What Good Are Honors From Such People?

On Monday July 18th, 2o22 the "Pulitzer Prize Board Stands by Awards Given to NYT, WaPo for Russia Hoax Reports".   The correspondent who sent this to me commented:

 

They have zero shame and clearly don't give a rip about actual journalism, journalistic ethics, standards, or morals. They just like telling leftist fairy tales that push the agenda.

The author states:

 

In the last three years, the Pulitzer Board has received inquiries, including from former President Donald Trump, about submissions from The New York Times and The Washington Post on Russian interference in the U.S. election and its connections to the Trump campaign–submissions that jointly won the 2018 National Reporting prize......

 

Apparently, in spite of the evidence of history and the results of actual investigations that the Trump/Russia election interference charges were nothing short of a conspiracy by the Democrat party and their media allies was fraudulent and blatantly false, they're standing by their decisions for awarding both the New York Times and the Washington Post for their lying reports and reporters stating: 

“These inquiries prompted the Pulitzer Board to commission two independent reviews of the work submitted by those organizations to our National Reporting competition,” the board continued before announcing the establishment media outlets will keep their prizes.

According the them:

“The separate reviews converged in their conclusions: that no passages or headlines, contentions or assertions in any of the winning submissions were discredited by facts that emerged subsequent to the conferral of the prizes,”....In total, 20 articles were challenged with formal complaints. All 20 were ruled factual by the Pulitzer Prize Board......

This kind of corruption isn't anything new.  The fact of the matter is the news media became infested with communist agents going back to the beginning of the 20th century.  The faces have changed, but the underlying philosophy hasn't.  The mainstream media is corrupt to the core.  The New York Times support of Stalin during the 1930's when he starved millions of his people do death, is history.  History that's incontestable.  Their support of Castro, along with Don Hewitt and CBS,  was no less disgusting. 

Their Pulitzer Prize winning reporter, Walter Duranty, did everything in his power to deny  Stalin's crimes against his people, even calling reporter liars who tried to tell the truth......and the New York Times leaders knew it, and so did all the other reporters who covered Russia.  Most of whom didn't have the guts to fight the good fight.  

 

Duranty was a Satanist, a deviate and a liar of massive proportions who worked to hide the fact Stalin starved five million people do death.  Dennis Behreandt demonstrates all this in his article, Duranty’s Lethal Lies.

 

I published this piece twice, Blast From the Past: What is the News Worth Knowing and Why Don't We Know It?, and has a lot about the corruption of the press and their embrace of murdering commie dictators, and prize winning lying "journalists" like Walter Duranty.   The prize that needs to be awarded here is the Walter Duranty Award.  A prize for journalistic mendacity.   The New York Times is often called the Old Grey Lady, when in reality the New York Times is a Old Gray Hag, offering poisoned apples to the world. 

The thinking at the NYT, the Washington Post and the rest of these propaganda organs of the left, including the broadcast media, is irrational, misanthropic, morally defective and mentally deranged.  Just like the groups they support.  Mark this down. I predict the day will come when the New York Times, the Washington Post and the rest will cease publication, but it can't be soon enough.  If it weren't for the "alternative media" we would still be being misled by these liars, hypocrites and traitors to humanity.

 

In the movie  K-19: The Widowmaker, the captain meets with what was left of his crew to honor those who died for their comrades saying: 

 

For their courage I nominated these men for the title of hero of the soviet union. But the committee ruled that because it was not wartime, and because it was merely an accident, they were not worthy of the title hero. 

 

What good are honors from such people?

 

The same question should be asked regarding the Pulitzer Prize Committee.  What honorable journalist would want honors from ones such as this? 

 

 

Blast From the Past: What is the News Worth Knowing and Why Don't We Know It?

(Editor's Note:  I originally published this on Thursday, January 31, 2013, but in light of all that's going on I thought it worthwhile to republish this in order to understand everything that's happening has a historical foundation, structure and context.  And it goes back a long way, and the current administration and Democrat party is the culmination of that history.  RK)

For weeks I have been watching the news in stark amazement.  Am I the only one who noticed that an awful lot of hours have been devoted to a football player named Te’o, a cycler named Lance, Mrs. Obama’s new hair-do and Bob Beckel claiming that the only thing America “really” wanted to know during Steve Kroft’s interview with the President of the United States and Hillary Clinton was how they got worked things out together to get along. 

Say what?  

