to afflict the magazine with a litany of “progressive” actions. The sporting journal started pushing a “woke” agenda...........

Hollywood went Woke, Now Going Broke

There's a lot of excuses for why Hollywood is dying as we know it, and AI is one of them, but the biggest reason is they're turning out crap, woke far left radical crap.  And they're shocked, only lunatics such as themselves want to see it.   Shocked I tell you!  Shocked and stupid.

Nolte: Disney+ Faces ‘Wave of Subscriber Cancellations’ Over Price Increases - The Disney Grooming Syndicate is facing a “wave of subscriber cancellations” over Disney+ price increases, Newsweek reports. The outlet cited an example:  The embattled company looks to be dealing with a potential public relations nightmare in the United Kingdom where the cost of an annual Disney+ subscription is giving some subscribers sticker shock followed by out right cancellations:  The X user (formerly Twitter) @mellyfratelli, who lives in the United Kingdom, shared a screenshot of an email she received from Disney. It said from March 30, 2024, her premium subscription cost would increase to $139.50 (£109.90) a year.  She also shared a screenshot of her bank statement; it showed that, in 2020, she had paid $63.45 (£49.99) for the Disney+ annual premium subscription. In 2021, she spent $76.15 (£59.99), and in 2022, it cost her $101.40 (£79.90).

“Goodbye Disney+, you must be crazy x,” she captioned her post, which went viral. At the time of writing, it had been viewed more than 4.3 million times. When they saw that “4.3 million” number, Disney executives must’ve dropped their baby catalogs in horror. Another xweeter wrote, “Disney Plus more than doubling in price over 4 years is absolutely wild… [I]f only the caliber of content being released on the platform made the price seem worthwhile.”  If only…You gotta love it......

Documentary Market Shudders as Participant Media Shuts: ‘Docs Are So Dead’ - At a time when mature films are hard to find outside of arthouse theaters, the news Tuesday that Participant Media has shut down after 20 years in Hollywood was a crushing blow for many movie lovers. But for the documentary market, it may be even worse. “There are other places to go to get a social impact doc funded…but Participant was so good at bringing a doc into the world in a big high impact way,” award-winning director Julie Cohen told TheWrap.......

Participant, the Film Studio Behind 'An Inconvenient Truth". - Left-wing billionaire Jeff Skoll’s woke film studio Participant is reportedly shutting down operations and eliminating most of its staff — the latest victim of Hollywood’s sharp downturn that has seen a bloodbath of layoffs and budget cuts. Participant, founded in 2004, often financed projects with social justice and globalist themes, including former Vice President Al Gore’s climate change documentary An Inconvenient Truth and its sequel. Other titles include the Obama’s Netflix documentary American Factory and the Ruth Bader Ginsburg doc RBG. The studio also helped bankroll two best-picture Oscar winners — Green Book and Spotlight............

Hollywood studios have been hit hard in the past year, enacting deep budget cuts amid a perfect storm of economic chaos that includes Americans continuing to cancel their cable TV subscriptions, the steep downturn in TV advertising, and streaming losses in the billions of dollars. In addition, the industry is still recovering from last year’s strikes by Hollywood writers and actors. Studios that have slashed their headcount in recent months include the Walt Disney Company, Paramount, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Amazon MGM....

Paramount’s Future Looks Grim Amid Perfect Storm of Declining Cable TV, Streaming - The future doesn’t look good for Paramount Global — the Hollywood giant that owns CBS, Paramount Pictures, Comedy Central, BET, Pluto TV, and many other media properties. Paramount Global’s financial outlook took a hit Friday when S&P Global slapped it with a “credit watch negative” rating over concerns about the company’s cash flow. The report blamed “the ongoing deterioration of the linear television ecosystem and the shift toward a lower margin direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming model.”.............

Nolte: Another Terrible Box Office Weekend for Woke Hollywood - Once again, Hollywood’s woketardery flamed out at the weekend box office, which is down -32 percent over this same weekend last year. All told, the box office grossed $64 million this weekend. That’s not what one movie earned this weekend. This is what ALL the movies earned. Oh, and guess what the only hit of the weekend is? Bob Marley: One Love. Despite terrible reviews, One Love has earned $72 million over two weeks......
