Barack Obama’s Legacy is Benghazi

No—this is not going away

It’s time for Barack Obama to pay for the murders of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, USFS Sean Smith, and contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Sean Smith. Obama thinks he is home free, but he is not. We the People are not going to let it go.

When President Barack Obama was fraudulently elected using a stolen Connecticut Social Security Number, he faked the oath of office, too. In fact, he had to do it a second time the next day because he screwed it up at the Inauguration ceremony.

He let four men die on September 11, 2012, and he should have both been charged with a crime. It’s not too late.

Everyone knows about the attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi. There was a local militia protecting Ambassador Stevens and Sean Smith, but they ran off when the attack began. CIA contractors a mile away from the compound were ordered to stand down twice. Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty refused and went to help Stevens and Smith.

But why was Stevens and the CIA in Benghazi? Renowned investigative journalist Seymour Hersh cited an anonymous former senior Defense Department Intelligence Official, saying "The consulate's only mission was to provide cover for the moving of arms. It had no real political role." The attack allegedly brought an end to the purported United States involvement, but did not stop the smuggling according to Hersh's source.

The attackers used rocket-propelled grenades, hand grenades, assault rifles, 14.5 mm anti-aircraft machine guns, truck-mounted artillery, diesel canisters and mortars. This was no casual mob and it sounds like Hersh was right.

Despite the weapons involved, and with the Obama administration knowing within 24 hours that it was not a “spontaneous” attack, they sent professional liar Susan Rice to five different Sunday news shows to peddle that lie. The impetus for the attack was allegedly some short video from a previous year about Mohammad. No one bought her bullshit.

John Nolte at Breitbart (September 27, 2012) shared that point of view:

“The false White House narrative blaming the murders on a protest gone bad over a YouTube video never really passed the smell test. But Obama maintained that illusion straight through to his speech before the United Nations two days ago, even as reports surfaced that our government knew al-Qaeda was behind the attack within 24 hours. Apparently, this has become too much to sweep under the rug for some of the mainstream press and Democrats.

“The behavior of Obama and Secretary of State Clinton over the past 14 days is a scandal of the highest order. Lies, cover-ups, and neglect for security of American intelligence and personnel that borders on criminal.”

As Gary Graham said in November 2012, in Breitbart: “Diversion, distraction, smoke-screen obfuscation…one thing you can say about our newly re-elected President, he has more moves than an NFL open-field running back.”

The attack started at 3:42 p.m. E.S.T. (9:42 p.m. Benghazi time) and lasted more than eight hours. Before the attack, a Turkish diplomat, Consul General Ali Sait Akin, left the embassy unharmed. He saw men amassing nearby but was allowed to freely pass. The first alarm to Washington of the attack came at 4:05 p.m.

Obama had a pre-scheduled meeting at about 5:00 p.m. and was made aware of the attack in the fifteen to thirty-minute meeting.

Later when questioned if requests for help were denied, Obama responded: “The minute I found out what was happening, I gave very clear directives. Number one, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to.”

Karin McQuillan noted it all in American Thinker (November 2, 2012). She added that (Obama) gave the order to the military, the CIA (who was in an annex one mile away) to everyone….”

“Yet the undeniable fact is that nothing was done…So if the President is not lying about his directives….” everyone disobeyed the order of the commander in chief. “And that as commander in chief, Obama did nothing in response to their dereliction of duty.”

Obama disappeared for the rest of the night while the attack continued. He did not ask for an update on the attack. He was next seen the following morning as he was boarding a flight to a fundraiser in Las Vegas.

Help could have been sent immediately to Benghazi. There were substantial U.S. forces at Aviano Air Force Base, Italy. With a refueling in Sigonella, Sicily, F-16s could have arrived in Benghazi in three hours. Former Navy SEALS Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty fought for eight hours.

A source who was in a squadron at Aviano said: “There were people everywhere. That flight line was full of people, and we were all ready to go. Only they were waiting for the order. It never came.”

Was this also another Obama plan that failed? The speculation is that it was to be a simple kidnapping of the ambassador. Obama, with the election only two months away and with tanking poll numbers, needed action to make him look like a tough peace negotiator after a disastrous first four years.

The grand scheme, in which some believe Obama took part, was that Stevens would be kidnapped and traded for Omar Abdel-Rahman, the “Blind Sheik,” who was jailed for the attack on the Twin Towers in 1993. Islam militants wanted him released.