My mother, who turned 88 this year has a phrase for this kind of thing:  “That falls under the category of who gives a crap!”  Only she doesn't say crap.  Clearly a fit phrase for this whole last couple of weeks of news…. well .......actually most of what passes for ‘news’ from the main stream media. 

By comparison how much time has been devoted discussing about efforts by N. Korea and Iran to develop a nuclear delivery system. You know - two countries who were part of what President Bush called the Axis of Evil -which of course made the media smugly snicker.  

How about the potential military conflict between China and Japan over the Senkakus islands in the East China Sea?  Mali is just now coming to the media's attention.  I linked information about this  on October 13th.  On to Timbuktu! What passes for news is full of meaningless dribble that is an effort in misdirection from the facts about important realities that allow people to develop understanding and make good decisions. Instead we get news that is filled with lies of omission, lies of commission and outright bias. I wonder how these people sleep at night. The word jaded comes to mind when I think of the main stream media. 

Or is it more?

We have to understand that the media was heavily infiltrated with Stalinist sympathizers or outright Communists from the 1920's on. But not only the media!  During the Great Depression FDR expanded government tremendously when he created all those new agencies.  Agencies which very quickly became infiltrated by Communists, allowing them to act secretly as agents for the Soviet Union while on America's payroll.  Largely with the help secret communists acting as agents for Stalin like Harry Hopkins.   

The intercepted messages between the Soviet Union and their agents in the U.S. (known as the Venona intercepts) clearly showed that Hopkins was contact No. 19 who KGB defector Oleg Godievsky named as a Soviet intelligence agent. In fact he quoted another KGB operative Iskhak Akhmerov as saying that Hopkins was “their most important Soviet war-time agent in the United States”.  Hopkins was FDR’s closest aide, often seeing him daily, and even living in the White House.  

Hopkins was directly responsible for getting Roosevelt, who was totally unprepared and extremely ill, to go to Yalta and negotiate what would become the fate of Eastern Europe under Stalin's iron boot.   The fact of the matter is the Yalta meeting was a massive fraud that allowed for massive supplies to the Soviet Union, and it's even suspected shipments of uranium that helped the Soviets develop their A-bomb as quickly as they did. 

More importantly it was discovered by the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS), forerunner of the CIA, (both of which were infiltrated by Soviet agents during the war and after) that Stalin was "diverting American Lend-Lease supplies shipped to Russia via the Pacific to the control of the Japanese, in exchange for materials Moscow was receiving from Japan."  

When this betrayal was discovered by the OSS "they were ordered by highest authority: drop the subject, make no mention of it."  Apparently serving the interests of the Soviet Union was a far larger priority than serving American interests and saving American lives. 

In spite of all the propaganda from the media about FDR, he wasn’t the brightest pebble in the brook.  He, like his cousin Teddy, was a failure in his business ventures, and his understanding of leftist dictators was appalling, especially Stalin, which Hopkins nourished.   By the way; if you look Hopkins up in Wikipedia you would think was a wonderful public servant, instead of the traitor that he was. 

As for the media, there were people like I.F. Stone who was very influential in the U.S. among left wingers, and who, according to KGB general Oleg Kalugin, was “functioning as a Soviet intelligence asset”,  which was later confirmed through Venona.  It has been touted that he broke with the KGB, but apparently he hadn’t broken with his loyalty to Stalin or the Soviet Union or International Communism - take your pick - because he later re-established contact with them. 

Then there was Michael Straight, who became editor of the New Republic, a “left-liberal magazine …read by many influential people in government and elsewhere”, founded by his parents.  He was recruited into the Communist Party while attending Cambridge University in England, along with infamous Soviet spies Guy Burgess, Donald Maclean and Anthony Blunt.  All acting as Soviet agents!  

Later he claimed that he broke with the Soviets, but “for years he neglected to tell anyone about his Cambridge comrades, specifically Guy Burgess, whom Straight knew to be working at the British embassy in Washington during the Korean War and undoubtedly sharing Anglo-American military secrets with his Soviet bosses.”   We really do have to start thinking clearly about this.  Those who presumably left the Communist party yet refused to testify about those who remained were protecting Soviet agents because those who stayed had to be agents or else.  

He was also related by “marriage to two certified Soviet agents – Louis Dolivet and Gustavo Duran”, also about whom he wasn’t “conspicuously forthcoming”.  This was the editor of the New Republic “who regularly instructed his liberal readers on Cold War issues.”

Then there was “famed newspaperman Drew Person, whose sensational exposes in his syndicated column, appearing in hundreds of papers and widely broadcast radio show, made him a prominent and powerful figure”, who made a “specialty of attacking anti-Communist spokesman of the day in the executive branch and Congress.” 

