Truth, Justice and the American Way

May 12, 2019 By Robert Turner

The Baby Boomer Generation growing up in the 1950s was enamored by the transition of Superman from radio to television.  Millions of Americans during those postwar years turned on their black and white television sets weekly to hear the following exciting introduction:
“Faster than a speeding bullet; more powerful than a locomotive; able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look! Up in the sky; it's a bird. It's a plane. It's Superman! Yes it's Superman, strange visitor from another planet who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Superman who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, and who disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for Truth, Justice and the American Way.”..............
In history and government classes a sense of pride was instilled and the American Way was seen as valuable, meaningful and absolutely worth defending.  America was to them the difference maker that had for the second time in a half century defended the world against unspeakable tyranny and oppression.  Americans were rightfully proud of their country............Read more

My Take - The one very real problem that underlines all of this is our public education system.  We're turning out idiots who absolutely know so many things that simply aren't true, and worse yet, a huge percentage are incapable of reading, writing or working basic math properly. If the schools were turning out nuts and bolts, manufacturers would reject them as defective.

Why are American children so stunningly ignorant of American history, the Constitution and how the government is supposed to work? Ask them to name the three branches of American Government. Ask them to name the line of succession if the President is killed in office.  Ask them to name the Vice President, the Speaker of the House and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and what are their responsibilities and duties. By the way, the most senior Senator in the majority party is usually chosen for that job, and it's currently being held by Senator Grassley. What does he do and what are his responsibilities in that job? Not much!

Why do they think the federal judiciary is totally independent and can force everyone to obey their dictates, including the legislative and executive branches?

Ask them if they're aware the Constitution gives Congress the right to decide the jurisdiction of the federal judiciary. The federal judiciary do not have the authority to determine their jurisdiction themselves, nor can the Supreme Court, which is the only federal court that exists without Congressional approval because it was created by the Constitution.  All other federal courts are creations of the Congress.

For that matter how many are aware the Congress and the President can overturn any decision made by any court in the federal judiciary, including any decision by the Supreme Court, by passing a law that does so?