But the Obamaites underestimated the stupidity of the attackers—members of Ansar al-Sharia. They were supposed to use gasoline to start a fire, which would drive occupants from the building into the courtyard, but instead they used diesel fuel. It causes black smoke, making it impossible to see or breathe, and can render someone unconscious within minutes. Gasoline emits a lighter smoke, and people can escape from it. Stevens and Smith were in a safe room but could not see to find their way out. Smith’s body was found; he died from smoke inhalation. Stevens was already dead when his body allegedly was left at a hospital. Other reports said he was found in a ditch.

Outrageously, three weeks after the Benghazi attack, the Obama administration still wanted to release the Blind Sheik from jail. Only a letter from the House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith stopped it from happening. He died in jail in 2017.

During the attack, Woods and Doherty, under the impression that help was on the way, painted the enemies with lasers to show their location. In doing so, they gave their position away and were killed. They thought help was coming and it should have been.

Former National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor confirmed Obama was not available when the attack was in progress. When asked by the IndyStar (May 8, 2014) where Obama was, he responded: “‘Dude, this was like two years ago.’ Vietor’s juvenile comment…plunged jaws from coast to coast.”

Vietor said he was in the Situation Room that night but Obama wasn’t. When asked again where Obama was, Vietor said: “In the White House but not in the room I was in. I don’t have a tracking device on him…” (This jerk was 34 years old and sounded like a Valley Girl.)

“‘We’ve no info. on the whereabouts of the president the night of the Benghazi attacks,’ one top House staffer (said). “Wish we did.”

In February the 2014 The House Armed Service’s Committee released Majority Interim Report: Benghazi Investigation Update. In it then defense Secretary Leon Panetta and U.S. Army General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff “testified they had no further contact with the President (after their earlier meeting), nor did Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ever communicate with them that evening.”

It’s time to find out why Obama ignored his duty, his sworn oath, to protect our country and our people. Perhaps president-elect Donald Trump can solve the riddle with the “President’s Daily Diary,” where people signed in. Although people visiting Obama were known not to sign in as required.

From writer Marc Thiessen in the Washington Post, dated May 12, 2014: Outside the Oval Office is the Outer Oval, where staff members keep logs of visitors, length of stay and topics covered. “They even record the president’s bathroom breaks (They write ‘evacuating” into the log.)”

But Thiessen writes there is also a career National Archives employee called the White House Diarist. “This individual preserves them as a minute-by-minute historical record of the presidency for future use by presidential scholars.”

Why did the White House fail to provide the information on Obama? A new congressional select committee on Benghazi needs to subpoena all records. The White House Visitor’s log for September 11, 2012 shows three people meeting that night in what appeared to be a campaign debate session: Michael Donilon, David Ginsburg, and Ron Klain. Subpoena them, too.

As Theissen says: “During Watergate, Richard Nixon. has his infamous 18 1/2 minute gap. When it comes to Benghazi, Obama has an eight-hour gap. That gap needs to be explained.”

Biden’s Benghazi

August 29, 2021 @ Sultan Knish Blog

More American soldiers died in one week of Biden’s retreat than in the last two years of war.

9 American soldiers had died in combat in Afghanistan from August 2019 until now when over a dozen of our men were murdered in one single day during Biden’s shameful retreat.

Like so many of the American soldiers who were killed by the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies during the Obama-Biden administration, and like the Americans murdered in Benghazi by Jihadists allied with Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood, they did not have to die.

American soldiers died because they were prevented from defending themselves.

Abandoning thousands of Americans behind enemy lines, the Biden administration turned the Kabul airport into Fort Apache surrounded by the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and other Jihadis.

Taliban Jihadists controlled checkpoints, checked papers, beat Americans, and entered the airport to “coordinate” security with American forces. Thousands of American citizens and soldiers were cut off from each other, able to meet only with the approval of the Taliban.

“We use the Taliban as a tool to protect us as much as possible," Marine Corps Gen. Frank McKenzie had bragged. McKenzie had repeatedly described the Taliban as "partners".