Although I am not aware of any evidence that he personally was a Communist, or a Soviet agent, but two of his “legmen” were.  This would appear to be a classic case of infiltration, just as it was with FDR.  Many of these types were fellow travelers, or as Stalin described them, “useful idiots”.

When you look more deeply at that media you find startling facts that seem almost beyond belief.  On November 12, 2012 I wrote an article about the New York Times entitled; The Lady is a Hag.  I felt it was important to do some history on the media and the number one socialist dictator in the world - Fidel Castro.  What follows is from that article.

At the death of CBS news guru Don Hewitt Humberto Fontova wrote an article calling him a Castro Enabler because of “his media advance-work helping install a Stalinist regime in Cuba”.

He went on to say that:

Hewitt of CBS still seemed proud of his work as a Castro media auxiliary. During that interim, over 20,000 Cubans were murdered by firing squad and beaten or starved to death in forced labor camps. Another 70-80 thousand were ripped apart by sharks or drowned in the Florida straits (attempting to flee a nation that previously took in more immigrants per-capita than the U.S.

What does that have to do with the New York Times you may ask?   This is merely demonstrating how badly infested the main stream media is with leftist thinking, and has been for decades.   

Fontova went on to say that New York Times reporter Herbert Matthews “made Fidel Castro an international pop star on the front page of the world's most important newspaper. 

” “The February 1957 NYT's headline article proclaimed that, "Fidel Castro has strong ideas of liberty, democracy, social justice, the need to restore Cuba's Constitution....this amounts to a new deal for Cuba, radical, democratic and therefore anti-Communist."  That was a lie and they all knew it.

But that shouldn’t surprise anyone that the NYT would lie about socialist dictators.  Walter Duranty is in my opinion the epitome of infamy when it comes to journalistic corruption in favor of leftism.   Who was Walter Duranty? 

In this article by Roger Simon,“Announcing the Winners of the Inaugural Walter Duranty Prize", (a prize for journalistic mendacity) they state Duranty deliberately:

 “whitewashed the repressive evil deeds of the Soviet Union”…. most prominently in the case of the Ukrainian Holodomor: the forced starvation of between 1.2 and 12 million ethnic Ukrainians, depending on whose estimates you believe.  In other words, a lot of people.  

Duranty called that genocide “an exaggeration and malignant propaganda”.  This appeared in” newspaper of record”, the New York Times.  British author Malcolm Muggeridge called Duranty: “The greatest liar I have met in fifty years of journalism.”  

Duranty also made sure that the Soviets knew that the New York Times would “vet all reports about” the Soviet Union before it appeared in the NYT, “effectively making that newspaper a U.S. branch of Pravda, for a time anyway.”  Duranty won the Pulitizer Prize for his mendacity; a prize that the NYT refuses to return, and the prize committee refuses to revoke in spite of the now known truth of his actions.

Simon notes that polls have shown that sixty percent of the general public has little trust in the media.  He wonders who are the other forty percent?  Good question since it is clear that the media supports a movement that has murdered over one hundred million people, kept them starved, disease ridden, down trodden, abused and tyrannized since the terrible  beginning of that movement; The French Revolution.  What kind of person would have confidence in them? 

For the media to support leftist thinking is unconscionable.  The leftist media knows the truth and must be insane, otherwise how could they possibly support such thinking?  And now society begins to understand.  The people have been lied to by these powerful entities; they will not forget or forgive.  

As for the “Old Gray Lady”! I keep hearing seemingly conservative commentators who feel saddened that the Times is dying.  I think perhaps that insanity is an infectious disease in journalism, or perhaps they don't have the courage to be a rock in the current.  Heterodoxy isn't for the faint of heart!

No one can be characterized as a lady who, for all of these decades, has been guilty  of promoting such a vile cancerous philosophy as socialism.  The New York Times is not a lady, she's a hag, and much of the media is equally as vile.  When the “Old Gray Hag” disappears that will be a day for rejoicing.  Not only for ourselves and our children and grandchildren, but also for the 100 million poor suffering people who were slaughtered by the socialist monsters of the 20th century.  Monsters they supported!

This brings me back to my point.  What is the news worth knowing and why don’t we know it?  I know that it can't be a conspiracy to keep us uninformed, misinformed and ignorant because we all know "there is no such thing as a conspiracy".  And I know that must be so because my friends who don't read history books have told me so.  So then, if the answer is that there is no conspiracy, I still have to ask; what is the news worth knowing and why don't we know it?   

