P&D and The Week That Was

De Omnibus Dubitandum.  Everything is to be questioned!

By Rich Kozlovich

Another week has flown by, and another week of unending crises followed by an unending level of incompetence and corruption.  I've not addressed Sussman trial as it was a clear demonstration of how corrupt the legal system has become.  The reason he was acquitted?  "There's bigger things than lying to the FBI", which is a tacit acknowledgement the jury knew he was guilty.  So then, why was Martha Stewart sent to prison when she lied about her investments?  Why was General Flynn persecuted by the FBI, and a corrupt federal judge, Judge Emmett Sullivan?  And he didn't lie to the FBI.  It gets to the point even a newsie like me can't stand it any longer.

As a side bar. I'm currently reading Amity Schlaes' book, Great Society. Amity Schlaes is a great historian, maybe one of the greatest this nation has produced, and her books are filled with details involving important characters who play vital roles in their circles, many of whom I've never heard of.  (The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression)

But except for her book, Coolidge, she did a good story telling job with that one, overall, she's not a great story teller and you have to wade through her books with determination.   But in the end you get a clear picture of how and why we're where we are.  It was part of "the plan", from the beginning of the 20th century.
