What I'm Reading: Islam in America

Islam in America

By Rich Kozlovich Tags: The World's Nine Orders

For years Muslim radicals in America insisted the flag of Islam would fly over the nation, and most laughed.  Its not so funny now.  Breitbart Business Digest: Lower Immigration, Higher Productivity? With people who actually began a few years back that women don’t exist and then insisted that they never said, before they went back to saying it, it can genuinely be hard to tell.  What they indisputably are though is completely dishonest." The West Owes Islam Nothing.

The “China Shock” and American Jobs

July 24, 2025 by Dan Mitchell  @ International Liberty

From an economic perspective, the most important part of this video is at 2:22, when I explain that everyone is better off in the long run when there are job losses caused by creative destruction.

Today, I want to share some real-world data to confirm that assertion.

Here’s a chart showing the 10 metropolitan areas that reportedly suffered the most (the “China Shock”) when China became part of the world trading system.

As you can see, both low-income and average-income residents in these cities now have higher wages than they did before trade with China supposedly wreaked havoc.

The chart comes from an article by Jeremy Horpedahl.

Here are some excerpts.

Much has been made of the “China Shock,” or the impact on US manufacturing from two related trade policy changes: the US granting China permanent normal trade relations in 2000, and China’s accession to the WTO in 2001. …

David Autor and co-authors have been some of the primary contributors to academic research on the China Shock, showing its negative impact on certain people living in various parts of the US. …we can identify 10 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) that are the most affected by Chinese imports…

What happened to those “most affected” MSAs? Here’s a shocking fact: all of the MSAs hit hard by the China Shock still managed to have significant and positive real wage growth across the distribution since 2001… Wage gains in several of these places, in fact, are better than the national trends. …the 10th percentile workers saw larger gains than the median worker.

It’s also worth looking at employment data. The next chart shows that these communities have enjoyed as much job growth – on average – as the rest of the United States.

The conclusion is that protectionism is not the right way of responding to trade.

…the lesson of the China Shock isn’t that we need more tariffs and industrial subsidies. Instead, it’s that the way to help Americans and US regions that are hurt by foreign trade (or any other economic shock) is to allow them to transition to a different, more modern industrial structure and allow their service sectors to flourish. …To emphasize one more time, …

I have focused on the MSAs that were most affected by the China Shock—in other words, the worst-case scenarios. Yet even these worst cases show that the US economy is more than able to adapt to employment changes brought on by international trade, even as we enjoy all of its other benefits.

Amen.

None of this means that there are not victims from trade. But as I’ve explained before, there are far more victims from internal trade than there are from international trade.

What’s important is making sure there is a good economic environment so that job gains are greater than job losses. And so long as government doesn’t interfere too much, that will lead to rising incomes over time for everyone.

Americans Are Getting Richer, Part III

June 23, 2025 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty

The core insight of the 16th Theorem of Government is that you don’t need perfect policy for economic growth.

There will be some progress so long as private sector isn’t being completely smothered by bad policy.

That being said, I’ve spent my entire professional life trying to explain to policy makers that they should limit the size and scope of government so that the private sector has plenty of “breathing room” to deliver rapid growth.

  1. Some jurisdictions do a good job of getting that kind of growth over the long run. Singapore is a good example, as was Hong Kong before the Chinese crackdown.
  2. Some nations do a lousy job, however, with statist policies that suffocate the economy. North Korea is an extreme example, and Argentina (pre-Milei) is another tragic case.

The United States is basically between those two extremes. And America’s economic performance is the focus of today’s column.

I want to build on what I wrote in 2021 and 2024 to sort of celebrate that Americans are getting richer (I will only “sort of” celebrate because – with better policy – we could be getting richer at a significantly faster rate).

And I’m not even going to provide any of my own analysis. Instead, I’m going to share various charts showing how living standards have improved over the past few decades.

We’ll start with a couple of charts from Daniel Di Martino.

Our second chart is from Mark Perry. It shows that more and more people over time enjoy higher living standards.

Next we have a chart prepared by Jeremy Horpedahl.

Here are some similarly encouraging trend lines from John Lettieri.

By the way, some folks on the left (and even some on the right) want to dismiss the above evidence by admitting there have been economic gains, but then asserting that ordinary people have not enjoyed any of the benefits.

So let’s look at a few more charts showing how all income groups have benefited. We’ll start with this chart from Mark Perry.

Next we have a chart from a report by Scott Lincicome.

And here’s a chart shared by Gary Winslett.

Next we have a chart from an article by James Pethokoukis.

Last but not least, here’s a chart from the Wall Street Journal showing impressive mobility between generations.

I’ll close by noting that these charts should not be interpreted to suggest America can or should rest on its laurels.

There is much that could be done to get faster growth for everyone (free trade, tax reform, deregulation, etc) as well as steps that should be taken that would be especially beneficial to the less fortunate (school choice, welfare reform, etc).

The Stories We Tell

By Daniel Greenfield @ Sultan Knish Blog

Over 150 years the concept of the Great American Novel was invented in The Nation magazine. The mission of this proposed literary “American epic” was to capture “the ordinary emotions and manners of American existence.” Today, The Nation is a hodgepodge of woke rants. The magazine no longer believes in the greatness of America. And how can there be a great American novel without a great America?

America, as a recent essay at the magazine mocking the idea of the Great American Novel puts it, is an “absurdity.” The American novels that the magazine and its leftist ilk praise are either outrages or absurdities. The topics under discussion are identity, race and class, that indeed appear to make any notion of a single America singularly absurd.