Gerard Jackson wrote this in his article, Is Journalism and Treason Joined at the Hip? (Editor's Note:  The link has been removed as it no longer works. RK) noting:

"Treason is an ugly word and an even uglier crime. In simple language treason is the act of betraying one’s country to those who would destroy it and enslave its people. This definition is so simple that leftwing sophisticated journalists sneer at it. To them treason is merely relative with one country’s traitor being another country’s hero. This is the appalling moral and intellectual state of current Western journalism. The moral rot runs so deep that one despairs of living long enough to see any improvement."

On any issue of consequence I feel that it is important to know the history, i.e., the events and characters involved with the issue.  Tell me the history and I will give you the answer and the history of the main stream media clearly shows who and what they are.  And they are not honorable! Some of the most prominent people in the main stream media and Hollywood have declared that Fidel Castro - a man who is clearly a mass murderer - is one of the greatest men in modern history.  Are we to believe his crimes aren’t known to these people?

Now the next questions every clear thinking person should be asking are these.  What are they promoting and what are their goals and why - and based on their past history can they be sane?

On Jan. 5, after American drones took out Iranian terrorist mastermind Gen. Qassem Soleimani, CNN's Brian Stelter launched into one of his Sunday-morning sermons, insisting that patriotism flows like a river in America's newsrooms. His definition might vary from yours, however.

Patriotism equals tough questioning, the "Reliable Sources" anchor stated in a tweet: "It is patriotic to ask for evidence. To question official accounts. ... It is patriotic to hold our leaders accountable."

There's nothing wrong with skeptical questions of our government. But why is it impossible to celebrate blowing up the man responsible for the deaths of untold thousands, including over 600 Americans? And why do the media so often fail to muster that same sort of skeptical questioning for the tyrants and thugs opposing American interests? Theirs is a long, sordid history of offering unchallenged platforms, and even buttery sympathy, to our enemies........To Read More.....

Another “Useful Idiot” Seeks to Prop Up Cuba’s Thuggish Regime by Regurgitating Propaganda

There’s a long and sordid history of people in Western nations acting as dupes and apologists for communism. This is especially the case with the wretchedly impoverished totalitarian outpost 90 miles south of Florida.

• President Obama lauded aspects of Cuba’s totalitarian regime when he visited in 2016.
• Jeffrey Sachs ranked Cuba higher on development goals than the United States.
• Jimmy Carter (and Jeremy Corbyn, Justin Trudeau, etc) gushed about Fidel Castro when the long-time dictator died.
• Numerous vapid celebrities have helped turn the thuggish and racist Che Guevera into a pop icon.

Based on what he wrote for the opinion pages of the New York Times, Nicholas Kristof belongs on that list of “useful idiots.”

Cuba…in health care…does an impressive job that the United States could learn from. …an American infant is, by official statistics, almost 50 percent more likely to die than a Cuban infant. By my calculations, that means that 7,500 American kids die each year because we don’t have as good an infant mortality rate as Cuba reports. …a major strength of the Cuban system is that it assures universal access. Cuba has the Medicare for All that many Americans dream about. …It’s also notable that Cuba achieves excellent health outcomes even though the American trade and financial embargo… Cuba overflows with doctors — it has three times as many per capita as the United States… Outsiders mostly say they admire the Cuban health system. The World Health Organization has praised it, and Ban Ki-moon, the former United Nations secretary general, described it as “a model for many countries.”

Kristof admits in his piece that there are critics who don’t believe the regime’s data, but it’s clear he doesn’t take their concerns seriously. And he definitely doesn’t share their data. So lets take a close look at the facts that didn’t appear in Kristof’s column. My first recommendation is to watch Johan Norberg’s video on the real truth about Cuba’s infant mortality.

But there’s so much more.

Jay Nordlinger authored the most comprehensive takedown of Cuba’s decrepit system back in 2007. Here are some of the highlights.

The Left has always had a deep psychological need to believe in the myth of Cuban health care. On that island, as everywhere else, Communism has turned out to be a disaster: economic, physical, and moral. Not only have persecution, torture, and murder been routine, there is nothing material to show for it. The Leninist rationalization was, “You have to break some eggs to make an omelet.”  