As warnings of an imminent ISIS-K attack grew, the Biden administration continued to rely on the Taliban to keep their fellow terrorists in check. This was the same treasonous mistake that led to the murder of Americans in Benghazi at the hands of an Islamic militia that was being paid to protect them from other Jihadis. It was also how the British lost thousands of soldiers during the disastrous retreat from Kabul in 1842. But Biden, Austin, and Milley remained blind to both recent and classical history about the perils of trusting the lives of your men to the enemy.

Even now with so many American soldiers dead, the Biden administration and its generals can only think of closer “security cooperation” with the Taliban showing that they learned nothing.

The Taliban and ISIS-K are feuding because ISIS-K consists of former members of the Taliban and the Haqqani Network. But that hasn’t stopped ISIS-K and the Taliban from cooperating by freeing each other's members from prison during previous attacks.

When Biden abandoned Bagram Air Base, he not only threw away the best and most secure means for evacuating Americans, he also handed over thousands of terrorists imprisoned at Pul-e-Charkhi who included Al Qaeda and ISIS-K terrorists. It would not be surprising if the perpetrators or organizers of the Kabul airport attack turned out to have been imprisoned there.

The Biden administration and its cronies keep promising that the Taliban will fight ISIS-K.

Taliban units have gone back and forth from ISIS-K in much the way that our “good” Jihadis in Syria went back and forth between the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, and ISIS.

When the Biden administration coordinates with the Taliban, there’s no way to know if it’s coordinating with the factions of the Taliban potentially sympathetic to ISIS-K.

But there’s no question that it’s coordinating with Al Qaeda.

The Taliban put Khalil Haqqani in charge of security in Kabul. The Haqqani network has been closely allied with Al Qaeda. The Wall Street Journal noted that, "prominent Taliban units with ties to the Haqqani network now operate within feet of U.S. troops securing the area. "

Shahab al-Muhajir, ISIS-K’s new leader, was a former Haqqani network commander.

Afghan officials from the former government have claimed that ISIS-K is just another mask being worn by the Haqqani network.

"Shahab Almahajir, the newly appointed leader of the Islamic State of Khorasan Province-ISKP is a Haqqani member. Haqqani and the Taliban carry out their terrorism on a daily basis across Afghanistan and when their terrorist activities do not suit them politically they rebrand it under ISKP," former Afghan interior minister Masoud Andrabi had tweeted.

Just like in Libya and Syria, sorting through the complex web of alliances and enmities between Jihadist groups, is a long and difficult process with no ultimate truth at the end, only more lies.

The only sane thing to do is to trust none of them.

Turning over security around the airport to a group with ties to Al Qaeda was treason.

Biden entrusted the lives of American citizens and soldiers to a Jihadist organization, the Haqqani network, which was allied with Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.

Even now the Haqqani network is holding Mark Frerichs, a Navy vet, hostage.

The Biden administration not only failed to free Frerichs, but coordinated on security with his captors in the hope that they would protect American soldiers and civilians.

They even turned over lists of American citizens and Afghan allies to the Taliban to help them with their "security" arrangements in what has been described as a "kill list".

An official defended the move by arguing that "they had to do that because of the security situation the White House created by allowing the Taliban to control everything outside the airport."

That did not have to happen.

Biden made the decision to evacuate the military before the civilians. Then he rushed the military back, but refused to allow our soldiers to actually create a secure evacuation pathway.

The Taliban were put in charge of security to and around the airport. And even when the Taliban handed over security to a group allied with Al Qaeda and even possibly ISIS-K, the Biden administration and its incompetent appeasers in uniforms and suits went on trusting the Taliban.

The Biden administration was repeatedly warned that ISIS-K was planning an attack. Just as the Obama-Biden administration was warned that the Benghazi consulate was threatened.

Both in Benghazi and Kabul, the response was to lean harder on the goodwill of the Jihadis.

And in Kabul and Benghazi, Americans died because a treasonous administration put its trust in terrorists instead of letting American military personnel protect the lives of Americans.

Americans did not have to die at the hands of Islamic terrorists in Kabul.

Americans trying to reach the airport did not have to be beaten in the street by Taliban thugs.

The United States did not have to leave Afghanistan in an airport encircled by the enemy, while rushing to meet the Taliban’s August 31 deadline even if Americans had to be left behind.

These were decisions that Biden, his cabinet members, advisers and generals made.

They should be held accountable for them.

The failure to hold Obama accountable for Benghazi led directly to the tragedy in Kabul.