That now ancient essay calling for a Great American Novel in the aftermath of the Union’s supremacy in the Civil War had assumed that there was to be a unified America, but the Confederacy’s multicultural great-grandchildren reject the Union as anything but a tool for forcing their preferred radical policies on the country.

But if indeed there is no America, if we’re just Yugoslavia with a variety of unhappy warring tribes struggling against oppression, why not break the whole thing up? Without the rationale of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the conviction that America is a grand experiment worth fighting for, why fight for her at all?

Officially the ongoing purpose of America is to atone for the existence of America, redistributing wealth, power and rights, and reallocating them to the formerly ‘oppressed’ and redistributing narratives, replacing Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day, the national anthem with the black national anthem, and American history with the 1619 Project. Only the complete inversion of America can atone for America.

But why not take a short cut to this tribalist utopia by just breaking up America?

The ‘People’s History’ reading of America as a race and class based tyranny is universally accepted now among the NPR and Harvard set and yet the same regional bureaucrats who begin their sessions with land acknowledgements to vanished Indian tribes never give a thought to breaking up the United States. They are not out to undermine the national governing structure of the country: only its culture.

It’s that notion of an American epic grounded in a national identity, at times tragic but ultimately heroic, that they are coming after. They don’t want to destroy America as a state, but as a nation. When we talk about them wanting to destroy America, we don’t mean that the Left wants to destroy FEMA, the Department of Education, the FBI, local state governments, the local community public schools and parking authorities or any of the structures that they falsely claim are “systemically racist”.

What they want to destroy is the idea of America, the spirit of it, while leaving the dead bones of it intact. They want American power, without the American soul. It’s the machinery of government that they want, the stone and the steel, untethered from any limits, constitutional or electoral, retasked with the mission of building a totalitarian state.

That’s why the Left chose a cultural war rather than a civil war. It’s not the government they’re at war with… it’s with us. As long as there are people who call themselves Americans and have it mean something, the leftist grip on power will be threatened.

To subjugate us, they have to destroy our culture and our identity through our stories.

And so they’ve replaced the national epic with a national anti-epic that anyone who has been to school or college in the last quarter century is already intimately familiar with. Instead of discovery, there is colonialism, instead of hard work, there’s slavery, instead of the journey westward, there’s genocide, and instead of progress, there’s oppression.

The search for the Great American Novel was a foolish proposition. America was always its own story, too great and intimate, overarching and personal, to limit to the pages of any book. The Great Anti-American Novel is a simpler narrative in the way that the antithesis to greatness, the dark mirror and satirical distorted image, is cruder than the work they set out to tear down, but that makes it easier to grasp. America in its true form is hard to encompass, but call it racist and it becomes all too easy to sum up.

America, they’ve been telling us for at least a century, is stupid, ugly, greedy and mean. It’s slave ships, not frontiers, imperialistic wars not patriotic last stands, genocidal massacres of Indians, not pioneers carving out homesteads from the wilderness. We’re racists who tell ourselves dumb stories about liberty, and we’re the mass murderers who bombed the innocent of Dresden and Hiroshima. We do not deserve to exist.

The only thing to do, they tell us, is to let go. Stop fighting. Stop believing. As Oprah put it, we just have to die, as individuals and as a nation, and let our enemies take over

That way they don’t have to go to the actual trouble of killing us if we erase ourselves.

The Great Un-American Story is genocidal in that way. It’s meant to wipe out a people. Us. It’s a poisonous epic that dominates art, literature, music and film. It pervades academia as thoroughly as Marxism-Leninism filled the Soviet university. Patriotism never had a fraction of its grip on our society at any time in American history.

And if we are to survive unto the next generation and the one after that, we must meet that culture of death with a culture of life. It is not enough to attack the Left, we must affirm what America was, is and shall be, to write our own Great American Novel, not perhaps in words, but much more importantly, in the stories we pass down to our children and grandchildren, because if we do not tell our story, they will.

The Left got this far in no small part by telling a compelling story. Telling stories is at the heart of what it does. And it understands, sometimes better than we do, that the stories we tell make us who we are. Once upon a time the stories we told were of the Bible, of Valley Forge, of Andrew Jackson and Pearl Harbor, now they’ve been displaced by pop culture, and some rage and complain that the pop culture, always liberal anyway, is now ‘woke’, and that it promotes an even more extreme version of the Un-American Story.

But that is what happens when we outsource our stories to corporations, to their class of leftist writers and actors, and then complain that they don’t like us, rather than telling our own stories, singing our own songs and taking root in our history and our faith. The culture is not Hollywood or Amazon, that’s consumer culture, the true culture is us. The key to reviving America is not out there, it’s in us: it’s in the stories that we tell ourselves.

We can still tell our Great American Story. And we can make it great once again.

The United States vs. Europe

So far this decade, I’ve written at least nine columns (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here) showing that the United States is out-performing Europe.

Since I endlessly complain about bad policy in the United States (see yesterday’s column, for instance), my goal is not American boosterism. Instead, I’m simply noting that European nations generally have even worse policy.

So of course they get even worse results.

Today, I’m going to show some more evidence. Here’s a chart from the Financial Times that was shared on Twitter (now X).

It shows two things. First, that major nations, other than pro-market Switzerland, are behind the United States (I added a red line to highlight the level of per-capita GDP needed to for countries to be equal to America).

Second, it shows that the gap between European nations and the U.S. has widened over the past twenty-plus years.

The good news is that some senior officials in Europe realize there is a problem.

The bad news is that they have no idea how to fix things.