Orwell memorably replied, “Where’s the omelet?” There is never an omelet. …there is excellent health care on Cuba — just not for ordinary Cubans. …there is not just one system, or even two: There are three. The first is for foreigners who come to Cuba specifically for medical care. This is known as “medical tourism.” The tourists pay in hard currency… The second health-care system is for Cuban elites — the Party, the military, official artists and writers, and so on. In the Soviet Union, these people were called the “nomenklatura.”  

And their system, like the one for medical tourists, is top-notch. Then there is the real Cuban system, the one that ordinary people must use — and it is wretched. Testimony and documentation on the subject are vast. Hospitals and clinics are crumbling. Conditions are so unsanitary, patients may be better off at home, whatever home is. If they do have to go to the hospital, they must bring their own bedsheets, soap, towels, food, light bulbs — even toilet paper. And basic medications are scarce. …The equipment that doctors have to work with is either antiquated or nonexistent.  

Doctors have been known to reuse latex gloves — there is no choice. …So deplorable is the state of health care in Cuba that old-fashioned diseases are back with a vengeance. These include tuberculosis, leprosy, and typhoid fever. And dengue, another fever, is a particular menace.

Wow, I guess shortages extend well beyond toilet paper.  Next we have some very sobering data from a 2004 article in Canada’s National Post.

…a small bottle of tetracycline costs US$5 and a tube of cortisone cream will set you back as much as US$25. But neither are available at the local pharmacy, which is neat and spotless, but stocks almost nothing. Even the most common pharmaceutical items, such as Aspirin and rubbing alcohol, are conspicuously absent. …Antibiotics, one of the most valuable commodities on the cash-strapped Communist island, are in extremely short supply and available only on the black market. Aspirin can be purchased only at government-run dollar stores, which carry common medications at a huge markup in U.S. dollars. This puts them out of reach of most Cubans, who are paid little and in pesos.  

Their average wage is 300 pesos per month, about $12. …tourist hospitals in Cuba are well-stocked with the latest equipment and imported medicines, said a Cuban pediatrician, who did not want to be identified. …”Tourists have everything they need,… But for Cubans, it’s different. Unless you work with tourists or have a relative in Miami sending you money, you will not be able to get what you need if you are sick in Cuba. As a doctor, I find it disgusting.”

And here’s some scholarly research from Katherine Hirschfeld at the University of Oklahoma (h/t: Scott Johnson).

…the Cuban government continues to respond to international criticism of its human rights record by citing…praise for its achievements in health and medicine…the unequivocally positive descriptions of the Cuban health care system in the social science literature are somewhat misleading. In the late 1990s, I conducted over nine months of qualitative ethnographic and archival research in Cuba.  

During that time I shadowed physicians in family health clinics, conducted formal and informal interviews with a number of health professionals, lived in local communities, and sought to participate in everyday life as much as possible. Throughout the course of this research, I found a number of discrepancies between the way the Cuban health care system has been described in the scholarly literature, and the way it appears to be described and experienced by Cubans themselves. …After just a few months of research, …it became increasingly obvious that many Cubans did not appear to have a very positive view of the health care system themselves.  

A number of people complained to me informally that their doctors were unhelpful, that the best clinics and hospitals only served political elites and that scarce medical supplies were often stolen from hospitals and sold on the black market. Further criticisms were leveled at the politicization of medical care… Public criticism of the government is a crime in Cuba, and penalties are severe.  

Formally eliciting critical narratives about health care would be viewed as a criminal act both for me as a researcher, and for people who spoke openly with me. …One of the most readily apparent problems with the health care system in Cuba is the severe shortage of medicines, equipment, and other supplies. …Many Cubans (including a number of health professionals) also had serious complaints about the intrusion of politics into medical treatment and health care decision-making.

Three academics at Texas Tech University also found very troubling data when they investigated the nation’s health system (h/t: David Henderson).

With 11.1% of GDP dedicated to health care and 0.8% of the population working as physicians, a substantial amount of resources is directed towards reducing infant mortality and increasing longevity.  

An economy with centralized economic planning by government like that of Cuba can force more resources into an industry than its population might desire in order to achieve improved outcomes in that industry at the expense of other goods and services the population might more highly desire. … 

Physicians are given health outcome targets to meet or face penalties. This provides incentives to manipulate data. Take Cuba’s much praised infant mortality rate for example. In most countries, the ratio of the numbers of neonatal deaths and late fetal deaths stay within a certain range of each other as they have many common causes and determinants. … 

Cuba, with a ratio of 6, was a clear outlier. This skewed ratio is evidence that physicians likely reclassified early neonatal deaths as late fetal deaths, thus deflating the infant mortality statistics and propping up life expectancy. Cuban doctors were re-categorizing neonatal deaths as late fetal deaths in order for doctors to meet government targets for infant mortality. …Physicians often perform abortions without clear consent of the mother, raising serious issues of medical ethics, when ultrasound reveals fetal abnormalities because ‘otherwise it might raise the infant mortality rate’. … 

The role of Cuban economic and political oppression in coercing ‘good’ health outcomes merits further study.

