Over the last couple of day a couple of articles appeared that will be the basis for this piece. First, let's start with Monica Showalter's commentary, Jen Rubin spews tripe about Florida, forcing the WaPo to issue an embarrassing correction, and starts out saying:
Talk about stupid Jennifer Rubin wrote a column in the Washington Post, absurdly claiming that Florida was so badly run and so "cruel" its residents were fleeing, basing her entire article on this errant premise, and forcing the Washington Post to issue an embarrassing correction. The statistic she cited came from some dingbat at Business Insider who mixed up the inbound numbers of Florida residents with the outbound numbers of Florida residents -- a pretty elementary error. Business Insider had to correct itself the following day.
But truth and narrative are often at odds, so, the intellectual foundation for much of what passes for "journalism" is a lot like a Hollywood movie based on actual historical events. Hollywood is a fiction factory, and when their narrative is totally inaccurate historically, they take the view:
"If it didn't happen this way, it should have".
So, when fallacious information is too emotionally delicious to ignore, they run with it anyway.
Let's understand, journalism has always been a fiction factory, but never as bad or as powerful as now. When they created college courses in journalism it gave an impression of respectability. That was an illusion. And it's now obvious because the main stream media is under internet watch, which is how Jen was exposed. And she was exposes where? Twitter! Wapo issued a correction, but Showalter asks, "who knows if they would have, had the Twitter correction not been so loud and out there first."
So, I looked up this "journalist" to see if perhaps she was just a over eager young pup trying to impress the leftist leadership at WaPo. No, she's 61, and has been at this for many years and could have easily found out this information was bogus . She is in my view (as I see most of these nitwit leftist writers) a lazy, thoughtless ideologue. Ideology makes smart people stupid, and there's no fixing stupid.
So to condense Showalter's evaluation of Jen and her handlers at WaPo here are her views:
"What a gullible doofus!..........Nothing clouds a reporter's judgment quite like extreme prejudice and hate........What a bunch of fools."
Well, regarding the integrity of the media, compared to Kurt Schlichter, Monica Showalter was being kind. On July 17, 2023 he published this piece, The Deserved Suffering of the Regime Media Hack, saying:
........mindless, Marxist robots, but there are some who have a glimmer of understanding of what they truly are. Sure, they can tell themselves the lie that they are the good guys, or girls, or non-binary individuals, but the ones who are not totally gone know the truth. Regime media journalists are trash. Many of them live in denial, but they understand the reality. They see the lies they are part of, and they know the truth.
These people are at the center of the information universe, yet they deliberately ignore the things they know because those things are inconvenient, and they make up the things they don't know. They don't report the news, they create news out of nothing and make appear as if its something. Take this "Hard-hitting news story: Trump made a bad golf shot. This makes me rethink my support for Trump". Wow! Trump made a bad golf shot, so that's worth a headline? Right? I commented on that post saying. with a bit of snarc:
C’mon man. The media must have priorities! Gerald Ford tripped and the media felt compelled to warn Americans the nation was in totally incompetent hands. Biden trips, falls, loses his way on a stage, babbles incoherently, has no clue where he is half the time, and the media assures us the nation is safe, secure, and economically sound. But for Trump to have a bad shot on the golf course is an outrage. The media must warn America this is proof positive this man should never run for President of the United States. See, definition leads to clarity!
He goes on to note the "regime" media has what he calls the Trump Exception, which means:
"[They] aren’t limited to the mere regurgitation of facts. And now the Trump Exception is not limited either. Trump’s the very worst thing that ever happened, a second coming of Hitler, but he’s nothing compared to Ron DeSantis who I guess is the third coming of Hitler by now, and if Tim Scott suddenly takes off, against all odds, he’ll be the fourth coming of Hitler, and worse than all of them combined because you need him to be............all that objectivity and neutrality stuff that kept you from full-throated support for your communist favorites.........Now, a lot of regime media reporters are just plain evil, and a lot of them are pretty stupid.
To support that claim he goes on to show how they:
"........covered up for Hillary Clinton, who took classified material home, let it get exposed to our enemies, and then destroyed it when she got a subpoena"........pretend[ed] [Biden] wasn’t a desiccated, senile, old pervert hiding out in his basement. But you knew he was a desiccated, senile, old pervert hiding out in his basement. All your friends knew it. You regime reporters talked about it with each other. But you didn’t tell us. You didn’t tell the people. You didn’t tell them because that would hurt the Democrats’ cause, and you’ve decided that your career depends on helping the Democrats win.
He goes on to discuss the corruption of the media regarding Hunter Biden, Schiff's lies, the Russian hoax, finally concluding they don't dare tell the truth because if they did:
"your editors would just shut you down, and if they tried to let you, the others in your newsroom will scream that you’re helping the Republicans by telling the unvarnished truth and get the editors fired."
So they "degrade" themselves filling their "reportage" with lies of commission, lies of omission, embracing Orwellian definitions like calling the castration of young boys, "gender affirming care". All in an effort to control the public's thinking, not to mention their historical ignorance is legendary, He says they're lying trash. He says they know they're lying trash, and society is finally coming to the realization they're lying trash, and he feels a backlash is coming.
Well, we certainly agree on the facts, but as for the backlash, as the reporter in the movie Charlie Wilson's War said, We'll See!