Last September, I wrote about the Draghi report from the European Commission. I was glad the report acknowledged problems, but it was an utter failure based on recommendations (or lack thereof) for fiscal policy and monetary policy.

Now the European Commission has a new initiative called the Competitiveness Compass. Jack Nicastro of Reason explains why this latest offering is a farce. Here are some excerpts.

The European Commission unveiled the Competitiveness Compass, a new initiative aimed at boosting member states’ productivity, …but the Competitive Compass doubles down on central planning and aggressive environmental targets. …In its “Communication from the Commission,” which details the policies that von der Leyer believes will make the E.U. more competitive, the Commission rightly identifies high energy prices and a high regulatory burden as making Europe’s companies less competitive internationally. …

The Competitiveness Compass gives lip service to deregulation… At the same time, the Commission doubles down on regulation, top-down dictates, and industrial policy, listing over 40 “acts,” “directives,” “frameworks,” “guidelines,” “initiatives,” “packages,” “pacts,” “plans,” “regulations,” “reviews,” “roadmaps,” and “strategies,” which direct public funds to industries and research the Commission believes will result in economic growth. …the majority of the plan increases the role and size of the public sector and is the wrong way to go. The European Commission should go back to the drawing board and create a plan that shrinks the size of government, reduces regulations, and increases economic freedom.

I’ll close with two observations.

  1. The obvious answer for E.U. nations is to copy Switzerland. Smaller government and lower taxes are good advice for all nations.
  2. Since I’m worried about a bubble in the U.S. economy, the American advantage may not be as large as shown in the above chart.

Though European nations also are vulnerable to crisis. So you have to figure out which side of the Atlantic has worse politicians and central bankers. Based on this and this, it may be a toss-up.

Muslim Rape Gangs

25oo years ago Herodotus said "Culture is King".  Nothing's changed.

By Rich Kozlovich, Tags:

Over the last few days there's been a outcry in the UK over these Muslim rape gangs grooming young girls for the most vile abuses.  But let's get this right.  This isn't just the UK, this is going on all over Europe.   As you read this I want you all to understand, this didn't just start yesterday, and while the media is running with it, I've been writing about and linked articles about this since 2011, where Sweden was being called the "rape capital of the world", which was excused by Sweden's leaders.   And it's not just been happening in Europe.

In 2016 a "5-year-old girl was orally, anally and vaginally raped and urinated upon by three Muslim migrant boys" and the authorities acted as if the raped girls family were the criminals.  "The Council on American-Islamic Relations has whined that the case has become “a lightning rod for anti-Muslim, and anti-refugee sentiments.”

The rape was videotaped.

The medical expenses were large, and yet they were only allowed assistance of $4500, and because the local Muslims were harassing and menacing them they had to keep moving to different hotels costing a couple of thousand dollars, along with "babysitting fees,....expenses for transportation to get themselves to and from court, and ......... the astronomical cost of their lawyer.

The old lady who caught them doing these terrible things had to live in fear being "stalked by the Iraqi family" of one of the attackers, who was 7.   Here's the thing that can never be fixed.   A once happy five year old child wants to be alone and stays in a small safe closet ..... for hours fearing "those naughty boys".  City officials and the media cast doubts on whether or not the rape occurred.

The rape was videotaped.

And where did this happen? Twin Falls, Idaho.  The poor child is now thirteen and I can't help wonder what lingering impact all this has had on her, and will have for the rest of her life.

The farce of multiculturalism - We should view the migrant turmoil in Europe as a signpost for what the USA can expect from mass Islamic immigration. ..........

What I think we have to look at is the overall experience worldwide of the stable social environments where Muslims have been thrust upon.  Germany is having a rape crisis.  Sweden is a mess and between Sweden and Denmark they've become the rape capital of the world.  So who are responsible for this massive increase in sexual assaults?  Muslims!  That's only the tip of the iceberg regarding Muslims and the increase in crime in the nations they invade.  And all these officials are completely dismissive of the reality of that including ignoring or challenging the facts.  Here's the link to my Sweden Commentaries.

In Vienna seventeen Muslims ..... SEVENTEEN.... raped a twelve year old girl for months, and one of them has been acquitted, in spite of confessing.  The judge, who is as vile as the perpetrators, said "there was no evidence to prove the schoolgirl did not consent".

Are we to believe a twelve year old can legally consent to such a thing in Austria?  The answer is no, they can't, and how is this girl supposed to "prove" she didn't give consent?  That's a logical fallacy called proving a negative, which is impossible.  Furthermore, since she's a minor all that has to be proved is they sexually molested a minor child, and all since all this was video taped, there can be no question whether or not this vile crime was committed.  This vile judge needs to be disbarred and prosecuted ... for... something ..... even if it's just public humiliation.
This is a fire storm that was created by Elon Musk and his exposure of all this.  Why didn't the Brits know all this?  It appears the European countries have a lot more control over the news than in America, and the British government is horrified at Elon Musk’s language.   There's no limit to the stupidity the "elite" can embrace since "free speech in Britain is almost as dead as many of the young girls who were brutalized by migrant South Asian men."  It turns out:

"There is absolute horror at the highest levels of government at the “incendiary language” we have seen from Elon Musk."..... “Harumph! In polite society it is very bad form indeed to use words like ‘rape’ and ‘anal,’ let alone to cast aspersions on a marginalized group of immigrant men!  Has Elon Musk no shame?!”

Shame? They're unbothered over these crimes against humanity, but they're upset over Musk's language, and truly outraged at all this attention to these rape gangs brutalizing their nation's children.  And they think Musk should be ashamed?

