The New Unofficial Communist Party of America

“When you hit rock bottom, there’s only one direction to go, and that’s up, and that’s what we’re doing.” — Democrat National Committee Chair Ken Martin

By Robin Itzler

Editor's Note:  This is one of the commentaries selected from Robin's weekly newsletter Patriot Neighbors.   If you wish to get the full edition, E-mail her at PatriotNeighbors@yahoo.com to get on her list, it's free.

Have no doubt there is no space between Karl Marx and Zohran Mamdani.  In 1963 the 45 communist goals to destroy America was listed in the 1963 Congressional Record, with Goal number 15 being:

Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

If you're listening to what Democrat mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani says you will quickly recognize he is spouting many of Karl Marx’s communist beliefs. You can hear the same from Los Angeles’ communist Democrat mayor Karen Bass who visited Castro’s Cuba many times and was saddened when the sadistic dictator died. Below are Karl Marx quotes. Compare them to what Mamdani, Bass and other leading Democrats (AOC, Crockett, Sanders, Omar, etc.) say:

  1. “The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all private property.”
  2.  “My object is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.”
  3. “Take away a nation’s heritage and they are more easily persuaded.”
  4.  “Keep people from their history and they are easily controlled.”
  5. “The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions.”
  6. “Communism begins where atheism begins.”
  7.  “We have no compassion and we ask no compassion from you. When our turn comes, we shall not make excuses for the terror.”
  8. “The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to socialism.”
  9. “The first requisite for the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion.”
  10. “A heavy or progressive or graduated income tax is necessary for the proper development of Communism.”
  11. “Communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience.”
  12. “As socialism grows, religion will disappear. Its disappearance must be done by social development, in which education must play a part.”

If you think it can’t happen here in America, look at what is happening in New York City and Minneapolis mayoral races.

Democrats and Karl Marx

By Rich Kozlovich

How is the Democrat party aligned with Karl Marx?  I'm a firm believer in coherence through connectives articles.  You start with a premise, then present the information that lays the intellectual foundation, and tie it all together at the end.  This is a coherence through connectives article, and it's my view such articles have impact, and we'll come back to Marx and the Democrat party.

In a recent interview Senator John Kennedy gave his views on what's wrong with Democrats starting with: "Democrats need to try harder not to suck"!

I'm going to paraphrase the rest of his comments with some of mine, as he went on to innumerate what they've "accomplished" over the last four years, only their "accomplishments" were all lessons in gross "mismanagement", and worse.  Among other things they mismanaged Congress, covid, the economy, the national debt, withdrawal of Afghanistan, immigration, corrupted the rule of law, supported transgender men competing with women in sports, promoting and defending gender mutilation of children, with Democrats claiming castrating children is a Constitutional right, and supported Hamas terrorists over Israel.  We now know USAID has actually been financing terrorists to the tune of millions of dollars.

 Main Image: Cartoon

He went on to say, these are online activists who actually think men can breast feed, everything is racist demanding reparations, and are crushed when people fail to use the right pronoun, either breaking down in tears or screaming violently.

Maxine & Co thinks screaming, swearing and singing will stop efforts by DOGE, after all, that kind of insanity worked before, but it won't work now, the Pravda media that promoted all this is toast, and no one cares what they're saying.   I'm just surprised they've not ruptured a blood vessel.... yet.

That’s their history, and now they’re standing in opposition to President Trump’s efforts using Elon Musk and his DOGE team.  Instead, they're choosing to support a bloated and corrupt bureaucratic "spending porn" over what’s good for America. Democrats have learned nothing, and will continue to put America last.  The hill they're prepared to die on is preventing government downsizing.

  1.  DC In Panic! - In Just Three Weeks
  2.  Color Me Confused by the Left’s Unhinged Reaction to Trump
  3.  Dems Suddenly Discover They Hate Unelected Officials Making Decisions
  4.  Hawley: Dems ‘Panicking Big Time’ as Trump Cuts Off ‘Liberal Supply Chains’

One has to ask how any sane and fair minded person who sees this could not possibly conclude there’s something seriously wrong with their minds?  Provided they really believe in all that.  But this is the “normal” they’ve tried to push on to America calling conservatives, Republicans, traditional Jews and Christians, and whites radicals and extremists.

Leftism and mental health - It’s well substantiated that liberals tend to suffer madness and depression more than conservatives.  Unfortunately, psychotherapies for depression are not always effective.  Perhaps a complicating factor is that the afflicted often try to explain away their disease by insisting they care more about social problems, especially perceived inequality.  Then why did the mental health issues become even more exacerbated during the first Trump (45th) presidency?.............

One black attorney says he can seriously reduce crime in America, especially black America.  And how does he intend to do that?  By legalizing crime. Why? Because according to him crime is just part of black culture, so why should blacks be stigmatized as criminals and even lose their freedom over what's just a natural cultural social paradigm in black America?  Now C'mon man, who could find fault with that kind of logic? Right?

