The Liz Chaney Saga Continues

I've been posting about what I'm calling the Liz Chaney Saga for some weeks now, and decided this week to keep updating the piece by Rebecca Downs with links to this story, which will follow in the middle of this piece and then all my links will be at the end.

Liz Cheney Is Not the Boss of Republican Voters - By Ned Ryun May 7, 2021 - A party is what people say it is, so become the dominant force in the party. Push the pendulum in the direction of America First policies.  As CNN, the Washington Post, and the rest of America’s finest propaganda outlets lecture Republicans that Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) must stay in GOP House leadership because she is a “truth-teller” (or whatever miserable lie they’re currently peddling), voters know she’s just a useful idiot of the Left. She brings nothing to the table for Republicans except lies (the Russian bounty hoax), ignorance (the 2020 elections were free and fair and January 6 was an “insurrection”), mediocrity (a miserable fundraiser and communicator), all of which are smothered with a heaping serving of neocon warmongering gravy.

There is absolutely no constituency for someone like Cheney inside the Republican Party, except maybe at a table also seating Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Meghan McCain. 

The propagandists, of course, are doing propping up Cheney for a reason. How better to distract from the far-Left misery of the Biden Administration than to gleefully highlight the No. 3 Republican in the House going on MSNBC and CNN to bash the caucus she’s supposed to be promoting?...........

Cheney, the Caucus, and the Crux - By Thaddeus G. McCotter May 7, 2021- It is the role of the U.S. House GOP conference chairman to attack Democrats and aid Republicans, not vice versa.  As of this writing, there is considerable doubt as to whether U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) should continue in her House Republican leadership position as its conference chairman. One scenario has her losing a caucus vote; another portends she will walk away from this internecine GOP battle and leave the position rather than betray her principles, most notably her opposition to the past and continued role of Donald Trump within the party. In either scenario, Cheney’s expected departure will be hailed by the corporate leftist media as the latest Republican martyrdom in the noble cause of resisting the cult of the “bad orange man.”

Is it? Cheney is not being run out of Congress. That is solely a matter for her Wyoming constituents to decide next year. Nor is Cheney being removed from her committee assignments; and her congressional office budget is not being reduced. Cheney is on the cusp of being replaced as conference chairman. Nothing more, nothing less. It is decidedly not the end of our free republic or of the Republican Party.

The conference chairman of the House Republican caucus is responsible for the development and implementation of the party’s unified messaging. In many ways, it is as if the House GOP is hiring one of its own to act as its PR director. One cannot overestimate how critical this position is for the House GOP conference...............

As Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the chair of the House Republican Conference, keeps finding herself in the news, it appears inevitable that the vote to oust her from this leadership role is fast approaching. She has turned out to be her own worst enemy on this as she lashes out against the GOP, especially former President Donald Trump. The Washington Post published her op-ed on Wednesday, "Liz Cheney: The GOP is at a turning point. History is watching us." 

Coverage to do with Rep. Cheney's political future, or lack thereof, is full of members, named and unnamed, sharing that she will likely lose her leadership title. Perhaps the most thoughtful perspective, a rather simple one, is that what happens to Liz Cheney is up to Liz Cheney. 

Over the weekend, when the congresswoman was finding herself increasingly in the news, I reported on the take that Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) had, the chair of the Republican Study Committee. He told Axios when asked if Cheney will still have her position in a month that "I don't know" and "That's up to her. I think a lot of us would like to see her join the team, be on the same team, same mission, the same focus. And at this point, that’s what many of us are questioning."...........To Read More....

If a former POTUS has committed a crime during his time in office or after, that is the responsibility of the executive branch. If ever there was a posted child for political nepotism, it's Liz Chaney.  Her family spent their lives in Washington, she has to know the Congress has no Constitution authority here, how can she not know it? 'I'm Not Going Anywhere': Liz Cheney Responds to Calls for Her Resignation From Leadership  - By Monica Showalter -  Wyoming's Rep. Liz Cheney has jumped right in to convict President Trump in a House second impeachment, based on the riot that went down on Jan. 6 in the Capitol. According to her statement, via Deadline Hollywood:

She's certainly getting her 15 minutes of fame and will no doubt become a high priced lobbyist in the near future continuing to muddy the waters.  As for all those voting her out now:  They will be attentive to her clients positions in the future.  Why?   Because politics is about inter-personal beneficial interlocking relationships.  Meaning backscratching for money and power.  If her clients have big bucks to send to these politicians, they find a way to justify listening.