In England the police arrested a father for trying to save his daughter who was being abused by Muslim gangs and the police did nothing, and these questions hang in the air.  Are police working with the gangs?   Are the police ashamed? They should be hanging their heads in shame.

Musk attacked the British prime minister over Muslim rape gangs, and he didn't stop with the current PM. The entire British establishment should be hanging their heads in shame, both Labour and  Tories.   Musk not only attacked the "current Prime Minister ......Sir Keir Starmer, who was a former director of Public Prosecutions from 2008-2013, to be jailed for his role what Musk views, right along with millions of others, as one of the most shameful events in recent British history", he also went after Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.  They sold little girls for votes.  The Parliament should be as ashamed as the government for rejection an inquiry on Muslim rape gangs.

Why would  Parliament vote 364 to 111 against Muslim rape gang investigation.  They sold the nation's little girls for votes, "250,000 votes of rape victims vs 4 million Muslim bloc votes."

These three young girls, Elsie, Bebe and Alice were killed by a Muslim with a knife in England, and Keir Starmer is worried about Islamophobia, calling Musk's posts "poison for the far right." He accused people such as Musk and those supporting Tommy Robinson of spreading "lies and misinformation" as far and as wide as possible, alleging they were "not interested in the victims," but rather being out for themselves. He added they were "not interested in justice… these are people who are trying to get some vicarious thrill from street violence, which people like Tommy Robinson promote."  And that's the best he can offer in his defense, and the defense of the vile practices of the British government?

I really don't like Musk and I've spoken harshly about him, and I don't take back one word, but this has the potential to become his legacy that all will remember.  Again, and I can't repeat this enough, European leaders are supposed to be the shepherds guarding their flocks, but they have not only foisted these wolves on the flock they've covered for them, protected them, arrested any who resisted them, and brought in more wolves. And they're upset that according to them it's Musk who is rude, and has no shame.

There may not always be an England as the UK has sunk into a vile cesspool of barbarism.  For the British government, the courts, and the police to turn a blind eye to this vile behavior is abandoning western civilization and putting savages in charge of the nation.  Islam isn't a religion, it's a criminal political movement masquerading as a religion with the foundational values of hate, greed, envy, lust, and violence, and by supporting this the government of the UK is now bereft of any sane moral foundation.   It seems to me these political invertebrates are on the take, or they afraid to do what they were elected to do.

All this is coming to a head, and the Labour Party will soon be out, the Tories are in the wood shed for the foreseeable future, and Farage’s Reform UK will create the next government, with Farage as the next PM.   He vows an inquiry into these rape gangs and one of the victims of the infamous Rotherham Child Rape Grooming Gang is standing by Farage demanding a national inquiry, which is the desire of an overwhelming majority of Brits.

I do think there may be issues with Farage and where he really stands on immigration, as I read some of his views and they seem somewhat ambivalent, and I really don't like his take on Tommy Robinson who has been in prison as a political prisoner!  Yes, Tommy is a convicted criminal, but so too is "every patriotic Brit who’s now in jail for expressing concern online about grooming gangs and other aspects of the Islamization of Britain".

He's been in prison since October for exposing all of this to the UK and the world, and has been doing it for years, and refuses to obey the court order to be quiet.  Where was Farage over this in all the years Tommy has been fighting this battle?  Not in the ring with Tommy and says Tommy has no place in his Reform party because he's a convicted criminal. Here's my

The vile history of Islam is incontestable.  We have almost 1500 years of history that shows Muslims everywhere in the world destroy the stable societies they invade and the officials in these countries, who are supposed to be the shepherds protecting the flock, are more concerned with political correctness than they are the flocks they're supposed to be protecting while being ravaged by wolves.

Culture and the Perils of Ideology - One of the remarkable lessons about the British grooming gangs scandal is how dismissive ideologues are of first principles and the concept of natural consequences.  The idea that sexual crimes by immigrant communities should be concealed, or even abetted by government officials in the interest of "community relations" or some abstract multicultural ideal is dismissive of the of the nature of and minimal requirements for functioning human societies.

The grooming scandals highlight some very basic attributes of cultures and societies. At a very basic level a society is a group of people who live among and interact with each other, and who share at least some common interests. Cultures are, at base, those collections of habits, manners and values that influence the interactions among members of a society. Cultures and societies may be much more complex and involve many more facets than described here, but these basic criteria are essential. Societies may contain subcultures, but it is the dominant culture that provides stability...........

The catastrophic folly of multiculturalism is the belief that cultures that arise in significantly different environments, and from significantly different histories, can exist unchanged in a new environment if afforded sufficient tolerance. In practice, a new culture introduces a new environment and the interacting cultures will change each other in unpredictable and often undesirable ways.

Introducing a culture that has little respect for property, for example, will not reliably make the host culture more accommodating of pilfering, but may instead provoke more aggressiveness in defending property.....Not all cultures are compatible within the same society or geographic region. These are basic realities that apply to societies and cultures all over the world. They are natural consequences of humans living among and interacting with one another and do not yield readily to arrogant theories or deluded hubris................ Culture determines the fates of civilizations.

Here's the question I keep coming back to time after time on so many subjects.  These people are at the center of the information universe, and we're to believe they didn't really know or understand what was happening?   Yet the bugman knew all about this, and has published information about these outrages for almost 15 years.  So, if the bugman knew all this, how is it possible they didn't?