Then there's Representative Ruskin, whose elevator doesn't go all the way to the top, insists Musk, Trump, and DOGE are a cover for their own fraud and corruption, yet fails to show how , where, when, and how much.  You know, Ruskin, the guy who accepted a preemptive pardon by Biden for his criminal activity.

The Paris Treaty is dead, but that's an unshakable tenet of the secular religion of leftist globalism, but it's long overdue to put Al Gore, John Kerry under oath and force them to explain why they've pushed this all these years in total violation of the actual and factual science.

In Philadelphia investigators urge DOJ to open corruption probe into 2011 death of Ellen Greenberg.  Why?  It appears a woman who was stabbed twenty times, once in the back, committed suicide.  Imagine that.

Dr. Marlon Osbourne, a former member of the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office, originally ruled Greenberg’s death a homicide but changed it to a suicide days later after a closed-door meeting with police. The details of that meeting have never been made public, and the attorney for Greenberg's parents said no records were provided regarding who from the police department participated or what was discussed. Brennan argued that the secret meeting alone warranted a corruption probe........"Don't tell me about corruption in Philadelphia," ....."These people are foul. They are really foul."

What makes this article so important is one of the "bright lights" of the Democrat party, who was the sanest Democrat voice in the 2024 election, and before this was likely to run for President in 2028, is Governor Josh Shapiro, and this case shows how he had a hand in preventing this death being declared a the murder it was.   This is going to come back to haunt him, and it should.

Is it any wonder so many Democrats are preparing for the Big House?  It's clear many of those who abused the system believe what they did was criminal, and will soon face Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) investigations. The hunters will now be the hunted.  And now the evidence of treason having been committed by Obama is piling up.

If the Republicans refuse to stop what they're doing Hakeem Jeffries says every Democrat will oppose it, which of course means the Senate Democrats also, and that gives impetus to the threat of a government shutdown....and that's bad why?  Talk about "defending the indefensible".

My friend Robin M. Itzler says, maybe we need a government shutdown, and I agree.   One of the things everyone needs to grasp is the term “government shutdown” is a misnomer. The government doesn’t shut down as there’s billions of dollars pouring into the federal coffers every month. The military will be paid, social security will be paid, medicare and medicaid will be paid, and unfortunately Congress will be paid.

What will happen is potentially tens of thousands of useless government bureaucrats will be laid off, and the longer the “shutdown” lasts the better as that will expose just how unimportant these people are to the stability of the nation, justifying massive permanent cuts in government thereafter. And that's bad why?

There's this constant drumbeat about Trump being a narcissist, but everything about the Democrat Party screams narcissism, and the fact is Democrats are terrible people with a bench that makes the last team in the major league standings look like a World Series winner.

They're lost in a wilderness world of delusion, "determined to spend the next 40 years wandering in the wilderness. There have been no fruitful reflections leading to productive responses to the drubbing Democrats took in the 2024 national elections. The few Cassandras who think some change in course is required are considered by Democrat elitists to be dinosaurs worthy of disdain".  They Robbed Us Blind for Decades, and "any person alive who isn’t outraged is beyond hope and is absolutely brain dead".

On July 13, 2024 Mark Lewis published this article, Marx and the Democrats, and started out by quoting Karl Marx.

  1. Keep people from their history, and they are easily controlled.
  2. Take away a nation’s heritage, and they are more easily persuaded.
  3. If you can cut the people off from their history, then they can be easily persuaded.
  4.  The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions.
  5. Communism begins where atheism begins.
  6. My object is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.
  7. The first requisite for the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion.
  8. Communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience.
  9. The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to socialism.
  10. There is no peace until everybody is a socialist.
  11. A heavy or progressive or graduated income tax is necessary for the proper development of Communism.”
  12. As socialism grows, religion will disappear.  Its disappearance must be done by social development, in which education must play a part.
  13. Democracy is the road to socialism.
  14. The last capitalist we hang shall be the one who sold us the rope.
  15. We have no compassion, and we ask for no compassion from you.  When our turn comes, we shall not make excuses for the terror.
To show just how twisted their thinking is CBS's Margaret Brennan scolded Marco Rubio on free speech by suggesting it caused the Holocaust.  There was no free speech in Hitler's Germany.  Just how twisted and stupid can these people be?  The genocide happened because Germany was devoid of free speech, and that's now become a pattern all over Europe, including Germany.

There is no greater threat to world peace than the Democrat party, "the party of slavery, segregation, KKK, fraud, corruption, disunity, lawfare, political intolerance, open border and and other calamities." All this is proven, and easily discovered, so one has to ask, other than grave yards all around the nation, where do these Democrat voters come from?  It's clear these are people with issues, intellectual as well as moral, and after reading this piece answer this question: Who really are the extremists?

