Don’t Send Aid to Afghanistan

By Daniel Greenfield @ Sultan Knish Blog

An earthquake hit Afghanistan. The Taliban are claiming 800 dead and thousands injured. The Europeans and other countries are promising to send aid.

And the United States of America should refuse to join them.

Casualty numbers coming out of the Taliban are as worthless as those coming from Hamas in Gaza or the Houthis in Yemen. Terrorists always lie, trying to make us feel sorry and guilty, just before they try to kill us. And the nonprofits, including the UN, that work in those areas are rotten with terrorists and their useful idiots, and should never be believed about anything.

But even if half of Afghanistan were dead or dying, we should not send a single penny because none of the aid will go to earthquake victims, no more than the food sent to Gaza or Yemen went to regular people, it will go to the terrorists who use it to fund their Islamic terror state.

And a generation after 9/11, the Taliban are not only back in power, but they are harboring Al Qaeda and any money we send can be used to harbor the terrorists who continue to kill us.

The latest SIGAR (Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction) report documented that the Taliban, like Islamic terrorists everywhere, divert aid, tax nonprofits, force them to hire their own terrorists as employees and use the aid we send as an asset.

The Taliban don’t care about their own people, that’s why they used them as human shields when fighting us, it’s why they use them as human shields now because they know we care. The sight of a crying child in Afghanistan, Yemen, Gaza or anywhere in the world touches us.

But to our enemies, it’s just another weapon.

Our efforts to rebuild Afghanistan paradoxically financed the Taliban’s comeback. The more we tried to send food, open schools and build wells, the more money flowed to the Taliban. While our idiot politicians and generals insisted that we could “win the hearts and minds” of the Afghans by showering them with aid, the Taliban took that aid and bought themselves an army.

We tried to “win hearts and minds”. The Taliban won the war. And got all the bodies.

After Afghanistan fell, we should have learned a lesson, but as Freedom Center Investigates documented, the Biden administration sent $3.7 billion to Afghanistan after the takeover.

Biden stole money from 9/11 victims for the Taliban, he arranged to print currency for the Taliban, booked seats on Osama’s old airline and enabled the shipment of billions in hundred dollar bills via the United Nations. No Saudi billionaire was half as clever at financing Islamic terrorists as the Obama and the Biden administrations were at abusing taxpayer money.

Since Trump took office, the Taliban have been struggling. They were even desperate enough to go to a global warming conference to ask for money. The earthquake may be catastrophic for the ordinary Afghans affected by it, but it’s a blessing for the Taliban who will now be able to cash in on aid from the European Union, Japan and anyone stupid enough to send help.

America is the motherlode. Our politicians dispense foreign aid on a scale no one else can. We were the gushing well that the UN and dozens of ‘humanitarian groups’ used as the pipeline to aid terrorists worldwide. President Trump and DOGE began putting a stop to it. And that’s good.

Sending aid to enemy nations doesn’t help: it makes things much worse every single time.

When the Communists took over the Soviet Union and a famine broke out, they might have lost power, but the United States organized a massive famine relief effort, which, at least under Hoover was intended to keep Communists out of the loop, but under FDR no longer did, and the result was that the Communists remained in power for generations leading to millions dead and a Cold War that might have climaxed in a nuclear war that could have destroyed America.

After Mao’s Great Famine in China, it was Canada’s turn to bail out the Communist dictatorship with massive shipments of wheat even as the PRC was sending its ‘foreign aid’ to Cuba. The end result was that the People’s Republic of China survived, industrialized and became a grave threat to the free world. That may yet lead to a devastating world war or the fall of the West.

Our insistence on aiding the Muslim world made it wealthy enough to finance terrorism and spread the influence of its violent and hateful doctrines to our own nations and cities. After a generation of failed foreign policy operations in which we could literally track how our aid went into the hands of terrorists, there are plenty of politicians and professional humanitarians who are already demanding that we send aid to Afghanistan because surely it will be different now.

These claims are accompanied by outright lies, long since disproven, that the aid doesn’t go to terrorists or benefit terrorists, and that by sending aid we can liberalize the Taliban or undermine their rule. All of this is absolutely false. SIGAR and journalists, including those at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, have long since documented how the Taliban appropriates aid.

Sending aid will not ‘liberalize’ the Taliban. The Taliban initially pretended to be more moderate in the hopes of extracting more aid from us. When they saw that it wasn’t coming, they stopped pretending and began publicly lashing women, but we should not confuse this deception with any meaningful change in the nature of the Islamic supremacist regime that runs Afghanistan.

The Taliban tell us what they think will make us give them money. It doesn’t reflect either their actual nature or the reality on the ground. What we know about Afghanistan comes from the Taliban and from employees of ‘humanitarian groups’ who are also members of the Taliban.

These ‘UN Taliban’ brief western supervisors who then relay this information in quotes to the media. This method of whitewashing terrorist propaganda is also routinely used in Gaza. By putting westerners, especially women, from groups like the UN or the Red Cross out front, viewers believe that they’re relaying their own experiences, when in reality they’re usually nowhere near the affected areas, they’re closely supervised by the terrorists when they do travel, and they are handfed reports by their ‘employees’ who actually work for the Taliban.

Finally, sending aid will not only not undermine Taliban rule, it will secure it because the Islamic supremacist regime will use that aid to help its own supporters, and to bribe clans and groups into supporting it. The Communist regimes in Russia and China pretended that the western food was actually coming from their own agricultural projects and proved the power of Communism.

We did not discredit Communism by providing aid to Communists and we won’t discredit Islam by providing aid to Islamists. If we want to defeat our enemies, one elementary place to start is by not sending them aid no matter how much they whine, wail or guilt trip us. Guilt is the great industry of the postmodern West. It’s also the religion of those with no religions.

