Fox News has settled yet another sexual harassment lawsuit.
Emily Steel of the New York Times:
........"Tamara N. Holder has said that the network executive tried to force her to perform oral sex on him in February 2015 when the two were alone in his office, according to interviews with four people briefed on her account, and documents that detail her claims. Ms. Holder did not immediately report the episode to the company or the police, fearing that doing so would ruin her career, interviews and documents show"......Francisco Cortes, the vice president for Fox News Latino, was terminated......If true, this was stunningly repulsive behavior by Cortes, far worse than the complaints heard in public regarding Roger Ailes, who left the network he founded and guided after a $20 million settlement was awarded to Gretchen Carlson. Note that a settlement usually does not indicate that all the charges made in the lawsuit are acknowledged as true by the defendant. Still, the rash of settlements suggest that what the NYT reports about the newsroom culture at FNC probably is true:.............Read more
My Take - I just can't understand how anyone can think they can get away with this kind of thing any longer. But.....you just can't fix stupid....if it's all true. However, there are some things about this that bother me. This sort of action seems a lot like "he said/she said". Is there no corroborating testimony? Has he had a history of bad behavior? Has she had a history of bad behavior? Was there some kind of personal animosity between them? Of course we don't know what he told Fox when they investigated, and but it still seems - at this point - it's "he said/she said", and it appears he's going to sue Fox, and I would assume this gal also.
However there are a couple of things we actually know. She's an attorney, she took a year to report this, her contract ran out, she's a leftie, she's active in the Democratic party, she defends Obama and his actions, she had been accused of having an affair with Jesse Jackson Sr......another "he said/she said" action where someone claimed it was well known she was one of Jackson's mistresses. All claim the allegations were nothing more than personal attacks, but Jackson is a known womanizer, and leftists are notorious liars. And she's a leftist, so her credibility is certainly questionable.
On the other side of the coin: does Fox have some issues they need to deal with? You bet, and past history isn't on their side, but if they fired someone to avoid a bigger settlement or avoid confrontation - that isn't the answer. Who knows what the truth is, but Fox executives had better start getting on top of things. Oh, wait....it's the executives that seem to have the problem, isn't it? I have the solution. Hire me to be the boss and things will change.
Quickly!
