Gun Control Humor

January 28, 2025 by Dan Mitchell @ International Liberty

The bad news is that I had only one column mocking gun control in 2024.

The good news is that this is in part because the pro-gun control crowd has been defeated and the issue isn’t generating as much attention as it used to.

To be sure, there’s no such thing as a permanent victory in politics, but we should celebrate the current state of play. The courts have upheld the 2nd Amendment and pro-gun control politicians don’t control either Congress or the White House.

So today’s collection of gun control satire should be considered celebratory.

Our first item is humorous, but makes a very serious point. If countless gun control schemes haven’t worked in the past, we should be very suspicious of people who want us to believe another law will make a difference.

Next, it’s always good when the other side unintentionally supports your case.

Here’s a cossetted Hollywood actor accidentally showing why it’s good to have an armed citizenry.

Our third item is very straightforward.

I normally am not a big fan of boosterism (I support the proper type of patriotism), but this meme makes me proud to be an American.

Amen. One of the few proper roles of government is to reduce crime by catching, convicting, and jailing bad people. The government is less likely to achieve that goal if it instead imposes gun control laws that merely disarm law-abiding people.............

P.P.P.S. My favorite gun control columns (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here) feature leftists who have experienced epiphanies.