But sending aid to Afghanistan is not merciful to those living there or to us. Afghanistan’s best hope and our best interest is that the Jihadists running it should fall. The Taliban’s best hope and interest is that we send them ‘humanitarian aid’ that they use to fund their terrorist regime.

We tried defeating them with aid, but the best hope of beating them is to end all aid.

$3.5B From 9/11 Victims Being Held by U.S. for the Taliban

By Daniel Greenfield, @ Sultan Knish Blog

Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the United States has sent over $3.8 billion to Afghanistan. While President Trump has frozen most U.S. aid to Afghanistan, $120 million was still dispatched this quarter. And, more problematically, the UN continues to send billions in American hundred dollar bills to ‘capitalize’ the Taliban’s bank.

The Taliban have been auctioning off this money in currency auctions to keep the Afghan currency high against the dollar. This money, along with billions in seized weapons provided by the United States to the former Afghan government, has allowed the Taliban to finance Al Qaeda’s terrorist operations.Another $3.5 billion in funds stolen by the Biden administration from 9/11 survivors continues to be held in the Afghan Fund that will potentially also be used to capitalize the Taliban’s bank.

These shocking events, first reported by the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s investigative journalism in the aftermath of Biden’s panicked retreat, have been confirmed yet again by the Afghan war government watchdog known as SIGAR in its latest report on Afghanistan.

The USAID shutdown has kept billions of dollars in taxpayer money from continuing to go to Taliban controlled territories, but the UN and its nonprofits, some of which receive massive amounts of taxpayer funding for other projects, continue to feed a fortune into Afghanistan.

The UN’s World Food Programme, headed by Cindy McCain, after lying about a famine in Gaza to benefit the Hamas Islamic terrorist group, has taken to claiming that millions will die unless we continue funding its operations in Afghanistan.

The WFP claimed that President Trump’s aid pause “could amount to a death sentence for millions of people facing extreme hunger and starvation.” Similar false claims were made on behalf of the Houthi terrorists in Yemen and the Hamas terrorists in Gaza. In both cases there was no actual famine and the terrorist groups were seizing and profiting from foreign aid while using the false claims of famine to deter counterterrorist operations by the Saudis and Israel.

And while most U.S. direct funds have been currently cut off, the American University of Afghanistan continues to spend money even though it is no longer in Afghanistan. Instead it operates in the Islamic terrorist state of Qatar, an ally of the Taliban, Hamas, and the Muslim Brotherhood, and taxpayers continue to subsidize Afghan students in Qatar and Turkey.

But ending US foreign aid to the Taliban terrorist state is only the beginning. SIGAR quotes UN reports confirming that the “Taliban utilized al Qaeda” and other Islamic terrorist groups “in operations against armed anti-Taliban opposition groups” and that “Al Qaeda affiliates in Afghanistan” still “continued to have access to weapons seized from the former Afghan

National Army” and that an Al Qaeda affiliate had gotten its hands on BGM-71 TOW missiles.

Furthermore, “the Taliban army chief of staff said the regime planned to provide the army with more advanced weapons and equipment, but did not specify from where or whom it could come.” The Taliban, in violation of its promises in the Doha accords in Qatar, from which it has since withdrawn, is not only harboring, but arming and equipping Al Qaeda.

That was the cause of September 11 and our subsequent intervention in Afghanistan.

While the United States need not directly go to war with the Taliban over it, we should at the very least block all further money from organizations that benefit from our funding, including the UN, from going to Afghanistan, and should treat any money being directed to Afghanistan, especially in U.S. dollars as a violation of the laws banning the funding of terrorism even if that money is supposedly being used for humanitarian aid. When humanitarian aid has been used to cover printing money on behalf of the Taliban and shipping money to the Taliban, the term has become a meaningless excuse for propping up an Islamic terrorist state sponsor of Al Qaeda.

The UN should be blocked from accessing further dollars from the Federal Reserve Bank in New York to ship to Afghanistan. According to SIGAR, the World Bank also reported that the Taliban’s currency rose sharply around Islamic holidays due to the “increased inflows of U.S. dollars during Ramadan and Eid,” which “boosted the supply of U.S. dollars and increased

the demand for local currency.” This is likely due to Afghan ‘refugees’ in the United States contriving to send money home. The Trump administration has taken the right course in seeking to remove the over 100,000 Afghan ‘refugees’ illegally imported by Biden during his retreat.

Recent outbreaks of Afghan violence in the United States with several stabbing incidents in Michigan, Texas and even Pennsylvania Dutch Country make their removal more urgent.

Anyone residing in the United States directing money to Afghanistan through any means should be prosecuted, deported if they are not a citizen, and denaturalized and deported if they are.

Finally, President Trump can remedy one of the most outrageous historic injustices imaginable by the Biden administration which fought 9/11 victims in court and seized $3.5 billion that should have gone to compensate the families of victims and placed it in an ‘Afghan Fund’ for the benefit of the murderous Islamic regime that harbored the killers of their families.

In 2022, Freedom Center Investigates exclusively reported that the Biden administration had seized $3.5 billion in wealth now owned by the Taliban in the United States to keep it from being awarded in a judgement to 9/11 family members. The money has now appreciated to nearly $4 billion and should be brought back to the U.S. and used to benefit Americans. Not terrorists.

Biden, who became the first president to skip a 9/11 commemoration, was uniquely friendly to Islamic terrorists and uniquely hostile to the memory of the September 11 attacks, had focused on closing Gitmo, freeing many Al Qaeda terrorists including an alternate 9/11 hijacker, an Al Qaeda ally who plotted to smuggle nukes into the country and many other major terrorists.

The billions sent to Afghanistan under Biden were a betrayal. While most of the money, like most of the weapons left behind, cannot be recovered, the Afghan Fund money can.