March 14, 1883 is a Day to Celebrate

By Rich Kozlovich

Recently I posted this article, Leftism Has Always Been Wrong, Destructive, and Evil, noting:

One of the things I keep trying to point out is nothing the left ever does, or supports, ever ends up being successful, and nothing they claim is ever the truth.  It's either outright lies, lies of omission, obfuscation, cognitive dissonance, projection, logical fallacies, or speculation.  But most importantly, they're always wrong.  They just about have a monopoly on "wrong".

John Hinderaker posted this piece today, Don’t RIP, Karl, telling us this was the day Karl Marx died, and should be a worldwide holiday, saying:

Via InstaPundit, I learn that Karl Marx died on this day in 1883. I concur with Glenn Reynolds’ suggestion that March 14 should therefore be a holiday:  Marx performed the difficult feat of being wrong about everything.......Marx survives in historical memory for two reasons..... hardly anyone has actually read Capital or his lesser works......Marx’s philosophy has served as a pretext for sadists to seize control of governments around the globe. Which is exactly what Marx intended.  Marx was a bad man, equally so in his private and public lives. He should be remembered only as an exemplar of how much damage a single-minded and hate-filled man can do.

Being wrong is foundational to leftism, and it has always been so.  The stupid things they say and promote is mind boggling, but as Einstein is alleged to have said the only difference between genius and stupid is genius has limits.   There are not boundaries on the left, ergo, there's no limit to the stupid things they embrace, promote, and implement.

In order for this evil man's influence to continue requires an absolute abandonment of education that requires work and critical thinking.  For those who pay attention to these things we can see that's been the goal of public education going back to the end of the 19th century, and now 150 years later, that's been achieved, and these misfits are even saying reading is racist.  Virtually everything they're promoting is destructive to our society.  This is an conscience and deliberate effort at dismantling anything that's promotes the foundational traditional values that created the greatest society the world has ever known.

Despicable Marx and Disgusting Marxism

Early last year, I shared a video explaining that Karl Marx was a despicable human being. Today, let’s look at a video that further examines him and his hideous ideology.

(Editor's Note: The video below is not all that special, but the video linked above is excellent. RK)

This raises an interesting question of picking the most offensive feature of Marxism.

  1. The totalitarian brutality in nations that (so far) have murdered and starved 100 million people?
  2. The economic illiteracy of a system that has anywhere and everywhere produced misery and poverty?
  3. The moral abomination of an ideology that assumes individuals are abjectly subservient to the state?

The the video above is from the Ayn Rand-inspired Atlas Society, I suspect they might emphasize answer #3.

And that certainly is correct, but the best answer is “all of the above.”

I’ll close with the observation that Marx was a bad person, but he’s not nearly as bad as modern-day Marxists.

That’s because Marx was guilty of coming up with a bad theory. Today’s Marxists, by contrast, not only believe in that bad theory, but they hold to those noxious views in spite of 100 years of evidence that communism is a failure of practice.

Though maybe today’s Marxists are simply big fans of very strict diets?

P.S. To see the difference between a good person and a bad person, here’s a comparison of Marx with another person from central Europe.

The Uncancellable Left

In my quest to achieve a hyper-caffeinated version of being “awake” I am gratified to see the great movement forward has managed to cleanse such critical media outlets as Teen Vogue, the New York Times and children’s literature of racists, homophobes, and fascists. However, it seems to me that we have much bigger fish to fry. My awakened soul has called me to alert my comrades with the pitchforks, torches, and cancellation privileges to a number of unacceptably asleep individuals and historical movements that should be purged, cancelled, removed, and obliterated from our accepted discourse and intellectual lives. Out with discussion, pluralism, and context; in with the perfect amount of tolerance for the demands of purity.

Now, I don’t mean to cast aspersions upon my sleepless comrades who have focused rather narrowly on members of the American Founding, Dr. Seuss, Aristotle, and other unmistakably obvious candidates for expulsion from history, but we must face reality.

A number of intellectual giants of the left must go.

Karl Marx must be cancelled. This, of course, isn’t a secret to anyone who has actually bothered to read his historical theory, which has large sections focused on racial determinism............The same holds true for Rousseau..........It begins with one of the most widely recognized individuals among fashionably sensible awake people, Che Guevara. While Che’s face adorns countless t-shirts at elite universities and awake political gatherings in the understandable spirit of kinship with peasants wearing colorful clothing throughout South and Central America, he, along with his comrade Fidel Castro, also targeted and imprisoned gay people as well as engaged in racist activities in his lifetime. The Argentine author Guillermina Sutter Schneidner rightly describes him as a “Racist, Homophobe and Mass Murderer”...........Antonio Gramsci, made a fateful and regrettable decision to argue that heterosexual monogamy was essential to achieving Marxist hegemony. ...........Paul Moreno is one of many scholars who has shown quite clearly that the earlier labor movement actively viewed former slaves as nothing but strikebreakers............ 1619 Project has accomplished anything, we must likewise jettison any glorification of organized labor and its racist founding........... Jean Paul Sartre, who regrettably had quite a bit of sexist language and imagery in his writing.............revealed by one of his friends to have paid young Algerian boys to have sex with him in graveyards. ...........To Read More....