The bottom line is that Cuba is a hellhole and statistics from a repressive regime can’t be trusted.
Though the real message of today’s column is that we should be revolted by people who are willing to be dupes for totalitarianism.

And I can understand why people willing to debase themselves in that way are so sensitive to criticism.

The New York Times has a pathetic history of covering up for the crimes of communism, most notably Walter Duranty, who was given a Pulitzer Prize in 1932 even though he despicably lied in his reports to promote Stalin’s horrid regime. He even covered up Stalin’s holocaust of the Ukrainian people. Even though Duranty’s evil actions are now public knowledge, the Pulitzer Prize Board has not revoked the award. The New York Times, to its credit, at least has acknowledged that Duranty lied to promote Stalin’s brutal dictatorship. One wonders if the newspaper eventually will apologize for Kristof.

P.P.S. I’m also not impressed that a former Secretary General of the U.N. endorsed Cuba’s health care system. After all, it was an official from the U.N. who praised the lack of obesity among the starving people of North Korea.

Newsflash from The New York Times: Women may have starved under socialist regimes, but their orgasms were out of this world!

That's the creepy gist of one of the Grey Lady's recent essays this summer hailing the "Red Century." The paper's ongoing series explores "the history and legacy of Communism, 100 years after the Russian Revolution." When its essayists aren't busy championing the great sex that oppressed women enjoyed in miserable Eastern Bloc countries, they're extolling Lenin's fantabulous conservationist programs and pimping "Communism for Kids" propaganda.

Since this is back-to-school season, it's the perfect time to teach your children about faux journalism at the Fishwrap of Record. As the publication's pretentious own new slogan asserts, "The truth is more important than ever."

While the Times hyperventilates about the dangers of President Trump's "art of fabrication" and "Russian collusion," this is the same organization whose famed correspondent in Russia, Walter Duranty, won a Pulitzer Prize for spreading fake news denying Joseph Stalin's Ukrainian genocide.

An estimated 10 million men, women and children starved in the Stalin-engineered silent massacre between 1932-1933, also known as the Holodomor. What is the News Worth Knowing and Why Don't We Know It?

For weeks I have been watching the news in stark amazement.  Am I the only one who noticed that an awful lot of hours have been devoted to a football player named Te’o, a cycler named Lance, Mrs. Obama’s new hair-do and Bob Beckel claiming that the only thing America “really” wanted to know during Steve Kroft’s interview with the President of the United States and Hillary Clinton was how they got worked things out together to get along. 

Say what?  

My mother, who turned 88 this year has a phrase for this kind of thing:  “That falls under the category of who gives a crap!”  Only she doesn't say crap.  Clearly a fit phrase for this whole last couple of weeks of news…. well .......actually most of what passes for ‘news’ from the main stream media. 

By comparison how much time has been devoted discussing about efforts by N. Korea and Iran to develop a nuclear delivery system. You know - two countries who were part of what President Bush called the Axis of Evil -which of course made the media smugly snicker.  How about the potential military conflict between China and Japan over the Senkakus islands in the East China Sea?  Mali is just now coming to the media's attention.  I linked information about this  on October 13th.  On to Timbuktu! What passes for news is full of meaningless dribble that is an effort in misdirection from the facts about important realities that allow people to develop understanding and make good decisions.   Instead we get news that is filled with lies of omission, lies of commission and outright bias.  I wonder how these people sleep at night.   The word jaded comes to mind when I think of the main stream media. 

Or is it more?

We have to understand that the media was heavily infiltrated with Stalinist sympathizers or outright Communists from the 1920's on. But not only the media!  During the Great Depression FDR expanded government tremendously when he created all those new agencies.  Agencies which very quickly became infiltrated by Communists, allowing them to act secretly as agents for the Soviet Union while on America's payroll.  Largely with the help secret communists acting as agents for Stalin like Harry Hopkins.   

The intercepted messages between the Soviet Union and their agents in the U.S. (known as the Venona intercepts) clearly showed that Hopkins was contact No. 19 who KGB defector Oleg Godievsky named as a Soviet intelligence agent. In fact he quoted another KGB operative Iskhak Akhmerov as saying that Hopkins was:

 “their most important Soviet war-time agent in the United States”.  