The Trump administration did the right thing by ending most of the flow of our money to the Taliban. SIGAR’s audit found that nearly half of the “implementing partners” distributing “aid” in Afghanistan had signed memorandums of understanding with the Taliban. Outrageously, the State Department allowed this to go on and the audit found that “State is not required to review the MOUs that implementing partners sign with the Taliban.” The humanitarian aid groups claiming that everyone in Afghanistan will die unless we fund them have been in bed with terrorists. And all of this went on with the complicity of the Biden administration whose USAID staffers actively obstructed any investigations of their ties to terrorists. They can never be trusted again. Neither can any of the organizations that signed memorandums with the Taliban.

The United States officially left Afghanistan, yet remained behind providing billions in foreign aid, printing and shipping currency to the state sponsor of Al Qaeda. It’s time for the American presence, including the the American University of Afghanistan, which is no longer in Afghanistan, to leave. It is not America’s business to provide foreign aid to the Afghans, to maintain a fund on their behalf or to allow organizations that we fund to aid Islamic terrorists.

Any money sent to Afghanistan aids the Taliban which in turn aids Al Qaeda. It’s time for us to leave Afghanistan and take the last of our money with us before we finance another 9/11.

Taliban Blame Afghanistan’s Problems on Global Warming

After three decades of wrecking Afghanistan, the Taliban finally found someone to blame for the miserable state of their Islamic emirate. In February, a bunch of bearded men gathered at one of the country’s remaining universities for the Taliban’s first International Climate Change Conference (no women or infidels allowed) under Mullah Abdul Kabir to cope with the crisis.

According to the Taliban and its experts, there wasn’t enough water or there was too much flooding, the land is bad, and it’s the fault of someone else. Probably America.

“Just like they invaded our country, they’ve invaded our climate,” Lutfullah Khairkhwa, the Taliban’s deputy higher education minister, who has a degree in the Koran, claimed.

Khairkhwa then demanded that rich countries give the Taliban money in compensation for all the ‘climate change’ they inflicted on them. And that is what everything really comes down to.

Third world countries embraced the global warming hoax because it allowed them to demand cash from industrialized nations to subsidize the corrupt lifestyles of their elites.
The Taliban grew rich on American foreign aid. And even after Biden’s retreat, over $2 billion in aid has been directed to Afghanistan. But that’s not nearly enough for the terrorist group running the country.

The deputy director of the Environmental Protection Agency of the Islamic Emirate Abdul Salam Haqqani, who shares a last name with the Al Qaeda Haqqani network running parts of Kabul, blamed global warming for destroying 3% of Afghanistan’s forests. The head of the global warming department at the Taliban’s EPA also wanted $20 billion to deal with the problem.

Before the Taliban takeover, nearly a billion dollars in assorted international ‘green’ projects had been promised, but not delivered. The Islamic terrorist regime would understandably like to get its hands on some of that money. For now millions of Euros are still being directed by the Europeans to ‘green’ projects in Afghanistan, but that’s far short of the billions the Taliban want.

According to a Taliban EPA official, “Afghanistan is the most affected country in the world from the bad effects of climate change. Therefore, it is the right of Afghanistan to help Afghans in the fight against climate change; While 32 Afghan projects in the field of climate change have been postponed by donor institutions, which should be started and implemented as soon as possible.”

The Taliban want to dig into the UN’s Green Climate Fund (GCF) with its fat billions and to gain access to the COP summits at which UN officials and green special interests trade the endorsement of their anti-industrial agenda for bribes. These bribes are how a global ‘consensus’ was manufactured that human industrial activity was destroying the planet.

International bodies have demanded that the Taliban stop harboring Al Qaeda and stop oppressing women to get access to the green goodies, but that would contravene Islam. Environmentalist figures like John Kerry have ignored China’s human rights violations in the name of global warming collaboration so why, the Taliban figure, should they be left behind.

Around the same time that the Taliban held their global warming conference, UN Secretary-General António Guterres hosted a summit of Afghanistan envoys at the home of the Islamic terrorist backers in Qatar.

UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, a Nigerian official under the Islamic regime of the former dictator Muhammadu Buhari, urged “baby steps to put us back on the pathway to recognition”.

A report by UN Special Coordinator for Afghanistan Feridun Sinirlioglu, a diplomat from the Turkish Islamist terror state, issued a report in favor of “a method of engagement” that “acknowledges the political realities in Afghanistan today.” And the political realities according to Islamists and their UN allies require making deals with the Taliban on a variety of areas.

That includes “security cooperation” with an Islamic terrorist organization allied with Al Qaeda, and updating the sanctions list to “make the sanctions regime more relevant to current realities.”

But, most importantly, cooperation on “climate”.

Eventually it means American taxpayers will be expected to foot the bill to save Afghanistan from the ‘climate’. In reality this will mean continuing to funnel money to the Taliban.

The Turkish diplomat’s UN report held out the “expansion of international assistance towards more regular levels and types of development aid, including as relating to infrastructure, and technical dialogue and cooperation” and the “recapitalization of the Da Afghanistan Bank.”

And then the Taliban would be the beneficiaries of the same kind of aid we were providing to the pre-existing government that they destroyed. And America would be footing the terrorist bill.

The Taliban takeover did not stop the endless flow of foreign aid to the terrorist territory. Tens of millions of dollars continue to flow into Afghanistan on a monthly basis. For example, the World Bank approved an $84 million grant in April, in coordination with the UN’s coordinating Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan (STFA). The World Bank is also financing the CASA-1000 green energy project through Afghanistan with part of a $300 million program. And USAID is continuing to support CASA-1000 which means the U.S. is funding the Taliban’s green energy.

The over $2 billion already sunk into the Taliban terror state by the Biden administration which has abandoned weapons, robbed 9/11 victims, and printed money for the Taliban was done in the name of ‘famine’: the same ‘humanitarian crisis’ faked by the Houthis in Yemen, Hamas in Gaza and Islamic terrorist groups around the world. But the climate crisis will demand more.

