"Who would be free themselves must strike the blow...
"By their right arms the conquest must be wrought."
So wrote Lord Byron of Greece's war of independence against the Turks, though the famed British poet would ignore his own counsel and die just days after arriving in Greece to join the struggle.
Yet Byron's advice is the wise course for the United States, and for the people of Venezuela who seek to free their country of the grip of the incompetent and dictatorial regime of Nicolas Maduro.
Let the Venezuelans decide their own destiny, as did we........To Read More....
My Take - I agree with Buchanan over this idea Bolton and others have about invading Venezuela, Russian involvement notwithstanding. The fact is, Russia involvement is going to cost them money they don't have. The more they pump in, the sooner they'll collapse, and that goes for the Chinese also.
Some time back the media started blubbering about how we better do something about Venezuela since China and Russia were wanting to use them to get their foot in the Western civilization door. It's the camel nose under the tent scenario.
I said then I hoped the commies would since Venezuela is an open sewer literally and financially, and that no amount of money would fix it as long as these corrupt rulers remained, and the more they pumped into Venezuela the faster these commies would collapse.
The agreements they made with Maduro's government are not going to he honored if a new government gets installed. They will renege and there's not one thing either Russia or China can do about it, however, Cuban commie losers are what's holding the military together, which is why Trump dropped the hammer on Castro with new economic challenges, including demanding they repay Americans whose businesses they stole.
In the meanwhile, Communist losers continue stealing from a Communist loser
So, will Trump invade Venezuela? I think President Trump realizes we're at the end of the Bretton Woods era, and there is absolutely no value in the U.S. invading Venezuela. Here's a great article by Doug Bandow entitled "No, America Should Not Intervene Militarily in Venezuela", I think is worth viewing.
This human disaster is a real expose of the morality of an international community that loves to criticize America. As Antonio Mora states in his article, Who’s Saving Venezuela? The U.S.? The UN? The Pope? No. But They Could. Here's How”
This is not America’s fight, or America’s responsibility! If America invades we will be villified as imperialist oppressors, and that will be a criticism that will go on forever. If we don't we'll be called cold and uncaring. But that will pass. It's a no win situation for the U.S. in this case. So, if that's the case, and it is, let's keep our boys alive and our money in the bank.
Let's face it, we don't need their oil, we don't need their friendship, or the friendship of any of our neighbors to the South. Should we be concerned over the terrible suffering the people of Venezuela are going through? Of course! We've tried sending food and Maduro pervented delivery. But it's not the responsibility of the U.S. to fix what they've brought on themselves!
Oh, one more thing. Where all the Hollywood losers who praised Chavez for his "socialist" vision for Venezuela? Maybe they're "Feeling the Bern"?