Hopkins was FDR’s closest aide, often seeing him daily, and even living in the White House.  

Hopkins was directly responsible for getting Roosevelt, who was totally unprepared and extremely ill, to go to Yalta and negotiate what would become the fate of Eastern Europe under Stalin's iron boot. As Reed Irvine states in his January 5, 2000 article, “Harry Hopkins: Traitor, Not Hero”:

 “Hopkins said the Russians had been "reasonable and farseeing." Robert Sherwood, a Roosevelt speechwriter, called Yalta "a monstrous fraud." Hopkins had been instrumental in our supplying, with no conditions, the arms that enabled Stalin to defeat the Germans. He helped seal their control of Eastern Europe, and he is suspected of having authorized shipments of uranium that helped them develop their A-bomb."

More importantly it was discovered by the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS), forerunner of the CIA, (both of which were infiltrated by Soviet agents during the war and after) that Stalin was:

"diverting American Lend-Lease supplies shipped to Russia via the Pacific to the control of the Japanese, in exchange for materials Moscow was receiving from Japan."  

When this betrayal was discovered by the OSS:

"they were ordered by highest authority: drop the subject, make no mention of it."  

Apparently serving the interests of the Soviet Union was a far larger priority than serving American interests and saving American lives. 

In spite of all the propaganda from the media about FDR he wasn’t the brightest pebble in the brook.  He, like his cousin Teddy was a failure in his business ventures, and his understanding of leftist dictators was appalling, especially Stalin, which Hopkins nourished.   By the way; if you look Hopkins up in Wikipedia you would think was a wonderful public servant, instead of the traitor that he was. 

As for the media, there were people like I.F. Stone who was very influential in the U.S. among left wingers, and who was according to KGB general Oleg Kalugin was:

“functioning as a Soviet intelligence asset”.

Which was later confirmed through Venona.  It has been touted that he broke with the KGB, but apparently he hadn’t broken with his loyalty to Stalin or the Soviet Union or International Communism - take your pick - because he later re-established contact with them. 

Then there was Michael Straight, who became editor of the New Republic:

 “a left-liberal magazine …read by many influential people in government and elsewhere”.

Which was founded by his parents.  He was recruited into the Communist Party while attending Cambridge University in England, along with infamous Soviet spies Guy Burgess, Donald Maclean and Anthony Blunt.  All acting as Soviet agents!  Later he claimed that he broke with the Soviets, but:

“for years he neglected to tell anyone about his Cambridge comrades, specifically Guy Burgess, whom Straight knew to be working at the British embassy in Washington during the Korean War and undoubtedly sharing Anglo-American military secrets with his Soviet bosses.”   

We really do have to start thinking clearly about this.  Those who presumably left the Communist party yet refused to testify about those who remained were protecting Soviet agents because those who stayed had to be agents or else.  

He was related by “marriage to two certified Soviet agents – Louis Dolivet and Gustavo Duran”, also about whom he wasn’t “conspicuously forthcoming”.  This was the editor of the New Republic “who regularly instructed his liberal readers on Cold War issues.”

Then there was:

“famed newspaperman Drew Person, whose sensational exposes in his syndicated column, appearing in hundreds of papers and widely broadcast radio show, made him a prominent and powerful figure”, [who made a] “specialty of attacking anti-Communist spokesman of the day in the executive branch and Congress.” 

Although I am not aware of any evidence that he personally was a Communist, or a Soviet agent, two of his “legmen” were.  This would appear to be a classic case of infiltration, just as it was with FDR.  Many of these types were fellow travelers, or as Stalin described them, “useful idiots”.

When you look more deeply at that media you find startling facts that seem almost beyond belief.  On November 12, 2012 I wrote an article about the New York Times entitled; The Lady is a Hag.  I felt it was important to do some history on the media and the number one socialist dictator in the world - Fidel Castro.  What follows is from that article.

At the death of CBS news guru Don Hewitt Humberto Fontova wrote an article calling him a Castro Enabler because of:

“his media advance-work helping install a Stalinist regime in Cuba”.

He went on to say that:

 “Hewitt of CBS still seemed proud of his work as a Castro media auxiliary. During that interim, over 20,000 Cubans were murdered by firing squad and beaten or starved to death in forced labor camps. Another 70-80 thousand were ripped apart by sharks or drowned in the Florida straits (attempting to flee a nation that previously took in more immigrants per-capita than the U.S.”