Much more. $20 billion for a start.

While Americans go hungry, a fortune has been diverted to Islamic terrorists. And it’s only the beginning. The Taliban recently hosted Washington Post reporters to help them advocate for funding to fight the ‘climate crisis’. What that really means is funding Islamic terrorism.

Environmentalists claim that they want to save the planet. And all they have to do is give our money to terrorists. Not only is Al Qaeda rebuilding in Afghanistan, but we’re funding it.

To save the planet.

Daniel Greenfield Unleashed

While Biden Embraces China, China Hacks America - If that’s not treason, what is?   The Biden administration tried to hide China’s balloon espionage and then put on a fake show of outrage when it was exposed by a viral video.“How will you manage the diplomatic relationship with China?” a reporter asked in the early morning briefing.  “Well, number one, you’re right. We should have an open line [of communications]. With the Bali conference that’s what President Xi and I agreed that we were going to do and meet on,” Biden responded. “And then this silly balloon that was carrying two free cars worth of spy equipment was flying over the United States, and it got shut down and changed in terms of talking to one another.”  “I think you’re going to see that again though very shortly,” he added.  The open line runs strictly one way. It involves China spying on us................

States Shut Down UN-Insurance Corp Plot to Kill Oil and Gas - Can states make a difference? They absolutely can.  Can states make a difference? They absolutely can. And in the battle against woke corporate tyranny, they’re vital. And they’re winning.  European insurers are pulling out of the UN-convened Net-Zero Insurance Alliance over concerns that red states’ antitrust allegations could hurt their businesses. Bloomberg reported Wednesday that the group was holding a meeting to discuss recent departures, a week after 23 Republican attorneys general sent letters to members of the group raising antitrust concerns. Thus far ten major insurance firms have pulled out of the UN conspiracy to kill the oil and gas industries, along with any hope of affordable energy................

Incompetent But Diverse VP Says Military’s Strength Lies in Diversity “Our military is strongest when it fully reflects the people of America”  VP Kamala Harris, whose entire incompetent career has been based on two factors, being the ex-girlfriend of Willie Brown, and her diversity, has a message for West Point cadets. Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday became the first woman to address a graduating class at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and used the opportunity to extol the diversity of the American armed forces.   Well, what else was she going to do? Offer serious geopolitical analysis? Promise that we will start winning wars again? Or repeat once more the tiresome liberal catechism of diversity that has since evolved into a totalitarian and dystopian nightmare...............

Taliban and Iran Start Killing Each Other- "We will conquer Iran within 24 hours.”  There’s an upside to leading from behind. When Obama retreated from Iraq, ISIS emerged and ushered in a wave of brutal warfare against Iranian proxies and fellow Sunni Islamists capping off the Arab Spring and the New Middle East with a bang.Biden’s retreat from Afghanistan hasn’t been that spectacular yet, but give it a little time.  Iran and the Taliban, after initially being good friends and swapping abandoned American military equipment back and forth, are killing each other over who gets first dibs on the local water rights.  So far, two Iranian border guards and one Taliban terrorist are dead. The death toll on both sides would be higher, but, like most Islamic armies, neither side is much good at anything except run-and-gun raids. And empty boasts..............But Iran does have an ace in the hole which is Al Qaeda. So expect Iran to try to use Al Qaeda against the Taliban. Can the terrorists be terrorized? Expect some more Shiite mosques in Afghanistan to get bombed as the various elements of the Religion of Peace worship Allah by killing each other...................

DHS: First You Watch FOX News, Then PragerU, Then You Become a Nazi - This is about criminalizing political dissent. Disinformation and counter-extremism programs have become little more than tools for suppressing the political opposition. With DHS handing out grants to study extremism, the Media Research Center has information on what may be the single most explicit attempt at using counter-extremism funding to go after the opposition................

Biden’s Antisemitism Strategy Fails to Condemn BDS, Includes CAIR -This is the Biden administration’s betrayal of Jews in a nutshell.  There were many expectations for Biden’s U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism among the usual organizational types, but anyone with common sense could have seen this coming a mile away. The U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism fails to address Muslim and leftist antisemitism, it briefly delves into, but does not address where campus antisemitism is coming from, has a single throwaway line about the attacks on Orthodox Jews in New York City, and gives the IHRA pro-Israel definition of antisemitism nearly equal billing with the Nexus anti-Israel one. The strategy claims that “there are several definitions of antisemitism, which serve as valuable tools to raise awareness and increase understanding of antisemitism”, including the IHRA, but noting that the Biden administration “welcomes and appreciates the Nexus Document and notes other such efforts..................

Biden Admin Anti-Semitism Letter to Colleges Makes No Mention of Israel -  Antisemitism on college campuses is at an all-time high.  In ‘Biden’s Strategy to Fight Anti-Semitism Enables Hatred of Jews and Israel’, I take apart the hype over the antisemitism strategy and what it really means. What it means is that the Biden administration allowed the Left to call half the shots in framing the strategy. And the end result is a complete irrelevance. While the various machers are celebrating, you can find the real bottom line in the Dear Colleague letter generated by the Department of Education............

Supreme Court Takes Away EPA’s Power Over Backyard Puddles  - Sorry, puddle police.  The story of the Clean Waters Act is a perfect example of the administrative state seizing total power that it was never intended to have. The old 70’s legislation protected “navigable waters” also known as “waters of the United States”.  The EPA’s bureaucrats and eco-leftists decided to take the latter definition to mean all the water.  Literally.Got a puddle in your backyard?  The EPA has authority over it.  Or had authority.  The Supreme Court ruled that “waters refers only to “geographic[al] features that are described in ordinary parlance as ‘streams, oceans, rivers, and lakes’ ” and to adjacent wetlands that are “indistinguishable” from those bodies of water due to a continuous surface connection.”.........