The Face of Evil

Michel Foucault is the intellectual godfather of the modern Left. I have always found this fact strange, as his theories, to the extent they are intelligible, are obviously wrong. But they formed the basis for such leftist staples as identity politics and sexual confusion, and so, coherent or not, they were welcomed enthusiastically by liberals.

Foucault has long been known to have been, personally, a sinister figure. At the Epoch Times, Roger Simon writes about recent revelations of Foucault’s history. Roger starts with the scandal of Major League Baseball weighing in on behalf of voter fraud, one of endless instances of virtue signaling and moral narcissism. Then, on to Foucault:

[J]ust who is this godfather of “woke”?  Well, there’s a lot of convoluted graduate school rhetoric, but it turns out the reality of the man may not be very flattering. Rumors of a certain amount of perversion have surrounded Foucault for some time but now testimony has surfaced that is distinctly “unwoke.”

I am not sure I agree with Roger here. Are the “woke” actually opposed to perversion? I doubt it............

The interesting question, to me, is whether a man who is a moral monster can nevertheless produce sound philosophy. I think the answer is No. On the Left, it is fashionable to nit-pick great men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill. But the men and women who founded what we now know as conservatism were good, if inevitably imperfect, people.

Conversely, the icons of the Left–Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Michel Foucault and many more–were hideously deformed and evil. I think a flawed man or woman–which is to say, a normal person–can produce sound political and social philosophy. But I think it is impossible for a moral leper like Michel Foucault to produce anything good or useful. Which helps to explain, perhaps, why today’s Left is irredeemably corrupt............To Read More....

  • Karl Marx: Worst Person in World History? On March 14, 1883 Karl Marx made his most important contribution to mankind.....He died. Karl Marx: Worst Person in World History?

March 30, 2021 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty

Since more than 100 million people have been killed by communist regimes, should we conclude that Karl Marx is the worst person in world history?  To address that question, let’s start with this video from Prager University, which is narrated by Professor Paul Kengor of Grove City College.

At the risk of understatement, the video is a damning indictment of Marx’s legacy.  His political ideas provided the justification for the genocides of dictators such as Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot.

 https://freedomandprosperity.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Mar-30-21-Marx-Deadbeat.jpg

His economic ideas led to policies that produced mass deprivation, starvation, and immense human suffering.  Now let’s take a closer look at Marx rather than just his ideas.  Was he a good person who simply had some horribly misguided ideals?  Hardly. Everything we know suggests he was a sickeningly despicable excuse for a human being.  Professor Richard Ebeling has some of the sordid details in an article for Intellectual Takeout.

Karl Marx was born on May 5, 1818, in the Rhineland town of Trier. …he was generally a lazy and good-for-nothing student. …Marx’s only real jobs during his lifetime were as occasional reporters for or editors of newspapers and journals most of which usually closed in a short period of time… He had sex enough times with the family maid that she bore him an illegitimate son… He often used racial slurs and insulting words to describe the mannerisms or appearance of his opponents in the socialist movement.  …In Marx’s mind, the Jew in bourgeois society encapsulated the essence of everything he considered despicable in the capitalist system… Marx’s caricaturing description of the asserted “Jewish mindset” rings amazingly similar to those that were later written by the Nazi “race-scientists” of the 1930s.

All told, it appears that Marx lacked a single redeeming feature. He was a very bad person with very bad ideas.

 https://i0.wp.com/freedomandprosperity.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Screenshot-2020-12-29-at-3.07.18-PM.png

Indeed, it’s safe to assume that the best thing he did in his life occurred on March 14, 1883.

P.S. For those seeking more economic analysis, Marx advocated for the pure version of socialism, meaning government ownership of the means of production (state factories, collective farms, etc).

P.P.S. It’s disgusting that there’s a statue of Marx in his birth city and it’s equally disgusting that the former President of the European Commission went there to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth.

P.P.P.S. Marx gets featured frequently in my collection of jokes mocking communism.

Are Today’s Leftists Truly Marxists?

Walter E. Williams | Aug 12, 2020 | |

Most people who call themselves Marxists know very little of Karl Marx’s life and have never read his three-volume “Das Kapital.” Volume I was published in 1867, the only volume published before Marx’s death in 1883. Volumes II and III were later edited and published in his name by his friend and collaborator Friedrich Engels. Most people who call themselves Marxist have only read his 1848 pamphlet “The Communist Manifesto,” which was written with Engels.

Marx is a hero to many labor union leaders and civil rights organizations, including leftist groups like Black Lives Matter, antifa and some Democratic Party leaders. It is easy to be a Marxist if you know little of his life. Marx’s predictions about capitalism and the “withering away of the state” turned out to be grossly wrong. What most people do not know is that Marx was a racist and an anti-Semite.....