It's time to close the immigration door to the antisemitic, anti-white, anti-capitalist, and anti-Christian migrants, and yes, it does have a lot to do with race, religion, and ethnicity, as so often the cultures these people are coming from are incompatible with our culture, and they not only have no desire to assimilate, they expect all of western civilization to change to accommodate them. Muslims don't give, they take!

I would still like an answer to this question.  What Did the Royal Family Know, and When Did They Know It?

Terror in America: Just the Facts

The latest news on NOLA and the Las Vegas attacks.

By | Jan 2, 2025 @ Liberty Nation News, Tags:  Articles, Crime & Punishment, Law

On New Year’s Day, an assailant drove a rented truck into a crowd of revelers on New Orleans’ famous Bourbon Street. So far, there have been at least 15 confirmed deaths and about 30 others injured. The attacker has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar of Texas. Authorities are currently investigating whether the attack was part of a coordinated strike and if the exploding Tesla cybertruck outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas was connected.

Terrorism in NOLA

Jabbar, reportedly a US citizen who had formerly served in the army, was shot and killed after trading gunfire with law enforcement. His rented truck had an ISIS flag attached to it, and according to President Biden’s statement on the deadly assault, he had made social media videos “mere hours before the attack,” indicating he was inspired by the Islamic State extremist group and expressing a “desire to kill.”

The FBI is investigating this as a terrorist incident and stated that Jabbar had accomplices. Officers discovered improvised explosive devices in the truck and the surrounding area. Authorities believe his accomplices were responsible for planting the outside devices.

“Investigators found multiple improvised explosives, including two pipe bombs that were concealed within coolers and wired for remote detonation, according to a Louisiana State Police intelligence bulletin,” the Associated Press reported.

The French Quarter of New Orleans is usually a heavily regulated zone for vehicles with adjustable bollards (steel columns) in place to prevent access. However, starting in November of 2024, the replacement of the bollards began and left the area more vulnerable.

Las Vegas Explosion

Just hours after the New Orleans attack, a rented Tesla cybertruck exploded outside the front entrance of the Trump Las Vegas hotel. Investigators said the explosion was caused by firework mortars and camp fuel canisters in the back of the truck and was not related to the actual vehicle. The driver of the car was killed in the explosion, and at least seven other people were injured.

Witnesses report that the truck driver – now identified by local media as Matthew Livelsberger from Colorado Springs, also an army veteran – drove up to the valet area in front of the Trump International Hotel on Las Vegas Boulevard and Sammy Davis Jr. Drive and stayed in the vehicle for around 20 seconds before the explosion occurred.

So far, it is believed that Livelsberger rented the truck in Colorado and drove it to Nevada.

Denver 7 Colorado News Chief Investigator Tony Kovaleski posted that:

“Sources also confirming Livelsberger served at the same military base as the terrorist responsible for the attack in New Orleans and authorities are investigating a possible connection between the two men.”

A connection between Jabbar and Livelsberger has not been confirmed by investigators.

Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill suggested that this may also be a terror attack. He said, “This is a Tesla truck, and we know that Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it’s the Trump Tower … So there’s obviously things to be concerned about and it’s something we continue to look at.

“We are absolutely investigating any connectivity to what happened in New Orleans as well as other attacks that have been occurring around the world … We aren’t ruling anything out,” McMahill said.

The Daily Mail reports that “Law enforcement sources revealed that Livelsberger, who died Wednesday in the explosion outside the hotel, had previously served at the same military base as New Orleans terrorist Shamsud Din Jabbar.” Both the Ford Truck used in New Orleans and the cybertruck were electric vehicles, both rented through the rideshare company Turo.

This is a developing story. Liberty Nation News will keep you updated as facts emerge.

The World's Nine Orders

By Rich Kozlovich

All geopolitics is predicated on four factors.  Geographics, demographics, economics, and that most exclusive factor of all, the happiness factor, and the happiness factor is seemingly incomprehensible to most of the world's leaders.  Why?   The masses just want security, and the world's leaders just don't care.  When they don't care, they don't understand, and they don't want to understand.

Yesterday this article appeared at American Thinker, From Cats and Geese to Kissinger’s ‘World Order’, with Christopher Chantrill outlining four foundational narratives according to Henry Kissinger, with whom I've never been impressed.  That started a train of thought in me as I thought......  just four?  Really?

Well, I guess you can organize and define all of this as one pleases, but I thought four was entirely too limiting, so, I came up with nine foundational narratives, i.e. nine orders that impact human existence, and truth be told, that number is open to debate.

First.   There are these International organizations such as the United Nation (UN), which I consider a "Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy", the World Trade Organization (WTO), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD, the

If we take a look around the world we find there are eight more foundational cultural systems that pretty much determine what goes on the in the world, and once we recognize and analyze that it becomes clear the concept of an organized "world order" is an impossible dream, and these international organizations are the "first" among the orders of our existence, and they're a disaster for humanity.   Follow the links to see why.

Second.  Let's take a look at China.  Their history is massive, and impressive, and while their nation is officially atheistic, it's foundational social paradigm is still predicated on Confucianism.  Chinese knew China was the center of the universe, and all they needed was China, and outside the current leadership's desire to control the rest of the world, that's not what the Chinese people want.

They're spending enormous amounts of money on their military, but China's broke, and going more broke by the day.  They've just closed thousands of restaurants in China over economics. Central planning at it's worst, a Maoist economic philosophy that failed when Mao was alive, and will fail with Xi as China's Maoist emperor.