CBS Shows IRS Whistleblower Exposing Hunter Biden Investigation Abuses - “I immediately saw deviations from the normal process.” Sometimes the medium is as important as the message. This is on CBS News and it’s being reported by Jim Axelrod, the Chief Investigative Correspondent for CBS News. Back in April, Axelrod and CBS had broadcast an interview with the whistleblower’s lawyer. It’s not just the lawyer now. “There were multiple steps that were slow-walked — were just completely not done — at the direction of the Department of Justice,” said Gary Shapley, a 14-year veteran of the agency, who spoke exclusively to CBS News chief investigative correspondent Jim Axelrod on Tuesday. “When I took control of this particular investigation, I immediately saw deviations from the normal process. It was way outside the norm of what I’ve experienced in the past.” Shapley is not just holding down a desk, he’s a high-level figure..............

Area Looted by George Floyd Supporters Remembers His Legacy - George Floyd, who robbed a woman at gunpoint and died of a drug overdose while being restrained by police, is being “remembered” in the place that his supporters looted in the days following his accidental death. The Minneapolis community came together Saturday to remember George Floyd’s life and legacy. The ‘Rise and Remember’ festival attracted hundreds of people to George Floyd Square. “I like the way the community is together,” said Orlando Matthews, visiting from New Orleans with his son. “You see people from all sorts of places.” People from all over the country are here to visit the memorial, including Matthews. George Floyd Square has attracted a lot of people from all over the country. Generally, they came to steal things. But after being trashed, the businesses are just trying to cash in on George Floyd enthusiasts who aren’t burning things............Until a new round of looting and burning properly honors George Floyd’s legacy by setting them on fire.

Taliban Tax Tyranny

April 17, 2023 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty

When I write about taxation, it’s normally to address core economic issues such as marginal tax rates and double taxation.

Or sometimes very wonky topics such as depreciation, carry forwards, and worldwide taxation.

But I confess my favorite tax-related columns involve bizarre example of taxation from around the globe.

For instance, I wrote back in 2015 about how the barbarians from the Islamic State (ISIS) discovered the Laffer Curve when they tried to grab too much money from the unfortunate people in the territory they controlled.

I wonder if the Taliban in Afghanistan will soon learn the same lesson.

Here are some excerpts from a Wall Street Journal report by Saeed Shah.

…most businesses in Kabul’s busy Mandawi market got by without paying their taxes. That changed when the Taliban swept to power. …The Taliban has managed to squeeze more tax revenue out of the country than the previous U.S.-backed governments, even as the economy collapses and most Afghans are struggling to afford food. …“We are creating a culture of tax paying, in spite of all our problems,” said Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban commerce minister. …it isn’t an easy pitch to make to a country that has plunged deeper into poverty since the Taliban took over in 2021… The Taliban has restricted women from parts of the workforce, depriving many families of livelihoods. The World Food Program says that 92% of households are straining to meet their basic food needs, including millions on the verge of famine. …The owner of a grocery store, near the hat shop, said that business was down 50% but now he has to pay his taxes, which cost twice as much. …“If we don’t pay the taxes, I’m afraid of a beating or being put in jail.” …Taxes collected from small businesses have tripled.

Taxes have tripled? I imagine Joe Biden, Crazy Bernie, and Elizabeth Warren are very jealous.

But my guess is that the Taliban thugs will soon learn there are limits to how much tax people can or will pay.

P.S. Here are some comparatively benign examples of quirky tax policies in other nations.

Biden Prints Money for the Taliban

November 22, 2022

After being described as “partners” by the Biden administration, the Taliban announced that they’re bringing back sharia punishments by chopping off hands and stoning their victims.  Last year, the Biden administration had praised the Taliban’s “openness” to women’s rights.

This development puts the nail in the coffin of claims by Biden administration figures that the Jihadist organization had changed into a kinder, gentler Taliban. But the media has conveniently ignored revelations of the close collaboration between the administration and the Taliban.

Front Page Magazine was one of the few conservative publications that exposed the over $1.1 billion in aid directed by the administration after the Taliban takeover, the special licenses issued by the Biden administration authorizing financial transactions with the Taliban and Al Qaeda’s Haqqani Network to distribute that aid, and the billions stolen from 9/11 families for the Taliban.

The Biden administration has been stonewalling the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction with the State Department and Samantha Power’s USAID refusing to allow employees to be interviewed about, among other things, their “compliance with the laws and regulations prohibiting transfers of funds to members of the Taliban and the Haqqani Network”.

Instead, the Biden administration has been chartering Osama bin Laden’s old airline which had been used to ferry drugs and terrorists to evacuate the Americans that Biden had left behind. These hostages have become another cash cow that the Taliban are using to extract money from American taxpayers through the offices of their allies in the Biden administration.

Biden administration figures have repeatedly met with Taliban leaders. According to Al Jazeera, run by the state sponsors of the Islamic terror group, the administration had even provided assurances that the United States will not fund any resistance to the Taliban.

Coming a few months after Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed while under Taliban protection, a “high-level delegation” that allegedly included a top CIA figure, agreed not to “fund any armed groups or non-state actors in the country”, particularly the National Resistance Front, consisting of the Northern Alliance members who had originally helped us liberate Afghanistan.

This betrayal came even after clear evidence that the Taliban were harboring Al Qaeda.

Why would the Biden administration unilaterally throw away our best leverage against the Taliban without getting them to end their support for Al Qaeda and other terror groups?

The Biden administration then went beyond just appropriating $1.1 billion in humanitarian aid, much of which will benefit the Taliban in one way or another, while authorizing transactions with the terrorists, but actually conspired to print money for the Taliban to replace their old bills.

According to Biden’s State Department spokesman, the administration was “working hard with international banks to facilitate payment transfers from Afghanistan’s central bank to European printing companies where new banknotes would actually be produced” to “replace what had been crumbling banknotes in Afghanistan”.