Che Guevara, a hero of the left, was a horrific racist. He wrote in his 1952 memoir, “The Motorcycle Diaries”: “The Negro is indolent and lazy and spends his money on frivolities, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent.”............To Read More....

Marxism in the Classroom, Riots in the Streets

By —— Bio and Archives--July 24, 2020

The explosion of lawless rioting on American streets was only a matter of time. Sixty-two years ago, former FBI agent W. Cleon Skousen wrote “The Naked Communist” to warn Americans about how communists planned to destroy our system from within, not by means of sudden revolution as envisioned by Karl Marx, but through a version of Italian communist Antonio Gramsci’s “cultural Marxism.” With a nod to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its People’s Liberation Army (PLA), it has been a “long march through the institutions” that has brought us to the brink of catastrophe—and much of it began in our schools.

Chapter 13 of Skousen’s book lists 45 goals of communism in America. Number 17 reads: “Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of the teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.” And so they did. While American parents were busy working to sustain their families and achieve a piece of the American dream, their children were at schools with teachers and textbooks that taught them to hate America, the Judeo-Christian foundations of our national identity, and the remarkable individuals who built this country on the principles of the Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, the Federalist Papers, and more.........To Read More....

Marx and the Rioters

June 17, 2020 By Wen Wryte

You can see revolutionary Marxism made real in the violence and destructiveness of these “protests”, and you can see the narcissism and nihilism being expressed in the self-justificatory rhetoric of the participants and the demonizing of anyone the mob decides ought to be hated and destroyed.

If the cultural cancer of 21st century progressivism is ever to be successfully eradicated it will first be necessary for it to be seen for what it really is: a form of neo-Marxism that aims to destroy capitalism, and with it, Western civilization. The roots of the current wave of pathological irrationality, intellectual deformity, and moral underdevelopment reach far back into the early 19th century in Europe, with the German idealist philosopher GWF Hegel’s idea of historical determinism.

Marx seized on Hegel's dialectical system (thesis-antithesis-synthesis) and his philosophy of history and combined these with his own theory of class conflict as the determinants of social, economic, and political progress. Marx claimed that history led deterministically to the one defining moment of the age and that it was left to a unique historically determined genius -- Marx himself -- to educate the world about this...................Marx’s stroke of evil genius was his collectivist ideology of oppression based on economic class..........To Read More.....

More Marxism From John Ray

By John Ray @ Dissecting Leftism

I have just put up on my Marx blog a new collection of "wisdom" from leading Marxists.  It makes clear that Leftist violence is thoroughly intentional and central to Leftism.  It is not at all the work of a radical "fringe" or "incidental" in some way.

Another Edition of Anti-Communism Humor

May 28, 2018 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty

I expressed my disapproval yesterday about the pro-Stalin propaganda in Gori, Georgia.
Yes, I realize he’s the most noteworthy person to be born in that town, but that’s hardly a reason to acknowledge – much less celebrate – the life of a totalitarian butcher.

In response, I thought about writing a column documenting Stalin’s awful crimes against humanity, but perhaps mockery is a more appropriate response.
So let’s start with this news report from the Onion.
…a group of Johns Hopkins University researchers released a report Tuesday indicating that the late Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin was only one great purge away from creating a communist utopia. “Our research demonstrates that if Stalin had shipped a mere 100,000 more people to Siberia, the whole communist experiment would have worked out perfectly,” said historian and report co-author Franklin Morrison, adding that all of the USSR’s corruption, hunger, and disease would have disappeared overnight if Stalin had simply been able to let a few million more Ukrainians starve to death. “It’s a shame, because in 1953 the Soviet Union was really on the precipice of becoming a perpetual workers’ paradise devoid of all poverty and want. Unfortunately, Stalin passed away before he could round up just one last group of intellectuals and make them dig their own mass graves.”
Sadly, some leftist academic probably believe this satire.  They need a copy of this book.

Of course, some statists (like these dopes) will trot out their usual excuse that “real communism hasn’t been tried.”

Speaking of dopes, I wrote last month about the loathsome decision by the President of the European Commission to honor Karl Marx. Well, it appears he’s also going to authorize having Marx on the currency.

But the sensible folks at the European Central Bank intervened and insisted on an appropriate denomination........To Read More.....

Alt-Left Insanity: Teen Vogue Readers Learn Marx from ‘White Genocide’ Prof

By Matt Philbin | May 18, 2018

“If a man is not a socialist at 20, he has no heart. If he is still a socialist at 40, he has no brain.” And if at 17 a girl thinks socialism is “where the community (rather than rich people) have ownership and control over their labor,” she’s been reading Teen Vogue.