Like the old Soviet Union, they're not a natural capital generating nation, and there's every indication they're heading into an economic toilet just like the Soviet Union with Xi's Maoist economic thinking.  The sooner that happens the better off their world will be.   Like most leaders, the leadership in China hasn't a clue about what makes the people of China happy.

Third. Islam has no concept of world peace until the world is converted to to Islam, preferably with the sword.  As a result, Islam has been at war with the rest of the world in varying degrees for almost 1500 years.   Any harmony that exists with Islam and any other nation or group in the world is never anything except temporary, and it only exists to allow Islam to reorganize and attack once again.  Also, there's no harmony within Islam.

The foundational values of Islam are hate, greed, envy, lust, and violence.  And the only ones they hate more than kafir (non believers) are Muslims of different sects, as each sect considers the other sects heretics, and the Koran demands the death of heretics.   They're only powerful as long as oil is king, and that's subject to change, but only if the rest of the world has the will.

They're a medieval tribal culture with modern communications, transportation, and weapons, all of which means they must be contained and isolated, as they cannot, and will not, be assimilated.

Fourth. India is mostly Hindu, and their goal is to transcend reality into a higher plane, and truth be told, I find India and those who embrace this philosophy totally incomprehensible, and their culture amazingly complicated.   But they can be a force, and the key here is they're not going to embrace any of the other five orders, in any way except to potentially allow them to be a very small part of their culture, which also means they will play all sides against each other for their benefit.   Trusting them overmuch is irrational as India will never be a stable ally, and their internal social structure is extremely complicated.

Fifth.  Then there's the Russian order.  Russia's huge, and is a "hordesland" nation, meaning large armies could sweep over their land with ease as did the Mongols, and is the underlying social paradigm, or fear, for Russia as a nation, albeit that fear is now irrational as no one wants to attack Russia, certainly not any nation or group of nations in Europe.  And that social paradigm accepts they idea Russia can only survive by being controlled with absolute power, and that everyone in the world want's to destroy Russia, so all nations are Russia's enemies.

One thing Russians developed as a result of being overrun by invading armies is patience.  They believe the tides of time, distance, and size are on their side, and will wait for the tide to change.  But like China, it's not a natural capital generating nation, and we now know, it's not the military bear we thought it was, and they're losing credibility as a world power daily.

Sixth.  Europe, which Otto Von Bismarck once observed that America, unlike Europe, is a real nation, sharing the same language and culture.  Whereas Europe is nothing more than a geographical designation.  A geographic designation with at least 24 official languages, and more unofficial dialects, amounting to around 200 languages.  All with widely different cultural values.  The only biding force in Europe was Christianity, and they turned that into wars.

The nations of Europe aren't real nations, they're a conglomeration of small Kingdoms, Dukedoms, etc, that were pushed together through peace treaties after some war or other over the centuries, and they've pretty much abandoned Christianity.  Now they believe in anything, everything, and nothing.   Europe can't even embrace a united Europe without disastrous results, as we're now seeing, let alone a united world.   Their embrace of uncontrolled immigration by Muslims will destroy them, so let's try and get this right.  Europe is a spent force, the EU is doomed, and their economic collapse is imminent.

Seventh.  Africa, and it's a mess, it has aways been a mess, and it will always be a mess, speaking between 1500 and 2000 different languages, filled with terrifying religious movements and failed social paradigms.  There is no stability in Africa, even in the northern tier Muslim nations.   Given the corrupt lack of civil rights in these nations, and the lack of a stable rule of law, there can be no social order in which they'll fit.    As of 2023, there were, since 1950, approximately four hundred and ninety two attempted and/or successful coups around the world.  Two hundred and twenty of them were in Africa.  One hundred and nine of them were successful.  Africa is a bad investment.

Eighth.  Latin and South America are also a mess, and much of what's going on there is also unfixable, at least from outside sources.  Let's take Argentina.  Argentina in the early 20th century was one of the most economically successful nations on the planet could have been to model for the rest of South and Central America, except they embraced socialism and continued an viral downward economic swirl for over 100 years.  But that's now changing.  We'll come back to that.

The geographic conditions of South America makes war extremely difficult and none of these nations have navies capable of Normandy style invasions.  Even the Northern Tier nations have geographic issues, and don't even have railroads that connect them together, and their mineral rich interiors are largely ignored because of their lack of capitalist thinking and social structure, along with unstable political structures.

The Union of South American Nations is a loser and gets nothing done.   As of 2021 of the 16 countries that make up South America, seven have either suspended or withdrawn their membership, and as far as I can tell there are only six active members.   As for taking action against Venezuela?  They couldn't even agree on who the Secretary General should be and at times the position went unfilled. And guess which country remains a member? Venezuela!

From Mexico to the tip of South America there's now only two nations overcoming the socialist plague that's been destroying them by the new President of Argentina and El Salvador, both of whom believe in capitalism.   In El Salvador  President Nayib Bukele, did a hard crackdown on crime, and the power of the criminal elements in South and Latin America is devastating, and most of these nations don't have the political capital to do the same.

No matter what deals they make internationally – they will eventually have to look North, especially since it’s my belief the world is going to face a very large economic downturn within the next five years, possibly not for ten.   How fast and how deep will depend on the region, with China and Russia leading the downward trend, and all that international trade will become much more problematic – except to the North – to the United States, and from that point on the U.S. will dominate these societies economically, and if they embrace that it will be to their benefit!

Ninth.  America no longer shares a culture as it did in Bismarck's day, and America must get it's migrant situation under control, America needs to deport about 25 million aliens, illegal,  some legal, and some immigrants who need to have their citizenship revoked as a result of their anti American activities, some even involving espionage, criminal gangsterism, and obvious efforts at sedition.