Appeasing Jihadists has become the cornerstone of the Obama-Biden foreign policy. Over a thousand American military personnel died during the Obama-Biden surge in Afghanistan because they were not allowed to defend themselves so as not to offend Muslims.

Why did Biden accede to the Taliban demand that we leave Afghanistan by August 31?

The same reason he turned over security around the Kabul airport to the Taliban.

So as not to offend the Taliban.

American soldiers didn’t die because they had to. They died because they weren’t allowed to protect themselves and their fellow Americans.

They died because Biden put the Taliban’s feelings ahead of the lives of American soldiers.

Since 2007, when Biden ran for president on a platform of surging soldiers and nation-building in Afghanistan to win the hearts and minds of the locals, he was selling out our soldiers.

This is his most shameful betrayal.

Don’t call Joe Biden the commander-in-chief. Call him what he is, the traitor-in-chief.

Judicial Watch uncovers emails showing Ben Rhodes and aides joking about Benghazi lies

June 28, 2020 By Thomas Lifson

Judicial Watch once again has proven to be invaluable (donate here) in uncovering official perfidy. This time, its Freedom of Information Act lawsuit has uncovered utterly appalling levity among top Obama foreign policy aides over their lies to the public about the September 11, 2012 attack on the Benghazi Consular Annex that took the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Information Officer Sean Smith, and two CIA operatives, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, both former Navy SEALs. Readers will recall that UN Ambassador Susan Rice, now touted as a vice presidential nominee for front man Joe Biden, went on five Sunday morning talk shows to lie about the attack and blame it on a YouTube video seen by a handful of people. Nine days later, the-Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes yucked it up with his crew.

Here is what Judicial Watch discloses about the emails (read them here) it brought to light:

It’s hard to keep your story straight if you’re making it up as you go along, which was the modus operandi of Obama fabricator Ben Rhodes.

The Justice Department released 80 pages of records showing top Obama White House officials scrambling to “evolve” its false claims that the September 11, 2012, terrorist attacks on U.S. Government facilities in Benghazi, Libya, began “spontaneously” in response to an anti-Muslim video on the Internet.

The emails reveal top Obama White House official Ben Rhodes and Clinton State Department Deputy Chief of Staff Jake Sullivan joking about being called “liars” and “leakers.”...........To Read More

Obama's Benghazi in Baghdad

Daniel Greenfield 0 Comments Sunday, January 05, 2020 @ Sultan Knish Blog

When Shiite members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) attacked the American embassy in Baghdad, in a deliberate recreation of the attack on our embassy in

The parallels are certainly there.

In both Benghazi and Baghdad, Islamist terror militias who we thought were our allies turned on the United States. In both cases, there was nothing surprising or unexpected about this inevitable development to anyone except foreign policy experts and the media.

And, in both Benghazi and Baghdad, the Obama administration's policy of cultivating Islamic terrorists had come home to roost.

The Islamists who attacked the embassy were not Trump's allies, but Obama's allies.

When Hadi al-Amiri, the head of the Badr Brigade, the former military wing of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, came to the White House, it was in 2011, not 2017.

The close IRGC ally was welcomed by Barack Obama, and played a role in the embassy attack. The IRGC, Iran's global terror hub, had been listed as a terror group by President Trump, a move resisted by Barack Obama dating back to his time in the Senate.

Once in the White House, Obama's policies so empowered and enabled the IRGC that in one of the most infamous incidents in American history, members of the Islamic terror group captured and humiliated American sailors. There is little doubt that the IRGC was the hidden hand behind the embassy attack in Baghdad through its PMF proxies.

The rise of ISIS and the attack on our embassy in Baghdad had their roots in Obama's backing for Iraq's Shiite dominated government in Baghdad. The Bush administration had tried to unite Sunni and Shiite Muslims into a political system that would sideline Al Qaeda on the Sunni side and Iran on the Shiite side. Iraqi civil society was probably always doomed, but Obama's Iraq policy was to turn the country over to the terrorists.

Obama wanted to pull out of Iraq as soon as possible. His plan for a quick pullout was to allow Iran a free hand in Baghdad. Iraq's central government dominated by Shiite Islamists loyal to Iran allowed Islamic militias backed and trained by Iran to execute gays and impose Islamic law in the streets. The Sunni tribal leaders who had made the 'awakening' against Al Qaeda possible were ignored when they came to D.C. seeking support against Iran.