Teen Vogue already does a bang-up job combining standard beauty-fashion-celebrity superficiality with standard gay-trans-feminist “woke” superficiality into a sort of glossy pop-cultural marxism (with bonus anal sex tutorials!). So why not venture into the real economic Marxism by introducing Karl Marx to the Clearasil set?
Sure, there are drawbacks to introducing Teen Vogue’s discerning readers to Uncle Karl, “the famed German [who] co-authored The Communist Manifesto with fellow scholar Friedrich Engels in 1848,” as Teen Vogue described him. For one thing, despite the hipster beard, his fashion sense was strictly proletarian – and not in the cool, street way. And he did most of his writing in a public library. I mean, what kind of dweebs are gonna see you write your deep thoughts in a library? Had they no coffee houses, no smoothie bars?
But Teen Vogue’s Danielle Corcione was undaunted because Marx’s ideas “later inspired millions of people to resist oppressive political leaders and spark political revolutions all over the world.” Cool, like #resist, right? Besides, Teen Vogue has a go-to educator in its Rolodex: “Former Drexel University professor George Ciccariello-Maher,” who was fired from Drexel for tweeting “All I Want For Christmas Is White Genocide.” And you can tell Ciccariello-Maher is a professional teacher because he makes sure his meaning is clear. He followed up that tweet with: “To clarify: when the whites were massacred during the Haitian revolution, that was a good thing indeed.”
“So how can teens learn the legacy of Marx’s ideas and how they’re relevant to the current political climate?” Corcione chirped.
Some quick suggestions:
  • Look at Venezuela, where the people – in the form of Madero’s socialist government – are enjoying ownership of the nation’s massive oil industry. They can’t get food or toilet paper and they’re fleeing Venezuela by the thousands, but they own the means of production.
  • Check out the “workers’ paradise” of Cuba, where actual Cubans aren’t allowed in the tourist hotels, the Nash Rambler is the hottest set of wheels, and it might take 10 years to save up for the laptop on which to read Teen Vogue (if it isn’t censored by the government.)
  • North Korea is another fun and informative place to celebrate the Marx legacy (go in the spring – the new grass is delicious.)
Those are just a few living examples. There are also 100 million dead ones........To Read More....

Another Dupe and Apologist for Totalitarian Communism

May 14, 2018 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty

A couple of weeks ago, I expressed disgust that the President of the European Commission was going to give a speech commemorating the 200th birthday of Karl Marx.

To be blunt, Marx was a despicable person who developed an ideology that butchered 100 million people.

Yet he still has plenty of apologists.

It’s disgusting when serious publications such as the New York Times publish fan-boy columns about Marxism. But what should we think when Teen Vogue publishes an article celebrating Marx? Here’s some of pabulum offered to readers.
Karl Marx…developed the theory of communism, which advocates for workers’ control over their labor (instead of their bosses). …his ideas can still teach us about the past and present. …The famed German co-authored The Communist Manifesto with fellow scholar Friedrich Engels in 1848, a piece of writing that makes the case for the political theory of socialism— where the community (rather than rich people) have ownership and control over their labor — which later inspired millions of people to resist oppressive political leaders… His writings have inspired social movements in Soviet Russia, China, Cuba.
As an economist, I’m most offended by the laughably inaccurate description of labor in a market economy.

As a human being, I’m utterly nauseated by the description of communism as a means of resisting oppressive political leaders. Is the author really that clueless?!? For heaven’s sake, communism and oppressive politics may as well by synonyms.

The article then offers up some oleaginous descriptions of how students are being fed Marxist propaganda.
So how can teens learn the legacy of Marx’s ideas and how they’re relevant to the current political climate? …Public high school teacher Mark Brunt teaches excerpts from The Communist Manifesto alongside curriculum about the industrial revolution in his English class. …Brunt talks about how these factory workers did all of the leg work — including slaughtering animals and packaging meat on top of working long days with little, if any, time off — to keep the factories intact, yet had very little control over their work, including their working conditions, compared to the profiteering factory owners. …He then introduces Marx’s distinction between the proletariat — the working class as a whole — and bourgeoisie — the ruling class who controls the workers and profits from their labor.
Needless to say, Mr. Brunt is wrong about the history of sweatshops.

But he’s downright delusional when trying to explain why workers reject Marxism.
In his advanced class, Brunt also introduces the idea of false consciousness, which is defined as the many ways the working class is mislead to believe certain ideologies. …“You’re tricked into thinking your allies are different and your enemies are different than they actually are.”
Gee, Mr. Brunt, maybe workers reject Marxism because they like freedom and better living standards.

College students also get subjected to propaganda.
Former Drexel University professor George Ciccariello-Maher uses Marx to teach history… “When I teach Marx, …There’s this myth of the free market, but Marx shows very clearly that capitalism emerged through a state of violence.” …Some examples of violence that aided in the establishment of capitalism in the United States include stealing the land of Indigenous people and trafficking Africans through slavery.
Wow, only an academic could blame capitalism (a system of mutually beneficial voluntary exchange) for the actions of governments (land expropriations and state-sanctioned slavery).