For entirely too long Americans felt we could turn the rest of the world into America, or at the very least get them to embrace the American dream and the implement it in their nations.  That turned out to be stupid, but the reason for that is the intellectuals taught that and promoted it.  The facts are two fold.  We don't understand them and their historical social paradigms that were created over centuries, and they absolutely don't understand the American concepts of democracy and capitalism.

Other than these international organizations and the United States, there's a singular thing all the other orders have in common.  For most of their  history they were all ruled by kings with absolute power, which is why we don't understand them, and they don't understand us.  These seven orders exist with social constructs that are antithetical to each other at foundational levels, and there will be no world order predicated on peaceful coexistence.   Most importantly we need to understand, no matter what we do they will always hate and resent America, and that's the thing we need to understand about them.

However, there is one foundational truth we need to embrace.  They need us, and we don't need them.  America is a natural capital generating nation, and unlike all these other orders we can feed ourselves, arm ourselves, defend ourselves, fuel ourselves, create our own internal commercial market, and we're capable of paying off our national debt.

It's time we picked up our marbles and went home, and let them all crash.  Then there will either be a world in chaos, or they'll come to their senses, stop causing trouble and just take care of their people. I'm thinking they'll pick chaos.  Why? Because according to historians we're coming the end of a historical cycle, and all end cycles have massive economic downturns and are rife with violence.  History tells the tale, and often times it's not a pretty story, and then a new cycle begins.   Sadly, those kind of crashes are the fix.

Democrat Platform Says America Was Built on Stolen Land

By @ Sultan Knish Blog

The DNC 2016 party platform began by claiming that “Democrats meet in Philadelphia with the same basic belief that animated the Continental Congress when they gathered here 240 years ago.” Four years later, out went the Continental Congress and all of America.

The 2020 DNC platform began with a politically fashionable ‘land acknowledgement’ asserting that America was an illegitimate entity operating on stolen land “built on Indigenous homelands.”

The 2024 platform likewise begins with a ‘land acknowledgement’ claiming that Chicago properly belongs to 13 different Indian tribes. Once again, the DNC asserts that they “recognize that our country was built on Indigenous homelands.” That is to say America should not exist.

If the Democrats truly believe it, why not turn over Chicago to the Indian tribes?

Land acknowledgements were initiated by an Australian Marxist terrorist supporter at a counterculture festival in the 1970s. Its goal was to establish that Australians were foreigners and had to follow aboriginal laws and culture. 50 years later the practice, grounded in ‘decolonization’ has been widely adopted by American leftists and their ruling party.

Land acknowledgements are a form of historical revisionism, like the 1619 Project and destroying Columbus statues, that are paving the way for delegitimizing America.

The DNC transplanting them to Chicago demonstrates a whole new level of historical and scientific illiteracy. The Indians are not “native to this continent” unless the party’s new scientific consensus, which already believes that men can become women, also believes in separate human origins for different races (a racist 19th century belief once held by Democrats.)

Nor have they been here “since time immemorial”, but were Asian populations who crossed the Bering Strait in early human history. (The theory is unpopular with many Indian tribes.)

The DNC platform claims that Chicago was really the property of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi, along with the Myaamia, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac and Fox, Peoria, Kaskaskia, Wea, Kickapoo, and Mascouten Indians. But what actually happened to those tribes?

The Ojibwe, Odawa, Potawatomi, Fox, Kickapoo and many of the others on the list allied with the British in the War of 1812. During the war, they carried out brutal atrocities such as the Potawatomi massacre of women and children during the evacuation from Fort Dearborn. (The massacre has become politically incorrect and monuments to the victims have been removed.)

The DNC land acknowledgement boasts that it made the Prairie Band of Potawatomi the “first federally recognized Tribal Nation in Illinois in 175 years.”

The Democrat platform claims that Chicago was the “traditional homelands of the Anishinaabe, also known as the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations.”

That would have been news to them.

The Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi moved around quite a bit. They were forced westward by Iroquois expansionism. Some of the tribes to whom the DNC wants to assign Chicago were actually living in what is today Canada. There was no eternal Indian homeland in Chicago (named after a foul smelling plant) just a place different tribes passed through in between wars with each other and through alliances and wars with different Europeans. Like the War of 1812.

The United States and Great Britain ended the war with the Treaty of Ghent. Article Nine of the treaty mandated that the United States also conclude all hostilities with Indian tribes and “restore to such Tribes or Nations respectively all the possessions, rights, and privileges” so long as they “agree to desist from all hostilities against the United States of America.”

Some tribes chose to end hostilities, others moved with the British to Canada, and still others continued to engage in attacks. The tribes and smaller groups made and broke alliances with the British, the French and the Americans based on their perceived interests. They were not a fundamentally different “native people” with nobler, peaceful and more spiritual values. That is white liberal noble savage nonsense. They were colonists, warriors and hunters, like the Europeans, but without the same level of civilizational development or technology.

The DNC’s land acknowledgment fails to address any of this thorny history or answer the question of whether the Democrats, whose original party foolishly started the War of 1812 while being unprepared to fight it, would have been better off losing the war and the country.

Would Kamala prefer a world in which the British not only burned the White House but retained possession of it because that is what her party’s idiotic ‘land acknowledgment’ amounts to.

Instead the DNC reduces the Indians to magical “indigenous” people who “have been here since time immemorial” and “protected our lands, waters, and animals.”