Spokesman Ned Price explained that, “Afghanistan’s markets, even today, run widely on cash, but existing banknotes are crumbling. And that’s why this is such an urgent challenge.”

The Biden administration’s idea of an “urgent challenge” in Afghanistan isn’t preventing Al Qaeda from reforming, it’s not getting out Americans, or stopping the Taliban from stoning people, it’s arranging for a Polish printing company to churn out banknotes for the Taliban.

It’s not enough for the Biden administration to steal billions from 9/11 families and send it to the Taliban, it has to go all the way and actually print money for the Islamic terrorist group.

Thanks to Biden, the Taliban will get 10 billion in ‘Afghanis’ from Poland and another 10 billion from a French company. $3.5 billion in assets in the United States are being transferred to a Swiss trust fund held for the Taliban so that a future administration won’t be able to recover it.

The Biden administration claims to be concerned about Taliban atrocities and then continues to enable the terrorists.

Karen Decker, the head of the U.S. Mission to Afghanistan, conducted a “listening tour” of Afghan women who fled the Taliban and claimed that she shares their “concerns and their hope.” Then she described printing money for the Taliban as “part of our commitment to help the Afghan people”. The only Afghan people that she’s helping are the Taliban.

Thomas West, Biden’s Special Representative to Afghanistan, boasted, “I am very pleased to say that in the past 24 hours we have finally seen the conclusion of two currency transactions.”

There is no other conclusion to be drawn from these latest revelations except that the Biden administration wants the Taliban to remain in power. And has been consistently scheming to bypass legal restrictions on funding terrorism to funnel money to the Taliban.

A responsible administration that served our national interests would be providing a fraction of the aid to the National Resistance Front and other anti-Taliban groups that it’s funneling to Ukraine, and it would, at the very least, use sanctions to undermine the Taliban regime.

Instead, Biden is laboring to protect the Taliban and to keep the terrorists in power.

That’s the same conclusion that the Taliban have drawn. That’s why after prolonged hesitation and doubletalk, they are shedding any pretense about their intentions.

The Taliban’s Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada ordered judges to impose “the ruling of sharia” on, among others, “seditionists” and “apostates”.

“Those cases that have met all the Shariah conditions of limitation and retribution, you are obliged to issue the limitation and retribution, because this is the order of the Sharia and my order and it is obligatory to act,” the Taliban’s spokesman tweeted.

The Taliban have begun a comprehensive crackdown using the traditional brutal punishments of Islam. They’re testing the Biden administration and know that they have nothing to worry about.

Supreme Leader Akhundzada had been a chief judge in the Taliban’s court system during their original period of rule when they became notorious for inflicting grotesque and horrifying punishments on anyone who displeased them.

Nothing has really changed.

Last year, the Taliban captured Danish Siddiqui, the chief photographer for Reuters, in a mosque, beat and tortured him, ran him over with a car, and shot him at close range.

The same media, including Reuters, which has amplified Qatari propaganda about its Al Jazeera terrorist operatives, like Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey and Shireen Abu Akleh in Israel, has remained mostly silent about this atrocity against an actual journalist by the allies of Qatar.

The Biden administration, which has attacked Saudi Arabia over Khashoggi’s death and announced an FBI investigation of Israel over Abu Akleh’s death, has made no such efforts over the mutilation and murder of Siddiqui. Biden condemned the Saudis and the Israelis over Khashoggi and Abu Akleh, but never once mentioned Siddiqui’s name.

Jalina Porter, until recently a Washington Wizards cheerleader, who was elevated to a State Department spokeswoman, failed to condemn the Taliban after Siddiqui’s brutal murder, but only called for “an end to the violence” and a “just and durable peace settlement.”

The complicity and the double standards spoke eloquently about the administration’s agenda.

Last year, the Taliban’s Supreme Leader made his position clear to the rest of the world, “I cannot compromise on Shariah to work with you or even move a step forward.” He warned that “even if the world uses an atomic bomb, we will rule the country according to the Sharia Law.”

That was back in July.

The Biden administration and its media allies knew that they were lying about the kinder, gentler Taliban and their openness to human rights. They told those lies to keep the money flowing.

After robbing 9/11 families, diverting money to the Taliban under a dozen pretexts, including payments for hostages that the Biden administration chose to leave behind, and even collaborating in printing money for the terrorist group, there will be a brief condemnation as the Taliban resume openly mutilating, killing and torturing victims through their Islamic courts.

But the Biden administration will make sure to keep taxpayer money flowing to the terrorists.

The shameful treason we saw at the panicked evacuation of Afghanistan was not the climax, it was the middle of a conspiracy to put the Taliban in power by the enemies of America. Those enemies are not just in Moscow, Tehran or Beijing, they are right here in Washington D.C.

Afghanistan’s Taliban order women to cover up head to to

By Joe Hoft May 7, 2022 732 Comments

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers on Saturday ordered all Afghan women to wear head-to-toe clothing in public — a sharp, hard-line pivot that confirmed the worst fears of rights activists and was bound to further complicate Taliban dealings with an already distrustful international community.

The decree says that women should leave the home only when necessary, and that male relatives would face punishment — starting with a summons and escalating up to court hearings and jail time — for women’s dress code violations.

It was the latest in a series of repressive edicts issued by the Taliban leadership, not all of which have been implemented. Last month, for example, the Taliban forbade women to travel alone, but after a day of opposition, that has since been silently ignored..........To Read More....

U.S. to provide $308 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan as Taliban gov’t falters

- The Washington Times - Tuesday, January 11, 2022

The White House said Tuesday it will provide $308 million in new humanitarian aid for Afghanistan, as the country teeters toward a full-scale humanitarian crisis and economic collapse under the Taliban.