While the media went on touting Obama's incredible successes in Iraq, the country split into two terror camps. While the Popular Mobilization Forces rolled up Shiite areas, Al Qaeda in Iraq reinvented itself as ISIS.

Unlike President Trump, Obama chose not to hit ISIS hard. Instead, after Iraq's military collapsed, his administration's anti-ISIS strategy relied heavily on supporting the Shiite PMF militias which included embedded Iranian forces.

Obama had helped birth the Islamic State by backing Iran's takeover of Iraq. Forced to fight ISIS, he doubled down on the same strategy. And that completed the takeover.

The marginalization of the Kurds, whose attempts at creating an independent state were crushed by the Shiite regime in Baghdad, and the Sunnis, who had been caught between Iran and ISIS, ended military opposition to the Iranian takeover of Iraq.

But political protests against the Iranian puppet regime broke out, leading to violent clashes between protesters and PMF thugs, PMF attacks on Americans, American retaliation against PMFs, and the attack on the United States embassy by the PMFs.

Iran's takeover of Iraq, like its involvement in Yemen's civil war, in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, had been funded by the wages of Obama's nuclear sellout. The billions that the Obama administration had directly and indirectly handed to the terrorists of Tehran were used to fund soft and hard influence across the region.

The Iran deal didn't just mean that the terror regime was able to continue building up its nuclear program, but that it could increase its financial commitments to Hamas, help build up Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and the PMFs in Iraq.

Iran had four things to offer its Shiite (and occasional Sunni fellow travelers ranging from Hamas to Al Qaeda) Islamist allies. These were weapons, training, a global network, and money. Of these money was the most generic, but also the most important.

Islamic terrorism is only partly built on the suicidal fanatics willing to die for Allah. It's mostly built on amateur and professional killers who want to get paid.

Choke off the money and recruitment drops.

Under Obama, billions in foreign currency were illegally flown into Iran on unmarked cargo planes, but Trump cut off the cash.

The cash crunch not only weakened Iran's regime, where fresh protests arose, but its terror networks, including in Iraq, began facing their own cash shortages. And so Iran's rulers, their IRGC hidden hand, and their Islamist PMF proxies decided to send America and the protesters a message.

Earlier this year, the Trump administration had sanctioned the South Wealth Resources Company (SWRC), allegedly a key conduit for the IRGC's ability to smuggle weapons and money in and through Iraq.

The sanctioning of the IRGC itself had met with anger from the Badr Brigade and Hadi al-Amiri. The conflict escalated with Kataeb Hezbollah, a PMF, attacking Americans. The death of an American contractor in a Kataeb Hezbollah rocket attack raised the stakes. President Trump struck back with airstrikes against Kataeb Hezbollah. And Kataeb Hezbollah attacked the embassy.

Kataeb Hezbollah is another project of the IRGC and is led by Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis who was part of the attack on the embassy. Muhandis is the Deputy Commander of PMF who is linked to the 1983 truck bombing of the US embassy in Kuwait which, had it been better planned, could have destroyed the facility.

After the airstrikes, Al-Muhandis warned, that “the response to the Americans will be harsh."

But who helped build up this terrorist infrastructure? The Obama administration did. Beyond its illegal foreign cash shipments to Iran and the sanctions relief, the PMFs benefited from US foreign aid directed through Iraq's Interior Ministry.

Even as Iraq's Interior Ministry was headed by a Badr leader trained by Iranian forces who had been arrested for smuggling explosives used to attack American soldiers, our foreign aid kept flowing through an Iraqi ministry run by terrorists.

The Obama administration was funding terrorists to fight terrorism. It was the same disastrous scenario that had led to the massacre in Benghazi.

The only difference was that the blowback took longer to arrive in Baghdad than it did in Benghazi.

Obama's foreign policy operatives and the media have blamed the embassy attack on Trump's pressure on Iran, rather than on Obama's appeasement of Iran.

This is a variation of the same cynical Obama administration strategy which manufactured a fake intelligence community consensus blaming Benghazi on a protest over a Mohammed YouTube video, instead of a coordinated transnational wave of Islamist attacks coordinated well ahead of time to coincide with September 11.

The Obama administration may be history, but the damage it did still revebrates through the region as the Islamist forces it unleashed continue to tear apart nations and to threaten American lives.

