Minneapolis: When radical socialist Dems are in charge

The Minneapolis City Council has 13 members representing the city’s wards. Twelve are members of Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), and one is an independent democratic socialist with Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Three of the 13 members identify with both parties.

In March, the Minneapolis City Council passed new labor regulations that now requires ride-sharing companies to greatly increase the amount they pay drivers using their apps. The council’s goal was for the employees to earn a living minimum wage; however, Uber and Lyft drivers are NOT employees.

Besides, as has been debated in California and elsewhere, shouldn’t the marketplace determine wages?

Both Uber and Lyft warned the Minneapolis city council that they would leave if this measure was passed. Of course, radical socialist Democrats never see beyond their radical socialist agenda and the measure passed. Almost immediately, Uber and Lyft gave notice that they would be terminating their services in Minneapolis effective in May.

As radical socialist Democrats do, the city council then proposed spending $150,000 of taxpayer money to help finance smaller ride-share companies to replace Uber and Lyft. Due to the backlash, the far-left (as in they will fall over if they lean anymore to the left) changed the start date to July 1 in the whimsical hope there will be alternatives in place when Uber and Lyft leave.

Do you think these small ride-share companies will be able to do the job that Uber and Lyft had been doing?
Do you think all the unemployed Uber and Lyft drivers will be happy?
Do you think all the citizens who relied on Uber and Lyft to get around will be happy?

Can you name one major city in America they're not turned into economic disasters and crime ridden sewers?