What does that have to do with the New York Times you may ask?   This is merely demonstrating how badly infested the main stream media is with leftist thinking, and has been for decades.   

Fontova went on to say that New York Times reporter Herbert Matthews:

“made Fidel Castro an international pop star on the front page of the world's most important newspaper.” “The February 1957 NYT's headline article proclaimed that, "Fidel Castro has strong ideas of liberty, democracy, social justice, the need to restore Cuba's Constitution....this amounts to a new deal for Cuba, radical, democratic and therefore anti-Communist."   

That was a lie and they all knew it.

But that shouldn’t surprise anyone that the NYT would lie about socialist dictators.  Walter Duranty is in my opinion the epitome of infamy when it comes to journalistic corruption in favor of leftism.   Who was Walter Duranty? 

 In this article by Roger Simon, “Announcing the Winners of the Inaugural Walter Duranty Prize", (a prize for journalistic mendacity) they state that Duranty deliberately:

 “whitewashed the repressive evil deeds of the Soviet Union”…. most prominently in the case of the Ukrainian Holodomor: the forced starvation of between 1.2 and 12 million ethnic Ukrainians, depending on whose estimates you believe.  In other words, a lot of people.  Duranty called that genocide “an exaggeration and malignant propaganda”.   

This appeared in” newspaper of record”, the New York Times.  British author Malcolm Muggeridge called Duranty: 

“The greatest liar I have met in fifty years of journalism.” 

 Duranty also made sure that the Soviets knew that the New York Times would “vet all reports about” the Soviet Union before it appeared in the NYT:

“effectively making that newspaper a U.S. branch of Pravda, for a time anyway.”  

Duranty won the Pulitzer Prize for his mendacity; a prize that the NYT refuses to return, and the prize committee refuses to revoke in spite of the now known truth of his actions.

Simon notes that polls have shown that sixty percent of the general public has little trust in the media.  He wonders who are the other forty percent?  Good question since it is clear that the media supports a movement that has murdered over one hundred million people, kept them starved, disease ridden, down trodden, abused and tyrannized since the terrible  beginning of that movement; The French Revolution.  What kind of person would have confidence in them? 

For the media to support leftist thinking is unconscionable.  The leftist media knows the truth and must be insane, otherwise how could they possibly support such thinking?  And now society begins to understand.  The people have been lied to by these powerful entities; they will not forget or forgive.  

As for the “Old Gray Lady”! I keep hearing seemingly conservative commentators who feel saddened that the Times is dying.  I think perhaps that insanity is an infectious disease in journalism, or perhaps they don't have the courage to be a rock in the current.  Heterodoxy isn't for the faint of heart!

No one can be characterized as a lady who, for all of these decades, has been guilty  of promoting such a vile cancerous philosophy as socialism.  She's not a lady, she's a hag, and much of the media is equally as vile.  When the “Old Gray Hag” disappears that will be a day for rejoicing.  Not only for ourselves and our children and grandchildren, but also for the 100 million poor suffering people who were slaughtered by the socialist monsters of the 20th century.  Monsters they supported!

This brings me back to my point.  What is the news worth knowing and why don’t we know it?  I know that it can't be a conspiracy to keep us uninformed, misinformed and ignorant because we all know "there is no such thing as a conspiracy".  And I know that must be so because my friends who don't read history books have told me so.  So then, if the answer is that there is no conspiracy, I still have to ask; what is the news worth knowing and why don't we know it?   

Gerard Jackson wrote this in his article Is Journalism and Treason Now Joined at the Hip?, he  notes:

"Treason is an ugly word and an even uglier crime. In simple language treason is the act of betraying one’s country to those who would destroy it and enslave its people. This definition is so simple that leftwing sophisticated journalists sneer at it. To them treason is merely relative with one country’s traitor being another country’s hero. This is the appalling moral and intellectual state of current Western journalism. The moral rot runs so deep that one despairs of living long enough to see any improvement."

On any issue of consequence I feel that it is important to know the history, i.e., the events and characters involved with the issue.  Tell me the history and I will give you the answer and the history of the main stream media clearly shows who and what they are.  And they are not honorable! Some of the most prominent people in the main stream media and Hollywood have declared that Fidel Castro - a man who is clearly a mass murderer - is one of the greatest men in modern history.  Are we to believe his crimes aren’t known to these people?

Now the next questions every clear thinking person should be asking are these.  What are they promoting and what are their goals and why - and based on their past history can they be sane?