Obama's Benghazi in Baghdad

How Obama's Iraq treason created ISIS and led to the attack on our embassy In Baghdad.

Fri Jan 3, 2020 Daniel Greenfield

When Shiite members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) attacked the American embassy in Baghdad, in a deliberate recreation of the attack on our embassy in Tehran that had ushered in a new age of Shiite terror, the media was quick to label it 'Trump's Benghazi'.

The parallels are certainly there.

In both Benghazi and Baghdad, Islamist terror militias who we thought were our allies turned on the United States. In both cases, there was nothing surprising or unexpected about this inevitable development to anyone except foreign policy experts and the media.

My Take - One thing must be becoming more and more clear to everyone.  Everything Trump has done, and is doing, is exposing just how bad the Obama administration really was.  Virtually everything Obama and his band of traitors did is now being exposed to the light of fact and history.  They really were the Manchurian Candidate administration. The nation is now coming to a period of clarity and understanding.

Benghazi Scandal: Email Shows Military Offered to Rescue Benghazi Victims

Benghazi Scandal: Email Shows Military Offered to Rescue Benghazi Victims

by David French November 1, 2016

He just accused Republicans of degrading political discourse while doing the exact same thing. If you think political discourse has a chance to return to sanity after 2016, you’re woefully mistaken. Despite the looming specter of a Trump presidency, some on the Left still can’t think straight, still can’t see straight, and still litigate the political disputes of the past as if mainstream Republicans were wild-eyed fanatics straight out of dystopian fiction.

It’s hardly new or original to note that the Left has “cried wolf” so long about Republicans that accusations of racism, sexism, homophobia, and islamophobia now fall on deaf ears. Indeed, it’s worth remembering the hysterics of the past. Remember when MSNBC’s Touré charged Mitt Romney with the “niggerization” of Obama because Romney had called the president “angry?” Remember when it was racist to critique Obama for playing too much golf? Remember when Mitt Romney killed people by denying them health care?......To Read More.....

Emails Show Military Ready to Move on Benghazi – White House Called Them Off – Ambassador Left to Die

Now this…Emails show the Pentagon was ready to move to rescue the US men and women trapped in Benghazi.  The Obama White House called them off.  FOX News reported:

“I just tried you on the phone but you were all in with S [apparent reference to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton],” reads the email, from Panetta’s chief of staff Jeremy Bash. “After consulting with General Dempsey, General Ham and the Joint Staff, we have identified the forces that could move to Benghazi. They are spinning up as we speak."........“This leaves no doubt military assets were offered and ready to go, and awaiting State Department signoff, which did not come,” Judicial Watch, a nonprofit government watchdog said in a statement......To Read More....

Washington Post: New York Magazine's Hillary Profile 'Whitewashed Benghazi'

by John Nolte 24 Sep 2013

Washington Post media reporter Erik Wemple has just launched what he calls a "massive series" that will look at how the media covers Hillary Clinton, who is almost certainly running for president in 2016. The second part of the series (you can read part one here) examines New York Magazine's lengthy profile/interview of the former Secretary of State. In his headline, Wemple accuses the publication of whitewashing Benghazi:

The message of this treatment, though, is that Benghazi is merely and exclusively a political matter, not one of leadership and preparation and integrity. For instance, those security problems — can they be legitimately dismissed in just a sentence fragment? Even Obama administration officials have conceded that the security failures constituted a significant breakdown. How much of the failure appropriately belongs to the State Department’s leader?...............To Read More....

Susan Rice vs. GOP as Benghazi fight escalates

By SCOTT WONG  11/27/12

The running fight between U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice and congressional Republicans escalated Tuesday, with key senators vowing to block Rice’s nomination if President Barack Obama ever decides to pick her as his next secretary of state. Rice headed to the Capitol on Tuesday morning to meet with three key GOP voices on foreign policy and discuss the deadly Sept. 11 attacks in Benghazi, Libya. But despite some softer rhetoric from Republicans over the weekend, the meeting ended badly, with Sen. John McCain and two other GOP senators saying they were “significantly troubled” by Rice’s explanation of the attacks.  Acting CIA Director Michael Morell also joined Rice at the meeting, but the senators focused their fire on Rice, who has faced constant criticism from Republicans over the Benghazi fallout.  To Read More…..