In addition, the U.S. will send 1 million additional COVID-19 tests to the country, which has been in a tailspin since the Taliban government took over following the U.S. military withdrawal in August.

The new assistance will come from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and flow through independent humanitarian organizations, White House spokeswoman Emily Horne said in a statement. It will be used to provide shelter, health care services, winterization assistance, emergency food, aid, water, sanitation and hygiene services........To Read More....

Biden Admin Praises Taliban’s 'Openness' to Women’s Rights

January 03, 2022 @ Sultan Knish Blog

In 2001, the Taliban blew up the giant Buddha statues. Now they’re charging tourists five bucks each to go see the statues that aren’t there. Considering the Islamic knack for destroying statues, tombs, historic buildings, and anything that isn’t a mosque, tourism can be tough.

Fortunately the Taliban have the opium business to fall back on.

While officially the Taliban deplore drugs, their takeover was partly backed by the country’s drug lords who were eager for an end to America’s war on drugs. Planting season has arrived and everyone is expecting a lot of drug money to start flowing into the Taliban’s terrorist coffers.

The Taliban response to international complaints has been the familiar drug shakedown.

“If the international community recognizes our government and we receive aid and development assistance, then poppies will definitely disappear,” a Taliban governor told the media.

Former U.S. administrations had offered aid in exchange for suspending the drug business. And while Afghanistan’s only real cash crop didn’t go away, the Jihadist bosses of the opium OPEC were willing to occasionally reduce production in exchange for cash from Uncle Sam.

The Biden administration is directing over a hundred million in aid to Afghanistan, but what the Taliban really want is the $9 billion in money from the former government they had overthrown.

That includes the $1.3 billion in gold sitting in Manhattan vaults near Ground Zero.

The Taliban would like that gold, but so would the families of the victims killed by the Taliban’s Al Qaeda allies on September 11.

The 9/11 families had sued the Taliban and won $7 billion in damages. But back then the Taliban didn't have money just sitting around in downtown Manhattan.

That's no longer the case.

Biden's problem is the familiar one facing the Obama administration over judgements won by terror victims against Iran and the PLO. How do you funnel money to the terrorists without letting their victims get hold of it? The answer is that you pay secret ransoms or send “humanitarian aid”. Withholding money from terror victims to pay terror bosses looks tacky, so just turn the money into ransom for American hostages or medicine for crying local children.

And so despite the fact that the Taliban negotiate with all faiths other than their own in bad faith, the Biden administration is still negotiating with the terrorists who broke every previous deal.

A week after Thanksgiving, some of Biden's boys from the State Department, USAID, the Treasury Department, and assorted spooks, flew off to talk turkey with the Taliban in Qatar.

The assortment of departments and agencies in the delegation to the terrorists was an interesting one. The State Department's diplomats love to appease terrorists, USAID is there to dole out "humanitarian aid", the spooks are there to ask the terrorists for info on the other terrorists, and the Treasury Department is there to discuss economic sanctions.

And how to bypass them.

All it takes is certifying that the Taliban are nice folks now and it’s time to work with them on feeding and clothing the Afghan people, not to mention educating the girls of Afghanistan.

A week after the Taliban banned women from television, Biden's State Department spokesman Ned Price released a statement praising the Taliban's "openness to engaging with the international community on full access to education".

Price further claimed that the Islamic terrorist group which closed most schools to girls had actually "welcomed efforts to verify and monitor progress to enroll women and girls in school at all levels."

The Taliban, apparently, also "asked for support in the education sector."

Preferably in the form of cash, heroin, or Black Hawk helicopter parts.

According to the Taliban, 75% of girls are back in school. And if you believe that, you probably work for the State Department.

The Taliban’s newfound feminism is as suspect as that of Andrew Cuomo, Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Joe Biden, but they want money and Joe Biden wants to give it to them.

The levers for extracting that cash are a combination of blackmail and victimhood.

The Taliban will cash in on opium while the people starve. And then ask for money in exchange for shutting down the drug trade and then getting the people something to eat. The remaining Americans and Afghan visa recipients are also hostages who can be traded for more dollars.

That’s another reason why so very few of the visa recipients ever made it to the airport. And why the majority of those who did had no visas and no vetting, but probably did pay off the Taliban.

The Taliban can only make so much money from charging tourists to see the missing Buddhas.

The last year should have been a comprehensive education in why the Taliban can’t be trusted. After agreeing not to conquer Afghanistan, they went ahead and did it anyway. While they were doing that, the Biden administration, which is almost as trustworthy as the Taliban, assured the media, which is almost as trustworthy as the Biden administration, that everything was fine.

Now everything is fine again.

When the Taliban aren’t beheading members of female sports teams, they’re showing a great deal of “openness” to “engaging with the international community” on their feminism.

They’ll even field a fully progressive approved all-female sports team of men in burkas.

The Biden administration promised to leave Afghanistan, but the United States never leaves anywhere. Aside from taking in tens of thousands of Afghans into our country, we’re still on the hook for feeding, clothing, and educating the Afghans in Talibanland, not to mention Pakistan.

Even once the Taliban get their billions and their UN seat, we’ll still be sending them aid.

In December 2000, the State Department boasted that it had sent $113 million in "humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people". It further bragged that the "United States is the largest single donor of assistance to Afghans, and has a long record of providing such assistance."

All the while it acknowledged that the Taliban were mischievously harboring Osama bin Laden.

That money stolen from American taxpayers covered "food, housing, health and education programs" for the Afghans. And the State Department shamefully bragged that "of every ten dollars" in aid, "nine dollars is a United States contribution."

Next year the Taliban contributed four airplanes directed at killing thousands of Americans.

Having learned nothing in twenty years, the Biden administration and its career diplomats expect Americans to continue funding a Taliban welfare state.

This time the Taliban really believe in feminism, they insist. This time they’re really committed to fighting terrorism. And this time they surely won’t host another terrorist attack on America.

