Hollywood once
supported America and family values; it’s now antithetical to them. This
means that many Americans are rooting for its collapse during a
writers’ and actors’ strike over an industry change as significant and
destructive as the advent of the car was to carriage makers.
I’m a huge fan of pre-1960s movies, and I
know a fair amount about the history of Hollywood. In Hollywood’s early
years, the executives behind it were almost entirely Jewish immigrants
who found a niche in a brand-new industry and filled it.
Throughout
the 1920s and into the very early 1930s, movie plots got progressively
more sordid. However, in the face of combined pressure from consumers
and politicians, Hollywood cleaned up its act, producing family- and
America-friendly movies for the next 35 or so years until the social
compact started falling apart in the mid-1960s.
Beginning in the
mid-1960s, Hollywood turned against America. This was in part because
industry followed the Baby Boomers, who were a huge source of funds and
who were moving left at warp speed.........To Read More.....
- Hollywood, RIP - July 17, 2023 — John Hinderaker -
Hollywood’s actors’ and screenwriters’ unions have both gone on strike.
The divisions between these employees and management apparently are
deep, and some think the strike could go on for a long time. This would
prevent the movie studios, etc., from producing any content for a while,
which would be fine with me. Barry Diller, head of the media
conglomerate IAC and former CEO of Paramount and 20th Century Fox,

- Am I the only one not rushing to Saturday Night at the Movies? - July 18, 2023 By Silvio Canto, Jr. - Too much politics and not enough else! So don’t blame me if I spend my money doing something else.........Yesterday,
I heard some actors complain that they can't make a living anymore. I
sympathize with them and hope that things work out. At the same time,
they should spend some time between the coasts and talk to people who
are not rushing to the movies on Saturday nights. It's not
complicated. People want movies that are entertaining and too many of
today's reels are preachy and obnoxious.............
My Take - One thing that comes out clear as a bell over this. It appears America could care less. These striking actors are the same brood who proclaimed they would leave America if Bush, and then if Trump was elected, and we've been waiting with bated breath for them to leave, and they just won't go. To show just how clueless these nitwits are they actually thought such a threat meant something to Americans.
There's talk this strike could destroy Hollywood as we know it, but it seems America could care less. Will America's lack of concern shake them up? Or even better yet, will it rattle them when they realize a substantial number of Americans would like to see Hollywood go down the drain?
Nah, egos that large crowds out sufficient room in their brains for any real intellectual depth.