But I’m not overly agitated by the incoherent thoughts of bitter “educators.”

What does upset me is that some impressionable young ladies looking for make-up tips and relationship advice may accidentally read this terrible article and actually conclude that Marx, instead of being a totalitarian, was some well-meaning, run-of-the-mill leftist.

Which is why this tweet from a journalist at the Weekly Standard is a nice summary of what’s wrong with the article.

But it’s even worse than the tweet suggests. The author didn’t under-estimate the body count resulting from communist tyranny. She wrote an entire article about Marx and never mentioned any of the death, misery, and destruction resulting from Marx’s evil ideology.

So let’s set the record straight.

Writing for the Wall Street Journal, Professor Paul Kengor opined about the real Marx.
May 5 marks the bicentennial of Karl Marx, who set the stage with his philosophy for the greatest ideological massacres in history. Or did he? …deniers still remain. “Only a fool could hold Marx responsible for the Gulag,” writes Francis Wheen in “Karl Marx: A Life” (1999). Stalin, Mao and Kim Il Sung, Mr. Wheen insists, created “bastard creeds,” “wrenched out of context” from Marx’s writings.
But, as Kengor explains, Marx’s writing were a green light for totalitarianism.
In “The Communist Manifesto,” he and Friedrich Engels were quite clear that “the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: abolition of private property.” …Marx and Engels acknowledged their coercive nature: “Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads.” In the close of the Manifesto, Marx said, “The Communists . . . openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions.” They were right about that. Human beings would not give up fundamental liberties without resistance. Seizing property would require a terrible fight, including the use of guns and gulags. Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin and a long line of revolutionaries and dictators candidly admitted that force and violence would be necessary. We’re told the philosophy was never the problem—that Stalin was an aberration, as were, presumably, Lenin, Trotsky, Ceausescu, Mao, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, the Kims and the Castros… Couldn’t any of them read? Yes, they could read. They read Marx. The rest is history—ugly, deadly history.
Unless you’re reading vapid articles in Teen Vogue. In which case you’ll be less knowledgeable about history when you’re done.

P.S. While it’s tempting to laugh at the article in Teen Vogue, you can enjoy deliberate humor about communism by clicking here, here, here, here, and here.

Hollywood’s New Matinee Idol: Karl Marx

More gushing over the prickly German journalist who wrote the book on Communism.

By

Having received an Oscar nomination for his documentary about James Baldwin, I Am Not Your Negro, the Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck created considerable anticipation for his equally political follow-up, The Young Karl Marx. Alas, this is not the first time Marxism turned out to be a crashing dud.

Films about writers face a big obstacle from the start: No one wants to watch a movie about a nerd scratching away at his desk. But Marx was a bit more than just a writer. Unlike the usual fight-the-power types, he actually did fight the power — and was forced out of three countries for it. Today’s radicals never even make good on their promises to move to Toronto.........To Read More......

Marx and Mohammed in Manchester

Daniel Greenfield 2 Comments Friday, July 28, 2017 @ Sultan Knish Blog

There’s good news for Manchester. The city with the highest death rate and some of the worst drug and alcohol problems in England is getting a statue of Friedrich Engels.

A scowling bearded cement statue of Marx’s best friend will fix everything wrong with Manchester.

The statue comes to Manchester courtesy of Phil Collins. That’s not the singer who crooned, “You’ll Be In My Heart”, but the British artist who introduced East German instructors of Marxism-Leninism to Manchester with Marxism Today. Like the more famous Phil, he has his share of love songs, but it’s Marx and Engels, who are in his heart.

Manchester had no statues of Engels. Now thanks to Collins, it will.

Phil Collins lives in Berlin. The Engels statue comes from the Ukraine. And he would like to bring the unemployed instructors of Marxism-Leninism from East Germany to Manchester “to teach Marxism in schools there.” It failed in the Ukraine. It failed in East Germany. But it’s bound to work in Manchester.

The search for the statue started out in the Russian city of Engels: a post-industrial disaster area where unemployment is high and drug smuggling and human trafficking are major industries. The old Communist infrastructure is coming apart. And so on he went to Mala Pereshchepina in the Ukraine.

Mala Pereshchepina had previously been best known for the tomb of Kubrat, founder of Old Great Bulgaria, who had been laid to rest surrounded by golden vessels and jeweled rings. There Phil found a broken cement statue of an old monster and decided to haul the ugly old thing over to Manchester.

There’s always been a market for the art and tchotchkes of fallen totalitarian regimes. There’s a booming market in Nazi and Communist souvenirs. And Collins isn’t the first sympathizers to haul back one of the many Comrade Ozymandias statues that were tossed into the dirt when the Soviet Union fell.

There’s a Lenin statue in Fremont, Seattle. It was bought and shipped over by an English teacher who mortgaged his house to pay for the statue of a mass murderer. It’s been for sale for over twenty years. The current asking price is $250K. So far no capitalist has acquired Lenin as a lawn ornament.