The Indian tribes did not protect land and animals, they used them as hunting grounds.

Whatever human population existed in the Americas (which likely little resembled the modern conception of Indian tribes) probably led to the extinction of the megafauna, such as the mammoth and the saber-toothed tiger. They in turn were probably exterminated by the Indians, much as the more indigenous Hawaiians were enslaved and killed by the Polynesian colonists.

The Indians had more trouble hunting herd animals to extinction than they did apex predators, but that was because they lacked the technology to wipe out entire species. And those who did, like the Mayans and the Mound Builders (who built pyramids in Illinois and had more right to a DNC land acknowledgement) lacked the technology to survive overhunting a food species.

The myth of Indians valuing and preserving wildlife only to have Americans swoop in and destroy species like the bison or the passenger pigeon is more white liberal noble savage nonsense. While some tribes sensibly took steps to limit the impact of their hunting, others gleefully killed as many animals as they could. Indian creation myths left them with little grasp of the possibility of species extinction and refused to accept it when it was explained to them.

Perhaps the DNC could tell us how hunting bison by driving them off cliffs in huge numbers entailed protecting animals. Or killing entire herds of bison just for their tongues.

Given horses, rifles and a market demand for bison, beaver and other animals, the Indian tribes engaged in large scale killing of animals whose existence they took for granted.

The death of the bison and the passenger pigeon were more due to the Indians than Americans.

But the DNC is not interested in turning over Chicago to the Indians. No more than it is interested in real history and real Indians. Much as black people are to the 1619 Project, the Indians are to land acknowledgements as only a means to delegitimize America.

The DNC’s continuing use of land acknowledgements is more than an accident.

While the 2016 Democrat platform at least tipped the hat to the Founding Fathers, the 2024 platform makes a point of rejecting their work and the entire notion of America.

In a paragraph proposing slavery reparations and a study of “the continuing impacts of slavery” (which ended over 150 years ago), the DNC 2024 platform sarcastically jabs at the Declaration of Independence by endorsing ‘equity’ and contends that “we have a long way to go to realize the full promise of America, but we are committed as a party to continuing the work to build a nation where all people are not only created equal, but treated equally throughout their lives.” There is understandably no mention of the “inalienable rights” that come next since the purpose of equity is to eliminate individual rights and make the state absolute in all things.

The only mentions of the “constitution” in the DNC 2024 platform involve either attacking former President Trump or falsely claiming that there is some constitutional right to killing infants in the womb. Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson, once seen as the founders of the party, are absent, the only Jackson in the document is Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Democrats claim that they want to “ensure the promise of America for everyone, including black, Latino, and Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Americans”, but what is that promise and where was it made? The DNC platform does not know or care.

America, in the DNC view, is an unfulfilled “promise” of equality that their party intends to fulfill through equity. What it is not is exceptional. Its history is of no interest. It is a bunch of racists living on stolen Indian land. And the mission of the Democrats is to put an end to America through a totalitarian state for which the DNC platform is only a partial blueprint.

Everything You Need to Know About America’s Decaying Fiscal Status

April 21, 2024 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty

There was a lot of wasteful spending during the pandemic.

That was bad news, but what’s far more worrisome is that politicians used the pandemic as an excuse to permanently increase the spending trendline.

Here’s a chart based on CBO’s historical data and future projections. I added a yellow line to show the trend line based on spending growth from 2000 to 2019.

As you can see, spending soared above the trend line during the pandemic, came down slightly in 2022 and 2023, but now is projected to stay way above pre-pandemic levels.

At the risk of understatement, this added spending burden is the main reason America is in fiscal trouble.

To get an idea of how much spending has exploded in recent years, it makes 2008-2010 (Bush’s corrupt TARP bailout and Obama’s failed stimulus) look like a tiny blip by comparison.

Now I’ll add a caveat. Even without the pandemic spending orgy, America’s budgetary was on track to deteriorate. The retirement of the baby boom generation, combined with poorly designed old-age entitlements, translates to a higher spending trend line.

That being said, Trump and Biden combined to make a bad situation much worse.

Another caveat is that the headline on this column is an exaggeration. I simply like using everything-you-need-to-know as a rhetorical device when I have a very compelling visual or example.

I’ll close with the optimistic observation that it’s still relatively simple to solve America’s fiscal problems. All that is required is multi-year spending restraint.

P.S. The United Kingdom is suffering from the same problem of temporary emergency spending morphing into a permanent increase in the burden of government.

The United States vs. Europe

April 20, 2024 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty Tags: , , , ,

To show that living standards are much higher in the United States than they are in Europe, I periodically share OECD data on average individual consumption (2012, 2014, 2017, 2019, and 2022).

All of which implies that European economies should be growing faster than the U.S. economy.

But that’s not the case. In fact, the opposite is true. There’s anti-convergence.

Today, let’s look at another example, courtesy of a tweet by Jeff Weniger.

For what it’s worth, I think the chart overstates the American advantage (unless I’m misreading, I don’t think the numbers are adjusted for purchasing power parity).

That being said, the trend lines are very consistent with other data showing faster growth in the United States.

To wrap up, let’s look at a specific example of how Americans enjoy higher levels of consumption.

In this case, for housing. Here’s a map of square feet per dwelling that was shared by Prof. Garett Jones of George Mason University.

A dramatic difference, to put it mildly.

When I share this type of data with some of my left-leaning friends, they sometimes tell me that Europeans simply choose to work less and consume less because they value a better quality of life.

The only problem with that claim is that scholarly research shows that Europeans work less because of high marginal tax rates.
