Up until now, Brexit has been a dreary spectacle to watch because Britain's Tory leadership seems to be botching it so badly. What's so hard about just pulling up stakes and getting out? That was what the voters voted for. Doesn't 'leave' mean leave? There have been so many yes-but failures and failures to reach a sign-out deal that one almost doesn't want to watch. Why is this so hard for Britain's political leaders, now in talks with each other to cut a deal, to understand?
The latest news suggests that something big is happening on that other side of the ballot, the voter side, the one that voted to leave, as a result of this. Look at this poll cited in this Sky News report:..........Something big seems to be swimming under the surface, given numbers like these. This specter may just be worth watching now, because as Goodall notes, the revolution may just be getting started..........Read more
My Take - I think this cartoon really captures the essence of Brexit, the EU, Europe as a whole and clear incontrovertible proof that central planning for so many different groups with widely different needs and views is a disaster, and the EU policy on immigration is one of the biggest. I will say this with total assurance - EU immigration policies that allowed Muslims from Africa and the Middle East to flood into Europe was the issue that broke this camel's back. As far as I'm concerned I believe it was a matter of time before the EU collapsed anyway, but the horrors created by their immigration policy hurried the process immensely. As it turns out Hungary and Poland, both of whom resisted this policy, may be Europe's salvation. Otherwise, Europe is doomed.
Oh, one more thing. Don't have any doubts that the election and actions of Donald Trump aren't providing the intellectual and psychological fuel this movement.