The New York Lenin facing Wall Street hasn’t done any better. On Houston Street, the Red Square building houses a FedEx, a Dunkin’ Donuts, a Sleepy’s and an H&R Block. The building was built by a former NYU professor of “radical sociology”. Then it was bought for $100 million. The Red Square was renamed, Lenin came down and occupies a humbler perch on an eyesore of a tenement.

The icons of Communism don’t hold up well against the march of capitalism.

Being derivative, Phil Collins has to compensate by being twice as loud. The Engels statue will encourage Manchester’s working class to contemplate the “conditions of the working class” today. But Collins seems oddly uninterested in contemplating the condition of the working class in the former Communist countries he passed through while searching for the kitschy junk souvenirs of Marxist tyranny.

Indeed, the only people whose conditions he seemed interested in had been pushing Marxism-Leninism.

Phil Collins would not have done well under Communism. Just ask the Russian Futurists. What began with a boisterous call to throw the art and literature of the past overboard from the “steamship of modernity” ended with a muffled whimper as the Futurists were forced to adopt Socialist Realism. Collins’ statue is, among other things, a tribute to the Communist suppression of modern art.

The irony of modern art celebrating its own suppression is both heartbreaking and stupefying.

The Engels statue will sit in Tony Wilson Place. Mr. Manchester’s spot has a certain appropriateness and inappropriateness. Wilson was a Socialist who refused to pay for private health care, despite being fairly wealthy. Engels profited from the same misery that he graphically condemned. But none of it matters.

A mile away from Mr. Engels’ new digs is the Manchester Arena where Salman Ramadan Abedi, a second-generation Muslim refugee, murdered 22 concert goers and wounded hundreds more.

A specter had stalked the streets of Manchester. And it was no longer the specter of Communism. It was Salman howling,

“There is no god but Allah and Mohammed is the messenger of Allah”.

Forget Marx. In Manchester, it’s Mohammed time. And Islam does not allow any paintings, cartoons or statues of Mo.

Cops raided Abedi’s home in a part of South Manchester where sixteen other Jihadis had operated. Forget Engels, you can tour the home of Abu Qaqa al-Britani, the ISIS propaganda point man who did for the Islamic terror group what Engels had done for the popularization of his left-wing cause.

Friedrich Engels had lived in Moss Side, Manchester. These days Moss Side is best known as a no-go zone in progress. The neighborhood swarms with Muslim migrants. It’s violent and broken. 36% of the population is Christian and 34% Muslim. 12% of the population comes from Somalia or Pakistan.

The Engels house was long since demolished. But Salman Abedi’s home is still standing in Moss Side.

There is a different breed of radicals in Manchester now. Forget the old folks flying the red flag. It’s the black and white flag of the Jihad that counts now. The new radicals of Manchester aren’t fighting for the dictatorship of the proletariat, but the tyranny of Sharia.

The new murderous utopian movement cares nothing for Das Kapital. Its guidebook is the Koran.

Dumping a statue of Engels salvaged from the wreck of Communism into a city on the verge of being wrecked by the left’s enthusiasm for migration is more of a morbid prank than anything else. The left’s nostalgia for its murderous past has blinded it to the reality of the murderous present and future.

Engels viewed the “Mohammedan revolution” as class warfare. The Manifesto of the Communist Party written by Marx and Engels sees their radical movement as the superior inheritors of Islamic fanaticism.

"Islam was unconquerable so long as it trusted in itself alone and saw an enemy in every non-Mohammedan," they write in its closing message. “From the moment when Islam entered upon the path of compromise and united with the non-Mohammedan, the so-called civilized powers, its conquering power was gone. With Islam it could not have been otherwise. It was not the true world redeeming faith.”

“Socialism, however, is this, and socialism cannot conquer nor redeem the world if it ceases to believe upon itself alone,” they conclude.

There are many Socialist militants in the UK, but they have made their compromise with Islam.    That’s why Jeremy Corbyn winks and nods at Hamas and Hezbollah. It’s why Phil Collins went to the West Bank. For his Ramallah production, he screened The Battle of Algiers which glamorized the FLN terrorists who desecrated the Great Synagogue in Algiers, planted an FLN flag and scrawled, “Death to the Jews”. The synagogue is now a mosque. Yesterday Algiers, tomorrow Manchester.

Labour meetings in Manchester have been known to be segregated by gender. The police spend more time hunting Islamophobes than fighting Islamic terror. The specter isn’t of Communism, but of Sharia.

Muslims in Manchester know what the true world redeeming faith is. And it wasn’t preached by Engels. It was the left, not Islam that failed. The left turned over its mission to Third World radicals who were more Islamic than Socialist, but who had the courage to bomb and kill that the European left no longer did. And then when the Socialism vanished and there was only Islam, the Socialists bowed their heads.

Forget Engels. Mohammed is in Manchester now.