As long as we pay them enough.

When the Taliban Teamed Up With Bill Gates and UNICEF

October 03, 2021

When the Taliban set up their political operation in Doha, under the aegis of the Islamist state of Qatar, it wasn’t just the Americans and the Europeans who came to negotiate with the terrorists.

Last winter, UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, conducted its own negotiations with the Taliban. The UN agency, like many other non-profits, wanted to operate in Taliban territory and the representatives of the Islamist killers were willing to listen. What the Jihadist organization wanted from the UN was the same deal that Hamas got from UNRWA.

UNICEF would enable an ad-hoc school system that would operate under Taliban control.

While we often talk about terrorists indoctrinating children, few realize that our tax dollars and our non-profit organizations fund educational systems that are under the control of terrorist groups. The UN’s aid agencies routinely enable these operations, most notoriously in Gaza, where UNRWA schools are not only staffed by Hamas members, but have been used as bases for rocket attacks against Israel. But Gaza’s UNRWA setup is actually fairly typical of the UN.

The Helmand Sangin Workplan deal between the Taliban and UNICEF was said to have created 4,000 classes while reaching 140,000 Afghan children. There’s no way to know how true these numbers are, but the most significant part of the agreement was also the least reported part.

As a quarterly report from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction noted, "the Taliban will recruit the teaching staff, who must then be able to pass a test set by the MOE."

And since the Taliban took over Kabul, the Ministry of Education is now under Taliban control.

But throughout the year, UNICEF was helping the Taliban run an educational system. These classes often took place in mosques. And the only ones to know for sure what was being taught in these "informal classes" were in the room. It’s not clear if USAID was providing any funding to the Taliban’s educational system, but some American non-profits appeared to be doing so.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was reported to be picking up some of the cost.

An “inspiring” UNICEF photo feature from earlier this year shows a female teacher in a burka that leaves only her eyes exposed teaching a group of women in burkas while a scowling man stands at the door. The classes are supposed to be taking place somewhere in Kandahar, and the funds are coming, at least in part, from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Helmand Sangin Workplan is scheduled to run until December 2021. The Biden administration has announced an additional $64 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. Some of this appears as if it will be routed through UNICEF and other UN agencies.

Will American taxpayers be funding a Taliban school system? The answer is we likely will.

The Taliban have often been portrayed as hostile to education, but the Jihadis who built the organization were the product of Madrassas, Islamic schools set up in Pakistan that were funded by Saudi Arabia. The name “Taliban” even means students in the Pashtun tongue.

The Islamic educational system is a military institution whose primary subject is Jihad. Its teachings focus on the need to defeat infidels and impose Sharia law on the human race. The Madrassa system is the means by which the Jihadis indoctrinate the next generation of killers.

The Taliban are not against educating boys or even necessarily girls. They run madrassas aimed at girls in some areas. What they are against is any educational system that they don’t control and can’t use to indoctrinate children into functioning as the next generation of their cause. And the United States and Americans appear to be willing to fund the Taliban schools.

What is the distinction between Taliban madrassas that were already in place and UNICEF schools? The UN wants to ensure that the Taliban teach math, science, and assorted secular subjects to students. Whether or not Taliban teachers end up doing this, no one can really know.

But that’s also hardly the point.

The United States should not be funding a Taliban education system or allowing it to be funded.

Two decades after the 9/11 Commission had warned about the dangers of the Madrassa system, the Biden administration and its donors may actually be helping to fund Islamic schools that will indoctrinate a new generation to hate and kill non-Muslims.

The Biden administration is not alone in this treasonous madness.

Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown wrote an op-ed urging G-7 nations, a group that includes the US, to commit $8 billion to Afghan education even after the Taliban takeover of the country. "Aid should be distributed based on the work already done by UNICEF who to their great credit negotiated an agreement last December to cover 120,000 girls and to ensure they received home schooling in Taliban controlled areas," he argued.

The 120,000 number is nonsense. And with “ghost schools” a common phenomenon in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the actual number of students attending classes is unknown.

But more importantly throwing billions into a Taliban educational system is funding terrorism.

The Taliban has been known to “tax” teachers and non-profits. And when they select the teachers, they are bound to be either members of loyalist families, or those who have bribed them. Either way, funding schools controlled by the Taliban means funding the Taliban.

Tests, either of the teachers or students, are meaningless in a system controlled by the Taliban. Any metrics will be administered by the Taliban making them entirely worthless.

“Our obligation is to help the children of Afghanistan grow up to become the leaders of tomorrow,” Brown concluded. The question that he seems incapable of grappling with is the leaders of what? The current leaders of Afghanistan came out of Madrassas. And even if the Taliban go along with some sort of mass educational program for women, Iran, Pakistan, and Hamas have shown that Muslim women, just like men, can be indoctrinated to believe that their role in life is to raise children to kill non-Muslims or even to go ahead and carry out attacks.

The window when we might have helped educate the children of Afghanistan to believe anything else has closed. The Taliban won and their spoils include Afghanistan’s children.

The last thing we should be doing is funding the Taliban’s indoctrination efforts. Any money that the Taliban and its backers in Pakistan or Qatar spend on education is at least diverted from more direct forms of terrorism aimed at us. And the same holds true for all aid to Afghanistan.

The Taliban have taxed and regulated non-profits handing out aid in areas under their control. There’s every reason to believe that they will go on expecting Americans to feed their population even as they skim as much as they can from the millions in taxpayer money being used as aid.

Biden has claimed that he retreated from Afghanistan because the United States couldn’t keep spending money indefinitely on the failed country. And yet, as soon as he fled, abandoning Americans behind enemy lines, he’s spending another $64 million on Afghanistan.

And a percentage of that money will inevitably fall into the hands of Islamic terrorists.

America can pull out of Afghanistan, but our leaders refuse to stop funding the Taliban.
